Jonny Miller uploaded his entire life to ChatGPT to use it as the ultimate AI coach. He created what he calls a Codex Vitae—with core personality traits, values, goals, burnout signals and more to load into ChatGPT. It hyper-customizes his responses, to help him access deep meditation states, create custom supplementation plans, and do deep research on areas of brain and body that he finds interesting. Jonny runs a course on nervous system mastery, hosts a podcast, coaches founders and CEOs, and is building a wellness app—all using AI. As a long-time friend and writer for @every, I was psyched to have Jonny on AI & I to talk about how LLMs are expanding the breadth and depth of what he can do. We get into: Energy as your greatest asset: Jonny's philosophy around pursuing a non-traditional path—like us at Every—by fiercely protecting his energy and optimizing for “aliveness” instead of higher revenue figures.ChatGPT projects for everything: His use of projects in @ChatGPTapp to organize different areas of his life; for example, he uploads his meditation journal to a Jhana project and asks it for advice when he's struggling with the practice on a particular day.Deep research in action: How he uses @OpenAI's deep research to tackle practical questions about moving his family to Costa Rica, hilariously esoteric ones about whether there's a connection between Pokémon and shamanism, and everything that lies in between. The rise of “centaur” teams: Jonny's belief that @kevin2kelly's prediction around “centaurs”—human + AI teams outperforming either human or AI working alone—is becoming our reality. This is a must watch for anyone interested in using AI for personal development, coaching, or to build systems that can understand you. My partner and I benefitted so significantly from the course individually and also as a couple in partnership. Understanding the language of our nervous system is immensely powerful and necessary for our optimal wellbeing and to give us greater agency in our lives, so I've been so looking forward to recording and sharing this conversation with Jonny. In this episode: - Jonny's experience with other modalities and how this led him into the nervous system- what exactly is the nervous system and why should we care about it- using the nervous system to avoid burn-out- an overview of polyvagal theory and how this informs us on our nervous system states- tools and practices that have helped Jonny and his clients, including longer term approaches to benefit our system over time, things to implement immediately whilst experiencing disregulation and techniques to keep working on our triggers when we are regulated and safe- approaching our triggers as teachers and gifts to build our emotional resilience- Jonny's observations of the correlation between nervous system state and our mental landscape- nervous system in relationship: understanding the language of our partner's nervous system so we can form betterconnection and hold better space for our partners- co-regulation, both the impact of being in positive community or a positive therapeutic dynamic upon our nervous system and also the negative impact of toxic environments To contact Jonny:Nervous System Mastery: https://nsmastery.com/ Twitter and IG: @jonnym1ller References: Dr Stephen Porges "Polyvagal Theory" Peter Levine "Waking the Tiger"

“Please let me keep this memory, just this one.”The time has come. The children have been put to bed and the adults are back in business. Oliver is finally returning to his rightful place picking out the next theme for The Movie Newbie. For this final series in our latest season, we're getting lovesick with BAD ROMANCE — a study of toxic, frustrated romances depicted on the silver screen. In this episode, we're talking about one of Oliver's favourite movies of all time (he's serious this time)… Michel Gondry's 2004 gonzo sci-fi masterpiece Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet in the unforgettable roles of Joel and Clementine. To make the proceedings even spicier, we're delighted to be joined by two outstanding guests, directing duo Jordan Sellers and Manu Ausin of the London-based production house Soup of the Day Pictures (check out their content in the link below). In this episode, The Movie Newbie gang welcomes filmmaker, director, writer, and all-around sublime human being Kyle Campbell-Pope as they travel through the dystopian world of Children Of Men. The team of four dissects this spectacularly bleak masterpiece, challenging its quality over time and reassessing how good it really is whilst others stand firm as a quintessential modern classic. For the first film of Raph's "Keep Rolling" theme, we take a look at Alfred Hitchcock's 1948 film, Rope. Based on the