Welcome to the latest episode of the midierror meets... interview series speaking to all kinds of people working in music and sound. In this episode, we're speaking with COSEY FANNI TUTTI, co-founder of the boundry-pushing Throbbing Gristle and performance-art duo COUM Transmissions alongside Genesis-P-Orridge. Cosey is known for her expansive electronic explorations - encompassing abstract, industrial, ambient, and experimental music, which has often been deeply connected to her own performance art. She was said to be a "wrecker of civilisation" by a Conservative MP after an art exhibition called "Prostitution" in 1976, and she continues to shake up what is deemed to be mainstream. She has released a succession of albums alongside Chris Carter, as Carter Tutti as well as Chris & Cosey, with the duo also collaborating with Nik Colk Void on CARTER TUTTI VOID material in subsequent years. In 2012, she soundtracked 'Delia Derbyshire: The Myths and Legendary Tapes' - a film about the influential composer using sounds collected from Delia's own attic tapes. Her book 'Art Sex Music' is a multi-award winning Book of the Year, and she has a new solo album out this Friday 13th June, entitled 2t2. http://www.coseyfannitutti.com/ http://www.chrisandcosey.com/ https://cargorecordsdirect.co.uk/products/cosey-fanni-tutti-2t2 This is series 2, episode 1 and there are 50 previous episodes available now featuring Fatboy Slim, CJ Bolland, Andrew Huang, Tim Exile, High Contrast, Mylar Melodies, Infected Mushroom, DJ Rap, John Grant and many more. Revivre. For years, some speculated on and even wished for a WWE without Vince McMahon at the forefront. Fast forward to the now, and things look very different after an initially glossy honeymoon period— with ridiculous ticket prices, declining ratings, a botched up WrestleMania and an internal feud between The Rock and Triple H, that's likely to have major consequences.

For several years, the Kédougou region in the far east of Senegal has been experiencing a gold rush. This race for the precious metal has led to a proliferation of artisanal mining sites, drawing thousands of gold miners from across West Africa. But alongside the economic boom, the region has seen a surge in human trafficking. In particular, hundreds of Nigerian women are forced into prostitution at the mining sites. This exploitation is driven by extensive transnational networks whose reach spans nearly every gold mining site in West Africa and beyond. Our Senegal correspondents report.

Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking trial resumed in New York City today after a Memorial Day weekend break. The trial, which began earlier this month, entered its third week of testimony with Combs facing serious charges including sex trafficking by force, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy.Last week, rapper Kid Cudi took the stand on Thursday, testifying about alleged incidents involving Combs, including one where he claimed his car was set on fire during his relationship with Cassie Ventura. Kid Cudi described Combs as looking "like a Marvel supervillain" during a subsequent meeting. Following his testimony, a Homeland Security Investigations agent provided evidence about computer data extractions related to the case.Combs, who has pleaded not guilty to all charges, is accused of being the ringleader of an enterprise that allegedly "abused, threatened and coerced women" into drug-fueled sexual encounters he called "freak offs." His defense team maintains that all sexual activities were consensual and that while his relationships sometimes involved domestic violence, he wasn't engaged in trafficking. The hip-hop mogul, once worth an estimated $1 billion, has seen his business empire significantly impacted by these legal troubles. Prior to his arrest, Combs had built a diverse portfolio including the Sean Jean clothing line, a partnership with Diageo for Ciroc vodka and DeLeón tequila (which ended in January 2024), Bad Boy Entertainment record label, and Revolt media company.Court observers have noted Combs' behavior during proceedings, including smiling, making heart-hand gestures to family members, hugging his attorneys, and maintaining a stone-faced expression during certain testimony. His former girlfriend Cassie Ventura previously testified, sharing graphic details about the alleged "freak offs."As this high-profile trial continues, it represents a dramatic fall for one of hip-hop's most successful entrepreneurs. The court is expected to hear from additional witnesses this week as prosecutors build their case against the music industry veteran who is currently detained while his trial proceeds.
Join me for conversation with Dr. Jaleh Mansoor (Associate Professor of Art History in the Department of Art History, Visual Art, and Theory, University of British Columbia) about her book Universal Prostitution and Modernist Abstraction: A Counterhistory (Duke University Press, 2025). Our discussion brought us to topics like the artists' muse, the modern laborer, and other figures precariously suspended between the object/subject dialectic. In Universal Prostitution and Modernist Abstraction, Dr. Mansoor provides a counternarrative of modernism and abstraction and a reexamination of Marxist aesthetics. Mansoor draws on Marx's concept of prostitution—a conceptual device through which Marx allegorized modern labor—to think about the confluences of generalized and gendered labor in modern art. Analyzing works ranging from Édouard Manet's Olympia and Georges Seurat's The Models to contemporary work by Hito Steyerl and Hannah Black, she shows how avant-garde artists can detect changing modes of production and capitalist and biopolitical processes of abstraction that assign identities to subjects in the interest of value's impersonal circulation. She demonstrates that art and abstraction resist modes of production and subjugation at the level of process and form rather than through referential representation. By studying gendered and generalized labor, abstraction, automation, and the worker, Mansoor shifts focus away from ideology, superstructure, and culture toward the ways art indexes crisis and transformation in the political economic base. Ultimately, she traces the outlines of a counterpraxis to capital while demonstrating how artworks give us a way to see through the abstractions of everyday life. Joy Taylor Wants To Legalize Prostitution In Order To Cure Male Loneliness Epidemic CoachGregAdams YouTube FreeAgentLifestyle YouTube
“Should prostitution be legal… and could it actually save society?”That's the provocative question at the heart of this bold and thought-provoking episode of The Ben and Skin Show, where the crew dives headfirst into one of the most controversial conversations of the day. Join hosts Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray as they unpack a viral take from media personality Joy Taylor, who claims that male loneliness is a “massive problem” and that legalizing prostitution could be the solution. What follows is a surprisingly nuanced, often hilarious, and occasionally jaw-dropping discussion about vice, regulation, and the unintended consequences of outlawing human behavior.
AP's Lisa Dwyer reports on a guilty plea to a lesser charge for an Olympic wrestler after a prostitution sting.

