Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
**Today's Halacha is dedicated f or the refuah and haslacha of Ronnie, Sharon, Eli and all the children of CARE** How does traveling affect the Misva of Sefirat Ha'omer, and what are the procedures for counting when traveling? Needless to say, if one travels within the same time zone, his counting is unaffected. He should count during the nighttime, as usual, either in his place of origin, at his destination, or in the plane. There is no requirement to count the Omer specifically in the synagogue or at home. Similarly, if one travels from New York to California, for example, his flight should not affect his count. If he leaves in the late afternoon, then he counts the Omer that night in California. A slightly more complicated situation arises when one flies from New York to the Far East during the period of the Omer, such that he loses a day. Let us consider the example of a person who takes a Monday night flight that arrives in Hong Kong on Wednesday. On Monday night, of course, he counts as usual with a Beracha. If that night is the 32nd day of the Omer, for example, then he recites the Beracha and counts the 32nd day as usual. If he is aware when the flight crosses the International Date Line, and he sees that it is nighttime, such that it is Tuesday night at his current location, then he may count the 33rd day with a Beracha. If this is too difficult for the traveler, as he cannot precisely determine when he crossed the Date Line, or he is unsure whether it is during the night when this occurs, then he should delay the counting until he arrives in Hong Kong on Wednesday during the day. He should then count the 33rd day without a Beracha, just as one does whenever he misses a counting at night but then counts during the following day. He may then resume counting with a Beracha the next night – the 34th day of the Omer – since he did not miss an entire day of counting. Thus, when one travels to the Far East and crosses the International Date Line, he has the option of either counting with a Beracha during the flight, at nighttime, after he crosses the Date Line , or waiting until he arrives at his destination during the day and counting without a Beracha. Either way, he resumes counting the next night with a Beracha. When one returns from the Far East, then he simply counts in the Far East the night he leaves, and then counts again the next night when he returns home. Needless to say, if, as a result of crossing the Date Line, he returns home on the same day on which he had counted the Omer, he does not count again, and instead waits until the next night. Summary: One who travels to the Far East during the period of the Omer has the option of either counting the Omer with a Beracha during the flight, at night, after crossing the International Date Line, or waiting until arriving at his destination, during the day, in which case he counts without a Beracha. In either case, he counts as usual with a Beracha henceforth.

The International Date Line (IDL) is one of the weirdest things on the map—it's not a straight line at all! It zigzags to avoid splitting countries, islands, and even some communities into different days, which would be super confusing. Imagine one side of your house being a day ahead of the other! It mostly follows the 180° longitude line but takes big detours around places like Kiribati and Samoa so they can stay on the same date as their neighbors. This bending of the line makes it look strange, but it helps people in those areas keep their calendars in sync. Without the IDL, figuring out the time and date for travel, shipping, and even calling someone would be a chaotic mess. #brightside Animation is created by Bright Side. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music from TheSoul Sound: https://thesoul-sound.com/ Check our Bright Side podcast on Spotify and leave a positive review! https://open.spotify.com/show/0hUkPxD... Nicole gets the Junkies thinking about traveling, and while Olivia plans to escape the oppressive Arizona temps this summer, Shauna will enjoy the hot hot heat poolside. As for Nicole, she'll soon be sailing to the other side of the International Date Line, where her today will be our tomorrow. Then the talk turns to movies, specifically movie sets. With an imaginary time (and place) machine, Shauna wills herself to the set of Blade (1998), where she participates in the Goth nightclub scene that culminated in a blood orgy. Fun! Olivia's choice is Eyes Wide Shut from 1999, so she can see for herself if there was any "Illuminati shit" was going down that would explain the death of director Stanley Kubrick shortly before the film's release - and the 40 minutes excised from the Director's cut. As for Nicole, she wants to join Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler on the set of 50 First Dates, mainly so she can cross visiting South Africa's Lost City Resort off her bucket list. As part of our ongoing series about the Great Shanghai Escape, I had a conversation with my friend and collaborator Dovi Safier, who is a known expert on this topic, as well as having done some original research highlighting new angles of the narrative. Prior to getting to the topic at hand, our conversation covered recent history discoveries related to the family of the Slabodka Yeshiva, bearing witness to history, the recent rally in Washington, before we got to talking about the escape to Shanghai. We discussed the role of Rav Yitzchak Isaac Herzog in facilitating the escape and of Rav Avraham Kalmanowitz in funding the Mir Yeshiva and other rescue activities he spearheaded throughout his colorful career. The arrival of the refugees in Japan was another story we covered, including their reception by the local populace and the local Jewish community, despite the fact that anti-Semitic tropes were prevalent in the Japanese press. In order to create an even more authentic feel, Dovi inserted historic audio of eyewitnesses to some of the events described. The passenger steamer SS Warrimoo was quietly knifing its way through the waters of the mid-Pacific on its way from Vancouver to Australia. The navigator had just finished working out a star fix and brought Captain John D.S. Phillips the result. The Warrimoo's position was LAT 0º 31' N and LONG 179 30' W. The date was Dec. 31, 1899. “Know what this means?” First Mate Payton broke in, “We're only a few miles from the intersection of the Equator and the International Date Line.” Captain Phillips was prankish enough to take full advantage of the opportunity to achieve the...Article Link

Sunday morning Halacha shiur
This morning we discuss our appreciation of Jerusalem in advance of Yom Yerushalayim, celebrating Jerusalem's reunification, this Friday, May 19. We trace, based on the writing of Rabb Chaim Jachter, a practical consequence of this principle in helping establish the International Date Line that is accepted by Jewish Law. This is an extremely complicated subject, and we briefly discuss three main opinions on this, but we dwell on the opinion of Rabbi Yechiel Michel Tukachinsky, who sees Jerusalem as our Greenwich, the place from which everything starts. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation. We take great pleasure in welcoming everyone with a warm smile, while sharing inspiration through prayer, study, and friendship. Rabbi Whitman shares his thoughts and inspirations through online lectures and shiurim, which are available on: YouTube: https://tinyurl.com/adathyoutube Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adathmichael/ Podcast - Mining the Riches of the Parsha: Apple Podcasts - https://tinyurl.com/miningtheriches1 Spotify: https://tinyurl.com/miningtheriches3 Stitcher: https://tinyurl.com/miningtheriches4 Please contact Rabbi Whitman (rabbi@adath.ca) with any questions for feedback, or to receive a daily email, "Study with Rabbi Whitman Today," with current and past insights for that day, video, and audio, all in one short email sent directly to your inbox.

How do you count when crossing the line?
Some Technical Notes from today's episode: (1) Dave has had zero sleep. He was up all night for a family activity. (2) The WMMB computer failed, necessitating the show be done by telephone rather than the normal method via computer. (3) Bill and Dave decided to leave their off air discussions on the podcast version. This is unusual but the conversations were germane to the subject (which is unusual) and might be of benefit to the listener. On the night of March7/8, 1968, a loud and very unexpected sound reverberated through Central part of the Pacific Ocean. Officially, the sound originated 1500 nautical miles northwest of Oahu, exactly on the 180th Meridian (the International Date Line). Depending on who you choose to believe, the United States intelligence community knew almost instantly what the sound was. And within a few days, a major operation was launched centered around the USS Halibut SSN-587, the most technologically advanced spy submarine in the world, which was sent look at the source of the sound. Today, we know what she found, and we have even seen some of the photographs. But that was literally just the beginning of the story. Richard Nixon was passionate about achieving détente. And, as events would play out, he knew what the US had found in the wreck that was found at the site of the sound, the Soviet Ballistic Missile Submarine K-129. And he was determined to use that information, and more, to achieve that mission… I read “Red Star Rogue” for the first time back in 2006. In 2011, I was able to interview the author, Ken Sewell on Afternoons Live. There are a number of books as to the loss of K-129, but a couple of things are clear – we will NEVER know the full story. But consider… for just a moment… the possibility (some would say probability) that on a quiet March night, a Soviet Ballistic Missile Submarine was hijacked by radical elements of the Soviet government for the express intention of attacking the United States… --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/plausibly-live/message

During the ceremony, Carnival Luminosa's senior leadership team and the classification society completed all necessary registration processes, and Deck Cadet Mark Casson, a Bahamian citizen from Freeport, raised the new Bahamian flag. When the ship departs for Dubai, she will be flying the Bahamian flag to designate the new ship registry. The guests and crew on Carnival Splendor, currently sailing a Transpacific Journeys cruise on its way to restart Carnival Cruise Line's operations in Australia, can (sort of) consider themselves time travellers now that the ship has crossed the International Dateline while sailing westward in the southern Pacific Ocean. By crossing this internationally recognised calendar boundary, the ship skipped a full day of the week – turning Wednesday into Friday for all on boardFollowing Carnival Splendor's departure from Seattle on Sept. 6, after the ship's successful deployment as part of Carnival's biggest-ever Alaska season, guests on board have enjoyed an unforgettable opportunity exploring the natural beauty of this South Pacific cruise. Carnival Splendor made several stops across Hawaii, visiting Honolulu, Kona, Hilo and Maui. Carnival Splendor will soon visit the Fiji Islands, with stops in Suva and Port Denarau.Arriving in Sydney on Sept. 30, Carnival Splendor will be the first Carnival ship returning to guest operations in Australian waters in nearly 1,000 days. In November, Carnival Luminosa will complete the cruise line's two-ship deployment to Australia with sailings from Brisbane.Kangaroo Island's emotional reunion with Princess Cruises Kangaroo Island this week welcome its first cruise ship in more than two and a half years, sharing a special connection with both the valuable sector of the visitor economy and the visiting cruise line.Princess Cruises was the first cruise line to visit the island following the devastating bushfires in January 2020, with a special visit by the Sun Princess “in a show of support for the local community”.Many guests of that voyage made donations to South Australia's bushfire relief and Princess Cruises directed revenue from the day's shore excursions to the state's bushfire appeal. Argent Energy, GoodFuels and Twelve are collaborating with the cruise line to further advance Virgin Voyages' commitment of reaching net zero by 2050.Following months of detailed research, Virgin Voyages has taken an important step to advancing a low-carbon future by establishing key partnerships and building a portfolio approach to sustainable marine fuel (SMF) supply. Recognizing there is currently no one-size-fits-all, low-carbon fuel solution, Virgin Voyages will enter into long-term agreements for sustainable marine fuels with these providers, which includes plans to add others over time.Adopting drop-in sustainable fuels, such as those made from abundant, problematic waste or direct air capture of CO2, is paramount for reducing emissions and reaching net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Virgin Voyages estimates that by switching to sustainable marine fuels, the line will reduce its life-cycle carbon emissions from fuel by 75% or more.Fred. I am back. Well, I mean, I guess technically I didn't go anywhere, [00:00:30] but I know I've been putting out episodes every week, except the beginning of the month of August. I skipped because I was very overwhelmed and I was getting ready to go away on vacation. And then since then, I have been putting out pre-recorded episodes, so they are episodes that had been recorded earlier in the summertime, so it feels like it's been forever since I've actually sat down and recorded a podcast [00:01:00] and that is for a very good reason. And one of those reasons is that I, like I said, was on vacation. I went to Fiji, which I'm so excited to talk about. Alyssa Scolari: I know when I have talked to people here in my regular life, they're like, "Oh my gosh, that's so far." And I guess it is, or it isn't, depending on where you live in the world. But I live in the United States on the Eastern coast, [00:01:30] so it was really, really far for us. We crossed the International Dateline. It was like 30 plus hours of travel, just to go one way, so we were really traveling for two weeks. We stayed there for seven days, but between all of the traveling, we were really gone for about two weeks. And man, I really needed it. I don't think I even realized how [00:02:00] much I needed it until I went. Alyssa Scolari: It was a, I guess, six hour flight to get to Los Angeles and then it was a 10 and a half hour flight to get to Fiji. But then once we got to Fiji, we had to take, because Fiji is made up of, I think it's about 333 [00:02:30] islands, so you can go to any of the islands in Fiji. And so we landed on the main island where the airport is and then we took one of those little puddle jumper planes to get to the island and it was the coolest thing I have ever done. Alyssa Scolari: When I say a little plane, I mean it held six people. That was [00:03:00] it. And the pilot, I could reach out and touch him. He was sitting right in front of me and we were low enough that you could see everything and the water there is just the most beautiful blue I have ever seen in my life. It was the most amazing thing. Once I got over my fear of, "Oh my gosh. I'm going to die in this thing." Because I was fairly certain, I was going down. Alyssa Scolari: So we took a puddle jumper plane over to the island of Yasawa [00:03:30] and once we landed, which it's not like there's not an airport on this island. It's literally because the island that we stayed on I think is only about a mile wide, so there's in the middle of the jungle because the whole island is the jungle and the beach, there's just a little strip of grass and that is the landing strip. So, we touched down on this little strip of grass and [00:04:00] we then took a car ride, or a van ride, through the jungle, on a dirt road, to get to the resort. So needless to say, between layovers and just the distance, it was exhausting. But when I tell you it was life-changing, I don't even know where to begin. Alyssa Scolari: So many people have asked me when I've told them, like why [00:04:30] Fiji? If all the places you could go, why Fiji? And the answer to that is, I was always going to Fiji, one way or another. My whole life, my heart has been set on Fiji. Please don't ask me why. I have never seen a movie where I'm like, "Oh my gosh. I want to go to Fiji." I've never really seen anything that has made me want to go to Fiji, but for [00:05:00] some reason that has always been on my heart and I really wanted to go for our honeymoon, but we could not afford it in the slightest. So, we just decided, "Hey, this is my dream and we are going to save up and we are going to go." And we did. Alyssa Scolari: For those of you who don't know this, well actually I'm sure none of you know this about me. I am a massive tropical [00:05:30] fish lover. We had a tropical fish tank. It was like sixty-five gallons, I think. So, it was pretty big and we had all of the salt water fish. We had it for a few years. We had to get rid of it, unfortunately, and bring the fish back to the store because our house was just entirely too small and our dogs were a little too rambunctious and I was afraid that they were [00:06:00] going to run into the tank. But it is a hobby of mine, not necessarily keeping them. I do want to keep them again someday and I absolutely love it, but being in the ocean and being with the ocean life, I am not somebody who's drawn to the beach. I am drawn to the sea. I am drawn to the ocean. In my next life, I will be a marine biologist. I can tell you a ridiculous amount of knowledge about all of the tropical [00:06:30] fish in the sea. Alyssa Scolari: For me, it's always been a place where I have felt like I would be the most at home, even though I've never really been to a place like that. I mean, I went to the Dominican Republic for my honeymoon and we got to do some snorkeling there and it was really cool, but I've never been to a place like Fiji that is so completely untouched and yet there was something inside of me [00:07:00] that always knew that that was where I belonged. And man, I am so glad that I made my dream come true because I was right. It is exactly where I belonged. I have never felt more at home in my entire life than I did standing on that beach. Not even standing on the beach, but being in the ocean. Alyssa Scolari: The first day we got there. Well, really the second [00:07:30] day, because the first day we were falling asleep at the dinner table and then we went to bed. The next day, we went out into the ocean and we swam out to a bunch of big rocks out in the ocean and we climbed up on the rocks. When I say, we, I'm talking about David and I. We climbed up onto the rocks and we just sat there for what felt like forever, looking back at the island. The island is just mountains and mountains of jungle and trees [00:08:00] and then white Sandy beaches. And then we were looking down below us and the water is crystal clear and you could see fish of every color swimming below us. It, I mean, you could see just these bright blue fish that were swimming below us. And of course I was able to identify them right away because they were damsels, which are native to Fiji, and I was so excited. I just felt the most at peace, I've ever felt in my whole life. Alyssa Scolari: [00:08:30] I spent every single day in the ocean. Every single day, snorkeling. There was one day where we got on a boat and we were jetting out into the ocean and we jumped off the boat and just in the middle of the sea, and we were snorkeling, and there was a shark right below us. It was like a reef shark, so it wasn't massive, but it was still a shark. I've always wanted [00:09:00] to swim with the sharks and just the patterns on these fish, the colors of these fish, and not just the fish, the sand crabs, the sea turtles. It's everything. It's the coral reefs. The corals are neon. It was a world that I couldn't even imagine in my wildest dreams. I had always dreamed of this and I always looked up what coral reefs look like, [00:09:30] but it was nothing that I could ever possibly dream up. It was beyond my wildest dreams. Alyssa Scolari: There were days where we would do private picnics on private beaches, so they would pack a cooler for us and they would take us out on a boat, like 20 minutes away from our resort. They would drop us off on a private beach and we would just stay on a private beach, just the two of us, all day long, snorkeling. And you don't even have to go out far to find the fish because the area [00:10:00] is so untouched. The land is so untouched. The resort that we stayed at, maybe holds 40 people. It is the only source of employment on the island. There were no humans. There was nothing there and we didn't even have cell phone service. So, I mean, it was just a time of my life. I've never experienced anything like it and it was amazing. Alyssa Scolari: [00:10:30] I did a lot of healing there. A lot of healing. I made a lot of decisions about just things and changes I'm going to be making and things I'm going to be doing in my career, so I'm happy. I'm also happy to be home though. I missed my dogs and my mother-in-law watched the dogs for us and it was so great to have somebody that we love and trust, be able to take care of the dogs. [00:11:00] And she's awesome, so she did great with them. And yeah, now I'm back and I have a very big announcement to make, which by the way, if you want to see pictures of Fiji, you can head on over to my Instagram because I posted pictures on there. It is lightaftertrauma. Alyssa Scolari: And speaking of my Instagram, if you haven't... If you're on my Instagram, then you might have already seen this announcement. But if not, then this is going to be new to you. I [00:11:30] have launched my first ever online course and I'm so excited. I have been a little distant from the podcast lately. You may have noticed. I've been doing my best. But the reason for that is because I have been working since June on creating this course, or May, I think I've been working on creating this course and it is finally here and I am so [00:12:00] excited. Alyssa Scolari: The course is called The War With Your Body and I collaborated with Leanne Hershkowitz, who is a neurofeedback provider and a therapist as well. She was on the podcast to talk about neurofeedback and developmental trauma. This was probably maybe a year and a half ago, so you'd have to go back into the feed and find it. But we decided that we wanted to do a course together because there really isn't [00:12:30] a lot out there in terms of online courses where people can truly learn about intuitive eating and diet culture and how to ditch those things. Well, not intuitive eating, but how to ditch diet culture and how to let go of that feeling that you have to be on diet after diet. Alyssa Scolari: There's a lot of misinformation out there and there's certainly no [00:13:00] shortage of diet culture and I've talked about diet culture and eating disorders on this podcast, plenty of times before, and body image and health at every size. There's no shortage of bad information out there where people are promoting weight loss and diets and calorie deficits and over exercising and we glorify thinness in this culture. And if you live in a larger body, you are made to feel horrible about yourself. Alyssa Scolari: And so we [00:13:30] decided, you know what, we're making a course and we're going to talk about all of it. So in this course, we talk a lot about the diet industry, the weight loss industry, on all of the different ways in which the diet industry can come into your life without you knowing it. Alyssa Scolari: We talk about the diet industry and social media. We talk about why diets don't work and why the majority of people reach something called diet [00:14:00] burnout, which is where you're just so sick of doing all the diets and you just don't know what else to do but you physically cannot go on another diet. So, we talk about that. We talk about the different types of dieters out there and we talk about the alternative, which is intuitive eating. Alyssa Scolari: Now intuitive eating is another super trendy term, but there's also a ton of misinformation about [00:14:30] that out there, so we are breaking it down. Intuitive eating does not look like eating donuts all day, every day, and thinking, "Oh, Hey, I'm eating intuitively." A lot of people think that's what it is, especially people who are trying to promote their diets. Like, "Oh, don't do intuitive eating because they think you should eat donuts all day." That's not true. Alyssa Scolari: We talk about the different aspects of health and the stigma against [00:15:00] larger bodies that is even in our medical system, like what it can be like going to doctor's offices if you live in a larger body. Even so much as getting on an airplane. I struggled as somebody living in a larger body, to fit in one of the seats in the airplanes, going to Fiji, and I was really uncomfortable and really triggered and it just felt so unfair that airplanes aren't made for all body [00:15:30] types. So, we just talk about how ingrained fat phobia is. We talk a lot about fat phobia and really how to achieve letting go, ditching diet culture, becoming an intuitive eater. Alyssa Scolari: There's advice and direct tips in there for how to deal with loved ones and friends and family members and even doctors. When you're going to the doctor, to avoid having, if you don't want to get weighed, [00:16:00] or to avoid having to talk about weight. Or even tips in there for ways that you can deal with your children. If you are a parent and you are worried about your child being introduced to diet culture, this is a course that is absolutely for you. Or, if you're just somebody who's sick of dieting and you want to make peace with your body and you want to make peace with food, this is also a course for you. Alyssa Scolari: We also discuss eating disorders and we discuss the [00:16:30] link between food issues or eating disordered behaviors and trauma as well. So, that is an important piece. I'm not saying that every chronic diet, or every person who diets has a history of trauma, or has an eating disorder. I'm not saying that at all. But what I'm saying is, trauma has been found to be linked to the onset of eating disorders and disordered eating. And so we discuss that as well. Alyssa Scolari: Now, if you are a therapist and [00:17:00] you are looking for continuing education credits, you can also find that in this course. So, this course is either three modules or four modules, depending on what path you take. So, if you are a neurofeedback provider and you are looking to learn about how you can utilize neurofeedback to help clients with eating disorders, then you can sign up for all [00:17:30] four modules. If that does not apply to you, then you would sign up for three modules. If you signed up for the three modules, then you would get six credits. If you signed up for the four modules, then you would get eight credits. Alyssa Scolari: Now the exciting thing is, I will be teaching this course, live. So, if you want to come to the live teaching of this course, you can hang out with us. You can ask questions. I would love [00:18:00] to see you there. I have spent two years, two years today actually, talking to you all through this microphone and it would be an honor to get to see your beautiful faces. Alyssa Scolari: So, if you would like to attend the live teaching that will be held via Zoom, so it will be virtual, so anybody can attend, anywhere in the world and module one will be held on Thursday, September 22nd, [00:18:30] from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. And module two will be held September 29th, also a Thursday, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. And then the third module will be held October 6th and that will also be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and that is also a Thursday. The fourth module will be held on October 10th, and that will be from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Now all of these times [00:19:00] are Eastern Standard Time. Alyssa Scolari: So, if you are looking to sign up, but you live in a different part of the world, please make sure you take that into account. If you would like more information about this, you can head over to my Instagram. It is lightaftertrauma or my other personal Instagram, which is AlyssaScolari and also you can look in the show notes. The link to sign up will be in the show notes, [00:19:30] so you can do that, and you can also learn more about the course. Alyssa Scolari: And then also there is an early bird special running until September 9th, 2022. So if you would like a discount, if you want the early bird rate, please head over as soon as possible and make sure that you sign up before September 10th. So, September 9th is the last day that you can sign up. Alyssa Scolari: Now, for those of you who are interested in the course, [00:20:00] but you're like, "You know what? I don't think that I can make all those times work." That is okay. All is not lost because these live recordings will be recorded and they will be stored and you will be able to access the course at any time. So you can go in, you can purchase the course, and then you can have all the modules at once. And that's the same, whether you are a therapist, whether you are a parent, whether you are just somebody who wants to [00:20:30] see the course for yourself. Alyssa Scolari: This course is awesome. I have worked really hard on it. There's a lot of knowledge in here that honestly, people are not talking about and is not out there in the public and I got my information from two of the creators of Intuitive Eating, so I know that what I'm talking about is really, really helpful. It's all legitimate and I [00:21:00] can't wait. I cannot wait. I hope that this course helps you. I have been working on it for all of you and yeah, I just thank you. I thank you so much for all the support because if I didn't have the support, I wouldn't have even thought that this was possible. But because of you, it is, and I am really looking forward to seeing where this first course takes me and takes all of us. Alyssa Scolari: So, thank you so, so much for your time. [00:21:30] I know this isn't much of a content-oriented episode today, but I feel like I had a lot to catch up on and I wanted to introduce you to this new course. I hope you have a wonderful week. I love you all so much and I am holding you in the light. Alyssa Scolari: Thanks for listening everyone. For more information, please head over to lightaftertrauma.com or you can also follow us on social media. On Instagram, we are [00:22:00] at lightaftertrauma. And on Twitter, it is @lightafterpod. In part 3 of the story of Rav Avraham Yeshaya Karelitz (1878-1953), the Chazon Ish, his path is traced from his relative obscurity to his emergence as a leader. From expressing halachic positions for the Poalei Agudas Yisrael agricultural settlements, to building yeshivos across the new yishuv, the Chazon Ish soon emerged as a well known posek with the psak he issued regarding the International Dateline. While losing much of his family during the Holocaust and suffering other personal challenges during the 1940's, the decade saw him become an address for many seeking his advice and blessing as his fame began to spread. With the founding of the State of Israel in 1948, the Chazon Ish was at the cusp of his final position in the Jewish world - an undisputed leader. **Throwback Episode** This class was given on 4/5/11
Kia Ora and good day to you all - I have been away from the radio for a while because of the need to rest and do the usual recharge - but also take in information to build my knowingness as well as rekindle the fire of my innermost interior - you know ... as in keeping my flame healthily glowing. As you very well know with Covid surrounding us - we now live in a tumultuous world we have found ourselves in. To us living here in Nuclear Free New Zealand - we have never experienced as a whole country such turmoil - though when the Christchurch earthquakes hit 10 years ago, our Christchurch kin - suffered thousands of after-shocks for years that were psychologically traumatising for the people of that city and local surroundings. Today we are nearing the anniversary of the first Covid lockdown on the 28th of March of last year and then just last week for those on the East Coast and the North of New Zealand - we experienced the real threat of a tsunami shake us out of bed - to rapidly move to higher ground - this has increased the daily psychological pressure on our nation's people - like never before since mobilising hundreds of thousands and sending many off to war back in 1940 to 1945. So as of this moment countrywide we are on lockdown 1 and with only Auckland City in lockdown two. And as of 6 March 2021, New Zealand has had a total of 2,398 cases (2,042 confirmed and 356 probable. 26 people have died from the virus, with cases recorded in all twenty district health boards. However, we need to question how did all areas of NZ come into contact with Covid? But there is also a larger question and that of the 26 deaths in a country of less than 5 million - this represents an exceptionally tiny fraction - percentage-wise. Deaths: .0005% ; cases 0.04945% AND NO FLU STATS. Now with Covid, I want to ask - why no babies, no infants, no children, and teenagers dying of covid? - we need to revisit this question as to why are the young ones not as susceptible as the aged? Because, are not babies more vulnerable than most people as they have yet to build up their immune system? Naturally, I trust that in doing so, that healthy Mothers will nurture with their own milk - giving healthy sustenance to their babies. Yes, I also know of the pesticides, herbicides and fungicides that are ubiquitous in our food chain - yes glyphosate too and anxiety medications - but this is another topic for another time ... yet there are so many questions around Covid that need explaining - we are noticing that ... we can see so many urgent questions and pressure points squeezing our community. I note that within the NZ Government and Health Department Covid briefings on TV, I have never heard them encourage healthy eating and drinking practices. Like to obtain vitamin D from walks out in the sun and like taking in plenty of Vitamin C tablets every day. And there are excellent prices of $20 for 2 months supply. That to encourage us that citrus and fresh fruit and vegetables need to be eaten - which begs the question why does this government not take off GST from fruit and vegetables - like in Australia. Does not the NZ Government want a healthy, self-reliant and resilient workforce and population in general? Strange is it not? Also, why are the health authorities not encouraging the intake of fresh vital water that has not been sanitised by chlorine or with the addition now of fluoride? Notice that the current Labour government is pushing for chlorination of all water as well as fluoridation - nationwide. What's the hurry? Especially when it was only recently in Christchurch that the top Canterbury public health official, Dr. Alistair Humphrey has been sacked and is taking legal action against the District Health Board. It was he who fought against chlorinating (sanitising) the city's freshwater supplies. Saying all residents could have been forced to drink treated water, had it not been for him fighting the proposal for blanket chlorination. He also criticised the Ministry of Health for saying they could not do mass vaccination of Canterbury residents. So you can see that there are battles on numerous fronts within local government in New Zealand with regard to the health and wellbeing of our country's inhabitants. Thus with Covid we have found ourselves engulfed in an asymmetric, hybrid psychological world war - totally foreign to the human condition. Our planet's people from around early 2020 have been under a sustained mental and physical assault. That this event that we are in the middle of - meaning the mind virus that is gnawing its way through the airwaves via TV and radio and print media is accentuating the fear factor that has become a hypnotic attack on humanities daily thought practice and process and it's affecting our hearts of both young and old. Push Back Plan B Yet, in contrast to MSM there is at a micro level across NZ - we are hearing various opinions and insights as to how we as an astute and questioning public can consciously repel this Covid attack. With groups such as Plan B - www.covidplanb.co.nz - who are a team of professionals Doctors and scientists within NZ - who are saying - hold on - wait a minute there are other points of view and we are able to access these different viewpoints from some of the top Universities from around the world. It is bizarre, as Auckland has just exited the last lockdown, and it was estimated to cost our economy 300 million dollars per week, and as the queues in foodbanks are expected to grow, with the lives of our poorest communities most affected. The mantra of kindness gives cause to question the fallout - around this word. We also have Voices For Freedom - https://voicesforfreedom.co.nz Three young Mothers have pulled a very focused team to gather to question the Government and edit the mainstream narrative. Voices for Freedom are the NZ communities' response to wanting to do our own research and listen to other doctors, professors, scientists and health professionals to hear their perspective - especially as fake news, lies and untruths are ubiquitous to the world we inhabit. So the imperative to know is... We are entering a period of mass psychosis ... And we have to be like lions and go out and research... Just to mention a few things - When you look at the slider on GreenplanetFM.com - you will see that we have covered a good number of the challenges that are facing us. But check out our archives on the front page - it's very insightful - especially last year's interviews. Looking at the larger picture: You will also see that it is one continuous battle - this battle is for clean air, clean healthy water be it rivers lakes and oceans as well as healthy plentiful soil, abundant healthy food, preferably organic and healthy land, plus vegetation, and forests and a healthy animal kingdom that is treated mindfully and with compassion. So we as a human race - all 7.8 billion of us - sharing one breath - are continuously having to become more conscious and alert so as to keep the precious biosphere regenerating and sustainable for the children of today and tomorrow. The key takeaway here is that it has to be sustainable for humans and nature - that the corporate sector and their unbridled desires to 'sustain their consumptive habits' have to be tempered with the need for our planet and nature to regenerate - this to be factored in - we have to protect the global commons, like fish, for example, being extracted and netted at such a rate that the fish are unable to recover and eventually go extinct. Note that biodiversity is collapsing due to unconscious extraction and harvesting. Also, that still today in 2021 - Global Corporations who have never been known for showing compassion or empathy towards humanity are in many ways blindly following a dog eat dog - take no prisoners approach and if we humans do not become aware and organise ourselves and reign them in - they will herd us like cattle down a projectory that will lead us to ... well - you know where. Notice that corporations are still making planned obsolescent products that end up in a landfill somewhere. Believe me - here in our country recycling is abysmal. This is unconscious thinking - we have become a throwaway society and we are programming our children to become unconscious consumers - readying us to throw ourselves away as well. Now I want to be able to address the Covid situation because there are many anomalies that are now being questioned. With Peter Williams New Zealand television presenter and sportswriter who currently hosts the morning talkback programme on Magic Talk, a MediaWorks radio network. This below from wikipedia: which I am not necessarily a fan of - but you make up your mind for yourself. In Early February 2021, Peter Williams asked for opinions on talk back radio (and interviewed professionals such as Dr Simon Thornley an epidemiologist at Auckland University who has mentioned that the Covid Stats do not stack up on many levels). Evidently Peter Williams directed listeners to an anti-vaccine site, a NZ website called 'Voices for Freedom' which according to certain pundits, was supposedly spreading COVID-19 misinformation. There's a link to this - So I encourage you to follow up what this touted - misinformation is. Also in mid-February 2021, Williams questioned the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Grant Robertson about his views on the possible implications of the World Economic Forum's Great Reset for New Zealand, and the related Great Reset Conspiracy Theory. In response, Robertson ended his weekly Magic Talk interviews, stating that he did not want to "shoot down conspiracy theories." We will get to the Great Reset further on in the program. