This is a repeat of an Irish Passport classic episode, "Ireland and India: Assassins of Empire", originally published on June 21 2021. Today, Leo Varadkar takes over as Taoiseach. This means that both Britain and Ireland have governments led by people of Indian heritage, as in London Rishi Sunak took over as prime minister in October. The coincidence has provoked renewed curiosity in these leaders, their backgrounds, and the complex shared history between Ireland and India under the British Empire. To mark the day, we're reposting our episode about that very topic: 'Ireland and India: Assassins of Empire'. Anarchist clubs, public assassinations, and secret rebel meetings in a notorious vegetarian restaurant – all these feature in this fascinating episode on the historical links between Ireland and India at the beginning of the 20th century. UCD's Conor Mulvagh explains why Ireland and India were so symbolically important to the survival of the British Empire, and why the independence movements in both countries were often deeply intertwined. We hear how Indian law students in Dublin joined rebel militias, forged friendships with leaders of the Easter Rising, and later took inspiration from Irish nationalism to challenge the British Raj. Vikrant Sharma, founder of the international relations website The Global Telescope, tells us about the many parallels between Ireland and India's history of British rule, and how both should perhaps be considered in a larger framework of colonial strategy and nationalist resistance. The books mentioned in this episode are: Conor Mulvagh, Irish Days and Indian Memories: V. V. Giri and Indian Law Students at University College Dublin, 1913-1916. Register here. With a growth in online purchasing, particularly since the pandemic, online age verification for buying alcohol is increasingly important. Currently most systems are poor, such as relying on honesty policies or uploading documents. In a new IAS-commissioned report, Jessica Muirhead looks at how 'Merchant Category Codes' could be used for online alcohol purchases. Every time a payment is made on a bank card, a code is sent with payment details to identify the type of transaction. This is already used to prevent under-18s from gambling and would better protect retailers from illegally selling alcohol to under-18s.This month’s IAS blogsLink to blogsAlcohol Toolkit Study: quarterly updateUCL’s quarterly alcohol data suggest that the number of increasing and higher risk drinkers has steadily increased since May 2021.Prevalence of increasing and higher risk drinking (AUDIT)Increasing and higher risk drinking defined as those scoring >7 AUDIT. They rebut the industry assertion that marketing is simply about brand switching and doesn’t increase and encourage consumption. The AHA argues that:“The alcohol industry logically requires the continual recruitment of new generations of drinkers. Indeed, many brands see marketing as a key way to recruit new consumers and some specifically target the youngest demographics of legal drinkers.”The report focuses on the danger of marketing to children and those in recovery. The AHA writes that it normalises alcohol and “creates a culture where alcohol is seen as an essential part of everyday life”. Respondents to the report’s survey said this led to pressure on them to drink in order to fit into that perceived culture. As the report states, studies have shown that children who are exposed to alcohol advertising are more likely to start drinking earlier in life, and subsequently will consume more. They are also more likely to develop alcohol dependency later in life. The AHA report asserts that the UK’s self- and co-regulatory approach to alcohol marketing fails to protect children from exposure to large amounts of marketing, with studies showing that children are aware of alcohol adverts and that they appeal to them too. Although there is less data on the effect of adverts to people in recovery, survey respondents discussed how marketing and imagery of alcoholic products is highly triggering and likely to increase relapse. They argued it should be treated like tobacco due to the harm it causes. The Office for Health Improvement and Disparities agrees that the current system is flawed, stating:“A consistent body of research demonstrates considerable violations of content guidelines within self-regulated alcohol marketing codes, suggesting that the self-regulatory systems that govern alcohol marketing practices are not meeting their intended goal of protecting vulnerable populations.”What is the AHA calling for?In order to catch-up with many other countries across the world who have implemented alcohol marketing restrictions – such as Ireland, Finland, France, and Russia – the AHA report was clear on its policy recommendations:‘Sobriety ankle tags’ rolled out after successful pilotFollowing a seemingly successful pilot for community sentences, ‘sobriety ankle tags’ have been rolled-out for ‘serious and prolific offenders’. Those who are known to reoffend after drinking alcohol will face a potential ban from drinking or limitation to the amount they can consume. The tags can detect alcohol in the wearer’s sweat and alert probation services if detected. An estimated 12,000 people will wear the tags over the next three years and judges can either include a condition that requires up to a year of abstinence, or have the person’s alcohol monitored with a defined level allowed.Previously the Government has said the tags would not be used on adults who are alcohol-dependent or suffering from certain medical conditions, and that they would not be intended as a treatment for alcoholism. The formal name for the requirement is ‘Alcohol Abstinence Monitoring Requirement (AAMR)’, and will be rolled-out in Wales first, with England following suit in summer 2022. Those who are banned from drinking and contravene the order could be:FinedHave their order extendedImprisonedThe Ministry of Justice says that the tags will help reduce the level of alcohol-related crime, with alcohol playing a part in 39% of all violent crime in the UK. They also state that such crime costs the UK economy around £21.5 billion every year.Discussing the pilot projects that saw such tags fitted to people with community sentences, Justice Secretary Dominic Raab said:“This innovative technology has been successful in policing community sentences with offenders complying over 97 percent of the time. Offenders now have a clear choice. If they don’t work with probation staff to curb their drinking and change their ways, they face being sent back to jail.”What are the legal complications?Dr Arianna Andreangeli, of Edinburgh Law School, has previously raised concerns about the potential legal issues surrounding the policy, stating “there is no doubt that it constitutes an intensive interference with the individual’s right to private life, as enshrined in the European Convention on Human Rights”. She questioned whether there are sufficiently strong safeguards to accompany the policy in protecting these rights.A 2012 paper however, argued that “the law clearly permits the imposition of sobriety conditions, and there are no convincing grounds for objections based on human rights law”. The authors went further, stating that “in fact, given the prospective benefits to both offenders and the public, it would be extremely unethical not to implement the scheme”.What are the health concerns? When the pilot projects were launched, a number of NGOs highlighted that that the tags needed to be implemented within a holistic system of support and prevention.Nuno Albuquerque, an Addictions Counsellor at the UK Addiction Treatment Group has previously said:“What they're doing in effect is just slapping a sticking plaster over the top of a person's open wound. Tagging them simply stigmatises them for drinking alcohol and doesn't address the root cause of the problem.”“Collaborative support between probation teams and treatment providers needs to be in place so that when the tag comes off, the person won't want to drink, rather than being forced not to drink.”Dr Richard Piper, Chief Executive of Alcohol Change UK, echoed Nuno’s concern about the risk of stigma, saying that there is risk of reinforcing the stigma that people living with alcohol problems face, reducing the likelihood of them seeking support. He said:“We must address problem drinking as a whole, including preventing it before it starts. We need a properly funded alcohol treatment system that is well-integrated with other forms of health and social care. We need to encourage those whose drinking is increasing to seek help before it becomes a serious issue, and make it easy for them to do so.”This touches on an important aspect of the policy: that it is reactionary and may do little to reduce the number of people initially engaging in alcohol-fuelled crime. The Ministry of Justice is focusing on the 97% compliance rate as they have no data on whether the tags actually reduce crime, especially when the tags come off. Further, as Dr Piper points out, there is little evidence to suggest the scheme will reduce drinking in the long-term, after the tags have been removed.Cross party group of MPs demands better approach to reduce alcohol harmOn 25 November the Commons debated alcohol harm, with a group of cross-party MPs calling on the Government to improve their response to a growing crisis. The debate, jointly secured by Labour MP Dan Carden and Conservative MP Derek Thomas, highlighted the harm alcohol causes to individuals, society and the economy. There was consensus among the parliamentarians present that the Government is not doing enough and needs to launch an alcohol strategy to tackle the rise in deaths and liver disease.Thomas said the strategy needs to be part of the Covid recovery plan and that minimum unit pricing needs to be introduced “without delay”, as it’s already been shown to work in Scotland.Thomas said:“Far from being an issue for individual responsibility, as it is often framed by the industry, there is a compelling case for Government intervention to end the cultural celebration and normalisation of alcohol in public, while vulnerable individuals suffer harm and stigma behind closed doors. Never before has action on alcohol been so urgently needed as it is now. We must do more; we must do better.”Labour MP Liam Byrne spoke of his personal experiences as a child, with a father who struggled with alcohol problems:“Trying to make yourself invisible to disappear from the shame of some terrible public incident; the chronic insecurity; the bouts of violence; the hospital visits; and the trouble with ambulances. There is the pervasive sense of guilt. Am I doing enough? Is my father okay? Is he eating? Is he starving? Or is he on a floor somewhere?”