Cat Distribution System - was technisch klingt ist eigentlich eher magisch.
This episode of Healing CPTSD finishes off a mini series unpacking emotions. Today we're talking about curiosity.I share how curiosity can be a quiet but potent force in trauma recovery — one that helps you move toward insight, connection, and a deeper sense of self. We explore how this emotion gently invites us to approach our inner world without judgment, opening up space for compassion, healing, and clarity.I also introduce you to Internal Family Systems (IFS) and how curiosity plays a key role in building a relationship with your parts — especially the ones you've historically ignored, shamed, or tried to shut down.If you're feeling stuck, numb, or overwhelmed, this episode will help you reconnect with your capacity to wonder, notice, and feel again — without pushing too hard.Need to work with a trauma informed therapist? McArthur Krishna graduated from BYU with both an undergraduate and masters degree. She co-owned an award-winning ideas marketing firm for a decade until she retired, got married, and moved to India. With church a plane ride away, she started spending home church time researching and writing children's books. Over years she has written 19 books, six co-authored with Bethany Brady Spalding at Deseret Book including A Girl's Guide to Heavenly Mother and A Boy's Guide to Heavenly Mother. Along the way she has coordinated some of the first art featuring women to be hung in the LDS Conference Center (Kathleen Peterson's art from the Girls Who Choose God series), commissioned and curated the first art show focused on Heavenly Mother with artists from around the world, and her own art was selected for the Church's International Art competition. The art (by Caitlin Connelly) from their book “Our Heavenly Family, our Earthly Families” was the first art portraying Heavenly Mother published at Deseret Book. After its release, the LDS church purchased a 12'x8' piece for their permanent collection— and it currently hangs at the Church History Museum on Temple Square. The L. Tom Perry Special Collection at BYU Library has asked for her manuscripts, photos, and life journals so that her seminal work on elevating women can be available to posterity.McArthur believes that unflinching hope, a lot of hours working with friends, and wifi can change the world… bottomless guacamole helps too. She's (always) got more in the works to live up to her favorite titles of Holy Harasser and Hogwash Eradicator. As we continue this great week of episodes, I'm delighted today to welcome Dr. Ethan Kross to the show to talk about his latest book Shift: Managing Your Emotions So They Don't Manage You, which is out February 4. Shift follows the success of Ethan's 2021 book Chatter: The Voice in Our Head, Why It Matters, and How to Harness It, which was an international bestseller. In Shift, we're talking all about emotions — and how they can be our superpower if we can learn how to regulate and manage them. How do we make our emotions work for us, rather than against us? Ethan is helping us find that answer. Ethan is a psychologist, neuroscientist, writer, and one of the world's leading experts on emotion regulation and is an award-winning professor in the University of Michigan's top-ranked psychology department and its Ross School of Business. He is also the director of the Emotion and Self-Control Laboratory. In addition to appearing on CBS Evening News, Good Morning America, Anderson Cooper Full Circle, and NPR's Morning Edition, he has participated in policy discussion at the White House and has had his research featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, The New England Journal of Medicine, USA Today, and more. He is a graduate of Penn and Columbia and has spoken at TED, SXSW, and consulted with some of the world's top executives and organizations. From Shift's opening pages, it's a power punch, and I'm excited for you to hear what he has to say. Shift: Managing Your Emotions So They Don't Manage You by Dr. Ethan Kross
Ever feel like you're constantly running out of time, energy, or focus? You're not imagining it—it's real, and it's why you feel stretched so thin. In this episode of The Diet Diaries, I break down the time, energy & attention "pie"—a powerful visual to help you understand where your resources are going (and why you're feeling so drained).
