Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 11ú lá de mí an Mhárta, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1985 tháinig nuacht iontach amach do chailín Éireannach darbh ainm Cathy Clair a fuair obráid iontach san ospidéal I Meiriceá. Rugadh í le ach ordóg ar a lámh chlé agus dúradh léi nach raibh dochtúirí in Éirinn ábalta aon rud a dhéanamh – ach fuair sí lámh nuair a bhí sí I Meiriceá. I 2008 bhí an costas de rudaí ag dul suas le 50% in aerfort Bhaile Átha Cliath. Bhí an costas ag ardú le seiceáil isteach ach dúradh nach raibh sé chun teacht isteach ar feadh tamall. I 1997 bhí 36 páiste ón Bhealarúis ag fáil réidh chun teacht chuig an chontae sa samhradh. Tháinig siad chuig Durlas leis an eagraíocht Children of Chernobyl. I 2005 chuid is mó de na láthair timpeall an chontae bhí siad lán mar tháinig a lán daoine chuig an chontae chun éisteacht le Johnny McEvoy, Foster and Allen agus Rebel Hearts. Sin Queen le Crazy Little Thing Called Love – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo i 1980. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1997 fuair Paul McCartney an t-ainm Sir Paul ó Queen Elizabeth II de bharr go raibh sé an cáiliúil sa tionscal an cheoil. Tharla sé ag Buckingham Palace I Londain. Níor tháinig Linda McCartney – a bean chéile de bharr go raibh ailse chíche aici. I 2024 fuair amhránaí Eric Carmen bás ag aois 74. Amhráin cáiliúil a bhí aige ná Go All The Way, All By Myself, She Did It agus Hungry Eyes. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh aisteoir Terrance Howard I Meiriceá I 1969 agus rugadh aisteoir Jodie Comer sa Bhreatain ar an lá seo I 1993 agus seo chuid de na rudaí a rinne sí. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo.

Passage: Proverbs 16:1-33 Once upon a time, and not so long ago, the idea of pride had mostly a negative slant. We routinely chided youngsters and people in the public sphere for boasting and displaying a prideful spirit. Society took a dim view of self-promotional displays as something unbecoming to society's good order and decorum. Instead we valued honest humility and saw it as a virtue highly prized, and as the proper opposite and antidote to pride. Yet now our culture demotes humility and celebrates pride, which tells us how distant our culture is from biblical wisdom. As we see in Proverbs 16, Wisdom gives us God's rejection of human pride while commending proper humility. And in addition, Wisdom will reveal God's reign over all the affairs of His creation, including hearts that are proud and hearts that are humble. This Sunday's sermon, then, will focus on this section of the word of God, as well as other important passages, in order to teach us about Rebel Hearts, Righteous Hearts, and the Reign of King Jesus over all.

Brasil-Mundo

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 19, 2021 3:49

Want to know more about how one of our award-winning directors crafts a complex scene? For our inaugural “Anatomy of a Scene'' special segment, we invited “Rebel Hearts” director Pedro Kos to peel back the curtain on his filmmaking process by dissecting a pivotal scene from his new movie. It's a fascinating “deep dive” that we know you will enjoy! The Scene: The 1967 Immaculate Heart General Assembly The nuns of the Immaculate Heart are determined to bring a progressive vision and more flexible practices into the daily life and mission of the monastery. But, when the Archdiocese of Los Angeles views this as a direct threat to his power, the nuns are faced with a life-altering choice: back away from their ideals or continue to fight for what they believe. In this scene, Pedro draws upon all the tools in his creative toolbox to bring this critical event to life and deliver a powerful emotional punch to the audience. Note: We recommend that, if possible, you follow along with us. The scene takes place from 57:44 – 1:01:47, timed from the beginning of the movie. Rebel Hearts is available on Discovery+ . “The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.” Yes, nuns. A lot of nuns. A lot of LA nuns to be precise. Rebellious, brilliant, creative, socially committed, take-no-cr*p-from-anybody nuns. These are the Sisters who form the heart-and-soul of Pedro Kos' joyful new documentary “Rebel Hearts,” a portrait of a trailblazing group of nuns in Los Angeles who took up the banner of the social and political activism of the 1960s and bravely stood up to the hierarchy of the Catholic Church. (Now screening on the Discovery + platform.) It's a story of political power, a mostly forgotten civil rights struggle and a riveting human drama all rolled up in one. Mike, a product of Catholic schools himself, gets things rolling with a conversation with his sister Kara, who shares her experience with Catholic education and has some fascinating insights into how the nuns she knew helped shape who she is today.  Mike and Ken then delve into director Pedro Kos' background to learn how his upbringing in Brazil was influenced by the Catholic Church. From there, it's a deep dive into the story of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and into the long, winding creative journey of the filmmakers. From animation to motion graphics to an exceptional musical score (and original songs by Sharon Van Etten and Rufus Wainwright), they used every tool in the toolkit to bring this important story to cinematic life. If a film about a group of nuns doesn't sound like your cup of tea, we challenge your preconceptions of what a compelling documentary subject can be. Have faith. After seeing this highly inspirational film and hearing all that Pedro has to say, you will thank us… and maybe a higher power, too… for the extraordinary gift that is “Rebel Hearts.” Follow us on twitter @topdocspod Hidden Gem:  Land of Gold

