fWotD Episode 2763: Susanna Hoffs Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Wednesday, 27 November 2024 is Susanna Hoffs.Susanna Lee Hoffs (born January 17, 1959) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actress. She, Debbi Peterson, and Vicki Peterson founded the Bangles in 1981. Their debut album, All Over the Place, (1984) was acclaimed by critics but sold poorly. Their second album, Different Light, (1986) was also warmly received by critics and was certified double-platinum in 1987 and triple-platinum in 1994. It contained the US number two single "Manic Monday" written by Prince and the number one single "Walk Like an Egyptian". The group's third album, Everything (1988), included the US top ten charting "In Your Room" and number one "Eternal Flame", both written by Hoffs with Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. Hoffs was lead vocalist on five of the seven Columbia singles by the Bangles, which contributed to a public perception that she was a lead singer, even though all four members took lead vocals across their output. Following tensions including resentment at Hoffs's perceived leadership and the stress of touring, the band split in 1989. It reformed in 1999 and released the albums Doll Revolution (2003) and Sweetheart of the Sun (2011).Hoff's first solo album, When You're a Boy (1991), was followed by Susanna Hoffs (1996). Neither of the releases proved to be as popular as the Bangles' albums, although they yielded two charting singles in the US, the top 40 hit "My Side of the Bed", and "All I Want". She recorded several songs for films and formed the faux-British 1960s band Ming Tea with Mike Myers and Matthew Sweet. Hoffs teamed with Sweet to produce Under the Covers, a series of cover song albums. Her 2012 album Someday was followed by two more cover albums Bright Lights (2021) and The Deep End (2023).Hoffs's first novel, This Bird Has Flown, a romantic comedy about a struggling musician, was published by Little Brown in 2023. It received favorable reviews, and Universal Pictures purchased the rights to the novel for a screen adaptation. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 01:06 UTC on Wednesday, 27 November 2024.For the full current version of the article, see Susanna Hoffs on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm generative Ruth.

'SUSANNA HOFFS BANGLES LEGEND THE LOST INTERVIEWS' Susanna Hoffs is the beautiful, talented & iconic vocalist for the commercially successful all- female pop/rock/new wave/ band ‘The Bangles.' Hoffs angelic and awe-inspiring vocals are definitive on such Bangles classics as …“Manic Monday” (1985 #2 US Billboard Hit), “Walk Like an Egyptian” (1986 #1 US Billboard Hit), “If She Knew What She Wants” (1986 #29 US Billboard Hit), “Hazy Shade of Winter” (1987 #2 US Billboard Hit), “Walking Down Your Street” (1987 #11 US Billboard Hit),“In Your Room” (1988 #5 US Billboard Hit), and the breathtaking “Eternal Flame” (1988 #1 US Billboard Hit). Hoffs is also ‘The Bangles' rhythm guitarist and songwriter. THE BANGS: After Susanna Hoffs graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, where she studied theatre, dance, and art, she headed back to Los Angeles and placed an ad in The Recycler, an LA based classifieds newspaper. A trio began to form with the addition of Sisters Vicky Peterson (vocals/guitars) and Debbi Peterson (vocals/drums) while subsequently adding Annette Zilinskas on bass. After short stints with names such as ‘The Colours' and ‘The Supersonic Bangs,' the newly formed all-girl band eventually settled on ‘The Bangs' while swiftly becoming a vital part of the Los Angeles Paisley Underground scene. The Bangs debut single “Getting Out of Hand” was released on their label DownKiddie Records and caught the attention of KROQ deejay Rodney Bingenheimer who repeatedly played the record on his show. THE BANGLES: ‘The Bangs' were auspiciously mandated to change their name so the group dropped ‘The' and added the letters ‘les' to form ‘Bangles,' a banner that would flourish into one of the greatest all-female groups in rock and roll history. In 1982, under new manager Miles Copeland, The Bangles supported The English Beat on a UK tour. In 1983, the group made its first appearance on Dick Clark's American Bandstand. In 1984, ‘All Over the Place,' The Bangles first full-length album was released on CBS (Columbia) Records. Michael Steele had replaced Annette Zilinskas on bass. Steele began her music career as Micki Steele with The Runaways. ‘All Over the Place,' spawned the singles”Hero Takes a Fall,” and “Going Down to Liverpool” which featured Susanna's childhood neighbor and family friend Leonard Nimoy. The Bangles popularity escalated and was asked to join such acts as ‘Cyndi Lauper' and ‘Huey Lewis and the News' on tour.   