Before the Target collabs, before the McCormick's deal, before millions of people called her their favorite auntie on the internet,Tabitha Brown was sitting in the dark, convinced she was dying. In one of the most honest conversations Happy With Tammi Mac has ever produced, host Tammi Mac creates a sacred space for Tabitha Brown to go all the way back. Back to 2016 and 2017, when she spent over a year battling a mysterious autoimmune illness that left doctors baffled and left Tabitha terrified. With a headache that lasted one year and seven months, vision loss, chronic pain, and failing strength in her hands, Tabitha's mind went to the place she feared most, her mother. Her mother, who died of ALS at just 51. Her mother, who was told by doctors that it was all in her head for 11 months, before being given six months to two years to live. Tabitha saw the mirror. And she prepared herself for the end. What saved her wasn't another doctor's appointment. It was a documentary. A conversation with her daughter. A decision to go vegan for 30 days. And on Day 10, the headache that had been her constant companion for nearly two years was gone. This episode moves through all three segments of Happy With Tammi Mac: The Dark Journey, Tabitha's health crisis and grief; The Turning Point, the plant-based decision that changed her biology and her destiny; and Finding Happy, what it means to look back at the viral car video that launched everything and choose gratitude over forgetting. Tammi Mac also shares her own story, the pandemic depression that inspired this entire podcast, reminding us that sometimes the most honest thing you can say is "I did this for me." This episode is for anyone who has been dismissed by a doctor. For anyone who has watched someone they love die too young. For anyone who has sat in the silence of a body that won't cooperate and a mind that has started saying goodbye. And for anyone who needs proof that a turning point is still possible. Happiness has been a hard word to come by, but it will exist again.

Ellen has spent decades studying what happens when we stop moving through life on autopilot. When we stop treating our assumptions like facts. When we replace certainty with a simple act: noticing. In this episode, we talk about mindfulness without meditation—her version of mindfulness that doesn't require silence or a retreat. Just attention. Just the willingness to admit: I don't know. We move through her iconic experiments - like turning back the clock on ageing, or rigging clocks to show how perceived time changes what happens in the body. We talk about why stress isn't caused by events, but by the meaning we attach to them. And why so much of what we call reality is really just… a story we're clinging to because it makes us feel safe. That the body doesn't just respond to biology — it responds to meaning. To perception. To the story we're living inside. Ellen's work is quietly radical. Her work time and again shows that we have far more influence over our biology than we've been taught. Not through force. Not through positive thinking as a performance. But through attention. Through flexibility. Through refusing to collapse life into single answers and embracing the constant change.   Ellen J. Langer Ellen J. Langer is a professor of psychology at Harvard University and a pioneering researcher best known for developing a Western, evidence-based approach to mindfulness without meditation—often described as “the simple act of noticing new things.” She is widely recognised for decades of research on mindlessness, decision-making, ageing, health, and what she calls mind–body unity. Her work has earned major honours, including multiple Distinguished Scientist Awards and the Liberty Science Center “Genius” Award, and she has been repeatedly named one of Harvard's favourite professors by students. Her recent books include The Mindful Body: Thinking Our Way to Chronic Health (released in 2023) and Finding Happy, an illustrated book exploring everyday mindfulness and wellbeing. What if the key to happiness isn't success, wealth, or recognition — but helping someone else? On this episode of Daily Influence, Gregg-Brooke Koleno sits down with film producer, social entrepreneur, and humanitarian Peter Samuelson to explore how influence, storytelling, and service intersect to create lasting change. From producing major Hollywood films like Revenge of the Nerds and Return of the Pink Panther to founding global nonprofits including Starlight Children's Foundation, First Star, and Everyone Deserves a Roof (EDAR), Peter shares the pivotal moments that shaped his life of purpose. In this powerful conversation, you'll hear: • How one teacher's belief changed the trajectory of Peter's life • The deeply personal story that inspired the creation of Starlight • Why “selflessness can be selfish” — and why that's a good thing • How First Star is helping foster youth attend college at 10x the national rate • Why failure is essential to growth and responsible influence • The connection between storytelling, philanthropy, and real-world impact • His perspective on AI, ethics, and protecting young minds • Why helping others is the most reliable path to long-term happiness Peter reminds us that influence is not about accumulation — it's about contribution. It's about recognizing asymmetry in the world and choosing to apply energy where it's needed most. Whether you're a leader, parent, entrepreneur, or simply someone who wants to make a difference but isn't sure where to begin, this episode will challenge and inspire you to step outside yourself and take action. Because as Peter says, the meaning of life isn't found in what we gather — it's found in what we give. Learn more at: Listen now and be reminded: small actions truly can create extraordinary impact.

