Tom welcomes back Martin Armstrong from Armstrong Economics to explore current global economic trends, geopolitical tensions, and market reactions. Armstrong discusses how governments worldwide are facing declining trust due to progressive agendas, citing examples like Germany's shift toward far-right parties and Europe's struggles with migration. Armstrong highlights the cyclical nature of political movements, referencing Trump's 2016 victory as a starting point for this global anti-government sentiment. He also touches on free speech restrictions, drawing parallels between historical financial suppression in Europe and today's broader censorship trends. Regarding U.S.-China trade tensions, Armstrong explains that tariffs are often misunderstood, citing historical context from the 1930s to show they don't cause economic collapses but can lead to trade wars. He critiques media coverage for sensationalism, particularly Bloomberg's recent claims about market corrections, arguing these panic-inducing narratives mislead investors. Armstrong also delves into Trump's policies, questioning his understanding of general economic and suggesting that lower corporate taxes could boost competitiveness. However, he warns against blaming Trump for broader economic declines, which he attributes to global trends rather than individual leaders. The discussion shifts to gold's role as a safe haven during geopolitical instability, with Armstrong emphasizing its historical correlation with war and political uncertainty. He is the former chairman of Princeton Economics International Ltd. He is best known for his economic predictions based on the Economic Confidence Model, which he developed. At age 13, Armstrong began working at a coin and stamp dealership in Pennsauken, New Jersey. After buying a bag of rare Canadian pennies, he became a millionaire in 1965 at the age of 15. He continued to work on weekends through high school, finding the real-world exciting, for this was the beginning of the collapse of the gold standard. Armstrong progressed from gold coin investments to following commodity prices for precious metals. In 1973, he began publishing commodity market predictions as a hobby, and in 1983 Armstrong began accepting paid subscriptions for a forecast newsletter. Tom welcomes back Martin Armstrong from Armstrong Economics for a discussion on the never ending news cycle. Martin begins by reflecting on the current political landscape, comparing it to the challenges faced during the first Trump administration. Armstrong highlights how President Trump has learned from past mistakes, particularly in assembling a cabinet that is not tied to the "deep state." This shift, Armstrong argues, is crucial for enacting meaningful reforms. The conversation then turns to government waste and corruption, with Armstrong referencing specific examples of misallocated funds, such as support for a transgender opera in Columbia. He emphasizes the importance of transparency and accountability, especially given the staggering levels of debt that governments worldwide are accumulating. Armstrong warns that the current system is unsustainable and that a reckoning is inevitable when buyers for new debt no longer exist. Armstrong also delves into the global reserve currency status of the US dollar, explaining how its dominance emerged post-World War II. He discusses the manipulation of economic indicators, such as CPI adjustments, to hide the true state of fiscal health. Armstrong's firm has successfully forecasted economic trends and events, including Brexit, by focusing on raw data rather than political narratives. The interview then shifts to geopolitical tensions, particularly the conflict in Ukraine. Armstrong critiques the handling of the crisis, arguing that it is being used as a diversion from deeper economic problems. He suggests that the war serves the interests of certain European leaders who seek to weaken Russia and strengthen their own power. Armstrong also touches on the potential consequences of tariffs and trade policies under Trump, warning against the risks of contagion in global markets. He further discusses the Epstein files controversy, suggesting that the case is more about political manipulation than mere scandal. Armstrong posits that Epstein's activities were likely part of a broader espionage or blackmail scheme involving high-profile individuals. Finally, Armstrong offers advice to listeners, urging them to pay attention to developments in Europe and the flow of capital during times of conflict. He emphasizes the importance of understanding global economic trends and avoiding the pitfalls of mainstream media narratives. The interview concludes with a call for critical thinking and awareness of the complex interplay between politics, economics, and global security. This week, Denise and Josh sit down with Joe Argento, co-owner of Mama's Meatballs & Pizzeria in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Joe grew up in the pizza business and began working at his grandmother's shop at age 8. Joe went on to own his own pizzeria, but was ready to switch directions. His wife, Katherine, wanted to be in the food truck business, but Joe still wanted a storefront of some kind. As luck would have it, an existing restaurant/food truck became available in Pennsauken. While, at first, the business functioned as a sandwich shop, Joe and Katherine quickly knew that pizza needed to be part of the equation. Mama's Meatballs & Pizzeria has an expanded menu and drives creativity with offerings, like turning jumbo garlic knots into sliders. The delivery and carryout shop serves New York-style, Sicilian and Grandma pizza, an assortment of sandwiches and five different meatballs. We talk shop in a casual conversation. We even explore when Joe and Katherine decided to reverse course on expanding the business into a neighboring storefront and honed in on the future of the business to one day own the space and build his dream kitchen and storefront, include dine-in seating. Learn more about Mama's Meatballs & Pizzeria at https://www.mamasmeatballs.com/ and on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/mamas.meatballs/.