.Shadow Public Health Minister, Alex Norris, highlighted the cuts to treatment services and that Labour wants labelling on products to be improved as “It is about informed choice; we know that that is what customers want too”.Maggie Throup, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, said the Government have agreed to carry forward the recommendations of part two of Dame Carol Black’s independent review of drugs and will publish a drug strategy later this year which “will also benefit people seeking treatment for alcohol dependency”.Disagreement over alcohol duty reformFollowing the Government’s October Budget announcement that included proposed reforms to our outdated alcohol duty system, the House of Commons and Lords have discussed the potential impact of the changes. Industry figures too, have reflected on how the reforms will play out.Conservative peer Lord Kamall, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of Health, responded to criticism from Labour’s Baroness Hayter, who said freezing duties will be bad for public health, by stating that public health advocates have been calling for this reform for years.Lord Kamall argued that the change will encourage alcohol producers to develop and push lower strength products, and the public to consume these cheaper, lower strength products, which will reduce harm.Baroness Finlay questioned what the Government’s contingency is if the reform doesn’t reduce harm. Kamall responded that a programme is underway to address alcohol harm, including setting up alcohol care teams in hospitals and supporting children of dependent parents. In the Commons many agreed with the duty reform, with Conservative Dehenna Davison focusing on ciders, with: “My inner low-tax Tory let out a massive cheer when I learned that fruit ciders were going to see a reduction in duty as well”. The SNP’s Carol Monaghan asked Davison whether she recognises “that fruit ciders have been linked to alcoholism in children, and that it is not necessarily a good thing to cut the tax on them?”, to which Davison responded that cutting tax is generally a good thing, but has to be alongside a proper public health strategy.Other Scottish MPs pointed out wider issues with the reform, with the SNP’s Peter Grant saying that successive British Governments have failed “to put the wellbeing of the people front and centre of their taxation and spending plans”, highlighting the wealth various Scottish distilleries bring to Westminster coffers but not to the local Scottish populations, many of whom live “on or below the breadline”.  Alcohol industry figures have also pointed out perceived flaws to the reforms, with the Wine & Spirit Trade Association’s Chief Executive, Miles Beale, stating:“We are mystified by a proposal that embeds unfairness between products meaning that beer will be taxed between 8p and 19p per unit, wine increases to 26p per unit and spirits remain at 29p per unit.”There is undoubtedly a level of unfairness between how much alcohol will be taxed between the ABV strength 3.5-8.4%, with cider paying under half that of beer, wine and spirits. No clear rationale was provided for why beer is charged double that of cider between these strengths. The Grocer also argued that although much of the duty reform makes sense, the “glaring exception” was that of reducing draught duty only for containers 40 litres and above. They said this will punish small British brewers who tend to use 20-30 litre containers. The Guardian agreed with this, saying small producers argue the plans “would stifle innovation and favour large corporations” - as it’s the big brands that cause harm, not small independent producers, even those making high-strength drinks. In response to a Parliamentary Question, Exchequer Secretary Helen Whately said that “We will discuss the size of containers that will qualify for the relief with brewers as part of our consultation process.” Conservative MP Mike Wood was reported as being “confident” that this limit will be reduced to 20 litres.Scottish LibDems and 28 NGOs call for minimum unit price to increaseIn mid-November the leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, Alex Cole-Hamilton, called for minimum unit pricing (MUP) to be increased from 50-65p in Scotland.Mr Cole-Hamilton said:"Alcohol misuse can wreck lives. Even today we are seeing an average of 20 people per week die due to alcohol misuse. Experts have suggested that raising the minimum unit price to 65p in line with the original ambition of the policy would cut alcohol misuse and reduce the pressure on our health and justice systems.”He added that once it is increased it should be linked to inflation and thus increased each year, in order to avoid a diminishing effect over the years.SNP Public Health Minister, Maree Todd, confirmed that the Scottish Government has "begun to gather information in order to review the minimum unit pricing of alcohol".This call was followed on the 19 November by a group of 28 health charities and medical experts, who urged the Scottish Government to increase MUP to 65p to help reduce harm.Alcohol-related deaths in ScotlandThe group included Alcohol Focus Scotland, with their Chief Executive Alison Douglas saying:“We need to off-set both the effects of inflation and of the pandemic, and adjust the minimum unit price to a level that will save more lives and prevent a new generation from developing an unhealthy relationship with alcohol.”Dr Alastair MacGilchrist, chairman of Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems, said that there is a “sweet spot” when setting MUP:“If you set it too low it's not going to be effective, but if you set it too high it's going to have an unfair impact on moderate drinkers. We think that raising to at least 65p would be the correct level just now and would certainly save lives.”A day before, on 18 November, Nicola Sturgeon responded to a question on raising MUP during First Minister’s Questions, saying that the evaluation was ongoing, and any changes needed to have a “robust evidence base”."Prior to the pandemic, we were seeing early encouraging signs of a reduction in alcohol sales and a reduction in alcohol specific deaths. The pandemic and the changed legal landscape post-Brexit are two significant events that are impacting on this work and must be factored into the analysis."Diageo’s Christmas ‘responsibility’ campaign normalises excessive drinkingThe alcohol giant is in full festive swing, recently launching both a bold marketing plan and a corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign called ‘Know When to Stop’. Within its marketing plan, Diageo is looking to grow its market share by a huge 50% by 2030, using the following tactics:Ironically perhaps, another target for 2030 is to reach 1 billion people worldwide with dedicated ‘responsibility’ messaging.Their Christmas campaign ‘Know When to Stop’ involves a number of animations depicting “overindulging in common holiday pleasures, such as eating sweet treats, binge-watching television and films, and over-decorating your home”.Each animation ends with the line “There’s a happy limit to everything. Drink Responsibly”. It could be argued that this comparison of excessive alcohol consumption and other ‘over-indulgences’ such as decorating one’s home aims to normalise drinking. In a 2019 BMJ blog, Professor Mark Petticrew and Dr May Schalkwyk argued that:“Christmas is a favourable time for the alcohol industry owing to a rise in marketing and sales, and an increase in events during which alcohol is served and consumed. However, this period also poses a threat to the alcohol industry as the adverse social and short-term health impacts potentially become more visible, and this visibility risks elevating public and media awareness of alcohol harms. To deal with these public relations risks, the alcohol industry is well versed in employing corporate social responsibility initiatives”.They pointed out that:“These attempts by the alcohol industry at promoting safety during this time of increased risk from alcohol harms, may actually be something different: mixed messages that normalise or even promote drinking heavily while attempting to minimise the visibility of short term overt harms, thereby ensuring that the industry gets its gift this Christmas—increased profits partnered with an unharmed corporate image.”No major economy covers the cost of harm from alcohol, tobacco and sugarThe Centre for Global Development, a US international development think tank, published a paper on 17 November that looked at taxes on alcohol, tobacco, and sugar, across 25 major economies, and whether they cover the cost of the harm they cause. The authors write that carbon taxing has garnered a lot of interest recently, whereas corrective taxes on the mentioned three products are “comparatively overlooked”. They state that these taxes “fall far short of the huge negative externalities and self-imposed costs from alcohol, sugar and tobacco”.Across the 25 countries, which account for three-quarters of global GDP, 60 million productive life years are lost every year due to the harm these three products cause, with an economic cost of $2.1 trillion each year, about 2% of GDP in advanced economies. The following graph highlights how none of these countries get back the money lost in harm, with Bangladesh the closest to recouping the money, and Russia and Ukraine furthest away. When looking at alcohol individually, Turkey is the only country that raises enough tax to cover finances lost due to alcohol harm. The authors argue that such taxes “should be a routine part of the advice provided by international financial institutions to emerging markets and advanced economies with high rates of consumption” and that the IMF and World Bank are paying “growing but still limited attention to these kinds of taxes in operations in fiscal policy”.IAS will shortly publish a blog by the authors on the subject.Alcohol-fuelled incidents at Wales rugby matches spark criticismBBC Wales published a story on 23 November highlighting a number of alcohol-related incidents at rugby matches in Wales during the Autumn internationals. These incidents included a child being vomited on, a boy being given £20 after having a beer spilled on him, and pitch invaders in two matches, one of which potentially prevented Wales from scoring a try.The article quotes a liver specialist, Dr Dai Samuel, who said, “the halo of rugby has well and truly slipped this autumn”.It goes on to quote IAS’ Dr Sadie Boniface, who said:"The normalisation of heavy drinking in relation to sport is at odds with the health benefits of participating in sport. Alcohol marketing also means alcohol is virtually unavoidable in sport. For example, in the 2020 Six Nations, there were alcohol references several times a minute. There is a link between alcohol sponsorship in sports and alcohol consumption, including among children and young people.”Dr Boniface argued that IAS would like to see similar legislation in the UK to Ireland, which has banned alcohol advertising during sporting events.Interestingly, the framing of the new law by some seems to already be comparing it to the French Loi Évin rules, which are often circumvented by using ‘alibi marketing’: using marketing that is synonymous with a brand without directly mentioning it.The Welsh Rugby Union said:"It is policy for our staff to intervene if people are visibly intoxicated - this happens in three main areas: The turnstiles where people can be denied entry, at the point of sale if they try and buy alcohol, and in the stadium bowl."The story also quoted a previous IAS blog by Habib Kadiri, who asked "why we haven't extended the alcohol ban to all sporting grounds? Perhaps it is because no other sports have attained football's notoriety. But why risk it?".In a recent Parliamentary Question, Baroness Hayter asked what plans the Government has “to protect children and vulnerable populations from exposure to alcohol marketing”, following the IAS, SHAAP and AAI Six Nations marketing report. In response, Lord Parkinson said that the “UK advertising industry