Director Pedro Kos' beautifully rendered story, REBEL HEARTS, takes us back to the 1960s and a Los Angeles-based group of trailblazing nuns, The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The Sisters bravely stood up to the patriarchy of the Catholic Church, fighting for equality, their livelihoods, and their own freedom against an all-powerful Cardinal who sought to keep them in their place. Their bold acts of faith, defiance and activism turned the Church upside down, helping to reshape our society in ways that continue to resonate today. From marching in Selma in 1965 to the Women's March in 2018, they challenged the notion of what a nun and a woman were supposed to be. These unlikely resistance fighters, including Anita Caspary, Helen Kelley, Pat Reif and iconic pop artist Corita Kent, were devoted to a life of service, not only to others but to themselves - forming a community that empowered each sister to live up to their fullest potential. Their desire to bring the church into modern life was met with forceful opposition at every turn. As each of them discovered their own talents and voices, they fully stepped into their roles as leaders in a movement that is still making waves. In the feature documentary REBEL HEARTS, director Pedro Kos combines incredible archival footage, stunning animation and two decades of interviews conducted and filmed by the film's producer Shawnee Isaac-Smith, to beautifully illuminate the story of these incredible women. Director Pedro Kos joins us for a conversation on the historic, political, cultural and spiritual significance these brave women had and continue to have on their own faith, but on the world beyond the walls of their community. Chad and I have a long history of watching movies together from living the Movie Pass (R.I.P) dream, to expanding our friendship across state lines. Today is Sunday which is Oscar night and in addition to episode 53, Chad and I talk about our ballots for tonight's show and how we think and who we want to win. Also towards the end we watch and react to the trailer for my most talked about least favorite movie, "The Snowman". THAT WAS MY MISTAKE AND THERE ARE TOO MANY FILES FOR ME TO FIX THE EPISODE BUT IT IS NOT DEMI LOVATO!** Today, is episode 50 of Rebel Hearts. Wow. I had Pat by my side as we talked about a lot of things. Ariana Grande in general but the Thank U, Next video, the really poorly written article (now taken down) about how she was anti queer, anti trans, and her "heterosexual narrative", her being told she's milking Mac Miller's death, and her Billboard "Woman of the Year" speech. We also talked about the 2019 Grammy nominations and it's diversity (finally) and why I think some of the noms were strange. We also talked about Poppy and Grimes and also touched on Matty Healy's comment about how there isn't misogyny in rock n roll and then his apology. Thank you for 50 episodes. Here's to more. Amid the mass leak from the Material Girl’s 13th album in late 2014, albeit 32 tracks in total, she released the album for pre-order on iTunes on December 20th, with 6 tracks being available for download. Rebel Heart was co-written & co-produced with Diplo, Kanye West & the late Avicii. Thematically, Rebel Heart represents the singer's romantic and rebellious sides; the ideas grew organically during the writing and recording sessions. Musically, it is a pop record which merges an array of genres such as 90’s house, trap, and reggae, while using acoustic guitars and gospel choir. Some of the songs are autobiographical in nature while others talk about love and Her career. To promote the album, Madonna made several television appearances and performances. Further promotion was done by the Rebel Heart Tour, which started in September 2015 & concluded in March 2016, visiting North America, Europe, Asia & Australia, including Her unique MTV-unplugged-style “Tears of a Clown” performance in Melbourne, which I was fortunate enough to see! I’ve chosen 13 tracks from the album, including the 4 single releases & one extra-funky mashup. So, to all my Rebel Hearts thank YOU from the bottom of MY Rebel Heart for listening & loving my Reworked series! It’s been an absolute joy to bring them to you. Today, Rebel Hearts has it's first interview. It is with the lovely Kat Hamilton formerly the front woman of the pop punk band "Manic Pixi". Kat talks about how the last year of her life with the band destroyed her and how she made the band her "God" and how she now believes in not making anyone or anything that high up above you, she talks about her new music, what it was like being the front woman to a band she felt wasn't going anywhere and how hard it was to heal. She also talks about how bands like Paramore and Death Cab for Cutie helped her release her most vulnerable to the bone music and what it means to people like her as a listener to hear people she has looked up to bearing their souls for strangers. Kat offers advice to girls starting or are in bands and I feel personally she had a lot of great things to say. Produced by John "Jellybean" Benitez, Mark Kamins & the late Reggie Lucas, and recorded between May 1982 & April 1983, including five singles (three Top 10 hits), the album has an upbeat synthetic disco sound, using new technology of the time, including the Linn drum machine, Moog bass & Oberheim OB-X synthesiser. But at the same time things are changing for the better. The change makers are stepping up. A wave of people making a positive difference. You can catch Kristie’s inspiring show on Universal Broadcasting Network. You go to the doctor because you think they have the answers, but these days doctors aren’t looking at what’s causing the illness. They’re much more interested in giving you a pill. So you take the pill, then you take another pill to counteract the side effects of the first pill. But there IS another option: nutrition, acupuncture, spirituality, emotional work, changing your lifestyle. While their background differs—Suzy was brought up on green juices and vitamins, while Allison grew up eating the standard American diet—they are both passionate advocates of a plant-based diet. Are you following your dreams? If everyone on this planet did what they wanted, the world would be such a happy place. We wouldn’t even need to compete with each other, because we all have a unique energy and unique gifts… we all have a unique soul song. Whatever you want to do, do it. If you want to sing, if you want to write, if you want to be a parent… do what brings you joy every day. That’s how we flourish. If we can do a little thing every single day, we can change the world! Find out about what inspired Kristie Reeves in Episode 107. Being hailed as “Sex and the City for Food,” The Food Heals Podcast brings together experts in the field of nutrition, health and healing to teach you the best-kept natural secrets to being a hotter, healthier, happier YOU!