Tom welcomes back Martin Armstrong, CEO & Chairman of Armstrong Economics Ltd. Martin is a hedge fund manager, international advisor and author. Martin speaks out on US's involvement in Ukraine, the risks around Ukraine joining NATO, and the effects of deglobalization. He is also concerned about energy scarcity, inflation, and the capabilities of coming digital currency systems. He believes the US was the instigator of the conflict in Ukraine and never intended to honor the Minsk agreement. World leaders are irresponsible and that the US has never told the truth about any war. Martin suggests that the new reserve currency will be digital, and that the US is heading towards stagflation rather than recession. He believes that the US is heading for war, with the neocons in full control, and that the 2024 election will not be fair. There is too much at stake in politics today. We opened the hood on Food Farms & Chefs by introducing all of you to Dan Hernandez, who owns and operates the Spirit of San Juan food truck. Hernandez' latin-based food truck offers a variety of Puerto Rican cuisine, including empanadas, alcapurrias, and his famous (and very popular) Pernil Asado. We first met him at an event, and it was love at first bite! So of course we had to have him on so that all of our fans could fall in love with the Spirit of San Juan too! We then hit the road and visited the hugely successful Mama's Meatballs, which is owned by Joe & Katherine Argento. The couple, who had previously owned a restaurant in Lebanon, PA, were looking for a new location with room to grow. They found that opportunity in Pennsauken, NJ when Mama's Meatball's previous owner was looking to sell, and the Argento's family was ready to take on the business. Since doing so they've made the meatballs their own and expanded upon the menu--creating delicious additions that fans of Mama's Meatballs immediately loved. Of course we can't fill you up with food and not offer something to quench your thirst. That's why we had co-owner of Spellbound Brewing, John Companick, join us on the show! Companick and his partners opened the doors to Spellbound Brewing in 2014 after years of homebrewing and contemplation--and it was evident that New Jersey's love of beer has been brewing for a long time! Several years and awards later, Spellbound Brewing is gearing up to celebrate their anniversary this October 8th with a plethora of the craft beers on tap, live music, and a lot of fun to be had! So if you have a love of food, flavor, and libations--keep your dials tuned to Food, Farms, & Chefs Radio Show to hear all about the Spirit of San Juan's food truck, Mama's Meatballs, and wash it all down with a bounty of brews from Spellbound Brewing!