has some of the strictest alcohol regulations in the world [and that] if new evidence emerges that clearly highlights major problems with the existing Codes, then the Advertising Standards Authority has a duty to revisit the Codes and take appropriate action.”The UK Alcohol Alert (incorporating Alliance News) is designed and produced by The Institute of Alcohol Studies. If you have been feeling like you’re missing something in your diet and/or have been considering investing in supplements, then you are in for a special treat! In this episode, we chat with the Queen of Algae, Catharine Arnston, about this “super duper food” that does it all - the magical algae. Catharine is the CEO and Founder of ENERGYbits® and has dedicated the last 12 years to bringing Algae to America. We think it’s safe to say that mostly everybody knows they should be eating vegetables. What they might not know is we should actually be eating tons of it everyday. According to the USDA, the average American falls far short of consuming vegetables on a daily basis. That means we are not getting enough nutrients in our bodies. Thanks to Catharine and ENERGYbits®, getting efficient nutrition has never been easier. For example, because algae is so nutrient-dense, you can actually replace the need for veggies (www.energybits.com). That’s only one life-style benefit, but you’ll have to listen to the full episode to hear all of the amazing health benefits algae provides because it is truly mind-blowing how many there are. Catharine is an amazing person and a rockstar entrepreneur. We believe what makes her a strong entrepreneur is her vision and her ‘why’ behind what she does. She is determined to help people live healthier lives naturally and will stop at nothing to bring algae to America! Hear how an incident on the way home from school on May 4 1972 changed Richards life forever. Richard Moore, then aged 10, was shot by a British Soldier. Luckily he survived, however, the rubber bullet did untold damage to his eyes and meant that he lost his sight completely. This was during the troubles in Northern Ireland where there was a huge divide between nationalists (catholic's) and unionists (Protestants). Richards family had recently lost a family member to the violence and Richards blinding left the family further rocked. Incredibly many years later he met the very soldier who shot him that fateful day and while his Dad was not alive both Richard and his mother were willing to forgive the individual. Richard has never let blindness hold him back though and after a time at University he had a successful business career which included running and owning two pubs as well as nights spent playing guitar in a band. In 1996 Richard started his own charity. Children in Crossfire focused on compassion right from the start. Richard and his team based the entire ethos of the organisation on compassion. Although compassion with a plan which Richard refers to as crucial. It offers to support, educate and care for children living in poverty (poverty referred to as the conflict). Its Ambassador list includes the Dalai Lama of Tibet as well as tv star and activist Joanna Lumley. The charity uses donations from individuals as the Irish and British Governments to help children in Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi as well locally. It continues to thrive to his day. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/mark-longbottom2/message

But in 2009 when her younger sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and advised by her oncologist to change her diet to an alkaline one because it would help her heal, Catharine put her career on hold to help her sister. In the process, she discovered algae, the most alkaline, nutrient-dense plant in the world that no one seemed to know about. Catharine knew algage would be a game-changer for the world if she could just help people understand it and so she founded her company Energybits.   Algae s a multi-billion dollar crop in Asia where it has been used for decades. Algae is endorsed by NASA and the UN as the most nutritionally dense food in the world. There are over 100,000 studies documenting its benefits, some of which include increased energy, improved focus, strengthened immune system, reduced inflammation, removal of toxins, enhanced longevity, improved sports performance, removal of hunger and revitalized skin and hair health. All this from a 4 billion-year-old, single-cell organism that has forty vitamins and minerals, the highest concentration f prten n the world, ne calres and one ingredient. The only thing wrong with algae is that it is virtually unknown outside of Asia.    This podcast interview is set to help change that in our corner of the world By the end of this interview you will be rushing out to get yours.   Workout Fuel Give your body the protein and micro-nutrients it needs to perform without sugar or artificial sweeteners. Daily Greens in One Minute Making sure your family eats veggies doesn't need to be a struggle. Think of Bits as your daily greens insurance! plate No More Hangry Spirulina is a cultivated algae that has been consumed for thousands of years by the indigenous peoples in Mexico and Africa. It has the highest concentration of protein on earth - triple that of steak - as well as the second-highest concentration of an Essential Fatty Acid called GLA (second only to mother's milk). Spirulina is loaded with antioxidants and unique phytonutrients like phycocyanin and SOD. Chlorella algae are harvested in freshwater tanks and have been used for over fifty years in Asia. It has a remarkable ability to help remove toxins and help build the immune system. All naturally. Chlorella contains over 40 nutrients, including all the B vitamins, iron, zinc, and many minerals. It offers so many benefits we would never have enough room here to list them all. "When it comes to nutrient density for omnivores, vegans, vegetarians and anyone looking to optimize their diet with dense quantities of protein, amino acids, fatty acids, DHA, antioxidants and more, you simply cannot beat chlorella and spirulina. But not all algae is created equal, which is why I swear by ENERGYbits® as my go-to algae source, bar none." LAND Algae produces 100x more protein than cattle and creates zero waste. This efficient nutrition protects our land. AIR Algae provides over 80% of earth's oxygen and even removes CO2. Thanks to algae, we breath deeper and better. Ohmmm. WATER Water is a precious resource. Algae farming uses 20% less fresh water than  WORRY-FREE SOURCING SAFE. Energy bits grow their algae outdoors in carefully monitored fresh water tanks fed by triple-filtered spring mountain water. You can't find a water source or algae that is purer or cleaner. PURE. Energy bits use sound vibrations to crack our chlorella, passing the chlorella through a sound chamber. Most chlorella companies use an older technique to crack the chlorella. They tumble it with glass beads that leak lead into the chlorella.   If you live in the USA or Canada use the code Lisa at checkout for a 20% discount at www.energybits.com. I have a wonderful guest, uh, who you're about to hear from Catherine Ernston of www.Energybits.com. Now, Catherine is the CEO and founder of a company that deals with spirulina and chlorella. Speaker 2: (01:18) Doesn't sound very interesting, but I can assure you this interview will have your mind blown as to how beneficial spirulina and chlorella are for your health. Um, and we will do a really deep dive. There's um, did you know that spirulina has 64% protein, that it has over 40 vitamins and minerals, that it is backed by the United Nations and by NASA they use it for astronauts in outer space. It is an eco-friendly crop. It's got over 100,000 studies done on it, showing the different benefits of these, uh, blue green algae. Um, and the founder, Katherine Amston, got into this through her sister having breast cancer. And through that she decided she wanted to help her sister and started to look at the plant based diet. She started to look at what alkalizing diets were all about and she stumbled across Algie and found out just how powerful it is. Speaker 2: (02:21) And so for the past decade, Katherine has been on a mission to let them world know just how important the nutrients I'm involved with a spirulina and chlorella. So it's a really, really interesting conversation. Make sure you stay to the end. Right. I just want to remind you too, I have my book, we'll link this coming out and just a couple of weeks time from the time of this podcast. It's the story of bringing my mum back after a major aneurism and left her with massive brain damage and hardly any higher function left. And we were told that she would never do anything again and that she wouldn't be with us long at stage. My mum had no ability to speak to communicate. She had no memory. She had no ability to control any bodily function, so the lights were on and no one was home. And this is a book about the desperate search for answers and looking outside the box and everything, the protocols, the therapies, the doctors, the research that I did, uh, and the work that I've done with her over the past four years to now have it back to full health again. Speaker 2: (03:25) So it's really heartwarming and amazing book. I've spent two years in writing this book and I really hope it's going to help thousands and thousands, if not millions of people. If I had my way, there's so many people suffering out there from brain injuries who need to know. Um, and this is not just for strokes or aneurysms, but across the board, all different types of brain dysfunction, whether it be Alzheimer's, dementia, strokes, uh, concussions, uh, aneurisms, all of these things. Um, this is a real good book if you facing any of those things, but also for anyone who wants to know about mindset and mental toughness and overcoming massive challenges when the odds are stacked against you, um, and who hasn't faced situations like that. If you're a human, you sort of get check these things at life. So I'd really love you to go over and check that book out. Speaker 2: (04:15) It's on my website now available for preorder at www.lisatamati.com hit the shop button and that will take you through to my shop with my books and my jewelry collection. So make sure you check that out. If you do that now you would also get access to mindset you, which is my online mental toughness and emotional resilience course, uh, that's valued at $275. You'll get that for free if you order the book before it launches on the 11th of March, but only up until then. Okay. So make sure you go and do that now. Um, and I really appreciate that right guys over to Catherine Amston Speaker 3: (04:53) well, hi everybody. Welcome to the show. Once again, it's wonderful to have your loyalty back with us for another exciting episode of pushing the limits. Today, I have the amazing Kathryn Anson with me. How are you doing Catherine? I am a well and wildly excited for being here. Now, Katherine has been traveling for the last couple of weeks, then conferences, so and so have I. So we're both sitting here very tired but very passionate about what we do. So Catherine is in Canada, sorry. She is a Canadian but she's living in Boston. Um, and she is the founder and CEO of a company called ENERGYbits, uh, which, uh, is a company that deals with spirulina and chlorella. So we'll start there. Katherine, can you tell us