DCU CONTINUES!! Supergirl Trailer Reaction, Recap, Breakdown, Commentary, Analysis, Theories, & Full DCU Spoiler Review! Greg Alba, John Humphrey, and Roxy Striar dive into the brand-new Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow trailer from James Gunn's DCU, breaking down every shot, character tease, cosmic detail, and emotional moment. We explore how Kara Zor-El / Supergirl (Milena Tscharntke) is being reimagined as a fierce, battle-worn wanderer, her bond with Krypto the Superdog, her mission of vengeance, and how this story pulls directly from the award-winning comic by Tom King & Bilquis Evely. We talk the DCU tone shift, new costume design, the sword imagery, space-western vibes, and how this version of Kara contrasts with Superman (David Corenswet) in Superman: Legacy — plus potential ties to Brainiac, Lobo, the Czarnian Empire, The Woman of Tomorrow villain group, and DC cosmic lore. We also cover all confirmed DCU Chapter One: Gods & Monsters projects including Superman, The Authority, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Peacemaker Season 2, Creature Commandos, and every rumored future film (including Teen Titans, Justice League, and Lanterns). This trailer gives us massive tone, lore, and character clues, so we deep-dive into every frame while reacting to the emotional beats, the stunning cinematography, the fight choreography, alien worlds, and that needle-drop moment set to “Call Me” by Blondie. DC JUST DROPPED THE NEW SUPERGIRL TRAILER! James Gunn's DCU is officially expanding into the cosmic frontier with Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and today Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau break down everything we saw — from Kara Zor-El's powerful new characterization to the film's striking sci-fi aesthetic inspired by Tom King's critically acclaimed comic run. We explore how this Supergirl differs from Superman, why her harsher upbringing makes her one of the DCU's most compelling new heroes, and how the trailer sets the tone for a darker, more emotionally charged journey. What planets are we seeing? Who is the mysterious villain teased? And how will Supergirl connect to the larger DCU, including Superman, Swamp Thing, The Authority, and the upcoming Lanterns series? PLUS — we speculate on casting details, story influences, potential cameos, and what James Gunn and director Craig Gillespie are setting up for the future of the DC Universe. Is Supergirl poised to become one of the breakout characters of the new DCU era? If you enjoy these trailer breakdowns and theory dives, hit like & jump into the chat! One of the standout characters of the muck-man invasion of the seventies, Swamp Thing has been many things to many people over the years. He was a monster, an environmental activist, but most importantly a plant. Watching him punch monsters, punch goons, and punch scientists, I couldn't help but think to myself...what incredibly plant-like behavior. Matt and Tristan answer the eternal question, is Swamp Thing a rubber suit who dreamed he was a man, or a man who dreamed he was a rubber suit?

For this Thanksgiving-week One Shot, Laramy is joined by cohost Blake Fowler for a heartfelt, nostalgic walk through the comic book characters that shaped their lives as fans. Laramy reflects on why Superman, Daredevil, and other characters continue to mean so much to him—whether it's childhood memories, the first comic he ever read, or the stories he now shares with his daughters. Blake brings his own nostalgic favorites to the table with Batman, Skinner Sweet, Scooby-Doo, and Spider-Man, exploring how each character left a lasting mark on him over the years. The two also come together to revisit their shared love of Swamp Thing and how the character opened their eyes to deeper storytelling. It's a warm, reflective holiday episode all about gratitude, fandom, and the comic book characters that helped shape who we are.
This Week on Earth Station DCU! Drew Leiter and Cletus Jacobs review comics and stupid happens. In Action Comics #1082–1084, Superman investigates why reformed villains like Major Disaster are relapsing into crime, uncovers a conspiracy manipulating them alongside Batman, and ultimately learns that alien Foreverers have been exploiting their DNA to prolong their own lives. In Batman/Superman: World's Finest #36–37, Batman, Superman, Robin, Aquaman, and Swamp Thing battle the Floronic Man's eco-terror plot beneath the seas, ultimately uniting Atlantis and thwarting his bid for oceanic dominion. In Black Lightning #4–5, Jefferson Pierce clashes with Superman while struggling to guide his daughters, then reunites with his family to battle Volcana and the Masters of Disaster in Southside Metropolis, ultimately setting up his recruitment into the Power Company. "Sounds great, Piggy! But you're wrong about one thing. These paparazzi photos? I happen to know they were faked. See, Wonder Girl has this delicate little beauty mark... It's almost in the same spot as Diane's was..." Swamp Thing #66 by Rick Veitch entitled "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" has a little bit of everything. Including heaven, hell, John Constantine, Hellblazer, Arkham Asylum and its inmates, a brand new director of Arkham, and of course Abby and Alec. Both of them. This is Rick Veitch's run really taking off and showing both his metaphysical side and his satirical side. Rob Veatch guests on this episode to help break it down.
The SuperHero Homies are back to break down Gen V Season 2 — Amazon Prime's hit The Boys spin-off that's full of blood, satire, and super-powered chaos! In this episode, we review the final four episodes of Gen V and discuss how the season connects to The Boys Season 5 and the larger Vought universe. Before diving into the main discussion, we open with a 30-minute cold open covering all things pop culture and comics! We start with Absolute Batman Annual #1, where Batman beats up Nazis and white supremacists — which only makes us love this run even more. We also share our thoughts on new releases like Weapons, Bring Her Back, Welcome to Derry, and House Full of Dynamite. Plus, we talk about the upcoming Outer Worlds 2 video game and why Swamp Thing is the perfect gothic horror comic to revisit this Halloween season. Once we dive into Gen V, we discuss everything from standout characters like Cipher (aka Godolkin) and Polarity, to the show's deeper flaws — including its increasing reliance on tired superhero tropes and tone-deaf storytelling. We explore the highs, lows, and missed potential of this season while predicting what might come next in The Boys Season 5.
Silver-screen legend Adrienne Barbeau joins us for a Halloween-special deep dive into a career that moves from Maude to iconic horror: The Fog, Creepshow, and Escape From New York. Adrienne talks theatre roots, working with John Carpenter, and the voice work and TV roles that made her a household name. Follow The Cinema Psychos Show on Socials ❤️
And now a reposting of this rambling and too brief review of "The Saga of the Swamp Thing", Alan Moore's brilliant revival of the classic DC character that set the standard for him there after.