Susanna Hoffs and The Bangles had captivated the attention of R&B/Pop/Funk/ music artist & songwriter ‘Prince.' Prince offered his penned single “Manic Monday” (1984) to The Bangles and the group promptly brought the tune into the recording studio. “Manic Monday” (1986) became The Bangles first big hit peaking at #2 on Billboards US Charts. Their second studio album ‘Different Light' (1986) produced by David Kahne peaked at #2 on the US Billboard Charts and is considered to be their most successful to date. Also in 1986, The Bangles opened for 'Queen' at Slane Castle, Ireland.   In 1987, “Walk like an Egyptian” won Best Video at the 15th Annual Music Awards and again at the 5th Annual American Video Awards. ‘Everything' (1988) The Bangles third studio album spawned the Top 5 Hit “In Your Room,” and their worldwide #1 single “Eternal Flame” penned by Susanna Hoffs, Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly. The Bangles attained a well-deserved hiatus throughout the 90's but returned with rock and roll vengeance in 1999. They released their fourth studio album entitled ‘Doll Revolution' in 2003. Bassist Michael Steele officially left The Bangles in 2005 and the band decided to use guest bassists while on tour. The Bangles most recent album ‘Sweetheart of the Sun' was released in 2011. In January of 2014, The Bangles returned to the legendary Whisky A GO GO to celebrate the club's 50th anniversary. SUSANNA HOFFS: In 1991, Susanna released her debut solo album entitled ‘When You're a Boy' produced by David Kahne. The album spawned the Top 40 hit single “My Side of the Bed.” The release featured such musical luminaries as John Entwistle, Jim Keltner, and Donovan. In 1996, Susanna Hoffs released her second studio album entitled ‘Susanna Hoffs.' Based on a Saturday Night Live stint in the early 1990's, Hoffs performed in the band ‘Ming Tea' with … Mike Myers, Matthew Sweet, Christopher Ward and Stuart Johnson. The SNL skit morphed into a three comedy film series ... Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999), and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002). Jay Roach, Susanna's husband directed the Austin Power series and ‘Ming Tea' performed in all three movies. In 2006, Susanna collaborated with alternative rocker Matthew Sweet under the name ‘Sid n Susie,' and released ‘Under the Covers' Volumes 1, 2 &3 featuring classic rock cover songs of the 60's,70's, and 80's. In 2012, Susanna released her critically-acclaimed studio album entitled ‘Someday.' Susanna's vocals are more radiant than ever. Hoffs collaborated with musical partner Andrew Brassell and producer Mitchell Froom on her best solo album to date. All the tracks are co-penned by Susanna Hoffs. Hoffs & Brassell continue to co-write music and hope to release a new album sometime in 2015. ‘Susanna Hoffs' performs at The Satellite in Los Angeles on July 18th with special guests Fred Armisen and Petra Haden. ‘The Bangles' kicked off their summer concert series on June 6th at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, California … click [Here] for a complete ‘Bangles' tour listing. Foreigner took  some significant time between their fourth and fifth studio albums.  Agent Provocateur was released in December of 1984 and made it to number 5 on the US charts.  Interestingly it hit number 1 in the UK, the only Foreigner album to do so.  It had a balance of heavier rock songs and lighter ballads, allowing the group to appeal to both male and female fans.At the time, Foreigner consisted of Lou Gramm on lead vocals and percussion, Mick Jones on guitars and keyboards, Rick Wills on bass, and Dennis Elliott on drums.  Jones and Gramm are the primary songwriters, and their differences fuel an excellent sound.  Unfortunately, writing credits around this album and its big hit, "I Want to Know What Love Is" would drive dissent.  Gramm would appear on the next Foreigner album, then would split from the group.Friend of the show John Lynch joins us in Bruce's absence, and Rob brings us this album. Tooth and NailThe track that leads off the album was co-written by Mick Jones and Lou Gramm.  While it received some airplay, this rocker is an underrated song from Foreigner.  The lyrics describe a boy considered to be not good enough for the girl, and the fight that he would wage to be worthy of her.Reaction to ActionThe third single from the album is a more hard rocking and energetic song than the first two singles.   Jones and Gramm share writing credits for this one as well.  The lyrics tell of an intriguing girl and how her actions prompt a "reaction to action."A Love in VainThis deeper cut has a heavy synthesizer sound and a lighter rock feel.  This song is also a good showcase of Gramm's vocals.I Want to Know What Love IsThis is the first single and big hit from the album.  It was the song that propelled the album, but drove a wedge between Gramm and Jones.  The track features a New Jersey choir backing Gramm's vocals.  