In this episode, John discusses: The impact of past experiences on present financial choicesHow different beliefs and behaviors shape relationshipsThe equation of love and money in relationshipsThree tensions of love and money and practical steps to address themKey Takeaways:In navigating the intersection of love and money, understanding the impact of past experiences on present financial behaviors is crucial, as your beliefs and behaviors are shaped by early experiences.Recognizing that “Love + Money / Our Differences = Tension”—such as differing values, communication challenges, and struggles over financial control—addressing them wisely can lead to progress, emphasizing shared values and fostering open communication. To overcome financial tensions, couples can find common ground by identifying shared priorities and values, engaging in conversations about the broader topics of money (rather than specific issues), and defining and involving each other in financial roles and responsibilities.Wisdom from scripture underscores the importance of avoiding the love of money, pursuing righteousness and contentment, and providing guidance on how to navigate love and money tensions in relationships.“Tomorrow is Valentine's Day, and I pray that it is filled with love: love for God, love for others, and love for those closest to you.” CLICK ON THE LINKS BELOW MORE MONEY MADE FAITHFUL!VISIT MONEY MADE FAITHFUL: https://moneymadefaithful.com/GET FREE RESOURCES when you join THE HUB: https://moneymadefaithful.com/resource-library-access/Landing-pageBOOK A WORKSHOP & DETAILS: https://moneymadefaithful.com/money-made-faithful-workshop-2/Landing-pageINVITE JOHN TO SPEAK at your conference, church, or event: https://moneymadefaithful.com/servicesSPECIAL SAVINGS ON JOHN'S BOOK, 'He Spends She Spends' and the small group guide: https://moneymadefaithful.com/shopFOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK: @MoneyMadeFaithfulFOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM: @MoneyMadeFaithfulIf this blessed you today, please Subscribe, Leave a Review, and Share with someone who you believe will benefit from this message!

We call them 'striving' readers and writers, rather than struggling. But every teacher and leader want to find better ways to support these students in their journeys. Teachers need a reliable, trusted source for research that works in the classroom. To help with this, literacy expert Sharon Callen talks about an article from Foundation For Learning And Literacy: Principles for working with struggling readers and writers - advice for teachers across primary and secondary schools (August 2020).Principles from this article will help teachers adjust their literacy teaching for individual students who are experiencing some difficulty with reading and writing. The principles are based on what research tells us about struggling readers and writers. All teachers are teachers of literacy. Teachers in the secondary sector are discipline experts and bring their knowledge of disciplinary literacy to support all students to gain expertise in that discipline and transfer this learning to other areas. This discussion covers:What students can do and build on their strengthsHow to promote high levels of student engagementHow to provide predictability and routineInviting students to make choicesHow to provide opportunity to talk with peers about reading and writingIncreasing the number of high-quality texts which are exemplary for their genre that students encounterRead aloudsHow to ensure the students engage in successful reading practiceTeaching students to use effective strategies in their reading and writingScaffolding learners into texts beyond their independent reading abilityIncreasing the time students spend writing about things that are personally meaningfulProviding extra support to help students perform well in front of the classEnjoy the episode, and let us know thoughts and feedback in our Facebook Group. Knowing thyself...how many people do you know can be described that way? Is it even possible to know oneself? It is clear to me that much of the world is not even interested in going down that path. Knowing myself is something I am striving for and is a never-ending quest, and this quality in Tom is something I greatly admire. Seriously, can you imagine what the state of the world be like if we were all on a mission of knowing ourselves? It might look a little different...There is so much we can cover with Tom, so I will definitely be having him back on the show. And though we really focus on 'knowing thyself' toward the end of the podcast, the whole conversation really applies to that topic. This is what Tom gets into in this interview:Inner wealth vs. outer wealthHow getting to the 'bottom of the barrel' led to his transformation through taking 100% responsibility and letting go of victimhoodHow Tom found that the root cause of his 10 to 15 years of chronic fatigue was mostly non-physical, exacerbated by making poor choicesHow the lack of early bonding in his life led to a predominantly 'yang' or masculine natureHow the state of the physical body reflects the state of the mental/emotional/spiritual bodiesHow forgiveness and gratitude are major aspects to overcoming traumaTom's basic tips around