Tom welcomes back to the show, Martin Armstrong. Martin discusses his economic confidence model and his study of historic economic patterns. Studying all the historic booms and busts, he developed a model around investor expectations. Every inflation wave is different, and this one won't be fixed by raising rates. This one is based on shortages and not a speculative boom. They don't want to admit that the lockdowns started the collapse in the supply chain. There is no economic understanding with politicians as they all operate with blinders. We're going to see more unrest in Third World countries due to energy costs. People will vote from their recent experience. When Trump became elected, populism became the enemy. Politicians are threatened by nationalism. The truth is, most of them hate democracy. The heads of the E.U. are appointed and governments in that union are subservient. It doesn't really matter who gets elected. These people would love to impose a similar system here in North America. The W.E.F. is discussing a debt default while making it sound like they have the public's best interest at heart. Publicly, the West is waging war against the Russian people with the objective of overthrowing Putin. This theory has never worked. All that occurs is the population blames the West, and this tends to improve his popularity. The causes of hyperinflation are usually fairly complex. For Germany in 1922 they couldn't repay their reparations, so they confiscated 10 percent of everyone's assets for a bond. However, this action caused citizens to rapidly diversify out of the state currency. Usually, hyperinflations are the result of a loss of confidence. He describes how the capture of a Roman emperor created a loss of confidence in the government and began the debasing of the currency. Central banks and politicians are surrounded by academics that believe in economics like MMT. Their understanding is limited, and therefore their policies will fail. He discusses his model and how it's indicating a shift in the types of government from Republics to more direct democracies around 2032. Republics represent their own self-interest, and that eventually is their downfall. He expects another collapse around 2032. This episode features Jamie Arking of Roger Wilco Wine and Spirits. The legend is that in the 1950's there was an airport close by. There was a pilot there that had a small liquor store at the airport. The business grew to the locations that you can find them today. In 1984 Jamie's father and uncle purchased the business. A great explosion took place. His first job , at 11 years old, was bagging ice. He took off, explored the United States, to blaze his own path. Until one day in 2009 his father called him back into the store. Jamie shares that the customer service has always been the most important focus. The other goal was to have a huge selection and variety of products. In this episode, Jamie shares how he is working to source products through the supply chain issues. We talk about the Wilco Whiskey Group and discuss the day to day challenges wine and spirits business. 1001 Rte 73, Pennsauken, NJ 08110 - (856) 665-3456 - www.rwilco.com - Facebook Highlights from our discussion: Castle & Key Distillery Corona Hennessy Wild Turkey WTSO - Wines 'Til Sold out Whyte & Mackay, LTD The Dalmore Whisky Knob Creek - Rogers Knob Barrel Bourbon Blanton's Bourbon Esslinger's Beer

Tom welcomes a new guest to the show, Martin Armstrong. Martin discusses his computer programming background and financial experience trading along with his A.I. approaches to generating unbiased economic reports. He discusses the failing European politics and economics and why their global agendas are becoming an enormous burden on the world. The critical issue today is faith in government and the consequences when this collapses. People in Europe are hoarding cash, which is driving the ECB to implement a digital currency. Martin believes the real agenda during this election is between Trump and globalist plans like Agenda 2030. The United States still has the largest economy and is still able to support it's bonds. However, debt problems in Europe are quite severe, and they can no longer raise rates. This is why European interests are promoting a "Great Reset" and the idea of "You'll own nothing, and you will be happy." They want to eliminate all debts and, in doing so, will destroy pensions. They plan to replace these pensions with Universal Basic Income. He discusses why pegging anything to the business cycle is problematic, including gold. You can't fix something and then have inflation because that leads to a massive divergence between exchange rates and reality. He discusses how the lockdowns have been devastating on the middle class and even worse for the lower classes. Many can't work from home, but they still have bills to pay. He says, "They are using the Coronavirus as an excuse to crush the economy." Politicians around the world are all repeating the same talking points. He says, "These ideas will fail as they have never worked in history… Once they have unleased these policies, things can only get worse." He outlines why green energy is impractical to supply all the world's energy needs. Modern economic policies create untold effects and imbalances across many sectors. He remains concerned that unrest and instability between nations could lead to wars after 2024. As more