Mick Jones spent a lot of time with the choir, freeing Gramm to sing as he wished.  This freedom, coupled with disputes about writing credits, would drive later decisions for Gramm to depart the group. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Main theme from "Monday Night Football"Broadcaster Howard Cosell would depart the booth, retiring this month. STAFF PICKS:Walking on a Thin Line by Huey Lewis & the News Brian starts off the staff picks with the fifth single off the album "Sports."  Despite its upbeat sound, the subject is more serious than many other Huey Lewis songs.  It tells of an American soldier trained as a sniper in the Vietnam War, and who must face his demons when he returns home.  Naughty Naughty by John Parr  Wayne features a debut single with a great synth beat.  English singer songwriter John Parr writes lyrics attempting a romantic conquest.  Like a Virgin by MadonnaJohn brings us pop phenomenon Madonna with her first number 1 hit.  The song's co-writer Billy Steinberg drew inspiration for this song from a new romantic interest during a time when he thought he would never get over a previous relationship.  The song would become a signature song for Madonna and an iconic song of the 80's.Black Cars by Gino VannelliRob continues the synth heavy trend in this podcast.  The title track from the album of the same name tells of an aging woman fighting the fading of her beauty.  "Black cars look better in the shade.  She slips her lipstick on right before she sleeps for all those phantom lovers in her dreams." INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:Junku by Herbie HancockThis song was played on Saturday Night Live when Hancock was the musical guest in the month.

Jim and Mike talk to Holly Hutchison about being  an early champion for such artists as Blink 182, Alanis Morissette, Muse and many others.   We talk about her career as an A&R person and her work with promoting and guiding new artists with her own company "AnR Girl".  Believe it or not Mike, Jim and Holly all graduated from the same High School! ABOUT HOLLY: Holly Hutchison Weinman is a business executive with over 34 years experience in the music and entertainment industry. She is a visionary with a passion for new ideas, branding and cultivating identity.   Her professional experience, A Level Repertoire, and deal making abilities draw largely from major recording corporation environments and highly successful mentors in New York City (Atlantic Records – a Time Warner Company) and Los Angeles (Capitol Records/EMI) where she held top ranking executive positions before venturing out on her own as a well respected, detail oriented and creative business owner. As an independent she has closed deals with Jason Flom Lava/Republic, Doug Morris former CEO Sony Music Entertainment and more.   Holly built her credibility through a consistent track record of identifying artists who have proven to be successful – some being Skid Row, Deftones, Alanis Morissette, Blink 182, Slipknot, Muse, Saliva, Bosson and Vega 4.   In Fall 2016, Holly took on management of the multi-platinum hard rock group SALIVA. She has enjoyed a long standing friendship with the group after being a first champion of SALIVA in 1998 while she was an A&R Executive at Capitol Records and the band were looking for a major label home. Unfortunately, Capitol Records did not sign SALIVA but the rockers went on to have a successful career at Island Records under music experts Rob Stevenson, Jeff Fenster and Lyor Cohen. Holly would remain a friend, business ally and mentor over the course of the next 18 years. In the two years of management, she doubled the group's gross income, released an independent single that has accumulated over 14 million streams through her marketing and landed Saliva a deal with Megaforce/Orchard/Sony Music Entertainment.   The recording studio is a second home to Holly. She has extensive A&R experience that covers all aspects of album production and song selection for pop, rock and rap genres. She has worked with top multi platinum and Grammy award winning producers, mixers and songwriters such as Timbaland, Bob Marlette (Shinedown, Red Sun Rising), Jimmy Douglas, Peter Mokran, Ron Aniello, Josh Abraham, Al Sutton (Greta Van Fleet, Kid Rock), Michael Brauer (Coldplay), Dave Way (Christina Aguilera), Diane Warren, Billy Steinberg, Monty Powell (Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts), Jack Kugell, Kirsti Manna (“Austin” Blake Shelton) and Steve Kipner, just to name a few.   Jim and Mike Talk Music can be found on Podbean (host site), Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Iheart Radio, Pandora and almost anywhere you listen to podcasts.   You can also view a couple portions of our video interview with Holly on YouTube (search Jim and MIke Talk Music to find our channel) Thank you for listening!