nutrition and eating habitsThe power of our minds to create dis-ease or thriving healthHow we constantly accept 'offers' that harm usTom's key pillars for cultivating thriving healthWhy most people have the 'need' to get colds and flus and what these sicknesses actually areHow so-called microbes and viruses work to keep up us healthy and restore health when we are overloaded with toxins'Working in" vs. working outHow your fat may be protecting youTom's definition of 'knowing thyself'Some key indicators that reveal how far you are down the path of getting to know yourselfHow Tom feels that had there been a right of passage for him in his teen years, his life would have taken a different pathand more gems...enjoy!To learn more about Tom and how you can access his wisdom and offerings:https://tombarnett.tv/https://www.facebook.com/tombarnett.byronhttps://t.me/tombarnetthttps://www.healme.health/----------------------------------------------------------Are you concerned about the future of our children? The world needs more conscious parents. “I started Green at Home by accident. It was not something that I intentionally knew; that I was going to launch my own business.”— Emma RohmannWhen it comes to creating a life that will fulfill you, passion is everything.Running a business focused only on making money will eventually just feel like a job — it will be hard for you to show up, let alone show up as a leader.A business focused on money and passion? That’s the key to fulfillment. In 2015, Green at Home founder Emma Rohmann left her corporate job to pursue her passion. And it all started with a blog. Emma was working on a research project to discover how to make healthier choices for herself and her family while on maternity leave with her second child. Her blog served as a record of this research and a space where she could make sense of the information she learned. She realized that she wasn’t the only mother with these interests, and that there was a hunger out there for information about green, healthy, eco-friendly products. So, how did she move from blog to business? She shared her posts in Facebook moms groups, keeping track of what resonated. She did in-person workshops and networked with moms, learning their questions or struggles and addressing those topics on the blog. This organic process led to partnerships and collaborations. She made the leap to full-time entrepreneur when she realized that she was burning the candle at both ends. As a former project manager, she found the uncertainty terrifying. But she knew she needed to take the plunge. Now, she wishes she had done it sooner.Emma learned a lot through her entrepreneurial journey and her search to find the intersection between passion and revenue.Hear all about her journey in the latest episode of the Road to Seven podcast. In this episode, you’ll discover: What you need to learn and invest in when you’re starting your own businessThe surprising health impacts of common household products — and where to look for information on healthier choicesHow to avoid being discouraged by controversy and negativity About Emma RohmannEmma Rohmann is an environmental engineer, mom of 2, and founder of Green at Home. I've known Josh for a few years though social media and I've watched his journey over the years and I'm always amazed by his constant resiliency. He has had many challenges along his journey but they never stop him, if anything he just gets back up stronger He started cycling because he was experiencing depression and was looking for something to turn his life around. In 2015 he found himself in a very dark space after splitting up with his long-term girlfriend, which led to him attempting suicide by intentionally crashing his car at high speed on the motorway near his home. After surviving this attempt, he knew he had to do something different and try to turn his life around. He attended a talk in Edinburgh where Sir Chris Hoy was speaking, and his story really inspired me. He made the decision that he would get into cycling and try and cycle around the world. This was how it began In April 2019, Josh set off from his home in Scotland to cycle around the world. Making good time and finding great adventures along the way, Josh was a mere 2000 miles away from completing his journey, when in December he was hit by a truck while cycling along Highway 36 near Temple in Texas, where he sustained life threatening injuries. However just nine months later, he has set a new record for the North Coast 500 – riding the 516-mile route in the Scottish Highlands in a little over 31 hours to beat the previous record by less than 5 minutes. His mission is to win the Tour De France in 2026. Remember where you heard it first! Some key points from our interview:How he managed to find the strength to keep going despite having suicidal thoughtsHow listening to a talk by Chris Hoy motivated him to cycle around the world despite being depressed, overweight and unfitHow cycling changed his outlook in life and helped him to give up his unhealthy life choicesHow he's always been very honest and authentic with both his cycling and mental health journey on social media You can find more information about Josh here: https://www.joshquigley92.com* * * *"Unbroken: Healing Through