Wyndham Wallace is a Berlin-based writer whose critically acclaimed first book, Lee, Myself & I – about his friendship with Lee Hazlewood, the man behind These Boots Are Made For Walking – was published in 2015. He began his career as a music publicist in the mid 1990s, before running City Slang Records' UK office for eight years, but now works as a music critic for, among others, Uncut and Classic Pop. He also worked as music consultant on Sebastian Schipper's Victoria, for which composer Nils Frahm won a German Film Award, and can be seen fronting Almost Fashionable: A Film About Travis, which won the Edinburgh Film Festival Audience Award. In 2024, he helped lead a number of victims of child sexual abuse over three decades to a public settlement with Horris Hill prep school, and he continues to campaign for justice for all those abused in private education, past and present.Questions for Wyndham:I would love for you to share some of your journey. How did you get into the work you are now doing?Your own experience at Horris Hill, and how sexual abuse was the only angle that the law would accept to bring a case even though other equally appalling things took place there, leaving other victims without satisfactionThe broader issues of a culture that has outlived its usefulness, if it was ever useful, and its wider effects on societyWhether, for all their talk of safeguarding etc, schools today have genuinely learned anything from the last decade or two of abuse exposure. With new cases emerging it would appear not much has changed at all.The absurdity of separating a child from its parents at a young age when it's clearly seen abroad as seriously detrimental, even as a punishment, to a childThe need for mandatory reporting and how Duty Of Candour could have helped me (and other Horris Hill victims) put this largely behind us as early as 1985.Your belief that what we are actually dealing with here is a cult, pure and simple. Most of the signs are there, and it takes victims years to deprogram. I believe it's also helpful to think this way in terms of our parents, who had been similarly inculcated and are victims too, yet never receive an apology from schools (even when former pupils do)The link between music and memory. What is the work that you are doing now?#csa #horrishill #boardingschool #sexual abuse #boardingschoolcultsFor more information please visit: http://www.wyndhamwallace.comTo purchase his first book: http://jawbonepress.com/lee-myself-i/--- Piers is an author and a men's transformational coach and therapist who works mainly with trauma, boarding school issues, addictions and relationship problems. #ciaksibrinda #cinema #recensionefilm #recensione #film #movie #drink #beverage #beer #germanbeer #germanmovie #germancinema #berlin #berlino #brlo #brlø #victoria #sebastianschipper
We are pulling an all-nighter with Victoria this week on Scene Stealers. For The Vault Charles continues his love for Denis Villeneuve and riding sand worms talking about Dune Part Two. Leo flexes his muscles talking about a new movie for his Vault choice with Rose Glass' strong neo-noir Love Lies Bleeding. The main take is 2015's German film Victoria. Directed by Sebastian Schipper, the story follows a women named Victoria, played by the lovely Laia Costa, who has a fun night out of dancing, meets a group of guys, and finds herself mixed up with the wrong people. The catch, however, is that Victoria is filmed in one singular take, with the camera constantly moving, and the intensity taking the audience for a wild ride. Find out what Leo & Charles think on this episode of Scene Stealers!
Charles-Olivier Michaud, whose adaptation of Kim Thuy's award-winning novel Ru opens across Canada this Friday, January 26th, is here to ride along with Sebastian Schipper's 2015 single-take thriller Victoria, starring Laia Costa as a Spanish pianist who meets the wrong group of dudes in a Berlin nightclub and has a hell of a night as a result. Your genial host Norm Wilner wouldn't even be up at 4 am these days, you know?

Last but certainly not least, The Movie Newbie gang travels to Berlin to talk about an experience that will take place over one night, one city and one very long take. To conclude Raph's “Keep Rollin” theme, Victoria showcases the true meaning of a long take sequence with director Sebastian Schipper meticulously crafting a film that simply does not cut, from its quiet and casual beginning to its raucous and explosive ending. Have a listen to the final entry of this technical theme and stay tuned for the next one, proudly presented by Oli.Temps Rising @ Behind This Wall on 30/04/23Donation Link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tjx3peaks***JABRIEL ALSUHAIMI is a multi-disciplinary creative, working on a multitude of projects in the audiovisual sphere. In this episode, we have a (surprisingly) upbeat conversation about Ke Huy Quan's Oscar-winning speech on following your dreams. Is it really worth it to follow your dreams? Can you pursue your dreams and be financially safe? Do you have to work towards your dream? We then have a chat about everyone's favourite TV star, Pedro Pascal. We talk about the amazing success of HBO's The Last of Us, how a video game to TV screen adaptation finally worked, and the series' final episode. We then move on to announcing our new theme, for this one, our in-house actor Raphael Lecat takes the reins with a trio of films focusing on the long, continuous take. First, we take a look at another Hitchcock film, Rope (1948), Alfonso Cuaron's, Children of Men (2006) and Sebastian Schipper's, Victoria (2015).And also here is the donation link for Temps Rising on 30/04/23 with both Oliver and Jabriel on the 1s and 2s:https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tjx3peaksAnd you can find all the details for the event here:https://www.instagram.com/p/CqQq7E-souU/*** JABRIEL ALSUHAIMI is a multi-disciplinary creative, working on a multitude of projects in the audiovisual sphere.