Red Meat, a collection of the tastiest tidbits from Audacy's conservative News-Talk radio stations, is covering a lot of ground this week. This episode covers kids and vulnerability to crime, efforts to legalize prostitution in one of America's favorite cities -- because that DOESN'T sound like a disaster, am I right? We've got fears of nuclear war all the way to -- you guessed it!-- the new Pope and theories about why the Vatican chose an American.

Happy Nine-year anniversary to WLRN! That's right! We have been bringing you a free, volunteer-produced feminist podcast for nine whole years since our humble beginnings in 2016. We couldn't have done it without YOU, dear listeners, so please consider a "happy anniversary" donation to help with our costs to attend the FiLia conference. You can learn more about that fundraising campaign here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5f09AG_mmgw&t=9s First up, hear WLRN's Mary O'Neill deliver the world news segment for the last time until further notice. Email info@wlrnmedia.com with your resume and cover letter if you are interested in taking over Mary's job of collecting and reading the world news every month. We love having new members join the team! Thank you, Mary, for your two years of service to the collective! After the world news, enjoy the song "And Leave" by Solely before hearing an interview Freda did with two women who exited prostitution and contribute to the podcast Red Light Expose. Red Light Expose highlights the voices of women who have exited prostitution and combats the growing acceptance and endorsement of "sex work" ideology. redlightexpose.com Finally, Sekhmet SheOwl rounds off the podcast with her compelling commentary about women, sex and sexuality. SheOwl emphasizes that it is not sex that is the problem, rather it is male dominance and violence that ruins sex for women. She encourages us to explore our sexuality away from all the hype of the male gaze and to base our encounters on love and care. Thanks again for tuning in to WLRN. #WLRN #feminism #radicalfeminism #redlightexpose On Exiting from Commercial Sexual Exploitation: Insights from Sex Trade Experienced Persons Written by Andrea Heinz (interviewee on edition 109) https://digitalcommons.uri.edu/dignity/vol5/iss1/8/ redlightexpose.com A new platform for critical voices of the sex industry https://nordicmodelnow.org/ The Nordic Model approach to prostitution (sometimes also known as the Sex Buyer Law, or the Swedish, Abolitionist, or Equality Model) decriminalises selling sex, provides support services to help those involved to exit, and makes paying for sex a criminal offence, in order to reduce the demand that drives sex trafficking womensliberationfront.org Working to restore, protect, and advance the rights of women and girls https://rights4girls.org/ Defending the dignity and human rights of young women and girls who experience gender violence and exploitation https://www.epikproject.org/ Men working to disrupt the demand for commercial sexual exploitation https://clementine-megalodon-86hj.squarespace.com/ The organization Wake Up Brother seeks to mobilize men to create a society free from prostitution and sexual exploitation
What did it mean to be bought, sold, and sexually exploited in the ancient world? In this powerful episode of Two Friends Talk History, Zofia is joined by doctoral candidate Florence Felsheim to explore the hidden realities of sexual trafficking in ancient Greece and Rome. Drawing on literary texts, archaeological evidence, and cognitive science, Florence unpacks how systems of enslavement and exploitation operated in societies often romanticized in popular culture. We examine the scale of the ancient slave trade, the gendered dimensions of exploitation, and how enslaved women were commodified—expected to provide not just labor, but sexual access. From Roman brothels to banquet halls, the episode reveals how normalized sexual violence was embedded in the fabric of ancient daily life.As part of Sexual Violence Awareness Month, this conversation sheds light on uncomfortable histories, connecting past systems of abuse to present-day conversations on power, consent, and human dignity. Listener discretion is advised.
