“When most people think of grief they think of coping with a loss like death. But grieving happens when you're dealing with any loss– the loss of a friendship, a job, a chapter in your life, or, in this case, the loss felt after a breakup.” I'm opening up about healing from heartache following a breakup. After my two-year relationship ended in 2022, I was heartbroken. Not only was I grieving the loss of that relationship and the future I'd imagined, but I was also faced with the reality that I was newly single at 30 while most of my friends were married or in long-term relationships. In this episode, I speak vulnerably about how I coped with the five stages of grief, the steps I took to find myself again and the lessons I learned from that relationship– all of which helped me find healing, hope and happiness.RESOURCES & REFERENCES:- Listen to “Surviving Saturn's Return: ‘I Quit My Job and Moved Across the Country.' - with Raven Brinson Part 1 HERE and Part 2 HERE- Listen to “Sober Curious: Binge-Drinking, Bad Decisions, Blacking Out and Re-Evaluating My Relationship with Alcohol” Part 1 HERE and Part 2 HEREConnect with Astrocandy:Website: astrocandypodcast.comInstagram: HEREJoin the Astrocandy Social Club HERESign up for our free weekly newsletter HEREAbout Astrocandy:Host Raven Brinson invites you on a mission of self-exploration and discovery through spiritual and mystical topics like astrology; holistic healing and wellness; manifestation; mindfulness and meditation; human design; chakra balancing and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/astrocandy--4556333/support.

“Trust yourself. Believe in yourself. Don't let your doubt creep in. Trust in your talent, skills and ability and let them guide you.” Radio personality, podcast producer and singer Emily Sklar returns to the show to talk about the hidden cost of chasing your dream. After 11 years hosting shows on top radio stations like Detroit's Channel 955 and Washington D.C.'s HOT 99.5, Emily stepped away from the industry full-time in the summer of 2022 to explore her other passions and interests (listen to the “Bet on Yourself with Emily Sklar” episode to hear what led to her decision). With a microphone and a dream, Emily moved from D.C. to L.A. at the beginning of 2023. Since the move, Emily has achieved some of her biggest dreams: appearing on the nationally syndicated “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest,” working at 102.7 KIIS-FM and with the iHeartRadio podcast team, and performing live in venues around the LA-area.In the second part of this two-part episode (listen to the first part if you missed it), we discuss the dichotomy of living in the present while looking forward to the future and the importance of spending your life how you want instead of how you think you should. We share our experiences relying on tenacity and true grit to get us through tough times and surviving the ego death that comes with starting over. We talk about how our future plans have changed now that we've achieved a life-long dream and why it's beneficial to keep your options open instead of hyper-focusing on one goal.Resources and references:Listen to “Bet on yourself with Emily Sklar” from season 2 HEREListen to “The Hidden Cost of Chasing Your Dreams - Part 1” HEREBuy “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho HEREConnect with Emily:Instagram: HERETikTok: HEREConnect with Astrocandy:Website: astrocandypodcast.comInstagram: HEREJoin the Astrocandy Social Club HERESign up for our free weekly newsletter HEREAbout Astrocandy:Host Raven Brinson invites you on a mission of self-exploration and discovery through spiritual and mystical topics like astrology; holistic healing and wellness; manifestation; mindfulness and meditation; human design; chakra balancing and more.

“I've always been someone who can't let go of those [childhood] dreams. I want to make that inner child in me happy at all costs. So I had this deep-rooted dream to come to LA… But all of that logic comes in, and I'm like ‘is this realistic?'” Radio personality, podcast producer and singer Emily Sklar joins the show to talk about the hidden cost of chasing your dream. Since the move, Emily has achieved some of her biggest dreams: appearing on the nationally syndicated “On-Air with Ryan Seacrest,” working at 102.7 KIIS-FM and with the iHeartRadio podcast team, and performing live in venues around the LA-area.In part one of this two-part episode, we discuss the challenges of chasing a childhood dream and why it's crucial to believe in yourself when no one else will. We talk about the importance of creating opportunities instead of waiting for them, ignoring other people's opinions and limiting beliefs, and making empowered decisions that support your goals and long-term vision. We give advice on investing in your future and confronting the fears that come with following a lifelong dream. Emily shares what it was like to move to LA without a plan and how she held the faith when fear and doubt crept in. We also discuss the reckoning you face when you achieve your dream and it's not everything you thought it would be.Connect with Emily:Instagram: HERETikTok: HEREResources and references:Listen to “Bet on yourself with Emily Sklar” from season 2 HEREAbout Astrocandy:Host Raven Brinson invites you on a mission of self-exploration and discovery through spiritual and mystical topics like astrology; holistic healing and wellness; manifestation; mindfulness and meditation; human design; chakra balancing and more.Connect with Astrocandy:Website: astrocandypodcast.comInstagram: HEREJoin the Astrocandy Social Club HERESign up for our free weekly newsletter HERE

“My Saturn Return punched me in the face and knocked me on my ass… But without it, I wouldn't have found peace. I wouldn't have been stripped of everything that didn't serve me. I wouldn't have figured out who I am or what's important.” ‘Astrocandy' host Raven Brinson discusses the trials and triumphs she experienced during her Saturn return.A “Saturn return” refers to the moment Saturn returns to the same place it was when you were born. She bought (and sold) a house, started (and ended) a serious relationship and started (and stopped) the ‘Astrocandy' podcast. “I learned an important lesson… My success hinges on me, not anyone or anything outside of me. And if I set my mind to it, I can make it happen. I just have to push through the fear.” ‘Astrocandy' host Raven Brinson discusses the trials and triumphs she experienced during her Saturn return.A “Saturn return” refers to the moment Saturn returns to the same place it was when you were born. This occurs between the ages of 27-29 (and 56-60 and 84-90). The planet Saturn represents responsibility, discipline and maturity, which is why this transit forces us to make tough decisions that lead to our transformation. In this episode, Raven shares the tumultuous start of her Saturn return in March 2020, which coincided with a global pandemic, quarantines and lockdown. She bought (and sold) a house, started (and ended) a serious relationship and launched (and haulted) the ‘Astrocandy' podcast. By November 2021, Raven quit her job and moved 1,500 miles across the country to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. And that's just the *first* half of her Saturn return.Resources and references:- "How to Survive Your Saturn Return with Astrologer Desiree Roby Antila"- "Send Me a Neon Sign"- "Reading Your Birth Chart (Part 1): Astrology's History, the Planets, Saturn Return"- "Reading Your Birth Chart (Part 2): Major Aspects, Stelliums, the Twelve Houses"- "Saturn Return Survival Guide: Navigating This Cosmic Rite of Passage" by Lisa StardustThis episode is brought to you by Magic Mind– the world's first productivity shot.