a little bit of your background and why you ended up down the spirulina and chlorella? I know algae who knew algae could become the love of my life? Speaker 3: (05:51) Uh, well I, you know, I started with a traditional career. I have an MBA, was doing international business, blah, blah, blah. And then my younger sister in Canada in Toronto, uh, developed breast cancer. And fortunately her oncologist advised her to change her diet to an alkaline one because they said it would help her with her healing process. She was going to do the chemo, but they didn't tell her what it was or why it worked. So she called me. Cause of course I love my sister, but also I'm just a really good researcher. I probably should have been a scientist. I said I have no idea what I'll go on a diet is, but you know, I know how to get on the internet and we'll figure this out. And it turned out to be mostly a plant based diet because of the phytonutrients and mostly the chlorophyll that helped build your immune system. Speaker 3: (06:34) And so when you're doing chemo, having a strong immune system is critical. I mean it's important at anytime, but certainly when you're doing chemo. So she did change her diet. She did heal from her, uh, breast cancer and 10 years later she's still cancer-free. And in the process of helping her with her research, I read about 10 books on plant based nutrition. Now this is 10 years ago, nobody was talking about plant based nutrition then as they are now, it's mainstream now. And I was like this outlier and I said, I was crazy, blah blah blah. But I just saw the science. I said, no, this is, this is important stuff. Somebody should tell the rest of the world that, well I have no nutrition background, but I saw what it did for my sister. I know I can help other people. I'm going to give it a shot. Speaker 3: (07:16) I have no idea how I'm going to do it, what kind of education I'm going to get. But I gave up my 25 year corporate career for a year for a health coaching certificate. But you know, gave me a little bit of science. Um, after I graduated, I taught nutrition for a year at corporations and hospitals anywhere who would let me in, cause I put a curriculum together and to try to teach people how to, you know, to incorporate more greens into their diet. And I learned two important lessons from that. One is that everybody knows they do need to eat more greens and to most people either don't like them or it's too much work or their kids or their husbands won't eat them. So they're, they're stuck. So I thought, okay, if I'm going to help people get healthier, prevent all these chronic illnesses or recover from them, I've got to find something that's green, fast, easy, doesn't require any work. Speaker 3: (08:11) And back to the internet. I went and I started digging around trying different things and I found the algae. Now I found it for my sister originally but hadn't really dug deep into it. So I dug deep and I was like, Alison wanted landfall in the rabbit hole because I found out that algae is the most nutrient dense fit in the world. It's the most alkaline fluid in the world. It's the most studied food in the world. There are 100,000 studies documenting the various athletics, um, physical, mental, any aspect of algae. It pulls out toxins, you name it, but there's 100,000 studies. And the problem is this knowledge hasn't gotten out of the scientific community and into the consumer world, but it has an Asia where it's a multibillion dollar industry and they've been using it for 50 years. And you know, in Japan, they don't take supplements. Speaker 3: (09:03) They just take chlorella, algae every day. And I point out to people that in Japan they have some of the best longevity, the lowest cancer rates, the best skin and hair. And I think a lot, you know, some of it is I attribute to the algae. So when I started seeing how powerful algae was and how easy it was to take, cause you could just swallow it and you're done. Um, and you know, it's endorsed by the United nations as the answer to world hunger is adores by nationals, the most nutrient dense food in the world. And they feed as the astronauts. I thought, okay, that's it. I'm spending the rest of my life to help people understand algae because I think it's the last chance we have to get nutrients into our bodies at the same time. By the way, we're also helping the environment because it's ecofriendly sustainable and we can talk about all that as well. So it's been a very exciting, challenging ride because everyone in my family and my friends thought I was off my rocker, but, um, but I, and I was on a show called shark tank. I don't know if you're familiar. Yeah. And, um, they made fun of me of course. And they said, we don't think you're in love with being an entrepreneur. You're just in love with algae. And I said, well, you're right. I am in love with algae and if you knew as much as I did about algae, you wouldn't love it. Speaker 3: (10:15) Oh man. There I am. 10 years later, uh, I feel algae is my, my, uh, super child that I'm, I'm helping to coax into the world. Uh, and it's about to be discovered in a big way. In fact, um, here in America there's a, um, uh, fast, uh, food. It's healthy food. It's called sweet greens, very, very healthy chain. They've got a hundred, a hundred and some stores. And just today they announced that their, um, their, their biggest effort this year is they're going to create a kelp salad bowl. Kelp is, they said, wow. You know, 2020 is the year of Kelp. And of course, kelp is part of the algae story. It's all part of the same family. So it's like, okay, we're getting closer. I have to stop you there because you need five minutes. You've just given us a condensed version of 10 years and there's a number of areas we can go down the list. Speaker 3: (11:09) So, uh, we talking, so algae, so the blue green algae, we're talking spirulina in chlorella and in particular, right? We talking spirulina being one of the most perfect foods on the planet, the most nutrient dense. Is that correct? Yes. So, um, I'll step back a little bit cause it really helps me, it took me a while to figure this out. So I'm eager to share the simplicity of it. It's like anything, once you know how to do something, it's easy. But until then it's a big mystery, right? So algae is just another food group. You know, we have fruits and we have vegetables. algae is a its own food group and it subdivides into two subgroups. So let's take fruits for example. Um, you might have bananas and apples as two subgroups. Well, within algae you have, um, seaweed or kelp and micro algae. Speaker 3: (12:02) And then taking the analogy of the fruits with apples, there's different types of apples. There's granny Smith apples, there's delicious apples. Well within the micro algae category, there are two main types. There's blue green and green, and one blue green algae is spirulina and one green algae is chlorella. Now these two are really the only two that are harvested as a crop. So it's number one to point out that algae, spirulina and chlorella are not a supplement. They are a food crop. And also equally important is they are not grown in the ocean. They are grown and cultivated in fresh water. It's called a hydroponic. A lot of lot of farmers grow hydroponic salad and tomatoes. algae is the same way. It's just grown in fresh water. Now I mentioned this because there are thousands and thousands and thousands of other strains of blue, green and green algae all growing in oceans, lakes, swamps, warming pools, your aquarium. Speaker 3: (13:08) And those are all poisonous and toxic. So if anyone is listening to this and they, and they go online and they read about toxic blue green algae, yes. That if it came from the ocean, not spirulina or chlorella, they are not toxic. And the reason why is cause algae will absorb whatever's in the water. So if it's in a contaminated water supply, of course it's going to be toxic. And I spent, I've spent a lot of years making sure that because we sell our products from doctors and functional medicine and wellness clinics, so they needed to be sure ours was pure and clean. So we do third-party lab tests here in the United States by an FDA approved lab. We even test for neurotoxins. Well, I think I'm the only company, algae company in the world that proves that there are no neurotoxins that are algae. Speaker 3: (13:58) So I just mentioned this because people will go to the internet and they'll start Googling algae and they'll find some information about toxins and then there'll be panicked. And I want to assure you there is no, there are no toxins. Certainly not an R spirulina or chlorella because we grow them very carefully and monitor them and test them, but they're grown in fresh water. It's a crop, not a supplement. Gotcha. And now if we go into the breakdown of, of the spirulina in the, um, chlorella or as far as the, the, it's, it's packed with protein. It's packed with um, pretty much everything to sustain. When I, when I started looking into it, I'm going, well we actually, we don't need to eat anymore. We can just say spirulina. That's true. She didn't live forever on spirit and although the only nutrient it does not have is vitamin C, which is really interesting. Speaker 3: (14:55) But other than that, or not much vitamin D, but other than that, in fact I'm the one and I should put a press release about it. I would about this. I know, I noticed, I saw it years ago, I saw a chart that identified all the nutrients in mother's breast milk, especially all the amino acids. Yes. Gosh, that looks awfully familiar. And sure enough, I checked our amino acid profile in spirulina. Exactly the same aminos. Exactly the same portions. So, and that helped explain to me why in Japan if babies are born and they cannot digest mother's breast milk, the only thing that keeps them alive is spirulina and water in it. Now I understand it's because the nutrient profile is very similar to two mother's breast milk. But of course, everyone knows mother's breast milk is the perfect food after the age of two, it's a little tough to get right. Speaker 3: (15:44) And actually I was just, I've just been reading a study on um, uh, brace, smoke and its anticancer properties with the, uh, what is it? The LBM and the, the, Oh, there's the name of it. One of the, and I wonder if part of it is cause it say well, you know. Yeah. Um, so, uh, and we can talk to, I would like to explain to your listeners the difference between the two allergies because they, they do completely different things in your body. But just while you're talking about the cancer thing, um, as I mentioned, spirulina is a blue green algae and chlorella is a green algae. And the rate, the reason why they're called that is because spirulina has two pigments in it. The one that everybody knows is chlorophyll, which is a green pigment and that, and chlorella only has the green, but spirulina has another pigment in it that's blue and it's called phycocyanin. Speaker 3: (16:34) Now, the interesting, and we won't dwell too much on this, but the interesting thing about phycocyanin as it relates to cancer, is that it has what's called anti-angiogenesis properties. I know that's a mouthful, but basically what it means is that when there are cancers or tumors, they find a way to literally hijack the blood vessels to reroute them to feed the cancer or the tumor. And there are different nutrients that will stop