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Williams_(broadcaster) https://www.newsroom.co.nz/magic-talks-peter-williams-gives-shout-out-to-anti-vaxxers Now I want to back up a little to give you a little history - to allow you a deeper understanding of why I have involved myself in radio and GreenplanetFM.com - which has as its main premise - environment - health and consciousness - because within the biosphere - if we have a healthy environment and ecology - we have a better opportunity to be healthy ourselves - in body, mind, and spirit and then we have consciousness this includes becoming aware of our place in time and space as a human living on this planet. So back in the early 1990s, I was active in calling for a global family - and even before that in 1986 I was very much engaged here in NZ being involved in Global Meditations - where we synchronised on a planet round basis to meditate and pray for world peace at a very specific time. I was helped by Michael Fleck and Gillian Poole in what we thought was a very noble idea - to encourage people through all walks of life to take time out from all the distractions of life and focus on a peaceful world. This global peace meditation was centered on 12 noon Greenwich mean time UK on the 31st of December - that translated to 12 midnight on the 31st of December here in New Zealand because we were at 180 degrees on the opposite side of our planet. This meditation peace prayer was initiated by John Randolph Price https://www.johnrandolphprice.com of the Quartus Foundation based in Texas in the US - who with a team across America and elsewhere encouraged humanity and all who were listening to come together for this spiritual event on December 31st of each year. It was called World Healing Day, especially the World Instant of Cooperation, or World Peace Day - a moment of Oneness - to dissolve the sense of separation and return humankind to Godkind. Like us being a conduit between heaven and earth. To me here in NZ we occupied a very significant position being 12 midnight on the 31st of December - being like the first domino or first cab off the rank into the new year - as we were 12 hours ahead of the United Kingdom at that particular time - because we did not have daylight saving in this country in those days. So when everyone else were meditating in 1986 - we in NZ were already meditating in 1987 at 1 minute past 12 midnight - so we wanted to set the tone of this template by already - being anchored in a peaceful future - like the saying - NZ sees tomorrow first - because we are the closest major country to the international date line - which runs down from between Russia and Alaska and is situated just over 100 kilometres off the East Coast NZ City of Gisborne. So being so close to this dateline we wanted to model being a living example of a peaceful country.- and hence the name and the moment - the World Instant of Cooperation … We had a good reason for involving ourselves as … on 10 July 1985. During a covert military operation, two French military operatives sank the flagship of the Greenpeace fleet, Rainbow Warrior, here in New Zealand at the Port of Auckland as it was on its way to protest at Mururoa in French Polynesia - where the French had first tested nuclear weapons in the atmosphere and were also conducting tests underground, deep under coral atolls. Also at that time in 1985 - New Zealand was basking in its position as leader of the pro no-nuclear movement. Then on 10 July, two explosions set by these French Secret Service agents ripped through the hull of the Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior, taking the life of one of its crewmen causing an international uproar that was to remain in the headline news for months to come. Well, to give this story some context both Michael Fleck and I had been on board the Rainbow Warrior 36 hours before it was bombed and we wanted to embrace the high ground and involve ourselves in what we thought was an idea whose time had come. Have NZ be a pioneer for global peace and as we were situated so very close to the International Date Line - this was time for NZ to be a planetary leader once again. Previous to this we had both been very much involved in taking to the NZ public the new idea at the time - that of the Gaia hypothesis that James Lovelock had brought to the world - you may remember - the ancient Greek idea that our planet is a colossal living superorganism and that basically, we were extensions of our planet because our bodies are made from the air, water and minerals and thus as an awakening conscious being - we could share this notion that we need to take care of both our future and our planet - Thus - by working and being for peace and a prosperous future for humanity and that at that time on earth there were less than 5 billion souls sharing breath and now today we have 7.8 billion … But, more so as another important component we were also integrating Rupert Sheldrake's Morphic Resonance into the equation. Sheldrake.org - being that if enough people consciously think, feel and be in peace and if there was enough of us resonating with this heartfelt ideal (state of being) that we could reach a global tipping point and hit a critical mass - and then with say 10 percent or even less of humanity doing it - this would break open into a new realm that would then shift the balance and cascade us all into a new paradigm of consciousness and world peace. This was also based on the Hundredth Monkey phenomenon - see wikipedia.org So this is very important - that we need to remember and embrace, because with the madness of what is going on in the world' - we need to take time out, to be with ourselves or friends of like mind and sit still in peace, and thankfulness - especially here in New Zealand - which even today at this very moment possibly the most fortunate country on earth to reside in. For as you very well know Mainstream Media can not be trusted anymore - Fake News is everywhere including social media so the imperative is to basically follow the money and do one's homework in researching and then cross-reference it. So as you can hear - there is a method in all this madness to awaken our connection to the fact that we are a global family - albeit somewhat very disconnected from each other - yet knowing that we all share the same breath on this planet - that of the invisible breath that keeps all of humanity as well as animals and vegetation alive. We are far more connected than we actually realise. I then interviewed Bill Watson on the phone who was a Professor of Psychology in China and Taiwan and is also an Alternative Health Practitioner specialising in Bio-Energetic Medicine. Bill attended the recent Voices of Freedom Symposium in Auckland Bills Report: The Voices Symposium— was well attended, about 100 people, and well managed; there were six informative presentations, followed by a Q&A session addressed to the panelists. I found the event to be quite an uplifting experience, even though the topic is seriously depressing…because everyone felt free to express their opinion knowing it was “safe”, that they were in company with open minds that had done some research…so it was wonderful information exchange, and the panel gave clear, factual and inspiring talks about different aspects of the situation we all find ourselves in. My sense was there was a lot of networking and everyone left on a “high”-- like, something positive is finally happening, and we’re part of it. The founders of the movement are three mothers whose approach has been sufficiently subtle to attract many Kiwis who might have been put off by the more common "in-your-face" approach, and what I saw at Voices was different from the usual gathering of gold cardholders: there were people of all ages at the meeting expressing concerns and sharing information. This is incredibly important to me as a father because in the big picture Voices for Freedom IS about reclaiming our core values as humans: freedom of choice, freedom of speech, freedom of movement. People are starting to wake up to the wider implications of this pandemic and vaccine rollout, to the fact that its devastating impact has been engineered by a cabal: they are doing the research, reading the 2010 Rockefeller Foundation report that spells out the agenda in detail. They are looking at the videos of the Gates Foundation’s “Agenda 201” meeting—and they are connecting the dots. They are listening to MDs who are independent, not vaccine-sponsored. As you mentioned, this is a global mass psychosis: this is resulting from the denial of reality. Why? it is impossible for many New Zealanders who have faith in their elected representatives to accept the possibility that they are being betrayed on such a massive scale…and so they turn their back on conflicting data, and behave in a rather paranoid manner--- demonise or dob in their neighbours, sometimes friends or family, and polarise the community because they can’t handle the cognitive dissonance. (the mental conflict that occurs when beliefs or assumptions are contradicted by new information; as Nietzche put it sometimes people don’t want to hear the truth because they don’t want their illusions destroyed). When you try to talk to the nonverbals they are, my mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with the facts…and the resolution of their mental conflict is typically believing comforting lies, which are easier to live with than unpleasant truths. And this betrayal, that we experience as attacks on our individual (and national) sovereignty, are coming from three main sources: social media censorship, manipulative mainstream messaging that aims for thought control, and political correctness designed to force behavioural compliance. -And what is the source of these lies? They come from offshore, part of the larger plan known the Great Reset, which encompasses far more than just the lockdown/vaccine agenda; it is also the 5G/ IoT / IoB/ Transhumanist agenda, the Green New Deal (global warming, CO2 agenda), the economic destruction/digital currency/Build Back Better agenda, (all genocidal) and ultimately the New World Order/ UN-driven Communism 3.0 agenda, as explicitly carved into the Georgia guidestones and cleverly built into UN agenda 2030. Different agenda items, though all linked together, have been propagandised in order to appeal to different groups/individuals; when you choose to "buy into" (or are bought into) one, you're in them all—sold your soul. Each item has its own champion, funded by higher-level sponsors: Gates for the first phase, Gore for the next, LaGarde and banksters for the economy, Soros and Guiiterres for the transfer of national sovereignty to the UN. Schwab oversees the plan and he reports up to the “lower house” of the World Governing Council, which is composed of mainly corporate elite. And make no mistake, this IS a coup. Here is the thing about a coup we need to understand... Once the perpetrators or conspirators take their plan out of the planning stage and put the plan into motion, there is no turning back. Totally exposed and guilty of treason if they fail, their lives are in great danger and no matter what is said or exposed, they must push forward till they have total control. Others have tried and failed using a similar strategy. It was revealed that Hitler used the same strategy as they are deploying now: he told the German people that Jews were "diseased", which triggered the same level of irrational fear that is currently causing people to line up for injection and get irrationally angry at their vaccine-hesitant friends and neighbours. What is being carried out is a well-defined psychological tactic because they instill fear in the mass herd of human sheep. Everyone to some degree has anxiety about catching a virus, you can’t see it and it could be deadly. (anxiety versus. fear: anxiety is worse because you don’t know how bad it is! You can calibrate the fear response when you know) Then they count on obedience to authority to make the population controllable as was the case under communism. It’s all based on ideology, which is a worldview constructed from theories, beliefs, or philosophies--primarily economic, political, or religious—which has been used for centuries as the oppressive intellectual armoury of a social class. As Warren Buffett notoriously said: “There’s class warfare, all right, but it’s my class, the rich class, that’s making war, and we’re winning. You could say that the goal of the “undeclared war” is to eliminate the middle class by the destruction of the economic system, and you wouldn’t be far wrong. The primary goal seems to be to reduce the population of the planet by more than 80%. Georgia Guidestones bear witness to that goal. The intent is to recreate “Haves (nobles), have nots” (serfs), who are dependent and controllable through technocracy and transhumanist technology…and return the planet to its pre-industrial medieval state Re: there are battles raging on numerous fronts within local government with regard to the health and wellbeing of New Zealanders. IMO This is just the beginning. We’ve already seen it with 5G, and the blowback on vaccines will be massive and ... The death rate worldwide following COVID mRNA vaccinations has been terrible: last week the CDC and FDA reported that in the 10 week period between Dec. 14 and Feb. 19, there were 19,769 Significant Vaccine Adverse Events worldwide, of which 966 died shortly after receiving an mRNA vaccine. It is all documented; we just don’t hear about it in the mainstream media. They started the Pfizer-only Vax rollout in Israel mid December; according to my source, who is an Israeli citizen living there, they started with the “religious” I asked what he meant by that and he said the orthodox Jews...28 reported dead from the vaccine, some as young as 25 with no prior health problems: In January 2021 after a month, there were 3,000 records of vaccine adverse events-- 2,900 of them from the mRNA vaccine. Compared to other years, mortality is 40 times higher, and vaccinations have caused more deaths than the coronavirus would have caused during the same period. Doctor Herve’ Seligmann challenged the Israeli government in the face of pressure to vaccinate citizens, calling it “..a new Holocaust”. What is happening in Israel right now with the rollout of the experimental Pfizer mRNA vaccine is what they have purchased and started to roll out here in NZ as well; we should be watching the Israeli statistics carefully. (and South Aucklanders are the first targeted group. Surprised?) Since the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, the draconian measures being applied against Israeli citizens are like the Chinese Communist Party -CCP level - insane. Israel currently has the highest rate of vaccination in the world and has introduced the “Green Passport” program across the country, which creates a form of apartheid, a Medical Fascist State by discriminating against non-vaccinated citizens to prevent them from going into theatres, gyms, hotels, and other public venues. This has created a tense, divisive atmosphere; the Israeli government is coercing/ intimidating/ shaming citizens to accept that taking this vaccine is the only way back to normal life. Non-vaccinated students can’t attend in-person classes and non-vaccinated restaurant patrons are forbidden from entering the building. MSM Journalists are increasingly having trouble because the facts they are receiving from credible sources are increasingly in conflict with the official narrative. These are verifiable facts about the huge number of adverse reactions to the Pfizer vaccine, the tragic effects that lockdowns are having on families and businesses, the lies about masks, the destruction of the global economy and the middle class, and the wider transhumanist agenda. If the Great Reset slogans like “you will own nothing and you will be happy” seem to be total madness, consider that every crazy new official report or video is part of their Plan, which will not end with mass vaccinations; it will go on with climate madness, total surveillance, thought control; a totalitarian agenda. The Virus is just the entry point into a world-wide tyrannical control operation. One of their primary goals is to alter our DNA by unending mRNA vaccinations. According to my sources, neither of the mRNA vaccines, Pfizer, or Moderna, are FDA approved, rather, they have what’s called an EUA (Emergency Use Approval). In Belgium, a group called doctors for freedom published a link with a worldwide map of registered adverse reactions of the vaccines, and they said “The first vaccines they are offering us are not vaccines. They are gene therapy products. They…inject a synthetic pathogen, nucleic acids that cause our own cells to produce elements of the virus.” Essentially, your own cells make you sick, and can indirectly cause numerous diseases. That’s a Bioweapon! And this pandemic is biofascism--a war against human beings and the qualities that make us human. And [as mentioned in a previous podcast] that will have consequences for the human soul. You asked: Does not the NZ Government want a healthy, self-reliant and resilient work force and population in general? Based on empirical evidence, the answer would have to be NO. Many people have pointed out that there has been no advice coming from mainstream media or government about prophylaxis (preventive measures like vits A, C, D and Zn); the ones who are talking about ways to support immune systems; Fx&I MDs, alternative practitioners only. [this is a key point] Soon there will be many vaccinated people beyond frontline workers. What I have not heard from any NZ health official is how to prevent the spread of COVID by the vaccinated! According to a report from a source in Switzerland, they will be contagious and sloughing off the virus for weeks after their injection, so there should be some way to identify them. This info came from Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche, DVM, Ph.D. virology, independent seasoned vaccine researcher, who has held key roles with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and GAVI. He says the worldwide vaccination campaigns should be halted because there is “…compelling evidence that they will soon dramatically worsen the consequences of the current pandemic.”* (doco attached) At this time perhaps one of the most important choices is choosing who to listen to, and where to research vital topics. Lockdowns, unprecedented mass hysteria and drummed-up fear are the product of ideology, and we are not powerless to defend our vital freedoms against power-hungry politicians, even if we are lacking journalists who are up to the task. Ok Tim I will try to recreate what I talked about in the last 10 minutes of this interview: we led in with the Fourth Industrial Revolution; I went into too much detail and you were going to do a wrap when I mentioned a few things that I thought people should consider doing. Here goes: As parents, we need to realise that our sacred mission is to protect those souls we brought into this darkening world from the cull that has started. This lifetime is a school, start to finish. Third density reality is about making choices…it is not easy at the best of times because we cannot see the consequences of our actions. Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it. Educate people on the coming changes: the perfidy, betrayal, sellout of humanity. People will change their minds. When they do, welcome them. Do not chide, but ask—“We have been watching the same movie. How did we initially arrive at different conclusions? And what has changed your mind/heart? And how can we work together? Your voice makes a difference. Let’s make it too big to ignore: consider the recent Berlin rally. With guest speaker Robert Kennedy Jr We are fighting for our lives, our children’s lives. We do not consent. This rollout is part of their game—but you don’t have to play Learn about Common Law. It is clear that other approaches to governance must be found, a new Magna Carta, a new Social Contract must be written. Get educated about alternatives to the official narrative. Knowledge protects, and we are a vulnerable species. Knowing others is wisdom; knowing the self is enlightenment. Here is the link to the former GAVI strategic planning manager’s letter (I think that’s what SPM means in this context) The 4th Industrial Revolution: Let's make it a people's revolution. Back to the land, clean up the place without killing 7 billion humans. They want to yammer on about CO2 when the elephant in the room is--chemtrails/geoengineering/nanoparticulates poisoning the air, water, soil, crops...and EMF creating health problems via an orbiting satellite - a junkyard - and use of inappropriate bands of the EM spectrum. It will CRASH because where no love sings, there is only noise...and it is being driven by demons. Here's the text, use as you see fit. This is simultaneously a time of great opportunity and a time of the possibility of massive destruction. We have started the fourth and final phase of “Industrial Revolutions'', which were each generated by inventions that changed the source and uses of energy. The first began in the late 18thC (1765) with the steam engine, which facilitated the mechanization of agriculture and coal extraction. The second (1870) began with discoveries of electricity, gas, and oil, which resulted in the creation of the chemical industry, the internal combustion engine, automobiles and airplanes. Simultaneously, new methods of communication--the telegraph and the telephone--were introduced. The third revolution (1969) brought peaceful use of nuclear energy and new electronic, telecommunication and computer technologies, all of which supported R&D in biotech, space exploration, robotics and artificial intelligence. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is the concept of blurring the real world with the technological world. According to the World Economic Forum, the focus will be on “cyber-physical systems”. We can see this happening already: virtual reality devices, robots and software that work side-by-side with humans, injectable nano-bots, 3D printers, medical diagnostic tools, the internet of things (and bodies) are a few examples. This merging of technology into every part of our lives is becoming the “new norm”. It is a dominant feature of the Great Reset, planned for this year. However, it is invasive technology, and this “reset” has the earmarks of a technocracy/transhumanist takeover. Resistance is growing rapidly, so the impact that the fourth industrial revolution will have, how long it will last, or the direction it will take is not yet known. A wave of technology is now crashing into our personal and professional lives like a ton of bricks, and implementation based on a strategy of medical tyranny has thus far been heavy-handed, even “ham-fisted”, using fear-based tactics. So the question becomes, will humans embrace or reject this new level of technology when it becomes evident that it comes with a negative impact on personal health, safety and liberty? Tim, there are profound implications here… Klaus Schwab - a vertical integration takeover of Humanity - https://humansarefree.com/2021/03/decoding-davos-the-global-endgame.html COVID facts that gives us cause to question: This below came in from overseas: If you really believe there is really a pandemic, why don't you hear the constant wail of ambulance sirens throughout the day and night? If there really is a pandemic, then why are undertakers saying business is either normal or less than usual? If there really is a pandemic, then why don't we see endless queues in cemeteries and crematoriums bearing their loved ones? If there really is a pandemic, then why are all the statistics stating that the death rate is within normal parameters last year? If there really is a pandemic, then why have all the normal influenza deaths almost disappeared? If the first lockdown works, then why are we doing the same thing again? If the lockdowns did not work, then why are we doing the same thing again? "Expecting a different outcome from the same procedure is a clear sign of insanity" - Albert Einstein Why is the government listening only to their own panel of experts, but refusing to listen to the vast majority of doctors, nurses, and health experts? [World Doctor's Alliance being one source.] Why are there scenes on TV of pandemonium in hospitals when in reality they are all empty? Where are all the people? Where is all the pandemonium? If there really is a pandemic, then why are there thousands of nurses out of work? [BBC News 4/20/20] If the pandemic started in 2019, then how did all the governments around the world order and deliver Covid 19 PCR test kits the year before in the year 2018? If used and discarded masks could be highly contagious, then why do we see thousands of them littering the streets and countrysides? If there really is a worldwide pandemic, then why do we see the rules and regulations differ greatly from city to city and country to country? If Covid doesn't affect children, then why are the schools shut? If masks work, then why haven't we been using them every year for the flu? Why have we never seen people kneeling over and dying in the streets? If we should avoid crowds and people, then why are the supermarkets, which can hold hundreds of people open, but your corner shop which can only hold three people, shut? Why is the government calling positive PCR tests "cases" and not just a "positive result?" Why has the BBC and ALL other media outlets failed to tell you that the World Health Organization (WHO) has published an update stating that the PCR tests are UNRELIABLE and should not be used? If a cough or sneeze droplet can carry up to 30 feet, then why are we socially distancing only 6 feet? Why are you OK with rubbing poison into your skin 10 times a day? Why do we need an experimental DNH vaccine for a virus with a 99.97 recovery rate? If the vaccine works, then why can you still catch and transmit the disease after you get the vaccine? If you get the vaccine, then why do you still have to wear a mask and social distance? How many people do you personally know that have died solely from Covid? Then compare that number to how many people you know that have vaccine-damaged family members. OPEN YOUR EYES EVERYONE and look around. Ask yourself, next time you leave your house, "Am I really seeing a deadly pandemic? If the answer to this last question is yes, then you really need to TURN OFF your television! "It is much easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled." --Mark Twain Klaus Schwab - a vertical integration takeover of Humanity - https://humansarefree.com/2021/03/decoding-davos-the-global-endgame.html Resources: www.therealnews.nz - that Covid is an entry-level ‘event’ into the New World Order. https://gbdeclaration.org - Signed by, 13,705 medical & public health scientists and 41,445 medical practitioners - The Great Barrington Declaration https://covidcalltohumanity.org Burning Questions - https://www.europereloaded.com/germanys-extra-parliamentary-cv-investigative-commission-launching-class-action-suit-against-corona-criminals-video/ https://sciprint.blogspot.com/2021/02/the-greatest-nuremberg-of-all-time-is.html?fbclid=IwAR01M_UnwgSPZPQlzzXW1FH5sSm_b41uUEVlLPjYxA9NZBKaA5R6aMaX6_M&m=1 What is happening on earth at present is a power grab for the human race. It is being actioned without any ‘consultation’ and debate especially with the people of all the countries of the Western World. When were we in NZ consulted about Agenda 21 or Agenda2030? However the NZ Prime Minister in addressing the Bill and Melinda Gates Goal Keepers Conference on 26th September 2019 stated that our Government will actively commit to Agenda21 and Agenda2030 - but the video of her address has had that segment deleted. Because these two Agendas are becoming taboo - these have been ‘masked’ by other wording - so as to keep the public hoodwinked. https://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/new-zealand/gates-foundation-event-ardern-calls-other-nations-copy-nzs-wellbeing-budget This is the TVOne version of that Conference that refer to both Agenda’s - that is conveniently excluded in this clip - but, it is in the public arena. I have seen it. https://www.beehive.govt.nz/speech/wellbeing-cure-inequality https://stovouno.org/2019/09/21/agenda-21-and-the-draft-nz-biodiversity-strategy/ https://stovouno.org The World Economic Forum at the behest of the banking families and the Rothschilds etc have been planning the Great Reset for generations and have been waiting for the ‘perfect crisis’ and now, under the guise of Covid have set their Great Reset Plan in motion and for them, there is no turning back now. They will relentlessly pursue this course of action until they have a planetary lockdown-control system that is controlled by them. Unless ‘we’ break this spell - there will be no return to the freedoms we once had. Or to even debate them in a public forum. Connect with your neighbours and friends at a community level. Build warm connections around food growing and sharing of skills and resources. It’s called relocalisation - supporting each other as small cells connecting with other cells to make contact with other warm-hearted groups and teams. United we stand - divided we fall. The rapid chaotic change that is upon us is fundamentally a spiritual crisis - the human race has disconnected from their source and enmeshed themselves in the trappings of matter. With 7.8 billions souls on our planet - the absence of love across all races has to be bridged. The global family has to find innovative and creative ways to come together - especially for the sake of all children of today and tomorrow. This just came through on Telegram with this message:
Wake Island was attacked on the same day as Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941 (December 8th on Wake Island across the International Date Line). A few months later, on August 11th, 1942, Paramount Pictures released the war propaganda film Wake Island. To help us separate fact from fiction in the movie, we’ll be chatting with Professor Gregory J. W. Urwin from Temple University. Gregory is a military historian who has written two fantastic books about Wake, including Facing Fearful Odds: The Siege of Wake Island, which is a book that many consider to be the definitive account of the battle. In this post covid lockdown humanity is up for grabs. Whatever media can do to distract you and sew seeds of doubt and fear - you can be assured they want your attention and they want it all the time. The media are not here to empower us from an inner standpoint. Nor are they here to inspire us at a spiritual level - or that of soul. Reason being, is that we instead are being programmed to be walking desire bodies, to become consumers that will end up … consuming our life support systems. How can we break the spell …? Regarding: COVID 5G Governmental Laws Freeing up who we in essence - are. Kia Ora and greeting dear listeners, Tim from GreenplanetFM, here in Auckland in Nuclear Free New Zealand - Note that Nuclear Free was once a big deal. Yet, for some unknown reason it seems no longer? However, I am communicating and checking-in to see that you and your family are healthy, relaxed and well. That in particular you are well resourced both externally and internally and that your inner candle burns strongly in these very unsettling of times. You may have wondered why GreenplanetFM.com has been somewhat quiet over the last two months - well it has been to gather information that is factual and empowering and in particular gives us a planetary overview as to what is happening in this profoundly eventful year - of 2020 - where I trust we have the clarity of vision to foresee the challenges and possibilities at this critical point in time, as we enter the third decade of the 21st Century. To give you a heads up - I will mention a few pointers that I wish to cover during this program, so as to let you know what are the priorities of today’s GreenplanetFM.com show Note, that as this is all voluntary, especially this write up by me, I invite you to understand that I am not a wordsmith or a radio jock, just an ordinary human being doing my best for a better world view and biosphere for all. First: Is - of our unique perspective from NZ - being so far from anywhere - we are in many ways on the outside looking in - at all the events on earth. Then - this COVID crisis and Lock down - and the question - is this just ‘a very virulent’ flu virus that mainly affects the elderly and those with compromised immune systems? Is this global COVID event - a pretext for an evolutionary shift and is a precursor to a new paradigm? That the mass of humanity are confronting a gigantic change in perspective - like mass ‘consciousness’ readying itself for a new interpretation on life?? ‘That it is more than a revolution - but a Paradigm shift’ - to a higher level of being? That this crisis may have a darker motive- being used by vested ‘global banking interests’ to ‘close down economies’ and get countries and people into more debt? And, has the lockdown been used as a practice by ‘the powers that be’ to see how in the future they know how to accomplish a complete planet wide lock down of the global population, and their hand held communication systems too? Does 5G play a darker role as it is rolled out ‘under urgency’ across virtually all countries, globally? But on a lighter side - that due to the lock down ordinary people have been able to meet their neighbours, and realise that we are surrounded by many good hearted and kind people we never knew. That we may be able to reboot the local and national economies with a sense of more cooperation, goodwill, relocalising and seeing our communities more from a grassroots and holistic standpoint. That we here in NZ have an opportunity to lead by example in working with the land and nature in a far more conscious and regenerative way. That brings us into more communion with nature’s bounty. Is this crisis an evolutionary driver to compel us to recognise that we may be or are ... spiritual beings having an earth experience - and that it’s impelling us to grow into a higher level of being? And what does this mean in relationship to our metaphysical connection to all existence. That at soul level - will this lead to an unveiling of a greater cosmic story? We are here today - all sharing of the same invisible breath that our planet and biosphere bequeaths all biota. Which I wish to address some of the many issues from a local to a global perspective - because we here in NZ may have a very different vantage point, being tucked away around the curve of our home planet - about four thousand kilometers away from Antarctica and a little over 2,000 kilometers from Australia. We are somewhat isolated, from any large land mass - to the degree that NZ is also the closest major country to the International date line - which means ‘we see tomorrow first’ - being 2 hours ahead of Australia - around 12 hours ahead of the UK and and around 16 hours in front of the USA - (depending on daylight saving.) Hence our strategic situation - to be ahead of time. Though this may not necessarily mean that we in this country are ahead of the curve, we also could be seen as being ‘used as a localised experimental guinea pig in a living laboratory in a planetary wide social experiment as well’. Being so close to the International Date Line it could be said - from a science fictional point of view - we are already domiciled in ‘tomorrow land.’ That this may assist us in seeing differently - the status of our planet - be it from a geopolitical perspective, or within the homeostatic bubble of the biosphere - abounding and occupied with myriads of wildlife. But, more so - seeing our planet as a colossal living superorganism, called Gaia or as Maori say, Papatuanku - and as David Icke once said to me - that our planet is a vast swirling - information field. That from our situation - we can realise that our world view may be very different, but it is only from a point of view of perspective. Remember our human body too is a mass of subatomic frequencies - we too are an information system, and an energy field within a greater universal - energy field. From this standpoint - where subatomic physics and biology coalesce - it is imperative that we learn and understand that humanity as we know it to be - are entering another paradigm, a new way of being - and that we are also coming to an ‘omega point’ in the evolution of our planet and civilisation. This was first advanced by Teilhard de Chardin, the evolutionary, trail blazing Catholic priest, who was ‘shunned’ by both the Pope and Rome early last century. His message is also translating to a spiritual awakening as well, that we all share the same breath and that deep down within our being we have realised that there is far more to our life than ‘to be born - to reproduce - and to die.’ This is important to dwell on. We are more than just following our animal instincts. Therefore, I wish to touch on this shift that is affecting us all - as we grapple with the reality of the world - a world that is changing so fast - and regrettably for many there is no eject or slo-mo button - because in truth we have to come to terms with what’s in our face - especially the corruption of the economic and political order that is in lockstep with unbridled media and fake news, and how we urgently need to discern truth from fallacy. And its important - we owe it to our children and grandchildren - we definitely do … and this is what I am hearing, especially since that smoke filled day of the 5th of January, 2020 when bushfire smoke blew across from Australia and obliterated the clear atmosphere of NZ - which caused many of my friends and acquaintances to question what we are bequeathing our youth and our young ones of tomorrow? Because at heart we all intuitively know that the way our industrial civilization has been intensifying and multiplying - that the consequences of profit before people and future generations would in the end have us all - going over the cliff. We also know that we have been living excessively and totally unsustainably. We intuitively ‘get it’ that our planet and nature can only take so much unconscious punishment. So now we have had a breather - and this breather to many, especially for those living in cities - has been the clearest air that we have breathed for many, many years and even decades and longer - we are now realising that what we have been putting into our body temple - our lungs has put our health at major risk, and the statistics globally give us ample evidence of this pollution, especially in China and India where the data has gone through the ceiling. So during this ‘virus’ time-out - ‘rahui’ (Maori for rest and recovery) can we reflect on this global current ‘event’ which has affected us all here in NZ, too. Though compared with other countries we in NZ have not experienced the suffering that many others are still experiencing. We are indeed fortunate. The Global Lockdown Little did we know that the whole dynamics of our world view would alter, that over just a couple of days in March, we would all be virtually confined in our homes, flats and apartments - nationwide and in all Western countries (excepting Sweden). But, that’s another story. The Fear that Resulted What I find is more than a little interesting is the amount of fear that has been generated as a result of COVID - raw fear to be exact. To the degree that I had a friend arrive at my place and though we have been close for 40 years - they definitely did not want to give me a hug, they thought that this virus was like the plague! So what are the consequences for our global population? Though there are 7.7 billion souls on earth, a web search says that about ⅓ of the earth’s population is/has been locked down, but it will be some time before we get the real numbers. Media Influence Meanwhile - with global communication at our fingertips and ubiquitous MSM blasting our sensibilities in all directions - (whilst also coming under increasing scrutiny) - we can yet be further more distracted by the hundreds of thousands of social media postings ‘some very conscious and mindful’ - filling our minds with data - some of it conflicting, but there is some really good information and inspiration out there. … Time to Self Reflect However as covid fatigue is also upon us we need to stop and reflect on - ‘why me, why here and why now?’ This to me is the time to ask ourselves - what is life all about? More later in this article. A Global Catharsis? Because we are in many ways ... going through a catharsis on a global scale - definitely in the Westen world - and … seeing we have been engulfed in consumerism, and materialism … and its offshoot - planned obsolescence and pollution and that so many of us are just awash in ‘stuff’ - that includes debt and mortgages. But, that’s only part of it. We have been sucked in and distracted by glamour, celebrity and titillation and … all that glitters - is definitely not gold. So we are a little worn out as if we have been washed up on the beach and the tide has gone out … and it’s time to reorient our whole being to another way … we have to make a conscious choice or shall I say - it would be a good idea to start looking if not transforming our life to at least look at renewal and regeneration of who and how we can be. So what is it that is going to change us enough to that of a happy, joyful, caring and compassionate creative being? Well ...There are a number of things that I intuit are important ... Because every baby born into this realm is an energy bundle of exponential potential - and that’s true, we are just that - energy bundles of exponential potential and we have forgotten this. Have we been programmed to become ‘gods of limitation?’ This is an important statement. Is our present predicament of helplessness and victimhood, due to unconsciously being programmed to become ‘gods of limitation’ and we have in many ways become self fulfilling prophecies, and locked ourselves into this body that we inhabit whilst all around us in every direction is both infinity and eternity. The whole universe in all directions is just coiling with suns through deep dimensions of time. And here we are ... isolated cases ... that if we could see with a higher more expanded vision - that we are all extensions of a global family. The human family, that we are a part of. The other thing that I touched on earlier - is we have let our ‘inner candle’ go out. Or worse … we did not even know we had an inner candle - this links us with a spiritual dimension that at soul level is integral with our relationship to the whole of existence. This is big. Ok - enough of the preamble … Getting back to our day to day life, that we have been dealing quite intensely with over the last 8 or so weeks. That what this invisible and stealthy virus has done is brought us into a new awareness of the hidden dangers of reality. Even though we have been dealing with unseen atomic radiation since Hiroshima and Fukushima and now with Covid in so many countries. But, there is also the continuing deployment of the 5G telephone system, globally - coming under the spotlight. We are truly being initiated into the Aquarian age of the unseen world. As Nikola Tesla stated - that when humankind starts researching the invisible - we will make more progress in one decade than in all of our history. Yet though every town and city on earth are powered by Tesla’s genius - we are still light years of understanding what he offered humanity. So as an additional question? Do you really know much about Nikola Tesla? New Stringent Laws Enacted by the NZ Government Now today, we have the NZ Labour Government who were shoehorned into power by the goodwill of a minor party at the last election. They have enacted legislation under urgency - to basically take control of NZers lives - like never before. This legislation gives excessive power to our Health Minister and the police: meaning ‘warrantless searches of our homes.’ Fortunately, this legislation has to be taken back to Parliament to be re enacted every 90 days - at least this offers some kind of sunset clause - that if we can eliminate the covid virus - then we can do away with this Law, we trust - forever. Never let a good crisis go to waste. This is a saying that has been bandied around over the decades by numerous people in power, globally - and if a situation requires drastic action, this was one instance. There was another one in the previous John Key Government, that was based on the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) that collects and analyses intelligence. The politicians who voted against this Intelligence Bill that was pushed through ‘under urgency’ - all voted for this one over the last week. Yes, the very strange dynamics of politics. Invasion of the COVID virus. Tim’s Note. During the SARS situation I flew into China from the 4th of July staying to the 22 August 2003 living in the Zhejiang Province during this time. I had entered Shanghai airport when officials wore masks and we were tested with a breathing apparatus at Customs. But, by the time I left the country these measures had been relaxed. I also was in skype contact over the last few months with friends in their high rise apartment in the city of Suzhou around the same distance from Wuhan as Auckland is to Wellington and at first they were confined to their building, and had food ordered by email sent in, but prior to the 18h of April, for a week they had already been flying around China with no need to take drastic measures. It has been relaxed there ever since, so I was told. The COVID:19 There is still a big question that many more people are scratching their heads about. Is this a new dangerous virus or is it a more virulent flu? One that affects the elderly more than children? Especially those with compromised immunity systems. The statistics show that this seems to be the case - especially in NZ. However, I encourage you to do your own research and please don’t go to a Government website, or specifically a corporate website - find out from numerous different sources. Once Search Engines Were Independent Just note that Google is not necessarily a friend of humanity and like its subsidiary, Youtube, though they have some excellent information, which Google owns - these Internet mutations constantly use algorithms to sideline you if you question the status quo. Twitter is the same too. You have to be far more adroit in using the web to do your research. Why, because these Corporations are in league with the major media corporations being high up in the pyramid of power structure as well - they are there to control the narrative away from us waking up. New Zealand’s Response to the incoming virus. But first, let’s quickly look at how NZ became infected by COVID. What we find is that when the Government realised that this was a fast spreading, global viral situation the wisest move was to close off our country. They stated that they were closing off NZ’s airports, especially Auckland. But, the airport remained totally porous and passengers were not only shocked that NZ Biosecurity were MIA (missing in action) - they were ‘job smacked’ as the ‘NZ Herald stated’ - of the abysmal and total lack of preparation and coordination of the border security systems. NZ just did not have any means of handling the thousands that were pouring back home through the airport and fanning out into Auckland and beyond. NZ Herald kept breaking the news! It was the alertness of the NZ Herald that called this out - time and time and time again and they ran articles showing up the total ineptness and incompetence of our Government's liaison with border security. It is just plain luck and good fortune that there were so few returning NZers who had the virus. To be frank - NZ dodged a bullet. New Government Laws Enacted So yes … where are we at present - as these are unprecedented times with unparalleled circumstances - and ‘our elected servants’ in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city, have finally enacted draconian legislation without due consultation with the electorate or the learned elders other than mirror the worlds global media which is essentially 6 bloated communication corporations in the USA , with a compromised BBC from the UK. Essentially all parroting from the same shrill song book. Which translates to - Keep the citizens on a very tight leash and if it means obtaining loans from overseas banks and adding more debt to the country and in particular for the younger generation to pay off - so be it. Note, that we never learn as to ‘who are the ones we get the loans from?’ Not one politician will ever stand up in Parliament and ‘want to follow the money’ - and ask the question. But who is giving us this money? Someone has to own this debt, there has to be ‘someone’ up through the levels of compartmentalised banks that reach on up into the pyramid of power, who actually owns this debt. Any guesses who it might be? What the awakening global public are fast realising is that the world corporations and banking institutions are all in bed together, and they have agreements to use MSM where it helps them concentrate power further up the pyramid of power. But, more of this later … at another time - but most ‘conscious’ people already have worked this all out. So in this radio show I have some musical breaks to give us some easing up of the frequencies. Within the sound tracks the lyric content is my subtle way of letting us know that there is a way through this situation - that surrounds us. The song that I played was 48 years old - an old flower power song from the Moody Blues “We are living in a world of make believe.” I will put the lyrics down below. Re Envisioning A NEW New Zealand What has come of NZ during this hiatus or ‘rahui’ - to use a maori term - (to take time out, rest and regenerate) - is that many New Zealanders are wondering how can we initiate new economic and ecological ways of making our country far more successful, in that we be more aligned with the ways of the land that supports us with healthy food and sustenance, plus working together more as a community at the grass roots or relocalising. That, in this program I mentioned some of the radio content that GreenplanetFM has covered over the years, that mainstream media in this country have essentially shied away from, or mentioned it once, just to get it out of the way. This subject matter for reasons you will start to realise - is connected to showing the shortfall of both big business systems and essentially the degrading of our environment. Regenerative ways of working with the Land. Most of you will know that a good portion of NZ arable land is under commercial management, so interviews were conducted with knowledgeable holistic authoritative people on how to benignly revitalise our agricultural sector which has the countries largest ecological footprint and also - value for money. This being to encourage the integration of new biological and regenerative farming methods, that are able to take the ‘chemical load’ out of the equation. Thus biological and regenerative farming is fast gaining momentum, not only here in NZ - but in South Africa and Australia but we can include the USA and Canada too. But, we still have a long way to break through critical mass. This transition is now imperative, as the end product if we have to use such a word - results in healthy animals, soil, and rivers and that products are more nutritious and have a longer shelf life and being more wholesome. One of the most enjoyable benefits is that the farmer and workers become more healthy and attuned to nature at the same time - because they are working and co-creating with natural processes. This conversion is also opening the door even more so to organics and biodynamics which means an even more discerning market and the proverbial win win situation. This is a revolutionary shift for farmers and regenerative and biological farming are going to be the savior of the dairy industry here in this country, and at the same time it will take care of the land, the soil and the microflora, especially bacteria and fungi as farmers discover the hidden drivers and the deeper secrets of the soil. It is educating them into a sacred relationship with the land that they are stewards of. This is really big as it brings into focus the ‘circular’ economy. Permaculture Time We have also covered many interviews on Permaculture - Which really has to be brought forward into the public consciousness. This is the Time of Permaculture. This ‘integral land management system’ out of Tasmania is based on the topography of the property, arc of the sun, wind direction and tree cover plus shelter belts, also water resources, gravity and trickle irrigation. Inclusive of the land, with ponds as well as swales to direct rainwater and terracing. This pioneering method is in many ways a ‘one stop shop’ - (for need of a far better description) based around the family home (accommodation) and barns and sheds to be in some ways the nucleus of a planned localised eco sphere of influence, with gardens and orchards and paddocks of animals and poultry in an integrated and multi layered way of farming, gardening and cropping. All this being a truly dynamic microcosm of the mineral, animal and vegetable Kingdom environmentally working in unison as one. The next level is tying in with marketing plans so that fresh produce can be accessed from the web and that distribution networks funnel this quality food to either villages, towns and cities or ready for export. Permaculture and horticulture could be a profound new way forward for NZ because it is essentially organic, so the food is from heirloom stock and is nourishingly, nutrient dense. Exploiting Fishing Numbers in NZ Waters. There are a number of interviews on the state of fish in NZ coastal waters and these have all been real eye openers. NZ’s Exclusive Economic Zone, is the fourth largest area of ocean under its jurisdiction on earth. A gigantic area that is also part of the ‘NZ Commons’. Which means it is basically owned or under the care of the whole of the NZ public. This is overseen by our elected ‘servants’ in Parliament. They are taking care of it on behalf of us. Are they doing a good job? Do you know if they care? Or are our politicians just deferring to a Department within Government? Well, what we learn is that this fishing industry is controlled by about a dozen families and we are finding that the quota management system is failing us on all levels. This ‘quota management system’ billed as one of the most comprehensive on earth’ - is awash with poor governance, lack of oversight and vast waste. Here we are with the commonwealth of the oceans bounty to draw from and we are abusing this privilege year after year, decade after decade. So I encourage you to listen to any of the interviews of Scott Macindoe from Legasea - a very articulate communicator who by default is voluntarily doing the Government's work for them. The Quality of Drinking Water. We have conducted interviews on the fluoridation of NZ’s water supply, and the Professor Emeritus’s that have been interviewed have clearly stated that fluoride definitely interferes with one’s brain and that it is a neurotoxin that reduces the IQ of children. China has conducted studies and found that there is a considerable drop in intelligence. But, because it is a Chinese study Western medicine ignores it at its peril. However, fluoridation appears to have already done its damage because our politicians in Parliament and local government have no understanding of what’s in the water they drink. So until enlightened governance comes - this subject is a lost cause and the best we can do is suggest that families buy in fresh pure, vital water in large containers and make sure that their children drink only quality non fluoridated water, and preferably not chlorinated water either. You can purchase filtration systems - however the costs can be substantial. These were excellent interviews, but no uptake, by the NZ authorities. As an aside, I once told the Radio Station Manager Terri Byrne that I didn’t want to be a ‘protest radio program’ - and she immediately countered by saying - well, you can always be an ‘activist radio program.’... sigh ... I wish to also cover a few more subjects of what we have previously aired - to enable you to extend your understanding of what we have been endeavouring to achieve in bringing these disparate but important subjects to public attention. Lisa Er did two very powerful interviews, one on Vaccines, with Bruce Lipton and that taken orally we get safer uptake, and this interview got the highest amounts of hits ever for GreenplanetFM because it is is a very contentious topic, especially as Bill Gates wants to vaccinate you for the Covid 19 virus and every subsequent virus that follows. The other by Lisa too, is on 1080. This is the aerial poison dropped from helicopters across huge areas of NZ bush - as a means to kill and eradicate possums. But, by doing this NZ is using something like 95% of the world’s total production of 1080, and the agonising deaths of other animals that happen to eat the ‘baits’ is incredibly horrendous, and excruciatingly cruel - it is a shock to one’s senses. There is also no independent research on the effects on the micro organisms in the soil as a result of this mass poisoning - when we know through Newton’s Third Law of Motion - ‘for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.’ That this is being totally ignored, to our peril, because these poisons enter into the many different water systems. Factoring Children into all Legislation that affects Their Future. We have been extracting from and poisoning from the living earth Gaia to such a degree by taking resources that this is having such a knock on effect that it’s our children and grandchildren who will be starkly affected. There is an urgent need to have within all NZ Government Legislation, a specific clause that calls for ‘Children and their collective future to be factored in all Laws that are passed.’ ‘This has to be Noted, prior to all Acts being passed into Law. Back to COVID This radio discourse goes on to discuss the current COVID situation and that the World Health Organisation has such a powerful role in dictating policy around our planet. That the World Health Organisation, is an off-shoot of the United Nations, yet the WHO has in turn has been virtually usurped by Bill Gates, a drop out from college who through his power and influence colludes with a Dr Tedros the Head of the WHO, to tell us that all 7.7 billion have to be inoculated against these viruses, by the WHO. It’s messy … believe me - but this is a global situation - we as a planetary civilization that is still endeavouring to find itself - have been mesmerized in a spell - a malaise (for want of a better word) - that settled over the world around the year 2,000, and was exacerbated by what happened in New York on 9/11 and since then - humanity and society as a whole - have been on the back foot. You will have to use the web to research what I written here. I invite you to consider https://duckduckgo.com/ for your web searches. There will be better web browsers, however please peruse what they offer freely and see how this can protect your privacy - because Google has all your search results for the last 20 years, plus. This from Breitbart, a conservative news website, which is not a website that I go to, states: Tedros Helped Beijing Hide the Severity of the Chinese Coronavirus Outbreak On January 14, months after health officials are believed to have detected the first case of the virus in China on November 17 of last year, the WHO was promoting a Chinese claim via Twitter that there was “no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission.” Meanwhile, the disease was spiraling out of control. The WHO tweet came a day before the first case to reach the United States reportedly flew from Wuhan to the state of Washington. Then we have a Nigerian viewpoint https://www.thenigerianvoice.com/news/287025/the-gangster-head-of-the-who.html - I encourage you to research this more. When we deep dive into Tedros’s back story, he has no degrees in medicine - just like Bill Gates the eugenicist yet they both want to control the destiny of the 7.7 billion human beings, who are alive today. Now a deeper dive into Bill Gates in India, where there is a growing backlash from Indian families that have children that have been adversely affected by vaccines that come under Bill Gates’s umbrella. https://www.uspoliticsandnews.com/why-didnt-bill-gates-vaccinate-his-own-children/ Given that the vaccination issue now impacts all families in America, directly or indirectly, you’d think it would have garnered more media attention when it was learned that vaccine champion and Microsoft founder Bill Gates refused to allow his own children to be vaccinated. This admission came from the Gates family’s personal physician in Seattle, who was speaking behind closed doors with other doctors at a symposium last year (someone at the conference leaked the conversation, so the doctor himself technically did not violate doctor-patient confidentiality rules). The doctor reportedly told his colleagues, “I don’t know if he (Gates) had them vaccinated as adults, but I can tell you he point blank refused to vaccinate them as children.” So please use your discretion and research further. Robert Kennedy Jnr on Bill Gate - gives us even more concerns. https://www.naturalblaze.com/2020/04/robert-f-kennedy-jr-responds-to-bill-gates-statements-on-a-mandatory-coronavirus-vaccine.html RFK Jr.’s full comment follows here: Vaccines, for Bill Gates, are a strategic philanthropy that feed his many vaccine-related businesses (including Microsoft’s ambition to control a global vac ID enterprise) and give him dictatorial control over global health policy—the spear tip of corporate neo-imperialism. Gates’ obsession with vaccines seems fueled by a messianic conviction that he is ordained to save the world with technology and a god-like willingness to experiment with the lives of lesser humans. Promising to eradicate Polio with $1.2 billion, Gates took control of India ‘s National Advisory Board (NAB) and mandated 50 polio vaccines (up from 5) to every child before age 5. Indian doctors blame the Gates campaign for a devastating vaccine-strain polio epidemic that paralyzed 496,000 children between 2000 and 2017. In 2017, the Indian Government dialed back Gates’ vaccine regimen and evicted Gates and his cronies from the NAB. Polio paralysis rates dropped precipitously. In 2017, the World Health Organization reluctantly admitted that the global polio explosion is predominantly vaccine strain, meaning it is coming from Gates’ Vaccine Program. The most frightening epidemics in Congo, the Philippines, and Afghanistan are all linked to Gates’ vaccines. By 2018, ¾ of global polio cases were from Gates’ vaccines. In 2014, the Gates Foundation funded tests of experimental HPV vaccines, developed by GSK and Merck, on 23,000 young girls in remote Indian provinces. Approximately 1,200 suffered severe side effects, including autoimmune and fertility disorders. Seven died. Indian government investigations charged that Gates funded researchers committed pervasive ethical violations: pressuring vulnerable village girls into the trial, bullying parents, forging consent forms, and refusing medical care to the injured girls. The case is now in the country’s Supreme Court. And here: https://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2019/05/vaccine-safety-program/589354/ US$4,000,000,000 has been paid out to people who have been affected by vaccines. Meanwhile MSM has remained silent on this. Yet the answer in the short term is: Hydroxychloroquine - Donald Trump has been taking it all the time and he never wears a face mask. China told Costa Rica what to do: https://qcostarica.com/hydroxychloroquine-the-drug-costa-rica-uses-successfully-to-fight-covid-19/ (China told Costa Rica 10 days before the NZ kiwi health advisers told our country to lock down.) China in bed with Costa Rica? China knew about hydroxychloroquine. “In Costa Rica we have been applying hydroxychloroquine since we had a meeting by teleconference with personnel in China who attended the emergency in the cities of Shanghai and Wuhan,” explained Ruiz. That videoconference, offered by the Chinese Embassy in Costa Rica, took place on the night of March 18. It included, among others, the director-general and the director of epidemiology of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (briefly as China CDC). https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexledsom/2020/05/10/hydroxychloroquinenumber-of-prescriptions-explode-in-france/#56428ce2180f Despite the warnings around taking hydroxychloroquine to combat the symptoms of COVID-19, prescriptions in France have increased by as much as 7,000% in certain parts of the country since the pandemic began. As reported by La Provence, a study looking at the 466 million French prescriptions written since the pandemic began in France, show a huge spike in doctors prescribing the drug. In the last week of March, for instance, over 10,000 people were prescribed hydroxychloroquine in Marseille alone. So it is Now all in the Open. We have been conned Donald Trump openly admits he takes hydroxychloroquine every day and you see him at outdoor press conferences maskless and all the others with masks on especially Dr Fauci whilst the whole world looks on. We do not know who to believe anymore! So in essence we are being influenced by forces and energies that are leading us to feel Lost in a Lost World. This second song 48 years old by the Moody Blues - clearly lets us know where we are and what we need to be aware and conscious of. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhNl6wIkVs8 Lost in a Lost World The Moody Blues I woke today, I was crying Lost in a lost world So many people are dying Lost in a lost world Some of them are living an illusion Bounded by the darkness of their minds In their eyes, it's nation against nation against nation With racial pride Sounds... Thinking only of themselves They shun the light (Shun the light) They think they're right (Think they're right) Living in their empty shells Oh, can you see their bodies thrashing? (So many people, so many people) Crashing down around their feet Angry people in the street Telling them they've had their fill Of politics, people who kill Grow... the seed of evolution (So many people, so many people) Revolution everyone It's just another form of gun To do again what they have done Let all our brothers come and get some (So many people, so many people) Everywhere you go you see them searching Everywhere you turn you feel the pain Everyone is looking for the answers Well, look again; come on, my friend Love will find us in the end Come on, my friend (On, my friend) We've got to bend (Got to bend) Down on our knees and say a prayer Oh, can you see the world is pining? (So many people, so many people) Pining for someone who really cares enough to share his love With all of us so we can be An ever-loving family Have we forgotten who loves who? (So many people, so many people) Children from a family tree That's longer than a centipede Started long ago when you and I Were only love... (So many people, so many people) I woke today, I was crying Lost in a lost world So many people are dying Lost in a lost world So many people, so many people People lost in a lost world So many people, so many people People lost in a lost world Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Mike Pinder Now for 5G GreenplanetFM has completed many interviews on the dangers of 5G. Meanwhile the NZ Government - lockstep with the Telecommunication Corporations continues the roll out - unabated. from https://www.nexusnewsfeed.com/article/health-healing/is-5g-a-deadly-trigger-for-the-coronavirus/ "5G Microwave Effects at 60GHz In 2001, Shigeaki Hakusui, then president of Harmonix Corporation, explained why fifth generation wireless technology was needed to reach the goal of creating smart cities. He said it would require bandwidth and efficiency to meet the data demand as the Internet moved toward mobile technology. That was two decades ago. Hakusui noted that 60GHz was the true radiofrequency that would allow for reliable transmission of data, due to its “98 percent oxygen absorption” rate. That allowed for the invisible signals to be sent from point A and B, and back again on the same path. Super-efficient and a technological milestone. “Since the presence of O2 is fairly consistent at ground level, its effect on 60GHz radio propagation is easily modeled for margin budgeting purposes. Also, the high level of attenuation from oxygen absorption makes even the worst weather-related attenuation insignificant, especially on the short paths where 60GHz systems operate,” Hakusui wrote. He stated unequivocally that 60GHz would deliver the last mile efficiently, as the “oxygen absorption makes possible the same-frequency reuse within a very localized region of air space.” "for every breath we breathe our blood transports oxygen throughout the core and extremities to the vital organs, heart and brain. If 5G at 60 GHz frequency zips through the air, absorbing most of the oxygen, disrupting the electrons that bind 02 molecules that, combined with a hydrogen atom, form water vapor what is that frequency doing to blood cells, which consist primarily of water and carry the oxygen? Does the disruption of the body’s biorhythm, breathing, and oxygen distribution begin to explain what happens to the people who dropped dead? The Mt. Everest ‘Death Zone’ Studies of acute mountain sickness show that as climbers ascend in altitude, they hit an endurance wall from a lack of oxygen. “At 4500 m [14,764 feet], the real amount of oxygen in the air composition is only 12% diluted, which is approximately 60% of sea-level oxygen,” according to Brazilian scientists, who published a paper last year. Higher up the mountain in the “death zone” of Mt. Everest, climbers die due to severe hyperbaric hypoxia, even with bottled oxygen, as their blood coagulates. In another view, altitude sickness starves the brain of oxygen. -Ends Ferratin. Iron in the red blood cells, from bone marrow. It all adds up. So yes, there is a major health problem when it comes to 5G deployment and the oxygen absorption in the human body. The final part of this program offers the question, how does a human being living on a planet, break out of fear and entrapment? In so many ways we need to return to the cradle of the spirit - this is our time. This last piece of today’s radio show was very short as I only had 55 minutes - so I do extend it here to just open up the story of our place in life. There is ample evidence that at a subatomic level we are all energy fields oscillating at a specific frequency - within a planetary energy field - that in turn vibrates within a universal energy field. And so in this solo show I took this time to remind us to journey in a more inner direction to look at other metaphysical and spiritual viewpoints Question? Is humanity lost in a lost world? Because we know that we are definitely struggling. Have people, especially in the Western world lost their moral compass? Well if we spend trillions on armaments and not on citizen diplomacy it appears that way. Is it because we are looking outside of ourselves? Virtually all sages, mystics, etc would say turn within. Mostly what we are seeing on TV, and video is chaos, fragmentation and dysfunction. Same for radio and newspapers. Our children are exposed to much of this? What images and sounds do we take to bed every night, if we are watching a continuous diet of horror, the macabre and death? How does our subconscious deal with this ‘programming?’ By looking without - we have forgotten to look within. What do I mean by this? Notice that fear has become so rampant - resulting in people being stressed, worried and unable to make sense of the world. Poor sleep? Poor health? Poor relationships? Poor work performance? Yet, those with a faith seem to be far more ‘at home’ due to their belief systems. Yet, how come the earth’s population has been gripped by fear? Why is this gnawing away inside of so many? Well within living memory, it’s been gradually coming to this point since - essentially the end of World War II. After the war, the four main ‘English’ speaking countries that were the victors were America, Canada, Australia and NZ. Britain sort of re-built - but the other 4 were basically unaffected and just kept growing and in many ways unconsciously kept exploiting the situation and landmass that they were living on. These 4 countries were not invaded or war zones - and so they ‘quickly got back into the saddle’ and after some years of rehabilitating themselves, became consumer driven countries that increasingly morphed into what we have today - neo liberal everything - having in the 60’s feminism in tandem with Flower Power emerging kind of in San Francisco, and a burst of creativity and a momentary (but continuing) spiritual renaissance that carried into the 70’s and the emergence of ‘the Force’ in Star Wars in the late 70’s ‘we sort of’ carried on through with sex, drugs and rock and roll - to electronic sounds - through punk - to today thoroughly ‘dumbed down’ the male of the species in particular not present, but preoccupied - we are now awash in ambiguity and transgender everything and the kids distracted with gadgetary and the only thing they cling to is their mobile hand held that links them into the omnipresent ubiquitous AI - the global surveilence system watching our every move as a huge slice of society drink processed water, scoff factory and industrial food and get our fix from both risqué, videos and big pharma and piped in infotainmen, that purport to be the News. Welcome to dystopia, where 1984 and Brave New World fuse together to purplex consensus reality. And amidst this increasing swirl - hope for the best. In this whirlpool of consumers consuming themselves - we have danced away from the tradition of couples, waltzing and holding each other and whispering into each others ears - where we rocked and rolled with each other into the limbo then the twist of separation in the early 1960’s where the sexual revolution hotted up and we increasingly viewed the glamour of physiques, shouting over noise, looking out for the next ‘piece’ of excitement where we now have at the basic level of day to day life nearly - zero clue as to what’s our spiritual inheritance and the metaphysical substance behind all form. And yes, there is Christianity, but also empty churches yet some revival at the fringes. (These Christian groups are keenly interested in the current situation that surrounds us and looking at prophecy and what are the linkages to what is happening in the USA?) Especially the draining of the Swamp and the Qanon phenomenon). But, with more and more choices and options the message of a deeper connection to a greater purpose for humanity and our reason for being is being lost in the smoke and mirrors that the media throw at us continuously. “The purpose for existence is to find out the purpose for existence” - but this idea has been virtually eliminated from the human discourse. We have been reduced to walking automatons - “garbage in and garbage out” - because we have all chosen ‘the blue pill.” Atheism takes over via Education With science pronouncing that God’s only a dead backdrop for our own drama - we find that a creator has been lobotomised out of the academic and intellectual mind, with the Hubble telescope finding no trace of heaven and doctors with high powered electron microscopes, failing to find our soul - the emptiness of being a 3 dimensional object hungering of the 5 senses is such that escalating suicides are the statistic that seems to allude to a country wide denial that this is sort of … acceptable - solely because of the pace of life that it is inevitable anyway - that there will always be plenty of wreckage in the fast lane as we entered 2020 and NOW it’s time to refocus. But wait, there is more! What about the Good News? There is a way through this ... Once upon a time most human beings believed that there was a greater being, a Source, or Creator or a God of some sort. Indigenus societies have many myths and legends that cater for the birth of existence. These fables tell of a birth or a creation of some kind. Be it from Babylon, Egypt, Greece, or India or the Americas and Australia - Aotearoan-Maori, there was a spiritual force that manifested existence into being. That, there was a God force or ‘something akin’ that has eventuated with we humans, walking and living here on this earth in 3 dimensional form, yet each of us having an ‘essence’ or a spiritual connection to something greater. The ancient ruins of civilization testify to the greatness of these epochs, especially the starkness of the Great Pyramid paradox on the Giza Plateau in Egypt. - right up until these current crazed and frenetic times, where separation from nature and the biosphere that supports us. Yet, many of us intuitively know - this is why we have to surrender … but to what? Cut to today, where I live in Aotearoa NZ, we are in such a hurry that we have turned our back on how this country was basically colonised (invaded), most recently by Northern hemispherians namely the British who supplanted their civilization/culture over the ‘so called indignous’ culture of the Maori, who had been in this land mass since around the 1400’s and that they can recall via their singing of their geneology (whakapapa) that goes back to the seven main canoes (waka) that brought them across the Pacifc to these shores. Today Maori still have a connection to the earth and recognise Papatuanku as their sustainer. Though our consumer society deadens this connection. Now today if you talk to an established NZ elder or someone within the Government bureaucratic establishment - NZ is still recognised as ‘basically’ being a Christian country following the 2,000 year tradition that emerged out of Palestine/ Israel. That the new colonial NZ belief systems and Laws were essentially based around Judeo Christinaity and English Law, the Magna Carta - and that our Parliament before opening would always start with a Prayer for all elected Representatives to be honest and commit to do one’s best for the highest good of all people. The premise of the prayers, would ask for God’s oversight and blessing and finish in invoking the name of Jesus Christ - because as previously mentioned NZ was from colonial times - proclaimed a Christian country. (The word of Jesus Christ in very recent years has now been deleted from this prayer, due to the secularization of New Zealand’s present day culture. Plus, there has been a large increase in migrants coming into the country. These new arrivals have other faiths and neo liberal ways have endeavoured to cover for a wider spread of people, by not focusing on the use of the word Jesus Christ, when opening Parliament. https://www.quora.com/Is-New-Zealand-a-Christian-country?share=1 Meanwhile as surveys attest, it also means that NZers are increasingly turning away from a/their spiritual connection to a higher being or God. Herein lies the challenge/conundrum of why so many people are now either, too stressed, turning to alcohol and drugs, or lost in indulgences such as gambling, sex and other taboos among many other survival challenges. That we have lost our connection to the source of where we spring. So many people do not believe in anything now other than the material world of things and the physical form, such as financial success, being a billionaire, having celebrity and fame and other sorts of surface activities. Many would say we are lost in a lost world. Here is the challenge. A belief system premised on an unseen but present spiritual world intersecting and coexisting or overlighting this physical world,is said to not exist, especially to a growing percentage of people who would call themselves atheists. Having rejected any creation myth - which tells of God or a Creator who made the universe and is everywhere omnipresent - what we now have is a gigantic void, that the ‘big bang’ just seemed to happen. We are all here by fluke or chance, that a tree is basically a machine, same for a frog, butterfly and a whale. That we live in an inanimate world but when a present day scientist, like Dr Rupert Sheldrake steps up and asks questions about ‘Dogs who know when their owners are coming home’, or about phantom limbs after a loss of an arm or leg, or acknowledging the feeling of being stared at from a distance - other questions have to be factored in to make sense of a culture that has distanced itself from the subtle realms of energy and the unseen. . However there is another way of seeing our connection to something that is greater. An old saying - “that we are spiritual beings having an earth experience.”Is becoming relevant to more people. Well for many people this opens up the game plan hugely, because other people from other faiths can easily comprehend this - even at a basic level. Being grateful and thankful … seems to be a precursor to recognizing that we are all connected as cells in a greater organism as in our planet being a colossal super organism - that has in turn - loaned us a body in which to live. Our Living Planet is being belatedly seen as a gigantic super organism. The ancient Greeks called her Gaia. See Jame Lovelock Our planet lends us a body, free air, free rainwater, and until recently a free food chain. What do we do in reciprocity? Another way is to remind our children that we have an ‘Inner candle’ and that we all know that candles need oxygen. It is our planet and environment that gives us oxygen. Here lies the connection where we can start to revere nature once again. In ending this I wish to talk about the soul. The Greek word for soul is psyche But again we have lost our connection. A psychiatrist is a soul doctor - but you will not hear them say that. This is why we are in many ways - Lost in a lost world. We have lost our way. Out of the Body or Near Death Experiences Any study of ‘out of the body’ or ‘near death’ experiences will give you ample evidence that we are not our body. Our physical body which does act like a machine also has an ‘occupant’ a consciousness - and there are 10s of thousands of studies where ordinary people have had ‘out of the body or near death experiences’ and came back. These endless stories of people who have been in accidents and found themselves floating or hovering above their body whilst, hearing every sound ,be it of nature, of traffic or of doctors frantically working to keep their heart beating are throughout libraries globally. Yet, with the 26,000 universities around our planet there is very little to no interest in following up on the matter of why do so many people have these experiences? Where the learned academics and intellectuals have zero interest in this phenomenon and go out of their way to decry everything in relationship to such experiences. Arguing against the evidence that can be proved by what was recited after returning to their body or hospital bed. As a side note, I found myself on stage in front of a full house of 1600 people in the Auckland town hall in 1986, giving a bouquet and thanking Elisabeth Kubler-Ross the Swiss Psychiatrist. Who had spent a good part of her life interviewing up to 20,000 people who had encountered OBE and NDE experiences - confirming that we most definitely live beyond our body. It is only when we stop believing the unconscious ones who think they know it all, because they have a degree etc yet, have not studied such experiences seriously - we will then finally awaken to the fact that we are spiritual beings having an earth experience. I end with a song that is over 50 years old by the Moody Blues … ‘Have you heard’ Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eYa1upM4pA PS, what will most probably be the most lasting in this broadcast are the 3 songs. Their lyrics and the imagery they let out will easily last for years to come - and by then I trust the human race will have made it gracefully into the new paradigm. Wishing you well and yes, we all will eventually be Red Pilled. Sincerely, Tim:) Ps - sorry for the meandering in this missive - there are so many possibilities, yet there has to be some kind of cosmic trigger to shift everyone to burst out of their present configuration. We are all presently in the birth canal to a new paradigm, and what could have been a more rapid process now seems to be a longer drawn out labour. All births are messy and there is always a lot of pain too. In the meantime we have to become self-reliant and resilient and trust that the good will come through, yet also plan for a hard landing.