people question what is occurring and government confidence is lost, we can recover quicker. In 1973, he began publishing commodity market predictions as a hobby, and in 1983 Armstrong began accepting paid subscriptions for a forecast newsletter. Parker Luthman currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island, where he attended Johnson & Wales University with a focus on learning about business and entrepreneurship. Developing a love for the restaurant industry while in high school, Parker's original intent was to graduate with his B.B.A. and then enroll in the university's Culinary Arts Program. While on breaks throughout college, he would seasonally work in the kitchen at Square 1682, the restaurant attached to the Hotel Palomar in Philadelphia, which was only a 25 minute train ride from his hometown in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Initially, Parker started as a dishwasher and then quickly worked his way up to prep cook and then line cook in a matter of months. This was accomplished by learning the skills on the job from his team and literally being thrown into the fire. However, while he was a senior at JWU, he decided to focus more on the beverage side of the industry since he was quickly burning out as a line cook and honestly wanted to make more money. Parker's next move was to became the first ever intern at the Eddy, a small cocktail bar in Downcity Providence. Through hard work and perseverance over the last 4 years, he has successfully worked his way up from Bar Prep to Head Bartender. Throughout his career, Parker has had the chance to be a part of the opening team of Durk's BBQ, the Eddy's sister restaurant,. He has also managed his own cocktail program at The Dean Bar, located in the historic Dean Hotel as their Head Bartender. He has had the chance to travel the country for various leadership opportunities at festivals like Tales of the Cocktail, Camp Runamok, and Thirst Boston, while also representing himself and his city as a national finalist at various cocktail competitions. Since the effects of COVID-19, his recent focus has been on structuring an environment for new and passionate bartenders. The goal is to help them take control of their own education and providing them with guidance as they grow in the industry while also creating an overall conversation on the importance of maintaining a safe space, especially for members of marginalized communities. I have to say that Mary and I had a special and fantastic time with Anna Lovern. Like I said in the interview I feel so honored to meet and talk to Worship Cafe guests and I did fell a connection to Anna and “Regenerated Soul”, her music has a special and wonderful sound and like Mary said this show was a little nostalgic and sentimental for me personally. First in the sense of Anna being near Pennsauken, I grew up about 5 minutes from that area and Atco Dragway. I used to go there (Atco) every weekend to actually watch the funny cars race, the jet cars take off, yes Ken used to do that, secondly Anna’s songs have a sound that I loved growing up and listening to harder rock music. So yes I enjoyed interviewing her AND the sound is close to who I was growing up. Of course add a great message and songs of personal experience and the musical experience of Regenerated Soul and Anna really speaks to me. I love how Anna has that voice of a modern soul and rock female singer, I just feel God is using her in a special calling with the music. A way to reach people who need healing that are rockers. I actually have four songs I really really love, “Troubled Times”, “Born Again” (and yes I love Mary’s passionate plea for More Cowbell !!!, but I do love cowbells), “Holy Sinners”, and “Live Your Life for Him” (my ultimate Fav) Way to go Anna and Regenerated Soul, four favorite songs from me, and thanks for the nostalgic memories from my past in musical style. I truly pray that your ministry grows and grows in 2018 and you really touch a lot of people through your music and ministry. The five songs that we had back stories to are listed below: 1. In this episode of Memphis Type History: The Podcast, you’ll find out how the drive-in movie theater started, hear Rebecca’s sister tell her childhood memories of the drive in, and answer the question that has been the source of many contentious debates in Memphis for years: which side of the highway was the Summer Avenue Drive in originally located? Richard Hollingshead starts the Drive-In, of course, for his mom. As a sales manager for his father’s company, Whiz Auto Products, Hollingshead understood the automobile and society’s love for cars. He also understood some people, like his mom, had a hard time finding a comfortable seat in the town’s lavish theater. Thus, he worked on an idea to create a movie watching experience in the comfort of your own car. Mounting a 1928 Kodak projector on the hood of his car, tying sheets to trees, and with his radio, he practiced his clever project in his own driveway. In May of 1933 he received a patent for his concept and opened the first Drive-In Theater on Tuesday, June 6 of the same year in Pennsauken, New Jersey. At some point between the late 1950s to early 60s around 4,000 Drive-In theaters existed across the country. One of the largest was in Copiague, New York which provided space for 2,500 parked cars, a kid’s playground and a full service restaurant. Apparently, there were several