"I used to live in Kew, so I had a personal connection to the audio. Initially I was thinking of doing something factually-based with spoken word about botany, say, or the gardens' history. As time went on, I became more inspired by the possibilities of the actual sound of the water, so the piece became more about that, more abstract. I processed the original audio in various ways (stretch, granular etc), added some of my own field recordings (including some made in the River Severn by hydrophone) and various digital instruments. Water - essential to life, certainly, but it is now becoming more and more destructive as the planet changes. Can't live with it, can't live without it..." Listen to this episode of The MOVEMENT Movement with Nick St. Louis about the impact of modern athletic footwear marketing claims. Here are some of the beneficial topics covered on this week's show: - How marketing claims in the fitness industry often lack scientific evidence, creating a challenge in discerning between legitimate research and marketing ploys. - Why you should embrace natural movement for optimal foot health and well-being - How many shoe designs are promoted despite lacking evidence of their effectiveness in enhancing performance or preventing injury. - Why embracing discomfort and risk can lead to growth and resilience in pursuing goals. - How the human body's adaptability and resilience allow for achieving physical feats beyond evolutionary expectations. "I started off with a grandiose scheme to produce a homage to 'Musique Concrète', the birthplace of which was Paris. I'd also found a PD recording (1922) of "Under The Bridges Of Paris" by the so-called "Queen of the Whistlers", Margaret McKee, which I decided to sample. After several weeks work, I wasn't happy with where this was going, so, with just a few days to go to the deadline I junked almost everything and started again! The marvellous Margaret survived the cull, while the rest of the piece now comprises nothing but the original field recording and re-workings thereof. The spirit of 'MC' is still in there somewhere..." Paris RER train reimagined by Nick St. George.

"As this project is the polar opposite of what I usually try to achieve (i.e. keeping my listener awake!), I found it very challenging. I doubt I have sufficiently suppressed my usual approach, and thus failed miserably to fulfil the brief! Anyway, here it is, with thanks to Libravox and 'Newgate Novelist" for the reading of Caroline Leakey's 19th C poem. The piece comprises mostly the original field recording and re-workings of same, plus a few extras." Rye Harbour reimagined by Nick St. George. To kick off the R2E podcast for 2023 we have a special episode with our founder Nick St Louis. Nick was over from Canada at the end of last year for a few weeks and it gave our team a chance to get some great clarity on the vision for TFC and also just to play and connect in person after a few years apart. One of the biggest take aways for us from the trip was the power of story and how crafting a new story for yourself is one of the major keys to having long-term sustainable change with your health and how collective stories are the driver of changes throughout culture. And so what we want to do with TFC is really help people shift their story around their foot health, from being a victim of their genetics or circumstances to being an active participant on a journey towards foot freedom. In this episode we explore this concept and give guidance on how to navigate that journey - this is a narrative that we will continue to build on throughout the year and we'd love to hear your feedback on how it resonates with you. This week's episode is brought to you by our brand new TFC Community. It's a completely free online space that we like to think of as private community hall for humans to learn, connect, share, inspire and support one another on the journey to foot freedom. Monkeypox fear porn is inundating the media as we transition to the next fad disease. Panic should never be used as a strategy to inform people - many are growing tired of the overreactions from officials. There is an impulse on the part of the public health community to try to manage public emotion rather than provide the public with facts. How really bad is the spread of monkeypox and what is the real science behind it? Tonight on Ground Zero, Clyde Lewis talks with neuroscientist, Dr. Kevin McCairn and researcher, Nick St. James about POX POPULI. #GroundZero #ClydeLewis #PoxPopuli https://groundzeromedia.org/7-20-22-pox-populi-w-dr.../ Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis is live M-F from 7-10pm, pacific time, and streamed for free at groundzero.radio. Hoy escucharemos de la banda canadiense Steppenwolf, Born to be wild.

"I spent six months in the 1980s working at the BBC World Service, so I felt a particular connection to the original recording. The vast majority of the piece comprises clips of this, processed and manipulated. A montage of other Short Wave transmissions was added at the top - thanks to Electronic Battle for the loan of the SW Receiver (and for helping me to the rig the aerial over the roof!). The recurring six note keyboard motif is based on the syllables of "BBC World Service". The title - the BBC's motto - is used ironically here." Composition by Nick St. George. Nick St. Louis (@thefootcollective) is the leader of a Health Network called The Foot Collective. Along with the team of “Foot Nerds” they aim to help you reclaim responsibility for your health. Nick says that we don't really have a healthcare system anymore: it's simply a “sick-care” system, and I agree. There is little focus on providing people with the tools, resources, and knowledge to actually be responsible for their own health. This conversation is a piece of trying to change that. Nick spends a lot of time these days working as a Bitcoin Advisor through a new platform called Bitcoin Stoa. It may not seem obvious at first, but Bitcoin can be a great tool to begin to reclaim our health. Everything we do, including anything health related, is influenced by the financial system. With Bitcoin, the opportunity exists to reclaim some freedom from this system, and allow us to finally have the time, energy, and resources to take care of ourselves. At the end of the day, all of this comes down to taking responsibility for our own health, and that is the overarching theme of this entire podcast. There is a lot to learn and a lot to implement. It starts with being curious, listening, asking questions and discovering your own truths. You can stay up to date with everything The Foot Collective has going on through the website and through their IG page. You can also visit Bitcoin Stoa to learn more about Bitcoin. If there was something in this episode that spoke to you, please share this with a friend; this is how we grow together. I would greatly appreciate any comments, questions or feedback. If you could share this with a friend, that would mean the world to me. If you enjoy this podcast, I would be extremely grateful if you subscribed and left a short review on iTunes. It really helps to spread the message and ultimately help more people. Connect with me on Instagram @danielyoresConnect with me on Twitter @danielyores Podcast Cover Art by @octopuslegss
John Kay from Steppenwolf. This is an extended interview excerpt from an upcoming PBS special. In 1965, invited by fellow German-born bass player Nick St. Nicholas (born Klaus Kassbaum), Kay joined a blues rock and folk music group known as The Sparrows, which had moderate success in Canada before moving to California, augmenting its line-up, and changing its name to Steppenwolf in 1967. With music that pioneered hard rock and heavy metal, Kay's Steppenwolf had international success with songs such as "Born to Be Wild", "Magic Carpet Ride", "Monster", "The Pusher", and "Rock Me".