that process. Cause that process where they hijack the blood vessels is called angiogenesis. And so something that's anti angiogenesis stops that process. And this pigment called phycocyanin has been proven to be able to do that. Well, if you have a blood cancer, obviously it's not going to help because there's no cancer or tumor. Everything else, it's, it's very powerful. So, um, but aside from that, spirulina is generally known as an energizing algae, um, and it has the highest concentration of protein as you mentioned in the world. Speaker 3: (17:39) Now, this is why in 1974 the United nations had a global conference on spirulina and, and endorsed it and it, and still does as the answer to world hunger because it has three times the amount of protein in it that animal protein. And of course it's a crop that you can grow. So it still is the answer to world hunger. And if I can get my company growing and we get to be as big as I want it to be like, believe me, that will be one of the things that I try to help accomplish in my lifetime is to teach other people in other lands to grow this, to feed their, you know, their countries and yeah, people. But so, so the reason why spirulina is so energizing, number one is it has all this protein and the proteins already in amino acid form, which means your body as an athlete, you know this, you have your, you already doesn't have to break down the protein to get access to it. Speaker 3: (18:34) And what's even cooler is that, and most people don't know this, but spirulina is technically a bacteria. It does not have a cellulous wall. So the reason why this is important, particularly for athletes is because again, there's nothing for your body to break down to get access to the protein and the other Koreans. So it's absorbed virtually instantly. And uh, so normally do you get all the aminos? It's loaded with B vitamins, which convert the glucose into energy. And it also has the highest concentration of iron in the world. Iron carries oxygen in your blood. It helps my body. I know. It helps your body. Yeah. Oh yeah. It's pretty cool. I can, I can go even geekier on the oxygen today cause I've got, you know, like a lot of athletes have anemia, like problems since runners, amino acids are a part of, you know, the, the things that I get my all my athletes on so that they can get access to it. Speaker 3: (19:32) So anything that, um, and, and since listening to you on, um, our mutual friend boomer, uh, Edison's podcasts, I've had my husband now who's training for an ultra marathon in four weeks time. I'm tasting this Berliner and his regime as it was for us, for his training, um, and finding fantastic results. And I've never, I never made the connection before between, okay. You know, I knew about spirulina, I knew the basics, but I didn't understand it could actually be the perfect food for endurance athletes. It is the perfect, we in fact field, so many Olympic athletes during the associate winter Olympics that I sent two of my team over to Sochi and because I'm Canadian and we were getting known by the Canadian Olympic teams, we had full access to the Canadian Olympic village and I had a previous Olympic athlete on my U S team here. And so we got complete access to the us Olympic village as well. So it was pretty, it was pretty cool. Speaker 3: (20:32) Uh, athletes who competed in that winter Olympics were metaled and they publicly, uh, I have declared, you know, the, you know, congratulate us for helping them get there. So it was, it was a pretty low, yeah, we interested to tastes of it more, uh, with your products and the, um, in the, in the super long distance. And endurance's which is my background and we train a lot of experts in that area. So how would, what sort of results you could get if you were doing like mega long distances? Cause uh, digestive issues are a major problem for ultra endurance athletes like GI pain. Um, jeez, because all your bloods in your muscles of course, when that's right in your yeah, it's not doing well as far as, so the big problem comes in, how do you get enough energy in while you're running for two days, three days, whatever the rice is. Speaker 3: (21:24) Um, and this could be a perfect solution for a whole, well, April, it is the perfect solution. And in fact, I used to speak at triathlon clubs about this and they used to at first nail me because they said, well, I don't believe how anything with one calorie per tablet can give me energy. So I had to do the deep dive in the science and I have all the answers. Why not only that, I have anecdotal evidence because I can give you a list of, you know, 20 ultra runners who were run a hundred miles only on our algae and water. That's it. Nothing else. Wow. And to your point about the, um, anemia, um, I've learned for a long time, there's something called the foot strike. There's something about when the athlete's foot hits of Ash halt, it causes the iron to dissipate. And it's a real problem for, for Addie. Speaker 3: (22:18) Yeah. Yeah. That's Brenner's, Vimeo, yadda. Well, this is my answer. I'm really excited because I have to have constant, um, like iron infusions. Um, Oh, Oh, Oh. And my, my, and I'm not alone in this problem. There are a lot of female athletes especially, um, who are always at the bottom means, and of course their performances in and P because you can't carry enough blood and enough oxygen and, okay. Well we'll, we'll get you hooked up with some our cause. So, so the, uh, so the spirulina, you also have to be sure you take enough of it. We'd say we recommend 30 tablets for someone who's going on a run. Oh wow. Okay. So you know, if you only take three or four or you can, if you're just a mild runner, you know, he can take three, four. But if you're going to do a, you know, more than three or four miles, we suggest the full 30 tablets and there is never, this is why the athletes love it. Speaker 3: (23:11) Not only do they get the energy, it's steady energy. It's not a rush. It's not a crash. It's just steady. It's not just physical, it's mental. Because you also know as you fatigue, the first thing that goes is your focus, but you never get stomach distress because it literally gets absorbed into your bloodstream before it hits your, your GI track. It's that because there's no, you know, selling as well. Yeah. Yeah. The protein is already in aminos and all the other, um, the iron and the B vitamins and they make it three. Everything is attached to the amino. Everything just gets absorbed so quickly. It's, it's, um, it's amazing. So it's also got a mega three. So does it have B12 or is the B12 missing? Yes, it does have. B12. Um, and I'm, I have to admit, I'm on the fence. I don't promote the B12 because I honestly don't know whether it's functioning as a B12, but it's there. Speaker 3: (24:07) Cause we do the, you know, the lab test and it does have a mega three, so it's a sustainable source of, of Omega three. And it's also vegan of course. excuse me. So, uh, it's, uh, it has things like boron, which helped with your, your, uh, mental focus in the telomeres, um, and helps with coordination. So there's, I have a document I'll send you that itemizes about 20 different reasons why spirulina is the perfect fuel in every single possible way. Um, so it's, yeah, it's, it's, it's super excited to try have half of our athletes and I've always seen what being like my husband obviously not dosing him up enough. I think I need to get more. Yeah. Well and, and you just, um, and so when you go on the long runs and then every, you know, hour, a couple hours, when you're starting to feel a little fatigued, take another 10 or 15 you'll, it's like anything, you kind of have to play around with it and see what works for your body. Speaker 3: (25:05) But in general, spirulina is that energizing algae helps with your physical energy, your mental focus. It satisfies hunger. So we have a lot of people who are biohackers keto, paleo who use it for intermittent fasting because it is ketogenic. It does not decrease your ketones or both. We've had a test that I was just at a Quito conference where I, I saw boomer, uh, and, and so it's very in embrace it also a lot of people when they're on the keto diet or they're not eating many greens cause they don't want the carbs. Uh, so this answers your solution cause there's zero carbs but it has the highest concentration of chlorophyll in the world, but you need to maintain your health. So it's truly the perfect food. And, um, as I say, spirulina, I will say it doesn't taste very good. So people either swallow it or put it into a smoothie. So that's your best way to, it's totally chewable. I, I do eat mine, but you know, it's my company and it's sort of like my dropped, so to sneak. So don't feel we, in fact, we have these sassy stickers that we send, we give out at particular, you know, some only select events, but then the sticker says it's okay to swallow. Speaker 3: (26:25) We have a sense of humor, right. Probably not as bad as much nutrients as both of those things. Well, you know, there is so much nutrition that um, even if you take five a day, it's probably more nutrition than your body is getting an entire week. It's that crazy. Yeah. So between protein and the 40 vitamins and minerals and all the B vitamins and the Omega threes, it's off the charts, the antioxidants and we, it really, it's off. The antioxidants was an interesting one. So it helps. So it can help your LDL your cholesterol, LDL and your triglyceride profile too, can't it? Yes. Yes. oxidation. I understand. So it can help reduce the oxidation effect that, yeah. Yep. Absolutely. And while we've had people who, who have the first normal blood pressure reading after even two days of taking the spirulina, it's that fast. Yeah. Yeah. It's pretty, Oh, all drug free. Speaker 3: (27:23) Noninvasive, just nutrient dense mother nature at her best. It's, it's pretty cool. Ready, simple answer. Like, so some of them were like a brain injury, like my mother. Um, what sort of like dosages would you say for here? Like if I had not been giving her enough? Probably. Um, and is it safe to go to a higher amount because it is only a food, isn't it? Yes, it, I tell people, well, you can't, you can't overdose on salad. Um, so we sell single servings of her of 30 tablets. And originally we were telling everybody to take 30 tablets a day or 30 tablets before a workout. Um, that's because we were working initially with elite athletes and that's how many it took for them to feel the improvements. But now we're really working with a lot of consumers who are very nutrient deprived. So any small amount will will make a difference. So we're suggesting three or four or five a day, but you know, feel free to take 30. And I personally have about a hundred a day and half for the last eight years. So, so there's no bloody good. Speaker 3: (28:28) You would be surprised how old I am. Um, so for my age, I do look very young. I was in LA recently and I took a sub, a train, a rapid train. I was in a suburb and taking the train to, into LA and um, seniors could ride for 35 cents and I qualified as a senior. I'm a senior now. Why? To go just and, and I'm very much like into the, like I'm, I'm, I'm getting old too. I'm 51 at the moment and I'm like, I want to age like a superstar. I don't want to give the normal aging things. I'm like, Oh no, it's not. I'm not, I'm not, I'm not aging gracefully and nor should you and I'm way