factors in the decline of the drive-in. First, the widespread adoption of daylight savings made it difficult for the movies to start at a reasonable hour. Secondly, the oil crisis in the seventies made people more unlike to do anything in the car if they could avoid it. Still, drive-ins have managed to survive into the current era but there are fewer than 500 in existence today. GROWING UP AT THE DRIVE-IN Rebecca's sister actually has some vivid memories of going to the movie theater, especially the drive in where we grew up in South Texas. The whole experience of bringing food, packing into the car, seeing some new and exciting film, was an escape from what could sometimes feel like an otherwise dull and restricting working class lifestyle. It should be noted in the podcast Rebecca's sister says she was born in 1979 which is true even though she tries to sound more like 79 years old to make the memory more genuine. Plus they sound almost exactly alike so hopefully this helps distinguish them. THE SUMMER AVENUE DRIVE IN GREAT DEBATE That brings us to the Summer Avenue Drive-In. If you talk to many Memphians, especially those that have lived here for a long time, you’ll run into questions about what side of the highway it was on originally: west or east? It turns out that’s a trick question because it was neither on the east or west side of the highway because at the time there was no highway! The current drive-in did move into its current location, across the highway to the west after the construction of the highway in 1966. The original drive-in was said to have the largest marquee sign in the South and the second largest car capacity at more than 600. We also learned the founder of Holiday Inn, Kemmons Wilson, was one of the original owners of the movie theater and he intended for there to be a skating rink directly in front of the screen. In addition, the original theater offered services many of us would love to have access to, especially moms, like warming a bottle of milk for a baby! Although the skating rink may or may not have actually ever been used and several of the other big ideas for the theater were never realized, it was still very popular and entertained crowds for many years. It did close and was eventually demolished before the new Summer Drive-In opened in 1966. Caitlin and Rebecca went to see a movie at the current Summer Drive-In several years ago. You’ll have to listen to the podcast to get the whole story, though. You’ll also hear about someone who may be living in an apartment above the concession stand. The Summer Drive-In now remains a popular spot for families, teenagers, and just about anyone who loves movies in Memphis. You can listen to the movie audio through a radio station that tunes in once you drive onto the lot and the sign is characterized by vintage sculptures and a classic Beetle car above the marquee. This week is a three-fer during the Summer Lovin’ series as Ron and Andrea explore a few restaurants sprinkled throughout South Jersey. They started at Cooper House in Pennsauken where they had a fantastic buffalo cauliflower appetizer but can’t seem to agree as to whether the desserts were any good. They then headed down to Cape May for an impressive dinner at Black Duck despite the douchebags at the table next to theirs. Finally, they wrap up the weekend at Ron’s favorite summertime spot, Baia in Somers Point where they were both pleasantly surprised by the food. Andrea also regrets her decision to drink from a bag of wine all day while on a boat and pays the price with a hangover while podcasting.

CHERRY HILL, NJ -- December 18, 2005 -- Just a week before the beginning of Hanukkah, Temple Emanuel in Cherry Hill, N.J., the largest Reform synagogue in New Jersey, has broken the world's record for dreidel spinning, with 541 dreidels spun simultaneously for at least ten seconds. This is an audio news release from the event. Stereo MP3 audio file, 1:45 length, standard outcue. Radio stations are welcome to use this audio report. Please email steve@lubetkin.net with broadcast usage report. Background Information According to the Guinness Book of World's Records, the previous world's record of 535 people simultaneously spinning dreidels was set by University of Maryland Hillel in 1999. Today's dreidel spin record involved 578 participants, including – in an ecumenical demonstration of interfaith cooperation -- a contingent of students from Bishop Eustace Preparatory School, a private Catholic school in Pennsauken. “We are absolutely thrilled that we've broken the world's record for dreidel spinning,? said Rabbi Debbie Cohen, director of life long learning at the synagogue and organizer of the world record dreidel spin. “More importantly, we gave members of our temple and the surrounding community an exciting, fun opportunity to come together in a playful way and get to know our synagogue a little better.? The dreidel spin world record is subject to acceptance by the Guinness editors. The final count was supervised by Harry Platt, a councilman and former mayor of Voorhees, and Steven Burkett, a member of M'kor Shalom Synagogue in Cherry Hill and immediate past president of the regional council of the Union for Reform Judaism. Founded in Cherry Hill (then Delaware Township) in 1950, Temple Emanuel, a member of the Union for Reform Judaism, serves some 1,000 families from Camden, Gloucester and Burlington Counties. # # # #