Chris & Kelsey finally find out why he's called Pumpkinhead when his head isn't shaped like a pumpkin! The Classic Film: Pumpkinhead (1988) "After a tragic accident, a man conjures up a towering, vengeful demon called Pumpkinhead to destroy a group of unsuspecting teenagers” (IMDb.com). Famed creature creator Stan Winston's directorial debut is the sort of film that most people outside the general horror fandom probably haven't even heard of, but it garners certain respect among the faithful and for good reason. We wouldn't say it's "stellar" but it's certainly charming and very enjoyable. Oh, and Pumpkinhead be throwin' folks. The Modern Film: A Quiet Place (2018) "In a post-apocalyptic world, a family is forced to live in silence while hiding from monsters with ultra-sensitive hearing” (IMDb.com). A Quiet Place may be a motherlode for pedants, but to fall down that hole would be to miss the incredible performances and atmosphere that make the movie pretty dang good. Plus, it makes Chris cry. Our special guest is Songwriter Hall of Fame member Billy Steinberg, who with collaborator Tom Kelly wrote many Number 1 hits including "Like a Virgin" by Madonna, "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper, "So Emotional" by Whitney Houston, "Alone" by Heart, and "Eternal Flame" by The Bangles. The duo also co-wrote "I'll Stand By You" with Chrissie Hynde and "I Touch Myself" with Christine Amphlett and Mark McEntee of The Divinyls. Billy Steinberg and Cyndi Lauper in Finland, 1988. Billy's first hit song was "How Do I Make You," which Linda Ronstadt decided to record after hearing demos from Steinberg's band Billy Thermal. In our conversation, Billy shares how he found out Rondstadt would record the song which later reached the Billboard Top 10. Billy Thermal's unreleased 1980 album In 1981, Steinberg began a momentous collaboration with songwriter Tom Kelly, with whom he wrote many memorable hits of the 80s and 90s. Billy shares how he and Tom found their groove as co-writers and how they always tried to write to make themselves happy rather than customizing songs for potential artists. Their breakout hit was "Like A Virgin," the title track of Madonna's second album. You'll hear Billy's personal story behind the lyrics to "Like A Virgin" and what it meant for him to hear the song sung by an Italian nun, directed at God. Billy Steinberg, Tom Kelly, and Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders, 1992. Steinberg's lyrics resonate throughout the years because their themes are universal — which is different from being general or bland, as we discuss. We also talk about how the Brill Building Era inspired him to become a songwriter.   Billy has gone on to write with many other songwriters, including frequent collaborator Josh Alexander with whom he co-write "Give Your Heart a Break" by Demi Lovato and "Too Little Too Late" by Jojo. They have also written numerous songs with the artist LP, whom Steinberg calls "a female Roy Orbison." SUMMARY:Our guest on this episode of Songcraft is genre-bending singer, songwriter, artist, and international sensation LP. She joins us to chat about everything from writing Rihanna's double platinum Top 10 single “Cheers (Drink to That), to her own artist career which has yielded classics such as “Lost on You” (which reached #1 in 18 countries), to her much-anticipated upcoming sixth studio album, Churches.  PART ONE:Scott and Paul don't hold back on their feelings about Rolling Stone's recently revised "500 Greatest Songwriters of All Time" list. PART TWO:Our in-depth interview with LPABOUT LP:Born Laura Pergolizzi on Long Island, New York, the singer, songwriter, and artist now known as LP got her start with a pair of impressive independent album releases before landing a deal with Island Records. While that album was never completed, “Love Will Keep You Up All Night,” one of the songs she wrote for the project, was recorded by The Backstreet Boys on their Unbreakable album in 2007. Inspired to write for other artists, LP went on to have cuts such as “Shine Ya Light,” a Top 10 hit for Rita Ora in the UK, and “Cheers (Drink to That),” a Top 10 double platinum single for Rihanna in the US. The wide range of other artists who've recorded her songs includes Heidi Montag, Christina Aguilera, Jo Walsh, Leona Lewis, Cher, and Celine Dion. LP rediscovered the joy of writing songs for herself with “Into the Wild,” which was used in a Citibank commercial. She signed with Warner Bros. and recorded the Forever For Now album, which featured collaborations with writers such as Claude Kelly, Billy Steinberg, and Isabella Summers from Florence and the Machine. She moved on to Vagrant Records for the Lost on You album, with a title track that has garnered over 455 million listens on Spotify, over 750 million views on YouTube, and chart-topping status in nearly 20 countries. Truly an international sensation, LP continued to gain attention for songs such as “Girls Go Wild” from her Heart to Mouth album, and has already released a handful of songs, including “The One That You Love,” “How Low Can You Go,” and “One Last Time” from her forthcoming release, Churches, which will be available this December.