over, I'm way over that. So, uh, so obviously you're doing something right. So blue, green algae. Speaker 3: (29:28) So chlorella. So, and also by the way, fear Lena was the first life on earth almost 4 billion years ago. Chlorella developed about a billion years afterwards. And it does belong to the plant kingdom, although technically it is not a plant. It's a sea vegetable because it doesn't have any phytates or um, any of the anti-nutrients that you know, that, um, can cause some problems with people. So it's, it's its own little category. So chlorella, unlike spirulina, does not give you energy, but what it does is it build your immune system and pulls out toxins. So it helps you cover from anything. It helps you recover from any kind of illness. In fact, it prevents them. Uh, and it does this in a number of ways. First of all, it has the highest concentration of chlorophyll in the world. Remember, that's what got my sister her. The oncologist advised her to change her diet to an alkaline one because of the chlorophyll which builds your immune system. Speaker 3: (30:27) Chlorophyll is a fat-based pigment. And why that's important is because your health starts at the cellular level. So it's the cell walls and the mitochondria. Now if the cell walls are not healthy and they need healthy fats to be healthy, um, that causes, um, disruption in your homeostasis and nutrients can't get in and toxins can't get out. So chlorophyll, you know that people always say how greens are cleansing. Well, this is what's cleansing about it. It's the chlorophyll that heals the cell walls. So did you can get in and toxins can get out and at the toxins. And if neither of that is happening, your mitochondria is suffer, your ATP is lower. You start to get rogue cells that don't communicate that which lead to cancer cells and it's a downward spiral from there. So chlorophyll is very important to maintaining your health. And there is nothing in the world that has more chlorophyll than chlorella. Speaker 3: (31:22) It even has 25 times more chlorophyll than liquid chlorophyll because liquid chlorophyll is made from alfalfa sprouts. It has a, I think 200 times more chlorophyll in spinach, a thousand times more than you know, cabbage. And I have this all on a chart from the Linus Pauling Institute showing all the different concentrations. Um, so, so chlorophyll very, very important. But in chlorella. Second, chlorella has never, I said spirulina has no celly. This wall with chlorella has the hardest in the entire plant. Kingdom is that hard cell wall that attaches to toxins and pulls them out. So oppose that led mercury. Aluminum athletes use it after any kind of sport because it pulls out lactic acid so your muscles aren't sore the next day. Um, people use it for, um, after drinking wine, beer or anything because it attaches to the alcohol. Well, the, the chemicals, the toxins that are released by the alcohol and pulls them out. Speaker 3: (32:21) So you are sober in an hour and a half and you never have a hangover. Seriously. I know. It's crazy. Good old chlorella. So it pulls out toxins. We have customers who use it to pull out excess chemotherapy after their treatments. You need to wait two days after your treatment because it will identify the chemotherapy as a toxin. And we want you to be sure to get your treatment and then pull it out. But they used it at a Chernobyl Hiroshima Fukushima, because in Asia, they all know that chlorella is the only thing that pulls out radiation. So in fact, after the Fukushima disaster seven years ago, the entire Asian supply of chlorella was bought up and there was nothing available for two months because it takes a month, bro and a month to dry and all that sort of stuff. So, um, so it's been documented, um, all around the world for pulling out toxins. Speaker 3: (33:15) We work with, um, a biological dentist who use it to, um, when they pull up, um, AMA grams because of course it's mercury and they use it for themselves as well as their patients. Cause of course they're inhaling the fumes from the feet. Wow. Chlorella also has the highest concentration of RNA and DNA in the world, which is important as you age because this will help your, your own RNA DNA to grow back healthier. It has something called chlorella growth factor, which speeds up the growth of yourselves. So if you injure yourself or have surgery that combined with the RNA and DNA and all the other stuff, you heal literally half the time. It's unbelievable. It's really unbelievable. Chlorella also has the daily requirement of a vitamin called vitamin K too. Now, listeners aren't familiar with K two. It's a very important vitamin only discovered 25 years ago. Speaker 3: (34:08) Um, they attribute a lot of heart, a heart disease and Alzheimer's to too much calcium in your blood vessels or your brain wrinkles in your skin from too much calcium. Um, uh, kidney stones. How much calcium, cause we're all taking calcium and we're all taking of calcium going into the softest. It's absorbed in the wrong places. Zorba in your bones. So what's happening is gathering in your soft tissue like your blood vessels, your brains and only K2 will activate the two proteins that move it out of soft tissue and put it into your bones. So at the same time, it prevents osteoporosis, which is a classic problem for, for women. Um, and the only places you can get K2 from naturally from food is grass fed animal protein. I know you guys have a lot of grass fed animals in New Zealand. Um, there's a disc called natto, which is a Japanese dish, which is really slimy and nobody likes to eat it. Speaker 3: (35:06) But I found out I did lab test. It's also in the algae, there's twice as much in the chlorella as there is in the spirulina. So it has your daily requirement of K2 in the chlorella. I mentioned this because, Oh, in general, I want people to understand that spirulina is an energizing algae and chlorella is a wellness and health and detox algae. It's a wellness LG. So if you want to recover from anything or prevent any illness, chlorella is your answer. Um, and spirulina will always give you energy and help keep you focus. So there's two of them. Yeah, I didn't understand that distinction. And I mean I've hooked into the, the um, vitamin D Kate in K2 and vitamin a, um, combination to get the calcium out of the soft tissues and then to the bones where it shouldn't be. Yeah. I didn't realize that the K2 was incorrect. Speaker 3: (35:59) So that's a real, yes. Well, I think I'm the only one that I think I'm the only one that knows that as I'm this closet researcher and I'll be, cause I need to know the answers. I need to know why this works so well because nobody else has explained algae the way that I explained it. And I could only, as you know, you only become um, you become a good teacher when you have dug deep into complex matters and then you, you find a way to simplify them for people. So I was, I needed to go through the complexity and now, I mean simplify them for people so they don't have to, but I have the research in case they want the backstory so they know that it's all legitimate and documented and all that sort of stuff. So I'm pretty amazing. And so in people, when people ask me when to take the algae, well you could take either of them alone, together with food instead of food morning, noon, night. Speaker 3: (36:57) However, in most cases people want energy in the morning and during the day, maybe before a workout, before an important meeting or a school or whatever. So take your spirit, you know, whenever you want energy and take your chlorella at anytime you want to eat it. Uh, but certainly at nighttime, because if you've done a workout, it will pull up the lactic acid. If you've had any wine or cocktails, they'll pull the alcohol out. Um, it helps your, your body goes through detox cycle when you sleep anyways. So this Patil is facilitates the detox. Speaking of which, uh, about the brain health. You know, when you're sleeping, your brain has a lymphatic system of its own. What? And so the important, one of the many important reasons for getting a deep sleep is it will not activate. And unless you're in that, I think Delta, whatever, again, number one sleep pattern. Speaker 3: (37:49) So, so it washes your brain. And so while it's cleaning out these talks as it's pulling out things like aluminum that caused things like Alzheimer's. So if you have the chlorella in your system while you're sleeping, it will facilitate that cleansing process, not only of your body, but of your brain. I mean it's going to happen anyways. But the true, you know, street washing, if you want to say of your brain occurs when you're sleeping, yes. Go. So it's important to have the chlorella when you're sleeping. I think every single person in the world should be taking chlorella every single day because, um, I was reading, there's something like 280 chemicals in America that have been released since world war II and about 200 of them, of the 200 have been tested. So there's, we're surrounded in our, in our air, in our clothing, and you've got to get those things out, uh, and were there also buried in ourselves. Speaker 3: (38:42) So, um, until you get rid of them, they're just going to cause silent damage and inflammation. So it's in all of us is adding to the aging, you know, we, we, we have in this society, we have this belief that aging is inevitable, but you know, like there's so many aspects to it. And if we tackle them one by one, I'm sure you know, if you're a divest Bree fan or not, I don't know. But yeah, not attacking all the different pillars of aging and you know, one of them being like this sort of stuff, getting into this stuff, getting the right nutrients and the right amounts at the right times and understanding we don't have to age like how our grandparents aged or even our parents age, you know, we've got a chance at it in this day and age that we can change our, uh, you know, the time that we are going to be healthy for and the time that we going to live for. Speaker 3: (39:33) And you and I being, you know, North of, uh, 40, both have a vested interest in making this crackly. Yeah. Well, um, the other good thing about chlorella is it actually tastes pretty good. So, um, particularly if you put a little sea salt on it or eat it with the best is if you eat it with macadamia nuts, which is great because macadamia nuts are loved by the keto community. And when you eat macadamia nuts and chlorella are at least ours, it tastes like you're eating potato chips. I swear to God, it is unbelievable. And so if you can learn to like my tastes pretty good with almonds as well, or banana chips or coconut chips or whatever, but the macadamia and the chlorella and a little bit of sea salt is the magic just snack guys. And not only is it a healthy snack, it's truly a healing snack. Speaker 3: (40:27) You can be pulling out toxins and you can be building your RNA and DNA and you can be cleansing yourselves at the same time. I mean it's, that's why I call it efficient nutrition. It can do all of these things so effectively in such small quantities like nothing else in the world. So it's pretty funny. I'm now starting to see why you are so passionate about, Oh, I know with all that responsibility to share this. So funny. You know like you, you with your sister starting off of the studio. I've been on a journey with my mom and ma and my own health as well. And you just