Patrick Hamilton play, the film tells the story of two men who murder for philosophical reasons, then host a party in the apartment where the body is hidden. Starring John Dall, James Stewart, Farley Granger and Constance Collier, this psychological thriller is littered with great performances. On this one, we discuss how Rope stands out as a daring work that pushes the boundaries of cinema, its notable use of long takes & hidden cuts (lol "hidden") creating the continuous shot, as well as its exploration of taboo subjects such as homosexuality and murder. We also delve into the themes of the film, including the Nietzschean concept of the "superman or ubermensch" and the idea of intellectual arrogance leading to moral corruption. Additionally, we analyze the performances of the cast, including James Stewart's portrayal of a former teacher who suspects that his students may be responsible for the murder. Join us as we explore themes of morality, guilt, and obsession in this classic Hitchcock masterpiece.Temps Rising @ Behind This Wall on 30/04/23Donation Link: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tjx3peaks***JABRIEL ALSUHAIMI is a multi-disciplinary creative, working on a multitude of projects in the audiovisual sphere. In this episode, we have a (surprisingly) upbeat conversation about Ke Huy Quan's Oscar-winning speech on following your dreams. Is it really worth it to follow your dreams? Can you pursue your dreams and be financially safe? Do you have to work towards your dream? We then have a chat about everyone's favourite TV star, Pedro Pascal. We talk about the amazing success of HBO's The Last of Us, how a video game to TV screen adaptation finally worked, and the series' final episode. We then move on to announcing our new theme, for this one, our in-house actor Raphael Lecat takes the reins with a trio of films focusing on the long, continuous take. We also examine the film's themes of redemption and sacrifice, as well as its controversial ending that sparked debates among audiences and critics alike. Additionally, we explore the performances of the talented cast, including Swank's tour-de-force portrayal of a determined and spirited young boxer, Freeman's wise and insightful presence, and Eastwood's surprisingly nuanced performance.Join us as we analyse the impact and legacy of Million Dollar Baby, a film that challenges conventional gender roles and delivers a deeply emotional and thought-provoking story.*** JABRIEL ALSUHAIMI is a multi-disciplinary creative, working on a multitude of projects in the audiovisual sphere. In the first episode of our Boxing theme, we delve into Martin Scorsese's 1980 masterpiece, Raging Bull. Starring a young and up-and-coming Joe Pesci, alongside an Oscar-winning performance from Robert De Niro, this film takes a deep dive into the turbulent life of Jake LaMotta, a middleweight boxer whose self-destructive tendencies threaten to ruin his career and personal relationships. On this one we explore the film's themes of toxic masculinity, jealousy, and redemption, as well as its stunning black-and-white cinematography and beautifully crafted sequences. Whether you're fan of boxing or just love a good character study, this episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in the crossroads of boxing and cinema. "Here lies poor Antoine Doinel, unjustly punished by Sourpuss for a pinup fallen from the sky..."For the final episode of our “Teenage Riot” theme, The Movie Newbie is revisiting one of the defining texts in 20th century cinema… Francois Truffaut's timeless coming-of-age tale THE 400 BLOWS. Studied in every Intro to Film Class, this 1959 masterpiece of the French New Wave distils the excitement and loneliness of the disobedient child unlike any other. Based on Truffaut's own rebellious and tragic childhood, the story follows a young Parisian by the name of Antoine Doinel as he skips school, steals from his parents, and eventually runs away from his parents. It's a timeless classic — and one that we uniformly loved on the podcast — so we were thrilled to meet in the studio to pick apart the acting, music, cinematography and more. *** JABRIEL ALSUHAIMI is a multi-disciplinary creative, working on a multitude of various projects in the audiovisual sphere. “What's your damage, Heather?”For the second instalment of Oliver's "Teenage Riot" theme, the Movie Newbies are diving into Michael Lehmann's 1989 cult classic HEATHERS. Starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater as the Bonnie and Clyde for the MTV Generation, Heathers is an ultra-dark, subversive, outrageous and delightfully weird teen comedy about teen suicide and the dog-eat-dog nature of high school. It has been said that without Heathers, there wouldn't be