Storytelling" features individuals who have all triumphed after adversity and have not just bounced back in life, but forward and are now making a difference for others.Hosted by Madeleine Black, the show will share stories of all the amazing people Madeleine has met on her own journey as an author/speaker and these stories will heal, motivate, inspire and bring hope when they share their wisdom and knowledge with her.She really believes in the power that comes when we share our stories, that in fact we are not story tellers but story healers. We are aware there are many factors may dictate our food choices… availability, means, sustainability, convenience etc. But, when it comes down to it, we know that both, nutritional value and taste, play a big role when it comes to choosing what you cook up in the kitchen or even choose on the go. This week we have an in-depth discussion behind what drives our food choices and how important both nutritional value and taste are. We discuss… What drives our own food choicesHow this has changed growing upWhether its worth eating something you don't like just for the perceived health benefitsEating purely for flavourand how intuitive eating might help you find the balance between these two factors. On today's wonderful episode, I'm speaking with the lovely and talented Connie Clendenan, author of ... Choices: How to Improve Your Relationships and Life For 30 years, Connie was the Chief Executive Officer of Valley Teen Ranch, a non-profit, child-welfare organization based in Fresno, California. Since retiring, she has worked as a consultant for social service and probation agencies, as well as leading workshops and retreats, delivering keynote addresses, and training others to use the principles in this book. She is single and lives in Fresno. Healthy relationships begin with us. Before we can develop healthy relationships, we have to take an honest look at our choices, desires, words, actions, attitudes, and habits to identify areas for which we have to take responsibility. When we do that, we get so much more from our lives and relationships than we may have thought possible. As you read this book, there will be opportunities for you to do some self-examination, as well as to take a risk and solicit feedback from your closest friends and family members to compare your self-perceptions and the perceptions others have of you. I hope the concept presented in this book will prevent you from a journey of broken relationships, pain, and agony. When we are broken, What's Next? So, if you want to know more about How to Improve Your Relationships and Life, then stay tuned for this episode of the Daily Authors Podcast with Connie Clendenan ... “Are You Distracted? God calls us to be fully present to the moment at hand, but so often we are lost in another world, lost in the past, lost in the future, lost in our anguish, lost even in our joys. Or perhaps we just get lost in the latest silly game on our smart phones while someone or some task needs our full attention. (Thibodeaux,2015). What are those distractions keeping you from being present to the moment at hand impacting your relationship with Jesus Christ? How are distractions preventing you from experiencing life as God planned for you? “Distraction” definition - “a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else. synonyms - diversion, interruption, disturbance, intrusion, interference, obstruction, hindrance John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. What “Boundaries have you established for your life that is allowing you to make healthy Choices?” How are you dealing with your distractions? Mark 10:46-52 (CEB) 46 Jesus and his followers came into Jericho. As Jesus was leaving Jericho, together with his disciples and a sizable crowd, a blind beggar named Bartimaeus, Timaeus’ son, was sitting beside the road. 47 When he heard that Jesus of Nazareth was there, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, show me mercy!” 48 Many scolded him, telling him to be quiet, but he shouted even louder, “Son of David, show me mercy!” 49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him forward.” They called the blind man, “Be encouraged! Get up! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his coat to the side, he jumped up and came to Jesus. 51 Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said, “Teacher, I want to see.” 52 Jesus said, “Go, your faith has healed you.” At once he was able to see, and he began to follow Jesus on the way. God calls us to be fully present to the moment at hand Expose Your life to Gods’ Examination. Be Intentional (Be willing, open and vulnerable to God ) Be Strategic (Create a Spiritual Formation Plan for your life. Email me and I will email you a Spiritual Formation Plan Document) Be Accountable! (Prayer Partners. Men to Men, Women to Women.) Proverbs 28:13 Those who hide their sins won’t succeed, but those who confess and give them up will receive mercy. 1. Lost in the past - (What things in your past haven’t you placed on His altar?) 2. Lost in the future - (Luke 12:22 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Therefore, I say to you, don’t worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. 