While Under the Table and Dreaming may have been released in September 1994 as the debut studio album by the Dave Matthews Band, songwriter and guitarist David John Matthews was working as a bartender in 1990 when a friend encouraged him to get together with drummer Carter Beauford and record a demo of a few songs he had written.  Matthews also brought in saxophonist LeRoi Moore, and the trio began working on songs in 1991.  Beauford recalled the three piece band was, according to Wikipedia “Awful.  Not just kind of bad, I mean heinously bad...Sometimes it amazes me that we ever had a second rehearsal.”  Fortunately, they did have more rehearsals, as Matthews brought in Stefan Lessard on bass, Peter Griesar as keyboardist (he would leave the band just before the big breakout), and violinist Boyd Tinsley (in 1992).The Dave Matthews Band built a following similar to the Grateful Dead through constant touring in the 1990's.  They were famous for constantly changing their setlist and song arrangement so that no two concerts were the same, they also encouraged fans to record their performances, another similarity to the Grateful Dead.  Armed with a solid following in Virginia and a live EP called “Recently” recorded earier in 1994, the DMB would enter the studio with famed producer Steve Lillywhite to produce this certified 6x Platinum album. There has never really been a time when the Dave Matthews Band hasn't been popular since this debut.  When they released their album “Come Tomorrow” in 2018, it debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200, making DMB the first band to have seven consecutive studio albums debut at the peak. This is a great album, and we know you will enjoy downloading it for your collectionAnts MarchingThis is the second single released, and it reached #18 on the Billboard Alternative chart.  It was written back in 1991 about people who live very settled lives, doing the same thing over and over - like ants marching.  The album title comes from this song, “He remembers being small - playing under the table and dreaming.”The Best of What's AroundThis is the opening track from the album.  It is about a guy cheering up a friend who is down.  “See you and me have a better time than most can dream, have it better than the best.  So we can pull on through whatever tears at us, whatever holds us down.  And if nothing can be done we'll make the best of what's around.”Lover Lay DownThis is a deep cut off the album, and it is a pretty straightforward love song.  “Oh please lover lay down, spend some time with me.  Together share this smile.”What Would You SayWe don't recommend that you look for a deeper meaning in the lyrics from the lead single from the album.  While the lyrics are mostly nonsense, we do appreciate the line, “I was there when the bear ate his head - thought it was a candy.”  The harmonica will sound familiar to Blues Traveler fans, as John Popper contributes those notes. ENTERTAINMENT TRACK:Sympathy for the Devil by Guns 'N' Roses (from the motion picture Interview with the Vampire)Axl Rose and company provide their take in this cover of the Rolling Stones song for the horror hit based on Anne Rice's novel. STAFF PICKS:Plowed by SpongeWayne start's this week's staff picks on a rocking track from the Sponge album “Rotting Piñata.”  The song lyrics are about trying to achieve a goal and failing.  “In a world of human wreckage where I'm lost and I'm found and I can't touch the ground, I'm plowed into the sound.”I'll Stand By You by the PretendersAn unusual ballad, Brian brings us  a big hit from Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders.  This was the first time Hynde wrote in collaboration with others, songwriters Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg.  Hynde was embarrassed about writing the pop song at first, but warmed up to it over time.  The song reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100.Need Your Lovin' by TeslaRob's staff pick is off Tesla's album “Bust A Nut.”  Vocalist Jeff Keith fronts this band made famous in the hair metal era.  This track is a love song, but with a stronger beat than would be the case if it were a ballad.  Tesla continues to tour today.6:00 by Dream TheaterBruce rounds out the staff picks with the opening track from Dream Theater's album Awake.  Keyboardist Kevin Moore penned these lyrics, supposedly about a man stuck in a situation looking for a way out, but in reality about Moore's increasing distance from the band and desire to leave.  The opening samples are from the 1987 movie “The Dead,” a film adaptation of a James Joyce short story. INSTRUMENTAL TRACK:#34 by the Dave Matthews BandIt's a little double dipping on the DMB with this instrumental, which would appear on the CD as the 34th track.  A number of bands would “hide” music on distant tracks on their CD releases.