Mean Girls. HERE WE ARE AGAIN, bringing some flavour to your FRIDAY! This week we are diving deep into the vulnerable world of alopecia. Nikita was diagnosed at the young age of 17 with androgenic alopecia after a ‘you're balding' comment by a family member. This led to a variety of tests which came to the conclusion of an alopecia diagnosis. Through years of navigating this condition, attempting to ‘cure' it with medications, dyes, powders and even witch doctors to try and avoid her hair from balding further, Nikita had reached the stage in her life to decide to buy a topper wig. We love how vulnerable Nikita is during this episode and her positive outlook on her situation. She talks about navigating dating, being open and honest about her condition and what led her into making the decision to talk about this on a public platform such as tik tok! She has since has 3.2 million views on tik tok since sharing! We are so proud of her! Her new ‘Sophia' wig has become an incredible addition to her everyday life. Sorry we are not live in colour this week - we had some filming issues and decided to not burden you with terrible visuals and stick to good audio! We hope you enjoy! For this episode, The Movie Newbie dives into the world of Martin McDonagh's dark comedy Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing Missouri. A spit-fire screenplay, almost written to perfection by McDonagh, Three Billboards offers incredible performances from across the board, including a scene-stealing Sam Rockwell. Frances shines in what can be her finest performance to date, giving us her raw power and brutality as well as her vulnerability and sensitivity, delicately balancing and juggling the nuances of an incredibly layered character. In this episode, we discuss the streaming services that have conquered our world and corrupted our attention span. We also talk about Look At Me directed by Ken Kwek with an exceptional ensemble of actors (including Raphy's LaSalle buddies Yao and Shu Yi) and how Singapore bans this local film. But that's not all! Raphy also reveals his masterclass Frances McDormand theme, selecting three of his favorite McDormand films (Fargo, Almost Famous & Three Billboards Outside Missouri) ***JABRIEL ALSUHAIMI is a multi-disciplinary creative, working on a multitude of various projects in the audiovisual sphere. YO WHAT IS UP! We are back again with the third and final film of our Saudi Arabian Cinema theme, The Book of Sun. On this one, we meet a group of Saudi teenagers with dreams of being filmmakers like "the greats" Wes Anderson and Quentin Tarantino. Joined by one of their teachers at school, the group embark on a comedic, yet touching journey to create their first film. Starring Sohayb Godus, Baraa Alem, Ismail Alhassan, Ahmed Saddam, Nawaf Alshubaili and Eyad Ayman Kaifi, The Book of Sun exemplifies what it's like being a young person navigating the strange waters of making it in Saudi Arabia. This film had some lovely moments that made us really enjoy this film, so we really hope you do too. As per usual, don't forget to like, share and subscribe to The Movie Newbie. YO WHAT IS UP! We are back again the second instalment of our Saudi Arabian Cinema theme, Barakah Meets Barakh. On this one, we take a trip to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where we meet Barakah and Bibi (also Barakah) a civil servant and influencer questioning their place while navigating a forbidden romance. Starring the amazing Fatima AlBanawi and Hisham Fageeh, this film was Saudi Arabia's second-ever submission to the Best Foreign Film category at the 89th Academy Awards (it never got nominated though). This film truly brought tears to our eyes and we all really enjoyed this film, so we really hope you do too. As per usual, don't forget to like, share and subscribe to The Movie Newbie. YO WHAT IS UP! We are back again with a new season, a new theme, a new film to explore AND a new format (yeah omg I know). On this one, we travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where we meet Wadjda, a young girl desperate to own a bicycle of her own. Starring the amazing Waad Mohamed, Abdulrahman AlGohani, Reem Abdullah and Ahd Hassan Kamel, this marked the first time a film was entirely shot in Saudi Arabia. Add to that, Wadjda was the first film to be directed by a Saudi Arabian woman, the truly inspiring Haifaa Al-Mansour. Often having to side step religious police, Haifaa had to direct actors from inside cars and vans just to get the shots she needed. This film truly brought tears to our eyes and we all really enjoyed this film, so we really hope you do too. As per usual, don't forget to like, share and subscribe to The Movie Newbie. Yo what is up my lovely people, and we are back with