What if the very thing you think will make you happy is the thing that's quietly killing you? Peter Samuelson produced 27 Hollywood films, worked alongside Peter Sellers, Steve McQueen, and Steven Spielberg, and stood at the epicenter of power, fame, and money. But none of it—not the red carpets, not the billion-dollar budgets—brought him what he was really after. . That only came when he met a dying child with one last wish. That moment shattered his world—and rebuilt his purpose. . In this raw, no-BS episode, Peter Samuelson takes us behind the scenes of his evolution from “successful film producer” to serial pro-social entrepreneur. From co-founding the Starlight Children's Foundation with Spielberg to launching the world's first avatar-based social network for terminally ill teens, his journey is a masterclass in purpose-driven leadership. . And along the way? Practical jokes with Peter Sellers. Motocross requests from Steve McQueen. A $2.5M surprise donation from Spielberg. And the realization that happiness has nothing to do with success, and everything to do with what you're willing to sacrifice for others. .

When Chad Kneller was in his 20s, he “was all about sex, drugs, and rock and roll.” Laser-focused on being a singer in a rock band, Kneller figured life ends at age 27, just as it did for a host of famous musicians who burned hot and died young. Through the lens of that existentialism, Chad drank too much, partied too hard, and ignored basic rules of society. Eventually, the warrants piled up and Chad found himself doing a couple two-week stints in jail. During one of those sojourns, he picked up a Bible and read it cover to cover. He then approached the prison minister. “I said, ‘Hey, I got some questions,' and he didn't know I have three hours' worth of questions. He answered them all. And that was the beginning of a new life for me,” he said. Upon his release, Chad returned to his new girlfriend and the two set upon a path of finding their future together. A marriage, two military stints, and three kids later, Chad and his wife are now serial entrepreneurs. Chad has also published a book called Finding Happy, which seeks to help people, especially young people, get beyond the intensity of their emotions and gain context to get through the most difficult seasons of their lives. “I feel like if someone would have given me a book like that when I was in my early 20s I could have saved a whole lot of time. I wouldn't have wasted almost a decade after that.” Finding Happy has received great reviews and Chad says he's even been told it saved one person's life, a true win if ever there was one. It was a pleasure talking to Chad and I know his chiseling is going to continue to help others. If you want to reach Chad, his email is findinghappy1@gmail.com or you can check him out on all his social media channels @chadkneller or on his website.

With a deep commitment to personal development, he's authored the inspiring book, "Finding Happy," and it's clear that happiness is not just a goal but a way of life. The Law of Associations In this episode, we delve into the Law of Associations, where Chad shares the profound wisdom that we are the sum of the five people we spend the most time with. He unpacks Jim Rohn's philosophy of 5-minute, 5-hour, 5-day, and 5-week friends, emphasizing the importance of categorizing your associations wisely. Navigating Life's Crossroads Chad opens up about a pivotal moment in his life when he had to make the tough decision to distance himself from a loved one whose influence was not conducive to his growth. The lesson learned: in order to attract valuable people into your life, you must first add value to others. Goal Achievement vs. Tension Relief Discover the key difference between successful individuals and those who aren't achieving their dreams. Successful people focus on goal achievement, while the rest tend to seek tension relief. Jim Rohn's wisdom shines through as Chad emphasizes the importance of gratitude on the journey to success. That passion is helping others find themselves again through the power of health and fitness and NOW, with this podcast, to build a community of women who are wanting to spread happiness and find the happiness that IS STILL in our lives. I want to inspire people and build them up! I FIND THE HAPPINESS WITHIN THE DIAGNOSIS knowing that I'm looking at it straight on and saying “nope not today” KNOWING that the diagnosis was and is the CATALYST for something much larger in my life and the lives of those I'm blessed to come into contact with!" If you're on Instagram, come on over and say hello! @mindfullyfitwithmelissa is my personal account and I'd love to hear from you.