In this DC Spotlight episode, Jace and Rocky dive into another packed week of DC Comics, following Jace's return from New York Comic Con 2025 with fresh energy and insights. The conversation opens with how the current wave of DC K.O. tie-ins is enriching the main event without feeling obligatory, setting the tone for a week that balances emotional depth with big superhero spectacle. The guys unpack how Green Arrow #29 anchors the chaos in grounded, heartfelt storytelling, while Harley Quinn #55 leans into its sharp humor and fast pacing for longtime fans. They explore Absolute Wonder Woman #13 as a bold, introspective chapter that pushes themes of compassion and identity and speculate on just what the titular PRICE refers to. THe guys praise Green Lantern #28 for juggling multiple character arcs with ease though Jace felt the set-up issue was much more compelling than Rocky did. The finale of Green Lantern: Dark #7 earns extra discussion as they debate whether its emotional clarity redeems a series that's divided readers, while Detective Comics #1102 gets unanimous acclaim for putting the “detective” back in Detective Comics through gritty espionage-style art and high-stakes tension. From there they look at Justice League Unlimited #12, a standout DC K.O. tie-in that surprises with strong character beats for Power Girl, Aquaman, and Guy Gardner, and The Flash #26, where Mark Waid and Christopher Cantwell steer the tone back toward classic heroics even as Darkseid's reach expands across time itself. Immortal Legend: Batman #3 offers an experimental, puzzle-driven story that sparks mixed reactions but earns respect for ambition, while the Superman corner of the line dominates the week—especially Superman #31, a Lois and Lara-focused triumph that ties mythic revelation to personal courage, punctuated by Joshua Williamson's perfect handle on Superboy Prime. The guys bothed loved Superman #31, calling it the ideal blend of heart, history, and high concept. They close by highlighting the new DC Finest: Crisis on Infinite Earths collection, a Swamp Thing retrospective, Teen Titans: Starfire's YA trade, and Preacher Absolute Vol. 3, plus tease a slate of NYCC interviews featuring Bear Walker, Dean Haspiel, Cullen Bunn, Thomas Jane, and more—an energetic, discussion of everything DC is doing right.

[rating: 2.5/5] DISCUSSION BATMAN AND ETRIGAN Etrigan first appeared in The Demon #1 (September 1972) and was created by Jack Kirby. He created him at the behest of DC, who saw it as likely to be more commercially successful than the Fourth World and cancelled New Gods and Forever People to facilitate work on the new title. According to Evanier, Kirby had no interest in horror comics, but created Mark Etrigan in response to DC's demand for a horror character. Kirby was annoyed that Etrigan's popularity forced him to abandon the Fourth World titles before he was done with them. Etrigan returned for a four-issue miniseries in 1987, written and illustrated by Matt Wagner. Alan Grant followed this with an Etrigan feature in Action Comics Weekly #636-641 and a second ongoing title in 1990. The 1990 series lasted 58 issues, two Annuals and one #0 issue. Garth Ennis took over the title beginning with issue #40. Ennis' run included the first appearance of his character Hitman. This series was followed by a miniseries, Driven Out. Following this, John Byrne's Blood of the Demon lasted 17 issues, and ignored much of the continuity that took place after Kirby's initial run. While his first monthly comic book series was short-lived, and his second was canceled after five years, Etrigan remains a popular supporting character with occasional additional miniseries. Series in which Etrigan has appeared include Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Neil Gaiman's The Sandman, Kevin Smith's Green Arrow and Batman: The Widening Gyre, Garth Ennis's Hitman, and Cosmic Odyssey by Jim Starlin and Mike Mignola.