like, you get the answers and this is why I do this podcast and you're like, I want to share this one. Everybody knows this. I go like dog. And so you like this, what we try to give your knowledge to, to people and to share it and, and you just can't have a big enough impact fast enough. Speaker 3: (41:20) I know, you know. Well, I'm so glad you know that podcasts have developed because people like you, um, have an audience that is eager to learn. I'm eager to, I'm eager to educate, but you know, the average person on the street doesn't want to learn. They want to go home and eat their crappy food and watch TV. You know, I don't even know. I haven't had a TV in 10 years. And it's like, why would you watch television when you can learn about the science of things that are going to change people's lives? I mean, seriously. Here may, I'm sitting on the plane in between conferences and I'm either listening to a recording from some scientific lecture or, or I'm, uh, reading something and every moment is filled with stuffing things in my brain. And sometimes it gets to the point where I have to actually stop and go, no, I am going to just watch a movie or something because the brain fried. But I'm like, uh, time is short and I've got so much to cram in there. Keeps popping out the other side. I know that, right. Speaker 3: (42:25) Well that is shining in that. And I'm so grateful to folks like you and also other vendors who are trying their best to get products to the community that wants to preserve their health or, or encourage their families to preserve their health. Because we're so surrounded with sugar and carbs and toxins and, uh, we have to be proactive too and take charge of our lives because nobody else is gonna do it for us. And ICP, all the people with walkers. And I'm thinking, that's not going to be me. So, yeah. And, and, and, and that's, we've, we've lived, we've grown up in a world where you were told, the doctor knows everything you're like of doctor is God and what they say goes in and, and this nothing, nothing. He gets doctors. Um, but we cannot give up a responsibility for our own health to somebody else because that busy, they've got a hundreds of patients, they've got 10 minutes to see you. Speaker 3: (43:23) They are definitely influenced by the pharmaceutical companies. You cannot rely on that as being the only place that you get your information to ask to be responsible. And we live in a day and age where we can be responsible, we can go, we can't access the studies we can. And not everyone's a science news like we are. Um, but you can still find some really good information even on a surface level. Um, and this is why it's important that people take ownership of their own health in ways we even eat better, get connected with nature, you know, understand what these rhythms in our bodies so that we can optimize it. Well, it's a, it's a great time because, um, uh, you know, I'm also a Reiki healer and I've just, I've been interested in nature all my life and, and it's, and I do yoga and I also do high intensity workouts and it's not woo woo. Speaker 3: (44:15) Like, it's just, you start to understand that we're all connected and if you treat your body, uh, holistically and the environment holistically, you will just feel better and you'll be more loving and you'll just, everything will work better. So anyways, I truly believe algae is part of that solution. Also from an environmental perspective because you know there are a lot of the oceans are being overfished for their fish oil. The algae. Where do you think the fish get the Omega three from? They get it from algae. They only can, yeah, that's where it comes from. So go to the bottom, the original source of the mega three, get it from the algae yourself. By the way, almost all um, fish oil goes rancid in the PR and the production basis three a day and the Omega three and algae never goes rancid. Speaking of which, our bags, we have to put an expiry date on it. Speaker 3: (45:07) So it's usually two or three years out, which is pretty long and its own right. But technically it never goes bad cause it's just a dried vegetable. And you could keep this for 10 years and open it up and still be fine. Absolutely fine. So mom, and that's because algae is a unique, um, as I said, it's not really a plant. Um, I read recently a group from national geographic went up to the Antarctic and they took a chunk of ice that was carbon dated to almost 4 billion years old. And they took it back lab. Yeah. And they, some of it in a Petri dish cause they saw some algae was attached to the ice and they, and they put on it and the LG started growing like over 300 years old and starts growing again because LG never dies. It just goes dormant. Isn't that crazy? It's amazing. So if we ate the LG thin, perhaps we won't ever die. It would be great to have people taking it because I'm going to live forever. So I need friends who are going to be with me, take my allergies. I'll have someone to hang out with. Speaker 3: (46:11) You got to have that attitude at least. So we can't lie. We can, we can do me and Dave Asprey will be the last one standing and stuff. And with the chlorella, I, um, I remember you saying on boomers podcast that it does have a hard cellular wall. So the way that it's broken down that cellular wall so that you can digest it as a human, um, has implications from where you should get your core hours. Yes. Well, thank you for mentioning that. So I, um, first of all, the whole, um, LG industry has started with chlorella in Japan and there's a company called sun chlorella that started this all but 50 years ago. And I'm very grateful to them because it took them 10 years to figure out how to grow chlorella for mass consumption. And they, and they, that they're the ones that found out that you had to crack the cell wall because it is so hard. Speaker 3: (47:06) Um, and if it wasn't cracked, your body would not be able to absorb the nutrients. So, uh, it still will pull out toxins, but you won't get any of the nutrients. So they developed and patented a technique called dynamo, which, um, virtually the entire industry uses, uh, chlorella industry because of course, spirulina has no cell wall. Um, and they, they tumble the chlorella with glass beads. Now what happens is the glass heats up and there was always concerned that led from the glass leaked into the chlorella and they always declined and said, no, that didn't happen. Didn't happen. But, um, about 10 years ago, just when I was starting the company, the state of California tested their chlorella and did find it had excess amounts of lead in it. So they said, well, you can either stop selling here or put a warning on your package, which is what they did. Speaker 3: (47:55) So by sun, chlorella and America, you'll see a warning on the package. But the bigger problem is it's not just them that uses this technique. It's virtually an entire chlorella industry. So when I started the company 10 years ago, I, I heard that this was a potential problem. And I said, there's got to be another way to crack the Corolla. We've got to find some, but some other way. And there was a new technique that had just come out and that's what we use. It's um, you pass the chlorella through a sound chamber and it's the vibrations that crack LA chlorella. It's very similar to how an opera singers voice can crack a class. So it's the vibrations that are cracking the cell wall. I told this to somebody recently and they said, Oh well your, your chlorella has good vibrations. Yes. Yeah, we're all, we're all buy, buy, buy, buy, buy bations cause I'm also a regular so I owe all about energy and I if you haven't, if your listeners are not familiar with dr Joe Dispenza, um, yeah, yeah. I would encourage you, cause DePaulo him as well is incredible. And we sent him some product actually recently. My dream is to have our stuff at his seminars. I hope to go to one soon. He's, he's, he is, he's unbelievable. Unbelievable. He, he has between him and algae, I think we can, we, we have a future, we have a future and maybe add in a couple of others. Like I'm Dr. Bruce Lipton and divest and yeah. Speaker 3: (49:30) Yeah. Oh man, those guys, I, I'm so grateful to them. I've been reading their books for 20 years and I'm now getting to learn even more. And it all makes sense when you start to read about these different techniques and what everyone's doing. It all starts to make sense. So, and this is an exciting age to live in and I, we're getting off track, but the science is catching up with the Woodward community community where it was considered, you know, these, some of these things were considered like Reiki and like other things. Then it was a bit off the beaten track and no science. And now the science is actually proving a lot of the Eastern rights and things and you know, Chinese medicine, Ayurveda, medicine, um, course, you know, acupuncture, all of those things. And now I've got scientific backing that they are actually, um, and this is a really interesting convergence now and that's what I loved about Dr. Bruce Lipton's work toe was he actually managed as a, as a molecular biologist to connect the spiritual world. Speaker 3: (50:30) Even with the cellular bio, you know, biology and epigenetics. It was a visit and sign book there. The biology of life. I love that, that book. Um, and to see it all coming together. And I think as we get into quantum physics and things that are coming up down the road, I think, wow, you know, there's into the quantum realm, it's going to probe. A lot of these things have real value in real science behind it. Well, and as a small segue, that's one of many reasons why I'm in love with algae. Cause I tell people, Hey, before algae earth was just water and gas, there was not anything living on earth 4 billion years ago. Now I don't know why spirulina showed up, but it did. It's a single cell organism. And after, and it releases, oxygen was growing. So after a billion years, it released enough oxygen that other life forms could, could grow, which brought chlorella, which then brought more oxygen to earth, which allowed more life forms. Speaker 3: (51:31) And then eventually we had life in the ocean. And then we had terrestrial life. And then the old, only 800 million years ago did life. Humans show up. But there's gotta be, I think there's something mystical about allergy because it was the first single cell life on earth. Um, and it's still here and it's, you know, they would prove that it's got something about it. It doesn't die. It doesn't, you know, it's, it's been around a long time. They might be something more to it even then than the size of it. Right, right. So I, I'm Kiffin I know you're, you're, you're extremely tired and busy. Um, I'm gonna wrap it up there in a moment, but I, I just wanted to talk about where people can get your product and make sure that they're getting a good quality supplements. And, um, Catherine's been doing this way obviously for a very long time. Speaker 3: (52:24) A new company is energy buts.com. Um, and so anybody who's in America, Canada, we're asked you ship to, or we don't ship internationally, although ironically, we stopped shipping to New Zealand and Australia and we have a, um, a distributor who has a lovely couple, uh, Chris and Fria, they have a website called, uh, eat clean, live dirty.com. Dot. A U and they sell our products through their website, the eat clean live