Lenovo's ThinkEdge portfolio is deployed at one of the remotest locations in the world, handling power, environmental, and many other challenges to deliver faster insights and help the island conservation efforts. Balthazar Bino Baker owns the 7th ward where Ressler and Liz are trapped on foot fleeing from Townsend's men. Support the Show! Be sure to #FillTheFedora on Patreon. Case Profile for Balthazar Bino Baker Elizabeth and Ressler are being escorted back to the FBI much to the despair of Reddington. Even though an elaborate plan to use a decoy convoy is put into motion to protect Elizabeth, Townsend and his men are able to find the convoy and do some serious damage, not just to the cars but to Ressler who has been shot. Liz and Ressler manage to escape on foot into the neighborhood of the 7th ward. Enter Balthazar Bino Baker is a sort of mob boss that runs the 7th ward. He ensures that his people and establishments are well taken care of. He is also well connected as he knows who both Red and Townsend are. He has established a network called the pipeline that moves money from one runner to the next without anyone but the final baton holder knowing the ultimate destination. Red enlists Bino’s help to smuggle Liz and Ressler out of harms way. Be sure to answer our profiling question of the week: Will Townsend tell Liz Red's secret? 5G networks are coming online around the world, bringing new, innovative project opportunities. Will Townsend, senior analyst, networking infrastructure and carrier services at Moor Insights and Strategy in Austin, Texas, USA, discusses how latency reduction will drive innovation on projects. He also shares early 5G use cases involving edge computing. Odianosen Peter Ebhabha, PMP, project director at Huawei in Lagos, Nigeria, talks about how infrastructure, politics and funding can affect 5G launches in emerging markets. He also talks about 5G’s impact on the internet of things, remote medical support and education in remote areas.
Our guest this week is Will Townsend, Senior Analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy. He travels the world spending time with enterprise infrastructure providers and operators. So, he understands the technology and the services that get layered over it. And he’s got solid ideas about what is coming next. Many of the most disruptive transformations will happen in industries that are still “old school.” Like how ride sharing disrupted the for-hire car industry. And many of the disruptions we can’t even imagine yet. But we can see signs of what is coming with the newest generation of technology: Industry 4.0- Cloud and edge computing are already improving manufacturing through wireless connectivity. 5G- Fast throughput and lower latency allow efficiencies like extended Subject Matter Experts. These efficiencies will be cost disrupters that can help employers scale their workforce. Wi-Fi 6-This next iteration of indoor wireless supports multiple devices and the IoT to create better user experiences. Will also shares what’s going on with private networks, as well as the job opportunities that will come up even as old jobs disappear. Listen now to catch up on the latest “by the numbers.” And to hear how these technologies can help us cope with disruptions like COVID-19. And be sure to sign up for future episodes!Love the show? SDxCentral Weekly Wrap for Sept. 6, 2019 Plus, Nutanix CEO takes a dig at VMware, and AT&T names Jeff McElfresh as its new CEO Broadcom releases new PCIe switches; VMware the butt of Nutanix CEO barb; and AT&T names a new CEO to replace Donovan. Broadcom Releases PCIe Switches for Data Centers Nutanix CEO Dheeraj Pandey: ‘We Don't Sell Vaporware' AT&T Taps Jeff McElfresh to Lead Telecom Story 1: Today is September 6, 2019, and this is the SDxCentral Weekly Wrap where we cover the week's top stories on next-generation IT infrastructure. Broadcom released new switches and a retimer for data centers and cloud providers targeted at addressing the rising demand for high performance computing and storage. The new switches have up to 98 lanes and ports that can support high-throughput and low-latency applications such as deep learning, high-performance computing, and non-volatile memory access all-flash arrays. The switches also play a critical role in interconnecting general-purpose computing on graphics processing units, compute accelerators, and central processing units. The new retimer is designed to foster the deployment of the new switches in applications that make use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and high-performance computing. Will Townsend, a senior analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy, expects the new products to be impactful in the white-box market with companies like Arrcus, Cumulus, and others that focus on merchant silicon solutions. Townsend also said the move maintains Broadcom's position as a major player in the networking infrastructure market. The vendor's closest competitor in the data center interconnect and switch silicon space is Barefoot, which recently inked a deal to be acquired by Intel. Despite that move, Townsend said that Broadcom remains well positioned due to its incumbent position and market momentum. Story 2: Nutanix CEO Dheeraj Pandey took a pointed dig at rival VMware as part of the company's most recent quarterly financial release. In an interview with SDxCentral, Pandey said the company did not sell vaporware in pointing to a large contract it recently won at the apparent expense of its rival. Pandey's competitive spirit showed through as he also would not say the name of that rival. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
