On January 14, the Trump administration announced the start of “phase two” of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said the second phase will transition from “ceasefire to demilitarization, technocratic governance, and reconstruction.” On Thursday, President Donald Trump formally launched the Gaza “Board of Peace,” initially presented as a transitional body to oversee Gaza's reconstruction. I will be speaking to Terry Weaver, filmmaker and the Executive Producer of The Beast of Trinity Texas. Terry told me he did not believe in Bigfoot before the film. While making the film he interviewed eyewitnesses who had seen the creature. It was during those interviews Terry said "These people are not lying, they saw something." It is available now on Prime.   I will also be speaking to Nadelle, who had an encounter in Washington State. She was staying at an Air B&B when a large create hit the side of the home waking her up. She said I just got a quick glance at it but it moved so quickly. Nadelle describes this low growl that shook her.

On Saturday, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) shot and killed a 37-year-old man in Minneapolis, Minnesota, following an altercation with federal agents. Earlier this month, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and killed Renee Good, 37, in her vehicle in a Minneapolis neighborhood, setting off large-scale protests. The latest shooting led to renewed calls from state officials for President Donald Trump to pull federal immigration enforcement agents out of the state. 12 months ago, we laid the groundwork to evaluate President Donald Trump's second term as objectively as possible.Our goal was to take a few objective metrics to judge a president's success: Things like economic data, promises kept, and the sentiment of American citizens. Given how much analysis and opinion we engage with every day, we thought we could refer back to these benchmarks periodically as a nearly unimpeachable way to judge the president's performance.When I think back to this time 12 months ago, one big detail stands out: I wasn't here. In fact, with the timing of a true troll, my son was born on the day of Trump's inauguration. Just days before, we had published the set of metrics we'd use to evaluate the president. It was the last major piece we published before I stepped away from Tanglefor a month.Now, here we are. Trump's second term is now one year old (just like my son), and I'm back in the driver's seat, ready to use the metrics we developed last year to evaluate the Trump administration. Before we get started, I want to give a quick note about our process. The benchmarks we chose to track are mostly hard metrics, but with a few qualitative assessments. We wanted to include things that are easy to measure (like gas prices) as well as some things that take a little more effort to evaluate (like whether the administration has kept a promise or not). Melissa Lucashenko grew up on the outskirts of Brisbane, where her Aboriginal mother grew plants and her Russian father built an improbable number of sheds in the backyard. Melissa worked as a motorcycle detailer, a house painter, a prison advocate, and a game show contestant before finding her way as a writer. Her novel, Edenglassie, imagines life in colonial Brisbane in the 1850s. In it, she tells the story of the Aboriginal warrior Dundalli who was the last man to be publicly executed in Queensland. But Melissa also explores contemporary Brisbane, highlighting what she calls the "double vision" of Aboriginal people.Edenglassie is published by the University of Queensland Press.This episode of Conversations was produced by Nicola Harrison. Aaron Tait was 18 when he was deployed after September 11. In recent weeks, President Donald Trump has escalated his efforts to acquire Greenland, an autonomous territory of the Kingdom of Denmark that he says is vital to national interests. The president has not ruled out using military force to take control of the island, while also threatening to impose tariffs on European nations who oppose the move. Navigator Will Oxley expected the 1998 Sydney to Hobart yacht race to be a challenging one. But when he and his crew met with 12-metre waves and 80km/h winds in Bass Strait, Will knew something was about to go horribly wrong (R)Will Oxley learnt the art of celestial navigation in his 20s and he is now one of the world's leading ocean race navigators.He has competed in the Sydney to Hobart race many times.He was navigating during the 1998 race when a freak storm hit off the coast of Eden.Will's yacht was upended by a giant wave.He and his crew found themselves trapped upside down for five long minutes, before another wave pounded them back upright, then broke the mast.He's also raced around the world 5 times, including the 10 months he spent sailing the wrong way round, against the winds, while skipper to a crew of sailing amateurs.Further informationFirst broadcast in 2021.Since we first spoke to Will he has competed in many more Sydney to Hobart races.