3. Lost in anguish - (Matthew 11:30 My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.”) 4. Lost even in our joys - (Declare that everything You own belongs to God. Luke 12:34 Where your treasure is, there your heart will be too.) “The Maximum You are willing to give, will always determine the Minimum You get back.” God has a plan for Your life! Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. “Boundaries define us. They define what is me and what is not me. A boundary shows me where I end and someone else begins, leading me to a sense of ownership.” (Cloud,p.29) “The inability to set appropriate boundaries at appropriate times with the appropriate people can be very destructive.” (Cloud, p.25) “Distraction” definition - “a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else. In this episode we tell the truth about time. We throw out the old and dated conceptions of “time management” and look at how time really works. We explore the fundamental way you must flip your approach to time so that you can focus on what really matters in life. We look at how you can become an artist manipulating time at your will - stretching your best moments so that they last longer and ruthlessly removing the things that clutter your life. If you feel pressed for time - like there is never enough - and want to figure out how to create time for what really matters - listen to this episode with our guest Laura Vanderkam. Laura Vanderkam is the author of several time management and productivity books. Her TED talk titled “How To Gain Control of Your Free Time” has been viewed over 5 million times and she is the co-host of the podcast Best of Both Worlds. Her work has appeared in publications including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, and Fortune.Does time management work? Is time management a concept with too much baggage associated with it to even be meaningful? It’s not about cramming so much stuff into your life - it’s about focusing on the most important things. Fundamentally flip your approach - removing as much as possible is much more important than cramming as much as possible into your dayPeople who were highly relaxed around their time had a tendency to plan “mini adventures” in their lives Putting more valuable stuff into our lives makes time more memorable. If you want to feel like you have more time you need to create more memories. Can we become “artists manipulating time” to stretch the best moments so that they last longer?Anticipation is powerful - starting savoring before it startsBe as present as possible, notice details, think about how you might describe it to someoneTell the story of what happened - every time you tell it you get pleasure from itCommemorate it with artifacts (ticket stubs, t-shirts, etc)Play the same song over and over again to encode that song to a specific memory or experienceCreate as many memories as possible - more memories makes time expand Time is highly elastic - it stretches to accommodate what we need or want to fit into it Time management is not about shaving extra hours out of every day - it’s about selecting the right prioritiesIf you’ve ever binged something on Netflix - you found extra time because you had something that was a big priorityLack of Time = Lack of Priorities “Reflective Activities” like journaling, meditating, praying - stepping back from life and thinking about life - people with the highest time perception and time management scores did these every other day, the lowest scores people never did itPart of feeling relaxed about your time is knowing when and how you’re spending your leisure timeLetting go of expectations is a great time management strategy Planning your weeks before you’re in them is a great strategy to make time for your priorities FIRSTMake a 3 category priority list:CareerRelationshipsSelfEach one of those categories is key!!A great tactic for setting your short to medium term goals - writing a “Performance Review” (for next year)Look at this list all the timeIt can start informing your schedule choicesHow do we create more effective morning and evening routines?Homework: Track your time for a week (if you can’t track it for a day or two)Homework: Plan a “mini adventure” during the work day or after work this week - do something different, put a little adventure into your life Learn more about your ad choices. The idea of hiding your poor food choices from your kids or even your friends just becomes impossible because it sends a few confusing messages: 1 - why when I see this person only eat healthy are they still in an unhealthy body or the other being 2 - they simply know that unhealthy behaviours and choices go on behind closed doors (in secret even) and if you do have kids, you'll know, that somehow, they know and inevitably, they'll copy you. Thus we have to change the food culture at home by embodying healthy self respect and self love before we can expect our kids and even social groups to warm to the idea. How to begin down that path is what we talk about on this one. In this episode we cover:How to navigate the confusing food and diet culture Why it's necessary to let negative emotions out to be in control of your food choicesHow protein consumption helps manage satiation and hunger***Want to apply for the Emotional Eating and Weight Loss program?
