Zjawisko to dotyczy całego systemu rodzinnego.
Leaders, by definition, are captivated by the future – moving forward, making progress, and changing the world. But what many leaders fail to appreciate is that we are all anchored in our past. In other words, none of us are "blank slates". We each bring the blessings and curses of our families of origin (Exodus 20:5) into our relationships, churches, organizations, and businesses. Emotionally healthy leaders understand that you cannot go forward without first going backward. That is why the GENOGRAM is one of the core tools in both parts of the Emotionally Healthy Discipleship Course. When I became a Christian, I believed I was a "new creation" (2 Cor. 5:17) and that I no longer needed to deal with my past. However, when I discovered the genogram tool, I found a new way to bring all of the baggage of my family of origin to Jesus to be changed. The truth is – you cannot change what you are unaware of. In today's podcast episode, Geri and I share our history with this powerful tool and how it helped us name the reality of our past to catalyze the transforming work of Jesus in our lives and leadership. Don't miss this one!
Imagine a healthcare system where you actually matter. Not just the symptom you walk in with, but who you are as a person, the struggles you face, your family legacy, your family secrets. Imagine all of these things matter. In the season 3 finale, Episodes 8 and 9 reveal Ramey's layers of family history in the context of relationships and identity. By looking backward, Ramey moves forward with the knowledge and confidence to form her own Health Strategy. The GenogramIn Episode 8, Ramey takes a deeper dive on how people and events influenced her life experience and identity. No one lives in a vacuum. Family diseases, events and relationships contribute to your emotional and physical states of health. The word, Genogram, is just a fancy term for a family tree that maps out who you belong to and some basic patterns of these relationships. Genograms include biological and legal members of a family, but they can also include pets, friends, and other relationships. They reveal clues about family secrets and mythology, since families usually modify what is painful or embarrassing in their history. You draw from your point of view as the key person at the center of the map, going back at least two generations and forward to your children and grandchildren.I use genograms with my clients as a building block to fully know who they are in their environment. With context, there is meaning. With reflection, there is growth and potential for healing.Follow Ramey's Health Journey in Season 3My client, Ramey, reached a point where she wanted to go deeper than that with the Health Strategy Consult program. Season 3 is about pulling the curtain back so you can learn the process with Ramey on how to form a unique health strategy.ResourcesThank you for Subscribing/Following the podcast and leaving a review! As a pastor or leader, your primary role is to develop and disciple others. More than simply "getting things done", we are called to prioritize the growth and maturity of the people and leaders around us. We do this by learning particular skills and tools with which we can coach our leaders, our team, and those in our ministry. One game-changing tool that I use to coach others is called the “Genogram”. The genogram is a powerful visual map to document the history and dynamics of our family relationships and their impact on us, over three to four generations. In today's episode, I share the 6 stages I use to coach other leaders through the Genogram so that you can do the same.
Families have a funny way of repeating patterns. That is, until someone is willing to feel the feelings and work through the shit. Then that unhealthy, negative pattern tends to stop. How do you know if it's a pattern? Sometimes it's hard to tell! This is where making a family tree, specifically called a genogram, can be so helpful! I walk you through some questions to ask as you built your tree. You can also check out today's instagram post to see some genogram examples. “Freedom is in danger of degenerating into mere arbitrariness unless it is lived in terms of responsibleness. That is why I recommend that the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast.”-Dr. Viktor E. Frankl (Mans Search for Meaning)Dr. Frankl suggested be handled with responsible action - and thus goes the conversation with Rabbi B. and I as we discuss freedom in our modern times, and how maybe he tend to lapse into that "arbitrariness" from time to time. We also manage to mix in some discussion on the psychological aspects of family history, the enneagram and genogram are mixed together to form the geneagram, and of course, the MBTI makes an appearance as well. Therapists have traditionally used the genogram to help identify patterns and psychological factors that affect relationships. Those genograms are often highly "wound-aware" focusing on the dysfunctional elements within a family. Brenda & Deborah discuss the use of the genogram in a more soulful way to help clients identify the resources of our family and ancestors that are often neglected: The resilience, determination and creativity that enabled them to survive/thrive that can be recognized and inspire us when dealing with our own life challenges. Informed by family stories and creative imagination, the strength of our ancestors can become our own and help guide us into the future.