One of the most prolific writers in the Jewish world of recent times, Rav Menachem Mendel Kasher (1895-1983), was quite an enigmatic character as well. As a prominent Gerrer Chussid in Warsaw, he was active in the Agudas Yisroel, and had a position in the famous Mesivta of Warsaw. With his move to Eretz Yisroel in the 1920's, he founded and headed the first Gerrer Yeshiva there in Yerushalayim. His primary focus soon turned towards his voluminous writings, which he devoted his life to writing and publishing. A man of strong opinions, he seemed to get mired in controversy wherever he turned. From the eruv in Manhattan to the International Dateline, to his embracing of Messianic Zionism, creativity and a sense of pioneering marked much of his writing and endeavors. There are times when a Halachic, legalistic discussion is played out on the stage of history. Such was the dispute in regards to the positioning of the Halachic International Dateline. What conceivably was a theoretical discussion, or at most relevant to the few Jewish travelers to the Far East, became a reality for thousands of refugees who were stranded in Kobe, Japan in 1941. The question of when to observe Shabbos divided the refugee community, with kiddush and havdala being recited simultaneously by different individuals. With Yom Kippur around the corner, a larger question loomed. Two days of shabbos was manageable, but fasting for two days straight was not an exciting prospect. It was a question that was heard around the world. And the answers came in from all sides. The dateline controversy would leave an indelible mark on the memory that refugees had from their sojourn in Kobe, Japan. Welcome back for another amazing episode from the Nerds, it is full of fun stuff, amazing science, and some crazy stuff. We hope as always that you enjoy it and perhaps by accident or intentionally learn something cool. I remember when I found out about chemistry, It was a long, long way from here, I was old enough to want it but younger than I wanted to be, Suddenly my mission was clear… All about chemistry. OK, I know that is the song Chemistry by Semisonic, but it relates to our first topic from Buck, which is all about chemistry and producing oxygen on Mars, Comets, and interplanetary space travel. That’s right we are one step closer to science fiction becoming reality once more. Honestly, where would the world be without science, science fiction, or Nerds to think up the impossible dreams? Although we must apologise for the zombie apocalypse resulting from the advancements in technology; otherwise known as reality television, social media, or just uncontrollable gaming. But, all that aside scientist have found a way to change carbon-dioxide (CO2) into beautiful oxygen (O2). That’s right, you heard us correctly, and it doesn’t involve a chemical scrubber like those currently used on submarines. No, this alters the very nature of the chemical bonds on a molecular level in a whole new way. By the power of Greyskull, someone has the power. That’s right folks, He-Man is coming back to our screens in the near future it seems. DJ has brought us news that a new extension to the story of He-Man is in the works, he says it is an anime, but we aren’t sold. But it is exciting that it appears to not be a rebirth or re-imagining. But then again that is those weirdos over at Disney doing all the remakes, except for the unfortunate incident with She-Ra. Whoever is responsible for that fiasco is a greater villain than Skeletor and Hordak combined. Seriously, it was traumatic to see what had happened there. With the contentiousness of is it going to be able to claim the title of an anime aside, He-Man is looking promising. Next we have the Professor bringing us news about the censorship of a few games in Australia and the impact that is having on the world. Now we normally don’t agree with a lot of the issues in censorship, or Material Ratings as they are referred to, but this time there is some merit. This topic is one in which the Nerds have a heated debate, and Buck really gets fired up, DJ gets angry and the Professor needs a whip and chair to keep them apart. So if you feel strongly about the topic of censorship this might be a poignant topic for you. We apologise if we offend anyone during this section (I know we don’t normally, but hey). Let us know what you think on the matter, is Buck an old fart that needs to be exhibited in a museum, is the DJ taking the matter too light, is it somewhere in between (like the Professor). As always we have the games played this week, which is looking interesting. Also the weekly shout outs, remembrances, birthdays, and events of interest. As always stay safe, look out for each other and stay hydrated.EPISODE NOTES:Comet chemistry - https://www.caltech.edu/about/news/comet-inspires-chemistry-making-breathable-oxygen-marsHe-Man Anime - https://comicbook.com/anime/2019/08/19/he-man-anime-synopsis-kevin-smith-netflix/DayZ Banned in Australia - https://www.kotaku.com.au/2019/08/dayz-pc-ps4-xbox-one-banned-completely-australia/Games currently playingBuck– Dungeons and Dragons - https://dnd.wizards.com/Professor- https://store.steampowered.com/app/861540/Dicey_Dungeons/DJ – Mortal Kombat 11- https://www.mortalkombat.com/Other topics discussedChemistry – SemisonicPublished on Oct 7, 2009Music video by Semisonic performing Chemistry. More than 200 people were accused, 19 of whom were found guilty and executed byhanging (14 women and 5 men). One other man, Giles Corey, was crushed to death for refusing to plead, and at least five people died in jail. It was the deadliest witch hunt in the history of colonial North America. Despite being generally known as the Salem witch trials, the preliminary hearings in 1692 were conducted in several towns: Salem Village (now Danvers), Salem Town, Ipswich, and Andover. The most infamous trials were conducted by the Court of Oyer and Terminer in 1692 in Salem Town. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salem_witch_trials19 Aug 1953 – Cold War: The CIA and MI6 help to overthrow the government of Mohammad Mosaddegh in Iran and reinstate the Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi the last Shah of Iran. While the coup is at times referred to in the West as Operation Ajax after its CIA cryptonym, in Iran it is referred to as the 28 Mordad 1332 Coup d'état, after its date on the Iranian calendar. Mosaddegh was imprisoned for three years, then put under house arrest until his death and was buried in his own home so as to prevent a political furore. In 2013, the U.S. government formally acknowledged the U.S. role in the coup, as a part of its foreign policy initiatives. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Iranian_coup_d%27%C3%A9tat19 Aug 1967 - Beatles' "All You Need is Love" single goes #1. In a statement to Melody Maker magazine, Brian Epstein, the band's manager, said of "All You Need Is Love": "It was an inspired song and they really wanted to give the world a message. The nice thing about it is that it cannot be misinterpreted. It is a clear message saying that love is everything." Lennon later attributed the song's simple lyrical statements to his liking of slogans and television advertising. He likened the song to a propaganda piece, adding: "I'm a revolutionary artist. My art is dedicated to change." - https://www.stereogum.com/2018942/the-number-ones-the-beatles-all-you-need-is-love/franchises/the-number-ones/19 Aug 2013 – The Dhamara Ghat train accident kills at least 37 people in the Indian state of Bihar. At least 37 people were killed and 24 were injured. The accident triggered a protest by passengers who beat the driver unconscious, attacked staff and torched two coaches of the train. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhamara_Ghat_train_accidentRemembrances12 Aug 2019 - Danny Cohen, a distinguished computer scientist who helped develop the first digital visual flight simulator for pilot training, early digital voice conferencing and cloud computing. Cohen was a graduate student at Harvard University in the late 1960s when he helped develop the first computerized flight simulation system on a general-use computer. The design re-created aircraft flight and the landscape it travelled above. He was involved in the ARPAnet project and helped develop various fundamental applications for the Internet. Cohen is probably best known for his 1980 paper "On Holy Wars and a Plea for Peace" which adopted the terminology of endianness for computing (a term borrowed from Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels). He died from Parkinson's disease at the age of 81 in Palo Alto, California. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Cohen_(computer_scientist)19 Aug 1662 - Blaise Pascal, French mathematician, physicist, inventor, writer and Catholic theologian. He was a child prodigy who was educated by his father, a tax collector in Rouen. Pascal's earliest work was in the natural and applied sciences where he made important contributions to the study of fluids, and clarified the concepts of pressure and vacuum by generalising the work of Evangelista Torricelli. Pascal also wrote in defence of the scientific method. Pascal was an important mathematician, helping create two major new areas of research: he wrote a significant treatise on the subject of projective geometry at the age of 16, and later corresponded with Pierre de Fermat on probability theory, strongly influencing the development of modern economics and social science. Following Galileo Galilei and Torricelli, in 1647, he rebutted Aristotle's followers who insisted that nature abhors a vacuum. Pascal's results caused many disputes before being accepted. He died from stomach cancer at the age of 39 in Paris. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaise_Pascal19 Aug 1822 - Jean Baptiste Joseph Delambre, French mathematician and astronomer. He was also director of the Paris Observatory, and author of well-known books on the history of astronomy like the Histoire de l'astronomie from ancient times to the 18th century. Delambre was one of the first astronomers to derive astronomical equations from analytical formulas, was the author of Delambre's Analogies. He was a knight (chevalier) of the Order of Saint Michael and of the Légion d'honneur. His name is also one of the 72 names inscribed on the Eiffel tower. The crater Delambre on the Moon is named after him. He died at the age of 72 in Paris. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Baptiste_Joseph_Delambre19 Aug 1977 - Groucho Marx, American comedian, writer, stage, film, radio, and television star. A master of quick wit, he is widely considered one of America's greatest comedians. He made 13 feature films with his siblings the Marx Brothers, of whom he was the third-born. He also had a successful solo career, most notably as the host of the radio and television game show You Bet Your Life. His distinctive appearance, carried over from his days in vaudeville, included quirks such as an exaggerated stooped posture, spectacles, cigar, and a thick greasepaint moustache and eyebrows. These exaggerated features resulted in the creation of one of the most recognizable and ubiquitous novelty disguises, known as Groucho glasses: a one-piece mask consisting of horn-rimmed glasses, a large plastic nose, bushy eyebrows and moustache. He died from pneumonia at the age of 86 at the age of 86 in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles,California. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groucho_Marx19 Aug 1994 - Linus Pauling, American chemist, biochemist, peace activist, author, educator, and husband of American human rights activist Ava Helen Pauling. He published more than 1,200 papers and books, of which about 850 dealt with scientific topics. New Scientist called him one of the 20 greatest scientists of all time, and as of 2000, he was rated the 16th most important scientist in history. Pauling was one of the founders of the fields of quantum chemistry and molecular biology. Pauling also worked on the structures of biological molecules, and showed the importance of the alpha helix and beta sheet in protein secondary structure. His discoveries inspired the work of James Watson,Francis Crick, and Rosalind Franklin on the structure of DNA, which in turn made it possible for geneticists to crack the DNA code of all organisms. In his later years he promoted nuclear disarmament, as well as orthomolecular medicine, megavitamin therapy, and dietary supplements. For his scientific work, Pauling was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1954. For his peace activism, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1962. He is one of four individuals to have won more than one Nobel Prize (the others being Marie Curie,John Bardeen and Frederick Sanger). He died from prostate cancer at the age of 93 in Big Sur, California - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linus_PaulingFamous birthdays19 Aug 1871 – Orville Wright, one half of the Wright Brothers who were two American aviation pioneers generally credited with inventing, building, and flying the world's first successful airplane. They made the first controlled, sustained flight of a powered, heavier-than-air aircraft with the Wright Flyer on December 17, 1903, four miles south of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. In 1904–05, the brothers developed their flying machine into the first practical fixed-wing aircraft, the Wright Flyer III. Although not the first to build experimental aircraft, the Wright brothers were the first to invent aircraft controls that made fixed-wing powered flight possible. The brothers' breakthrough was their creation of a three-axis control system, which enabled the pilot to steer the aircraft effectively and to maintain its equilibrium. This method remains standard on fixed-wing aircraft of all kinds. He was born in Dayton, Ohio - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wright_brothers19 Aug 1921 – Gene Roddenberry, American television screenwriter, producer and creator of the original Star Trek television series, and its first spin-off The Next Generation. Roddenberry flew 89 combat missions in the Army Air Forces during World War II, and worked as a commercial pilot after the war. Later, he followed in his father's footsteps and joined the Los Angeles Police Department, where he also began to write scripts for television. As a freelance writer, Roddenberry wrote scripts for Highway Patrol, Have Gun–Will Travel, and other series, before creating and producing his own television series The Lieutenant. In 1964, Roddenberry created Star Trek, which premiered in 1966 and ran for three seasons before being cancelled. He then worked on other projects, including a string of failed television pilots. The syndication of Star Trek led to its growing popularity; this, in turn, resulted in the Star Trek feature films, on which Roddenberry continued to produce and consult. In 1985, he became the first TV writer with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he was later inducted by both the Science Fiction Hall of Fame and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame. Years after his death, Roddenberry was one of the first humans to have his ashes carried into earth orbit. The popularity of the Star Trek universe and films has inspired films, books, comic books, video games, and fan films set in the Star Trek universe. He was born in El Paso, Texas. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gene_Roddenberry19 Aug 1944 – Charles Wang, American businessman and philanthropist who was a co-founder and CEO of Computer Associates International, Inc. (later renamed to CA Technologies). Wang grew Computer Associates into one of the country's largest software vendors. Wang authored two books to help executives master technology: Techno Vision and Techno Vision II. He was a minority owner (and past majority owner) of the NHL's New York Islanders ice hockey team and their AHL affiliate, an investor in numerous businesses, and benefactor to charities including Smile Train, the World Childhood Foundation, the Islanders Children's Foundation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, among others. He was born in Shanghai. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Wang19 Aug 1967 - Satya Nadella, engineer and Indian American business executive. He currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Microsoft, succeeding Steve Ballmer in 2014. He led a giant round of layoffs and flattened the organization (getting rid of middle managers). Before becoming chief executive, he was the Executive Vice President of Microsoft's Cloud and Enterprise Group, responsible for building and running the company's computing platforms. His tenure has emphasized openness to working with companies and technologies with which Microsoft also competes, including Apple Inc.,IBM and Dropbox. Under Nadella Microsoft revised its mission statement to "empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more". In comparison to founder Bill Gates's "a PC on every desk and in every home, running Microsoft software", Nadella says that it is an enduring mission, rather than a temporal goal. His key goal has been transforming Microsoft’s corporate culture into one that values continual learning and growth. Nadella's leadership of Microsoft included a series of high-profile acquisitions of other companies, to redirect Microsoft's focus. His first major acquisition was of Mojang, a Swedish game company best known for the popular freeform computer building game Minecraft, in late 2014, for $2.5 billion. He followed that by purchasing Xamarin and LinkedIn in 2016, then GitHub in 2018. He was born Hyderabad, Telangana. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satya_NadellaEvents of interest19 Aug 1887 - Dmitri Mendeleev makes a solo ascent by balloon to an altitude of 11,500 feet (3.5 km) above Klin, Russia to observe an eclipse. - https://www.wired.com/2009/08/dayintech-0819/19 Aug 1940 – First flight of the B-25 Mitchell medium bomber. Named in honor of Major General William "Billy" Mitchell, a pioneer of U.S. military aviation. Used by many Allied air forces, the B-25 served in every theatre of World War II, and after the war ended, many remained in service, operating across four decades. Produced in numerous variants, nearly 10,000 B-25s were built. These included a few limited models such as the F-10 reconnaissance aircraft, the AT-24 crew trainers, and the United States Marine Corps' PBJ-1 patrol bomber. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_American_B-25_Mitchell19 Aug 1964 – Syncom 3, the first geostationary communication satellite, was launched. Tread Perilously's month of series finales continues with the final 21 minutes of Alf; an episode they had to call "Consider Me Gone." When Alf gets a message from Rhonda and Skip, he prepares to leave the Tanners and join his friends as they head for New Melmac. Meanwhile, the United States Air Force has intercepted the message and begins to hunt for the alien living among humans. Back at the Tanner home, the family throws the world's saddest goodbye part for Alf. But soon it is time to make for Will Rogers State Park, where Alf will have a date with destiny. Will he escape the Earth or end up a lab experiment? Erik begins to devise a better Alf impression while Justin searches for a way to sound like Max Wright. They also imagine Alf turned down the chance to be the Herald of Galactus when the planet-eater came for Melmac. The discussion quickly veers on to Cobra Kai and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. The "International Date Line" joke gets dissected. Justin turns Alf's dream for New Melmac into a punishing plantation nightmare. Erik tries to explain the Alf Extended Television Universe and the pair reveal what it will take for them to finally watch Small Wonder.