more Movie Newbie content for Season 3 (kind of). On this episode we catch up and give a little update on what's been going on in our lives and what we did over the summer. We then get down to business and have a lovely chat about some of the movies and TV shows we've been watching recently. We also have a little format change for the podcast. We're doing away with the long unstructured free-flowing chat and are going to get down to business with questions. We're stopping with our usual "What's aged the best/worst" and replacing it with "Favourite Quote" and "The Armchair Critic Section." Dont worry, we're still keeping "Favourite performance," "Favourite Scene," "Mystery Question" and Ratings. Finally, we introduce the new theme from Jabriel, Saudi Cinema. For this theme, we look into three beautiful movies from the region:1. Wadjda2. Barakah Meets Barakah3. The Movie Newbie returns to the old Pixar well to discuss the sun-soaked fairytale Luca. Set in the Italian Riviera, Luca is an enchanting story about a young sea monster who discovers a new life for himself above the surface of the water. In this surprisingly combative episode, we debate the current state of the Pixar studio, the Miyazaki influence on this film, and how shoes are overrated. "It's Mom and me versus you and Dad" As we reach the end of our series on "F*cked Up Families", what better way to see it off than with one of the definitive movies about the toxic effects of divorce? For this episode, The Movie Newbie boys are graced – for a SECOND TIME – with an appearance from our beloved friend of the show Neringa Mikutytė to chat about Noah Baumbach's breakthrough dramedy The Squid & the Whale. Featuring career-best performances from Jeff Daniels and Jesse Eisenberg, it's a bitterly funny, quietly sad semi-autobiographical story about two young boys coping with the implosion of their parent's marriage in 1980s New York. (It also happens to be one of Oliver's favourite movies!) Listen to hear us all get real about familial history, discuss our favourite songs as teenagers, and struggle to pronounce... “It's the f***ing Catalina Wine Mixer”! In the second episode of our F*cked Up Families theme, The Movie Newbie turns away from the darkness and into the (slightly disturbed) comedic light with Adam McKay's 2008 cult comedy classic Step Brothers. Starring one of the all-time comedic duos, Mr Will Ferrell and Mr John C Reilly, the story (if you can call it that) follows the absurd rivalry that develops between two forty-year-old men after their parents get married to one another. It's filthy, it's immature, and it's arguably a masterpiece. In this recording, we jump between serious-minded debates about the status of modern comedy and rattling off our favourite quotes from the film. “Sometimes it's better to choose your own family”. The surrogate family plays an important part in our F*cked Up Families theme, and no place is it better explored than in Hirokazu Kore-eda's 2018 Palme D'or-winner Shoplifters — a modern-day Dickensian drama about a close-knit gang of thieves fighting to survive in Tokyo. For this episode, The Movie Newbie boys have been blessed with the indelible presence of Adam Marple and Budi Miller of the Theatre of Others podcast. (They're also Raph's former teachers!) How are you? This is a question we all regularly ask and answer on a daily basis. And in doing so, we rarely, if ever, expect or deliver a genuine response. As we are finding out – this is a huge problem, particularly amongst so-called high achievers – leaders in organisations, entrepreneurs, and others. The coronavirus pandemic seems to have only exacerbated that. This is something that frustrated my guest and his collaborator so much that he decided to look deeply into it. Jonny Miller – who you will get to know in this episode – and Jan Chipchase were both frustrated at the impact that burnout was having on their peers, family, friends, and themselves. So, they set out to explore the common triggers to burnout, how extensive the problem is, and what we can do about it. They set up a survey which was completed by 261 people, a follow-up survey during the covid pandemic, interviews and a literature review. The result is the Emotional Resilience in Leadership Report, which offers a fantastic analysis of what's happening, including the hidden stressors that can cause burnout. Jonny is the founder of Curious Humans, an independent consultancy that helps leaders ask better questions. He operates a coaching practice for founders and executives, hosts his own podcast and was one of the co-founders of Maptia. In this conversation, we cover tons of ground on emotional resilience, burnout, hidden stressors, and what we can do to prevent and combat burnout.