“ Staying calm under pressure isn't about being emotionless. It's about being intentional. When you regulate your emotions, you create an environment where trust and collaboration can thrive.”In this episode, I talk about the ability to regulate your emotions, which is a life skill that can make or break your effectiveness as a leader. I share the real story of a woman leader I worked with who needed to learn this skill, and did. Lastly, I provide 3 strategies to help you start regulating your emotions. In this episode:What emotional regulation is and what it's notThe story of a leader who struggled to stay calm under pressureHow this leader managed to transform her approachStrategy 1: Name the emotionStrategy 2: Pause before respondingStrategy 3: Reframing the situationYour action for this weekAnd more!Leadership Presence | Mastering the Inner Work of Leadership is your guide to leading with Less Ego and More Soul. I'm excited to share with you the second principle of sanity and victory—a concept that can help you feel more free from anxiety, stress, and worrying about what others think. These principles are designed to bring you a sense of peace while empowering you to create the life you want, which is the ultimate victory. In this episode, we dive into the power of surrender. What does it mean to surrender, and how can it become the ultimate life skill for you? I'll explain the meaning behind this principle and how it helps you flow with life, free yourself from unnecessary suffering, and stay calm, even in challenging circumstances. I'll also show you how to avoid the trap of thinking you need everything to go a certain way to feel okay, and how to let go of that need for control. If you're looking to feel less weighed down by life's demands and more empowered, this episode is for you. So, let's explore how surrender can bring you more freedom and joy, and set you up for victory. --------------------------------------------------------------- As a reminder, sanity, in this context, refers to a sense of peace and the ability to flow with life without sabotaging your well-being. Victory, on the other hand, is about breaking through challenges and becoming who you are truly meant to be. These principles are here to guide you towards both. Principle #2: Surrender Is the Ultimate Life Skill "Surrender to the divine flow is the ultimate life skill. Not my will, but thy will. I remember the fundamental error that I need something out there to be exactly a certain way in order to feel okay in here. Peace is available right now. I'm okay either way. All I need is within me now. I accept the current painting as it is and calmly walk into an entirely different room." Unpacking the Principle Surrender vs. Giving Up: When we hear the word "surrender," it's common to associate it with defeat. However, true surrender means submitting to a greater force, allowing life to unfold without forcing our will upon it. It's about trusting the process and recognizing that we don't always need to control every aspect of our lives. The Divine Flow: This principle encourages you to connect with the divine flow—whether that's a spiritual belief, the universe, or simply the natural progression of life. Understanding that life is happening for you, not to you, can alleviate the burden of needing everything to go your way. Accepting Reality: One of the biggest challenges we face is the belief that we need certain outcomes to feel okay. This fundamental error leads to suffering. We often say, “If only this person liked me,” or “If only I had that job,” then I would be happy. This attachment to specific outcomes traps us in a cycle of anxiety. Finding Peace Now: The statement "peace is available right now" reminds us that we can find calm within ourselves regardless of external circumstances. By shifting our focus inward and acknowledging that our worth does not depend on external validation, we can cultivate a sense of peace. Accepting the Current Painting: Imagine your life as a gallery filled with paintings representing different aspects of your existence. Instead of fixating on the ones you dislike, accept them as they are and choose to explore other rooms in your gallery. This metaphor illustrates the importance of recognizing your current circumstances without being bogged down by them. Applying the Principle in Your Life Now that we've unpacked this principle, let's explore how you can integrate it into your daily routine. Time for Action: Embrace Surrender Your action step today is to practice surrender. Here's how you can do this: Reflect on Your Attachments: Identify areas in your life where you feel anxious or stressed. Ask yourself what specific outcomes you're attached to and how they affect your emotional state. Practice Acceptance: Take a moment to sit quietly and breathe deeply. Repeat the mantra, “I am okay either way.” Feel the weight of your attachments lifting as you accept your current circumstances. Engage with the Present: Each day, find a small moment to consciously surrender. This could be letting go of a minor annoyance or frustration. Notice how this shift affects your overall mood and well-being. Utilize Guided Resources: Consider listening to the guided audio exercises mentioned in previous episodes. These resources can help reinforce your practice of surrender and acceptance. As we conclude this episode, remember that surrendering to the divine flow doesn't mean giving up on your goals. It means embracing the journey and allowing life to unfold as it should. By practicing this principle, you can cultivate a deeper sense of peace and freedom, empowering you to navigate life with grace and confidence.Join me next time as we continue our exploration of the Eight Principles of Sanity and Victory. Until then, may you have the courage to surrender and embrace the flow of life, knowing that all you need is within you now. Thank you for being here!