"Your true colors...are beautiful, like a rainbow..." Billy Steinberg's lyrics were originally inspired by his mother but his song writing partner Tom Kelly recognised it's universal appeal and with a slight re-write, it became the song that Cyndi Lauper made famous the world over. Growing up in a small town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Ken Kidd could never truly be himself. Watching Cyndi Lauper perform True Colors on MTV showed him that it was OK to be his authentic self. Years later he describes his pride at watching the Rainbow Flag being raised above the Stonewall National Monument as he and other LGBTQ campaigners sang that same song. Lesley Pyne learnt to sing 'True Colors' with her local choir. It's a song that resonated with her more than she had ever expected. After six attempts at IVF, Lesley had had to come to terms with the knowledge that she wouldn't be able to have children. It wasn't easy. It has taken years of digging deep to work through the grief but now she helps others to find their true colours and firmly believes that they can be beautiful, like a rainbow. And in 1999, Caroline Paige, a jet and helicopter navigator in the Royal Air Force, became the first ever openly serving transgender officer in the British military. She rose above the extraordinary challenges placed before her to show her 'True Colors' whilst serving her country on the front line in the war on terror. Featuring songwriter Billy Steinberg and music from The Rock Choir Produced by Nicola Humphries.

After Linda Ronstadt scored a Top 10 hit with Billy Steinberg’s “How Do I Make You” in 1980, he went on to score a series of chart-topping singles co-written with Tom Kelly, including “Like a Virgin” by Madonna, “True Colors” by Cyndi Lauper, “Alone” by Heart, "So Emotional" by Whitney Houston, and “Eternal Flame” by the Bangles. Additional Top 10 hits from the Steinberg/Kelly songbook include “In Your Room” by the Bangles, “I Touch Myself” by Divinyls, “I’ll Stand By You” by The Pretenders, and “I Drove All Night,” which was a major international hit three different times, first by Cyndi Lauper, then by Roy Orbison, and, finally, by Celine Dion. After Tom Kelly retired from the music business, Steinberg partnered with Rick Nowels, with whom he won a Grammy for their work on the title track to Celine Dion’s multiplatinum Falling Into You album in 1996. Since the mid-2000s, Billy has written extensively with Josh Alexander, with whom he penned JoJo's Top 5 pop hit "Too Little Too Late" and Demi Lovato’s “Give Your Heart a Break." Additionally, the pair partnered with songwriter/producer – and previous Songcraft guest - Toby Gad for Nicole Scherzinger's #1 UK chart-topper "Don't Hold Your Breath.” Other artists who’ve contributed to Steinberg’s long list of Billboard charting singles include Pat Benatar, Tina Turner, Susanna Hoffs, Chicago, Bette Midler, Ace of Base, Phil Collins, Katharine McPhee, Carrie Underwood, and many others. Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011.

GENERATION INVINCIBLE – Public Health ✓ Healthcare Policy ✓ Social Justice ✓

Today's episode of Generation Invincible is dedicated to those whose lives were lost or who were injured in the horrific massacre in Orlando, Florida. Anger. That's what we're feeling, so that's what today's episode is about. Anger towards what happened, anger about Hillary Clinton's historic nomination, and anger about the Brock Turner case. How you should handle that anger and channel it for the greater good, rather than further contributing to hate and violence. Here's the article I reference that explains how to contact your Senator or Representative and gives a form letter or script for writing or calling them: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nicole-silverberg/guide-elected-representatives-gun-control_b_8708154.html To submit feedback for Generation Invincible, email generationinvincible@gmail.com.