Pisa bells reimagined by Nick St. George. "A bit of a departure for me - something of an academic exercise in sound manipulation. A musician neighbour recently introduced me to "granular synthesis" and, as a result, all of the audio in the piece (bar the poem and a little vinyl surface noise fx at the very end) originates in the field recording. "This was then processed via "granular" software and various Garage Band filters. Reading by Jemma Blythe c/o librivox.com."
Het tweede deel Etappe 2b zal morgen online komen, so stay tuned! If you have questions for me about the show, please email me, Steven Sashen, at move@jointhemovementmovement.com, or visit the website at www.jointhemovementmovement.com, and find what's going on, be part of the family of helping people discover and rediscover that natural movement is the obvious better healthy choice, just like natural food is... Waarom komen er maar weinig grote renners uit 'the US of A'? In today's episode, editorial director Tara Taffera shares some of the latest news in the auto glass industry, including new funding coming for the Payroll Protection Program. And our guest is Nick St. Denis, director of research for Key Media & Research, parent company of AGRR, who shares some key stats and indicators that will help you plan for the future.
See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
On this episode, I had a killer chat with Nick St. Louis from The Foot Collective. This dude is up in Ottawa, Canada, doing some amazing things, not just with his physio practice but with a whole movement around, you guessed it, feet! We dive into how he built a thriving cash-based practice in a government-sponsored healthcare system, the power of educating your patients (and the public!), and how he's juggling a clinic, an online community, physical products, and even getting into making shoes. It's a masterclass in niche-ing down and building something impactful.
In this episode, we discuss: • Foot health • The best module for physical therapy • Non-traditional healing modalities • Starting your own business • Why the majority of people have poor foot health • Optimal footwear • Movement-based treatment • Taking ownership of your own health • What is TFC? • Facing obstacles as a start-up • Having a vision as a health leader • Backlash in the healthy industry • Admitting when you are wrong • How to give people value • Be persistent and don't be afraid to ‘fail' • Best business advice • Controlling your mind • Your health is an investment • 5 to thrive Connect with me! www.instagram.com/rudiejay Connect with Nick! https://www.instagram.com/optimize.physiotherapy/ http://www.thefootcollective.com/ Resources: The Daily Stoic Book
We bring you a conversation about FEET! Juan recently attended a foot seminar with an interest to learn about his own feet / hip dysfunctions. This is information that everyone needs! Shoe companies are lying to you. We briefly touch on the tip of the ice berg, but hopefully we can provide some insight on your crooked toes! Make sure to check out Nick at @thefootcollective, thefootcollective.com, and listen in on his podcast TFC Audio Project. IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!!! Sorry...we just got excited for an epsiode that reminded us just why we love this show.A whole lot of stuff is going down in Riverdale as some loose ends get tied up and some mysteries get even murkier. The Black Hood is back and bloodier than ever, while Archie has to deal with the wrath of Nick St. Clair. Sheriff Keller is FINALLY being taken to task for not doing a good job, and the Cooper family has a very serious Chic problem. Welcome back, Riverdale. The Doghouse missed you.You can email us with feedback at macintoshandmaud@gmail.com, or you can connect with us on Instagram (macintosh.and.maud) and Facebook. If you like the podcast, make sure to subscribe and review on iTunes or your favorite podcatcher, and tell your friends. Episode 63 - Nick St. Louis, Your Flat Feet don't have to be permanent Nick St. Louie is an absolute monster of knowledge and self awareness as it pertains to how the human foot is supposed to work! Did you know that you can temporarily reverse fallen arches in under 5 seconds? Did you know that if your arches improve in under 5 seconds, even temporarily that it means you do not have to live with flat feet? I thought it was pretty cool to learn about this simple test that we take you through on this episode. Nick and I also cover topics like taping ankles for sport, how using a balance beam can change your feet and hips, and how to choose the perfect shoe. This episode is pure knowledge and you're going to love it. Nick can be found at: @thefootcollective www.thefootcollective.com
Archie shouldn't be in charge of plans anymore. A quick review of his prior decisions ought to make anyone think twice about being leader. Unfortunately, Archie's also kinda dumb and assumed his plans will save Riverdale, which is exactly why he decides to wear his letterman jacket to a showdown between rival gangs.Meanwhile, Betty's trying to figure out how to make amends while chatting with a serial killer; Nick St. Clair is the biggest jerk-monster in the universe; Cheryl decides she's had it with her mom's lies; and OMG MAUD IS A TV GENIUS because Fred's taking painkillers...Strap in, cause this one's a sprint to the finish. You can email us with feedback at macintoshandmaud@gmail.com, or you can connect with us on Instagram (macintosh.and.maud) and Facebook. If you like the podcast, make sure to subscribe and review on iTunes or your favorite podcatcher, and tell your friends.