Recognized globally, Ruchira has been honored as one of the 21 women leaders in 2021 and awarded the Woman of Excellence Award in 2022. This episode delves into Ruchira's profound commitment to creating leaders who coach and take others along in their journey, perfectly aligning with the Arete Coach Podcast's exploration of excellence in executive coaching. Ruchira Chaudhary's approach to executive coaching emphasizes the importance of developing a coaching mindset in leaders across all levels of an organization. Her "4C plus" model focuses on enhancing capability, consciousness (self-awareness), clarity, and confidence in coachees. This comprehensive framework provides a structured approach to coaching that goes beyond traditional skill development, addressing the holistic growth of individuals. One of the key insights from the episode is Ruchira's emphasis on coaching as a life skill rather than just a corporate tool. She advocates for a shift in leadership paradigms, moving away from command-and-control styles towards more empathetic, question-based approaches. This perspective aligns with modern leadership demands, especially in the wake of global challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, which highlighted the need for adaptable and inclusive leadership styles. Ruchira also brings attention to the unique challenges faced by women in leadership roles and the importance of tailored coaching approaches. She emphasizes the need to focus on building confidence and self-belief in women leaders, addressing issues like imposter syndrome and work-life balance. This insight highlights the role of coaching in promoting diversity and inclusivity in leadership, ultimately contributing to more robust and dynamic organizational cultures. The Arete Coach Podcast seeks to explore the art and science of executive coaching. You can find out more about this podcast at aretecoach.io. This episode was recorded via Zoom on September 3, 2024. Whether you're getting ready for your loved one to move out of the family home, OR - just trying to prepare them for independence, There is one important life skill they need to learn. And no, it's not about cooking, cleaning, or handling money... It's about knowing how to ask for help. I remember when I first started to gain more independence. Many families may fear that their loved one isn't ready to move out. But no one ever has every skill they need at first. Listen to this episode to learn how to support your loved one to learn how to ask for help.

Welcome to Game Changers with Jeff Newkirk, where we speak with people who have done something to make this world a better place. It's simple: inspire, educate, and let's go change this world! On today's episode, Jeff welcomes guest Elaine Roberts, Attorney and Executive Director of the Dispute Resolution Center in Montgomery County, Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Houston Law Center and has extensive experience as a civil rights attorney and mediator in both the public and private sectors. Before joining the DRC of Montgomery County, she served as Director of the Houston Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, Legal Director of a statewide disability rights organization, and was a volunteer mediator, trainer, and board member for the DRC of Harris County. To begin, Elaine shares that she was the recipient of the prestigious 2020 Justice Frank Evans Award. Each year, the state board recognizes an individual who has contributed to the field of alternative dispute resolution. Since she was a young girl, Elaine knew that she wanted to pursue a career that would allow her to make a positive impact in the world. She studied history and sociology during undergrad, subjects which both apply to law. When discovered the field of disability law, she fell in love with the subject and saw it as an opportunity to make a difference in the world. She began to learn about the discrimination faced by people with disabilities. From there, she focused on her mediation practice, which sought to give people alternative methods to litigation law. The Dispute Resolution Center, Elaine explains, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded in 1988 by the Commissioners Court and Board Association. From the beginning, the DRC allowed counties to establish alternative dispute resolution centers for their citizens. There are now 17 of these centers across the state. Their core mission is to provide high-quality service and training for people to become mediators. The program actively works with students in their community to instill alternative conflict resolution skills in young people. Over 11,000 children have been through the program at the DRC. They also host an annual bookmark art contest to promote the center and its teachings. Before wrapping up, Elaine gives listeners a look into the DRC's plans for 2024. They will be expanding their juvenile justice programs. They will also be doing a 40-hour general mediation training course in June, during which volunteers will act as experienced mediator mentors. Reflecting on the course of her career, Elaine ends the episode by identifying her own personal and professional game changers. Learn more about Jeff Newkirk. Do you have any game-changers in your life? Be sure to let me know so we can celebrate their story and contribution to our world.