Have you ever done a Genogram before? This episode shares a phenomenal exercise to better understand some of the reasons of why you do what you do. A “genogram” is a family “map”. It's a great visual way to better understand your family history and how your family history may be impacting your leadership & your personal & professional behaviors that may not be healthy or productive for you anymore. I learned this exercise from Peter & Geri Scazzero in their One Day Emotionally Healthy Discipleship course. Episode 266: Getting Real About Mental Health in the Workplace Here is where we are at in America. The State of Mental Health in America 2021 report results show the number of people looking for help with anxiety and depression has skyrocketed to a 93% increase from 2019 to September of 2020. I’m glad people ask for help; that is the first step. What are we doing in the workplace to address the anxiety and depression uptick in ourselves and those we employ? Recovery coach and educator Laurie Healy joins me to discuss how business owners can have real conversations about mental health to redesign their work culture. Yes, it can be tricky. We have ideas, including where to start. The report’s sample size was from over 1.5 million people who have taken a Mental Health Assessment (MHA). It was noted in the report that more people are reporting frequent thoughts of suicide and self-harm than have ever been recorded in the MHA Screening program since its launch in 2014.Lost revenues as a consequence. Did you know the cost of this mental health crisis? “Across the United States economy,” Laurie says, “depression is the leading cause of mental health and costs the nation $210.5 billion annually.” That is a considerable amount of lost revenues. Caregivers and family members dealing with mental health put in roughly 32 hours/week providing unpaid care. The shame and stigma are masked in secrecy. We need to help find access to care for people and normalize mental health conversations in the workplace. This research tells us that we can no longer avoid difficult conversations about mental health in the workplace. Asserting self-leadership to address your own mental health prepares you to take the needed risks to redesign your work culture. What would a work culture that promotes resiliency, compassion, empathy, and empowering people to speak up look like? You can create your own courageous plan. That is where the fun comes in. DOWNLOAD Genogram as a resource. In getting trained as an Arise interventionist, Laurie was introduced to the Genogram. It is a tool to gather four to five generations’ worth of information about substance use, psychological factors, and physical health from your family tree. Laurie uses the Genogram as an intervention technique discovered by Murray Bowen in the 1970s as part of his family systems model. Laurie says, “I help people understand that substance use and mental health challenges likely didn’t start with the user. Others suffered from addiction in prior generations, too.” This creates a larger context for understanding and is a shame resiliency technique. You can use the Genogram to break things down by reminiscing with family members about family gatherings, uncover patterns of communication, and learn how challenges were handled. For instance, what traditions are in place when someone dies? How did the family deal with sudden death and trauma-based situations? How was addiction talked about or addressed in your family of origin? You could discover the resiliency level in your family tree and the traditions that connect one generation to the next. Laurie has other insights worth hearing, too, like normalizing mental health conversations.Normalize Mental Health Conversations in the WorkplaceHave you ever had a speaking engagement where you walked away wondering why that came out of my mouth? That is the case in this conversation. I was wondering why I spontaneously brought up a big Trauma at age 14. The accident happened on our family’s dairy farm. A workplace we don’t always associate as a typical workplace. Family businesses have that kind of feel, casual and deeply personal, complicated with generations of communication styles interwoven into how the little traumas and big traumas are addressed. In my case, like the tendency of our country, we addressed the situation and moved on. No one wanted to talk about it. Ten years later, I experienced PTSD. There are long-term consequences to not addressing...

W naszym życiu nieświadomie działają różne procesy „przenoszenia" wzorców z pokolenia na pokolenie. Jak to się dzieje? W czym tkwi zagadka naszych niezrozumiałych wyborów? Dlaczego niekiedy chcemy dobrze, a wychodzi zupełnie inaczej? We continue our Personal Perspective series as we are joined again by Steven Land, MA, LPCA, one of the counselors at our practice in the greater Charlotte area of NC. Steven joins Amanda and Dr. Bev Rodgers in a discussion about the Soul Healogram. He has a great saying: Part One of the Soul Healogram and the Genogram is like the really messy, gnarled Family Tree, and Part Two is the narrative or personal biography that you find yourself in as a result of the Family Tree. The great realization of looking at this Tree is that you now are aware of the story, AND now you can be an active character in deciding how you want the rest of the story to flow. You get to rewrite the narrative to be what you want rather than passively reacting in the same patterns defined by your past. Join us as we delve more deeply into family history and begin to look at your gnarled, messy tree to decide how you want your story to end! Steven Land has earned an MA in Professional Counseling as well as an MA in Human Services & Executive Leadership from Liberty University. He has served as a discipleship pastor and small group leader in his local church. Further, he has been an academic advisor helping individuals of all ages with their educational goals. His goal is to help you discover the inner resources as well as provide tools and information that will help you better understand yourself and your situation. He also looks to help you write a new story for your life, to look at your experiences in a new way and take ownership of your future. He works to help you understand the connection between the brain, body, and soul by using the Soul Healing Love model and methods.

The Centre is undergoing a transformation from a minister-centric community to a ministry-centric community. This is guided by the Genogram activity and our community's Shadow Card and Q Card. The Shadow Card is when we are acting outside of our integrity. The Q Card is the diamond that we are being called and shaped into. Visionary Tama Kieves says it this way, "I hate transitions. But I am black coal, and this compression is turning me into a diamond. And as much as I want to conform and just be like every other chunk of coal, I am cursed by my need for a life of meaning. I will walk or crawl through transformation because I want a life of diamonds."
Dr. Patrick presents the community's Q Card. The reverse side of the card speaks of the shadow qualities of our community, while the front side of the card speaks to our destiny as a vibrant, impactful ministry-centric spiritual community. Dr. Patrick's talk is followed by a meditative musical experience presented by Dennis Goodwill, using singing bowls, gongs, and other instruments which were not captured well by the recording, and hence not included in the podcast.
This week, Dr. Patrick previews the upcoming weekend Genogram activity with Dr. Gary Simmons that will happen at the Centre. The Centre and its ministry has a history and thus a pain body. The purpose is to identify the unconscious patterns that drive or run our ministry when we are not conscious, as well as those patterns and the unintended consequences of the current way we do ministry in the minister-centric practice. We then seek to answer: Who did we come here to be? Why does the Centre exist? There are states of being and stages of being. A feeling of oneness is a state, and how we view it will be coloured by our stage of development. Limitation and poverty are not things but are the result of restricted ways of thinking. We are surrounded by a Subjective Intelligence which receives the impress of our thought and acts upon it. This natural Law in the Mental World is neither good nor bad. It can only be said of It that IT IS, and that we may consciously use It. The Law is a law of reflection; for Life is a mirror, reflecting to us as conditions the images of our thinking. Whatever one thinks tends to take form and become a part of his experience. The Medium of all thought is the Universal Mind, acting as Law. Law is always impersonal, neutral, receptive and reactive. Look into the mirror with love.