All Melody is the latest work and tour by contemporary composer and pianist, Nils Frahm. This programme reveals the creative, emotional and physical processes involved when new material is combined with vast stage shows for an international schedule of truly daunting proportions. Captured during a number of visits to his studio, Nils opens up to his good friend, Sebastian Schipper, director of single-take Berlin heist, Victoria, for which Nils composed the award-winning original score. He also chats to his biggest fan, British TV, film and stage writer, Sam Bain. Not only does the show combine three incredible minds of music, film and TV, the audience is also treated to an immersive binaural experience, recorded at London's Barbican Centre during a run of sold out concerts.
With Antonia Quirke Cinematographer Seamus McGarvey has had an eventful 12 months, from being told to pack his bags overnight and get a flight to America to work on a major Hollywood movie, to catching Covid in Los Angeles, and then working on an entirely different movie in Sicily. He recounts it all in an exclusive audio diary for The Film Programme. 1917 was the biggest hit in British cinemas last year, and it belongs to a long tradition of films that appear to be shot in one take. Antonia looks at the history of one shot movies, and hears from 1917 cinematographer Roger Deakins, Victoria director Sebastian Schipper, Utoya: July 22 film-maker Eric Poppe, and Birdman star Michael Keaton. Production designer Maria Djurkovic reveals some trade secrets and explains how she built a Greek village in a British studio for the ABBA musical Mamma Mia.

We return to the trenches of the first World War to consider Sam Mendes’ 1917 within the greater history of World War I films generally, and as a companion to Peter Weir’s GALLIPOLI specifically. Following some debate over whether 1917’s continuous shot gimmick makes it more or less emotionally affecting, and an attempt to parse the film’s attitudes about war, we look at these two films in tandem to consider what they have to say about the failures of leadership in wartime, their respective depictions of young male friendship and communication, and to what extent each registers as an anti-war film. Plus, Your Next Picture Show, where we share recent filmgoing experiences in hopes of putting something new on your cinematic radar.
Jean-Michel Vecchiets Doku "Peter Lindbergh – Women’s Stories" will dem Fotografen huldigen. Im Gespräch mit Alexander Soyez ist außerdem Sebastian Schipper und Dieter Kosslick.
Premierowe propozycje to "Alita: Battle Angel" oraz "Jak wytresować smoka 3", natomiast tytułowa produkcja to film mocno zjawiskowy i to nie tylko dlatego, iż został nakręcony w jednym ujęciu!! 34. Victoria - Sebastian Schipper

Our last Iñárritu film is 2014's BIRDMAN, OR (THE UNEXPECTED VIRTUE OF IGNORANCE) (don't worry: that's the last time we'll use the subtitle). We offer fairly similar reviews, before talking about style over substance and the director's views on the superhero genre — and we end with some concluding thoughts on Iñárritu's oeuvre. Synopsis “Gutland begins with the arrival of an outsider in the agricultural community of Schandelsmillen. Harvest season is already well underway, but Jens a German drifter, is looking for work. He's taken on as a farmhand — and taken to bed by Lucy (Vicky Krieps), a single mother who picks him up at the village beer hall. Taciturn and solitary by nature, Jens doesn't ingratiate himself to the locals, yet they take an instant liking to him, bringing him along to parties, gifting him a trumpet, and inviting him to join the village band. Jens' first days in his new home flow by with bucolic tranquillity, but over time he will begin to unearth clues to Schandelsmillen's shadowy side — just as the villagers will slowly catch on to something shady about Jens' past.” With thanks to Kerri Craddock Trailer ---------- For more information about David Peck's podcasting, writing and public speaking please visit his site here or check out the site of his podcast on film, social change and much more.