Rome is a city that is believed to have had some kind of human existence within it for at least 10,000 years. This city would rise from a place of little stature to one of the greatest empires ever to exist. Amazing structures would be built under that empire. The Colosseum in Rome, Italy was an architectural marvel, but also a place of immense human and animal suffering. People would come from all over to witness amazing feats by human gladiators and to witness the tearing apart of other humans at the hands of wild animals. This was considered sport at that time and the remnants of this activity and the residue left behind has imprinted spiritually on The Colosseum. Tales of hauntings are rampant and this structure is said to be one of the most haunted locations in all of Italy. Oh, you haven't heard of International Date Line? It's only the hot new romantic television property created by Rachel and Griffin, two of Hollywood's most in-demand pitchmasters. Join them as they develop this show in this special episode of Rose Buddies!
On this episode, I speak across the International Date Line with Nicola Stevens, my first guest that lives internationally. We talk about evangelicalism in Australia, creationism, and so much more. Follow Nicola on Twitter @mytwocompanions.
We cross the International Date Line this week to visit Pasture in Auckland, New Zealand. At this 20-seat jewel-box restaurant husband-and-wife team, Chef Ed and Laura Verner, serve up an inspired Kiwi menu emphasizing native ingredients, fermentations, preservations and natural wines. Later in the show, singer-guitarist, Jordan Robin, and multi-instrumentalist, Byron Kalet, of Brooklyn band, Lover, stop by our studio for a live performance. Known for their melodic, minimalist sound, Lover will give us a listen to songs from their first full-length album, "Am I Safe?," which dropped this past week.
Composer, conductor and recovering trumpet player Brian Balmages sits down with Andrew and Lance despite his better judgment. Bran started on the piano, goes on to explain how he writes and orchestrates his pieces and talks about the disconnect which sometimes occurs between what he thinks will be popular and what ends up being so. He talks about why he likes working with groups and we learned that he has no ability to make International Date Line jokes. And now here comes the 131st edition of Filibuster to please your ears on this fine Wednesday. Adam, Jason, and Ben look back at the week that was, and start off by talking about how slow D.C. United looked against the Philadelphia Union and asking whether or not they should just burn the tape of the game and move on. We also talk about the right side of D.C. United's attack, Chris Rolfe and Miguel Aguilar, and Ben Olsen's substitutions in each game. We end the look-back by talking about filling out the various positions with the further injuries the team has, with a special focus on Davy Arnaud. We then talk about the upcoming game against Matt Reis' New England Revolution. We are happy for Charlie Davies even though he isn't here anymore, we talk about the Revs pressing and attack, and we break down how you can get three points against them. Finally, we crack open the Twitterbox and answer your questions! We mention our meetup that is happening in a week and a half, talk about Luis Silva's injury, and discuss which starters could be pushed to the bench when everyone is healthy. Give it a listen!
Hello and welcome to Holiday a Day, your daily dose of Holidays, festivals, celebrations and remembrances from around the world. I am your host Jeffrey Johnson On July 12th 2014 we celebrate Independence Day for Independent and Sovereign Republic of Kiribati In 1979 Kiribati gained it's independence from Great Britain. An island nation in the south pacific straddling the equator it is also the furthest east of all the countries as it is next to the International Date line. Actually prior to 1995 it straddled the IDL so that government offices could only work with other offices 4 days a week since it was the weekend in the eastern most part when the western part was Friday. Happy Independence Day Kiribati! We also celebrate Independence Day for the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe In 1975 this small island nation in the Gulf of Guinea, near the equator, received it's independence from Portugal. It was one of the first African nations to embrace democratic reform in the 1990s. Originally uninhabited till their discovery by Portuguese sailors, the islands first became an area to grow sugar and then as a stopping point for the international slave trade. It is now a self ruling nation with the descendants of those who were forced there against their will to work for the landowners now taking ownership of their country. Happy Independence Day São Tomé and Príncipe Fun side note, as São Tomé and Príncipe is in the Gulf of Guinea, which has the Prime Meridian going through it, and it near the equator and Kiribati straddling the equator and at one point the International Date Line, these two countries are almost exactly opposite each other on the globe. That is all I have for today but if I have missed anything or if you think I might miss a future holiday let me know at holidayaday@gmail.com or on twitter @holidayaday. And remember to have a great day because there is a holiday out there somewhere.
Stewardess Violet Jessop was both cursed and blessed -- during the 1910s she met disaster on all three of the White Star Line's Olympic class of gigantic ocean liners, but she managed to escape each time. In this episode of the Futility Closet podcast we'll accompany Violet on her three ill-fated voyages, including the famous sinkings of the Titanic and the Britannic, and learn the importance of toothbrushes in ocean disasters. We'll also play with the International Date Line and puzzle over the identity of Salvador Dalí's brother. Show notes: University of Chicago economist Steven Levitt discusses his coin-flipping experiment about halfway through this BBC podcast. The associated website is here. We first wrote about Violet Jessop on March 11, 2009. Maritime historian John Maxtone-Graham interviewed her in 1970 for The Only Way to Cross, his 1978 book about the era of ocean liners. When Violet died in 1971 she left a manuscript to her daughters, which, edited by Maxtone-Graham, came to light in 1997 as Titanic Survivor: The Newly Discovered Memoirs of Violet Jessop, Who Survived Both the Titanic and Britannic Disasters. A poetic note from Maxtone-Graham in that book: "One particular service commemorates the 1500 lost on the Titanic: Every 14th of April, a United States Coast Guard cutter comes to pay the homage of the Ice Patrol, which owes its inception to the disaster. With engines stilled and church pennant at the masthead, officers and men line the deck in full dress, while the commander reads the burial service. Three volleys of rifle fire can be heard, then the cutter passes on, leaving a lone wreath on the waves above the broken hull." Lewis Carroll underscored the need for an international date line with this conundrum, which he presented among the mathematical puzzle stories he wrote for the Monthly Packet in the 1880s: The day changes only at midnight. Suppose it's midnight in Chelsea; Wednesday has concluded and Thursday is about to begin. It's still Wednesday in Ireland and America, and it's already Thursday in Germany and Russia. That's fine. But continue in both directions. If it's Wednesday in America, is it Wednesday in Hawaii? If it's Thursday in Russia, is it Thursday in Japan? Mustn't the two days 'meet' on the farther side of the globe? "It isn’t midnight anywhere else; so it can't be changing from one day to another anywhere else. And yet, if Ireland and America and so on call it Wednesday, and Germany and Russia and so on call it Thursday, there must be some place, not Chelsea, that has different days on the two sides of it. And the worst of it is, the people there get their days in the wrong order: they’ve got Wednesday east of them, and Thursday west -- just as if their day had changed from Thursday to Wednesday!" Carroll normally presented the solution to each problem in the following month’s number. In this case he postponed the solution, "partly because I am myself so entirely puzzled by it," and then discontinued the column without resolving the problem. Further curiosities regarding the International Date Line: Why couldn't one orbit the world and advance the calendar indefinitely? Edgar Allan Poe, "Three Sundays in a Week" A time-traveling swimmer Softball at the North Pole Paul Sloane and Des MacHale have written a whole series of books of lateral thinking puzzles. This week's puzzle on Salvador Dalí's brother comes from their Ingenious Lateral Thinking Puzzles (1998). Many thanks to Doug Ross for the music in this episode. Captain Charles (Charlie) Moore is author of Plastic Ocean: How a Sea Captain's Chance Discovery Launched a Determined Quest to Save the Oceans, Founder of the Algalita Marine Reseach Foundation and Captain of the Oceanographic Research Vessel Alguita. On his return voyage, Captain Moore veered from the usual sea route and saw an ocean he had never known. "Every time I came on deck to survey the horizon, I saw a soap bottle, bottle cap or a shard of plastic waste bobbing by. Here I was in the middle of the ocean and there was nowhere I could go to avoid the plastic." Captain Moore has dedicated his time and resources to understanding and remediating the ocean's plastic load. Along with collaborators from the Southern California Coastal Water Research Project he developed protocols for monitoring marine and beach micro-plastics which are used worldwide. Captain Moore has conducted ocean and coastal sampling for plastic fragments through more than 40,000 miles of the North Pacific Ocean, across 22 degrees of latitude and 70 degrees of longitude. His latest 10,000 mile voyage took him and his crew two-thirds of the way to Japan across the International Dateline. Captain Moore's work has been highlighted in major media outlets, including ABC's Nightline, Good Morning America, National Public Radio, and The Wall Street Journal. His work has been published in multiple scientific journals and magazines. His book, Plastic Ocean, was published in October 2011. For more information visit: www.algalita.org

Apparent solar time is the time based directly on the Sun's position in the sky. In ordinary life the day runs from midnight to midnight. It begins when the Sun is invisible by being 12 hours from its zenith. Astronomers use the so-called Julian Day, which runs from noon to noon; the concept was invented by the astronomer Joseph Scaliger, who named it after his father, Julius. To avoid the problems caused by leap-year days and so forth, Scaliger picked a conveniently remote date in the past (4713 B.C.) and suggested just counting days without regard to weeks, months, and years. The reason for having the Julian Day run from noon to noon is the practical one that astronomical observations usually extend across the midnight hour, which would require a change in date if the astronomical day, like the civil day, ran from midnight to midnight. Mean solar time, rather than apparent solar time, is the basis for local civil and standard time. The mean solar time is based on the position of a fictitious “mean sun.” The reason why this fictitious sun has to be introduced is the following: Earth turns on its axis regularly; it needs the same number of seconds regardless of the season. But the movement of Earth around the Sun is not regular because Earth's orbit is an ellipse. This has the result that Earth moves faster in January and slower in July. Though it is Earth that changes velocity, it looks to us as if the Sun does. In January, when Earth moves faster, the apparent movement of the Sun looks faster. The mean sun of time measurements, then, is a sun that moves regularly all year round; the real Sun will be either ahead of or behind the mean sun. The difference between the real Sun and the fictitious mean sun is called the equation of time. Time zones. But if all clocks were actually set by mean solar time we would be plagued by a welter of time differences that would be “correct” but a major nuisance. A clock on Long Island, correctly showing mean solar time for its location (this would be local civil time), would be slightly ahead of a clock in Newark, N.J. The Newark clock would be slightly ahead of a clock in Trenton, N.J., which, in turn, would be ahead of a clock in Philadelphia. This condition prevailed until 1884, when a system of standard time was adopted by the International Meridian Conference. Earth's surface was divided into 24 zones. The standard time of each zone is the mean astronomical time of one of 24 meridians, 15 degrees apart, beginning at the Greenwich, England, meridian and extending east and west around the globe to the International Date Line

The surprise was complete. The attacking planes came in two waves; the first hit its target at 7:53 AM, the second at 8:55. By 9:55 it was all over. By 1:00 PM the carriers that launched the planes from 274 miles off the coast of Oahu were heading back to Japan. Poster commemorating the attack, 1942 Behind them they left chaos, 2,403 dead, 188 destroyed planes and a crippled Pacific Fleet that included 8 damaged or destroyed battleships. In one stroke the Japanese action silenced the debate that had divided Americans ever since the German defeat of France left England alone in the fight against the Nazi terror. Approximately three hours later, Japanese planes began a day-long attack on American facilities in the Philippines. (Because the islands are located across the International Dateline, the local Philippine time was just after 5 AM on December 8.) Farther to the west, the Japanese struck at Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand in a coordinated attempt to use surprise in order inflict as much damage as quickly as possible to strategic targets. Although stunned by the attack at Pearl Harbor, the Pacific Fleet's aircraft carriers, submarines and, most importantly, its fuel oil storage facilities emerged unscathed. These assets formed the foundation for the American response that led to victory at the Battle of Midway the following June and ultimately to the total destruction of the Japanese Empire four years later.