durney.com dot. A U. But if you buy, if you live anywhere other than a event that's usable and for Australia, you can buy from our website energy bits.com and we ship internationally into Canada, obviously throughout the U S uh, and when you shop on our website and use the discount code, Lisa L I S a could be uppercase or lowercase, it doesn't matter. Then you get 20% off your purchase and it works on everything all the time. But that's only on our website. Not that you need energy, but unfortunately Kiwis and Aussies, you have to just support the um, uh, eight clean lifts, dirty a website and you don't get the discount. But if you do, if you live in the States or Canada or anywhere else, you can get a 20% discount. So that's a really, really con thing. Thank you very much Catherine for that. Speaker 3: (53:52) And I'll, and it's very concentrated, so it's very high quality. If you also live in the United States, you can purchase from Amazon. We sell everything on Amazon, no discount codes work. And also on Amazon, we sell little pouches that have 30 tablets. On our website. You can only buy large bags that have a thousand tablets or boxes that have single single servings. But on Amazon you can buy for a $4 single serving and tested out if you'd like before you met to a large bag. And um, I'd also encourage people to come and visit us on Instagram. Our handle is at energy beds. Same with Facebook, it's in it at energy bits, um, or Twitter. And if you come to our website, you'll see we have two brands of spirulina. One is called energy beds, but we have a second brand of spirulina called beauty beds because it also builds your skin and hair health. Speaker 3: (54:41) And we wanted something that would be appropriate for spas and a little bit more girly, but it's exactly the same product, just different packaging. And then the chlorella we talked about, that's called recovery. That's, and then we have a fourth product called vitality bits, which is 50% spirulina, 50% chlorella in general, particularly if you're an athlete. We encourage you to buy them separately because you want to split, you know, load up on the spirulina before your workout and during your workout or run. And then you want to take the chlorella afterwards and then, or if maybe you had a little extra to drink extra chlorella or maybe you've got, you're sick and you're detoxing extra chlorella. But that way you have more control over the two different allergies cause they do completely different things in your body. That's important distinction because I didn't understand that really. Speaker 3: (55:30) So that's, that's really good. So endurance athletes, go and get your spirulina and chlorella and do it separately and have the S the spirulina before your workouts, the Corella after or in the evenings to you repeat it. So www.ENERGYbits.com I'll put the show notes. Of course you can get on my website, at least@tammany.com on the podcast, under the podcast button. We would have this all available for you. Um, and if you want to reach out to Katherine, can they reach you somewhere or just by your website? Yeah, they can. The customer carrot energy bits.com. I've written about a hundred papers on different aspects of LG white helps with different things. I'll send you a ton of stuff, Lisa, and you can put, you can post things. I'll send you a PowerPoint about widescreen for athletes. Um, yeah, like I said, we were, we were a sports nutrition product when we first started because the runners discovered us and then they told everybody else and that was that. And we'll, we'll keep spreading that word to the runners down on Stan, the sins of the world. So Katherine, thank you very much for your time today. I really appreciate it. I know you're super busy lady. Um, wonderful that we're connected. I'm sure we'll stay connected. Um, so yeah, all the best with your big mission in life to solve world hunger. And I tell people we're tiny but mighty and you will be too when you do geology. Fantastic. Speaker 1: (56:53) That's it this week for pushing the limits. Pre WW2 – Money and the incentive for war History is written by the victor – the focus is often the war itself – but not what happens behind the scene - How has war shaped the economy? – Last week went through tax changes to economy This week – want to talk about the behind scene to war – financial interests and those who carry them out Governments wage wars – the citizen fight them It is Governments which wage war with each other – Nation states, or NATO – Used to be directly – Nation v Nation– Now also indirectly – pre-cold war – nations went to war with one another – now, nations fund other countries to do it on their behalf But who else is funding the wars? Used to be the Monarchs (Governments) directly – not much in the way of banks/interconnected financial system in medieval periods – borrowed from other lords and money was gold/resources With the expansion of credit and fractal banking methods from Napoleonic period – bankers started gaining the ability to carry the monarchs (nations) through wars Two big changes here – 1) funding could come from other nations and banks 2) funding could come from money you don’t have - Source from Bankers and eventually central bankers (which fund governments war budgets) Two stages – Before central banks – Governments relied on private bankers - One prominent family which made their fortune from war – Rothschilds – there were others – but only one made a movie about themselves due to the public hating them – PR spin Patriarch – Mayer made his fortune through facilitating payments between the royals and mercenaries – Prussians in Frankfurt – Famously said: Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws! Movie - House of Rothschild movie from 1934 – 20th Century Pictures (now fox) – 3 producers funded by Rothschild made this movie – academy awards – can go watch it – few inaccuracies – but the major one is the ending True parts – that in the European wars transferring the balance of payments was dangerous – can be taken away So sent 5 sons to major financial hubs – Paris, Frankfurt, Vienna, Milan, London – payments could be made in IOUs – someone in London needs money – can issue it in that country and not have to transport from Germany Ending of the movie - Panic at waterloo – Lord wellington v napoleon after getting free from Elba – British Bonds dumped by Nathan Rothschild – create panic – bought back on the penny – movie just had the second part – him being the saviour and fighting the war with money – either way – became the richest man on earth overnight -owning most of the British Governments debtor obligations Along with Global Central Banks – Monetary institutions like the BIS and IMF – created out of necessity due to wars BIS - Swiss based Bank for International Settlements - creation in 1930 was, according to the BIS, primarily to settle reparation payments – payments imposed on Germany following the First World War without WWI – a major crisis event – there would have been no mandate for the BIS to exist. As well as settling German reparation payments, the BIS was also recognised from the outset as a forum for central bankers – the first of its kind – where they could speak candidly and direct the course of global monetary policy. Hjalmar Schacht - was Reichsbank President from 1933 to 1939 and Hitler’s finance minister, was a BIS director. tried and acquitted of war crimes following WWII. Walther Funk, a former Nazi economics minister and Reichsbank President from 1939 to 1945, was also a BIS director. Funk worked closely with Heinrich Himmler, who was chief of the SS - also pioneer of a 1940 paper called, ‘Economic Reorganisation of Europe‘, which was endorsed by the Nazi leadership and is stored in the BIS archive. the parallels between the plans of the Nazi leadership for a post-war European economy and the subsequent process of European monetary and economic integration were real‘. In other words, the objectives of post WWII internationalists mirrored those of the Nazi regime – BIS was involved in both IMF - would have been no mandate for the IMF to exist were it not for WWII - Fund was founded in 1944 (off the back of World War Two) at Brenton Woods conference - became part of what internationalists call the ‘rules based global order‘. All have expansion capacity for the lending capacity to fund ever lasting wars The thinkers of the day gave unification and one global system as a way to avoid conflicts like world wars - What these thinkers overlooked was that democratic societies have little say in wars by proxy and what the financial system wants – which is undemocratic Banks now have incentives – so democracy doesn’t do anything as banks aren’t democratic Politicians also act on the behalf of those who back them – central bankers or general bankers War Bonds – Issued by banks to fund the wars of nations – massive profits made out of these -   Example of political leaders carrying out the bidding of the bankers who owned them through personal debts - Another example - Churchill – Prime Minster for ww2 – led Britain into both World Wars with his famous ‘V’ salute Some of this information may come as a surprise – as he is revered by many people as the greatest ever Englishman – movies made about him – but I find it more interesting to read the primary sources from those who knew him and not reinterpretations in movies from Hollywood Churchill has been exposed as a puppet of bankers and served their interest before that of Britain and the millions who lost their lives Back in WW1 – he was Britain’s youngest-ever First Sea Lord – thanks to daddy’s connections - Lord Randolph Churchill he unwisely advocated an amphibious landing in Turkey (ottomans) to relieve pressure on the Western Front. A total of 500,000 British, ANZAC, French and Indian troops ultimately took part in the doomed battle of Gallipoli. Between the amphibious landing in February 1915 and their evacuation in December they suffered 50% casualties-with nothing to show for the immense human cost – stripped of command after that He clawed his way back into politics – changing parties and positions 4 times along the way but was elected Prime Minister his skills were on offer on several more occasions for the right price - known in the House of Commons as ‘The Shithouse’ from his initials WC – Now – moving on to WW2 - Quote - “The unforgivable sin of Hitler’s German was to develop a new economic system by which the international bankers were deprived of their profits” Nazi’s seized the Rothschild bank in Austria (Vienna) – Was fully aware of the history of funding both sides of the war Churchill didn’t say that the killing of millions was unforgivable – it was the depriving of his friends from their profits Well known fact back them – Churchill's family was deep in debt to the Rothschild’s – along with being family friends Lord Randolph Churchill- close friend of Nathan Rothschild - received "extensive loans" from the Rothschild's He accepted £150,000 to bring Britain into World War II for the Rothschild bankers against Germany, and to latterly drag in the USA Incentives for banks was money – previous episode on JP Morgan’s involvement with WW1 and the USA – would have lost a lot of money if Germany had won – Churchill was so well-known for this helping the bankers that at the beginning of the war, before they entered the fray, FDR told him, “if anything happens to any American ships, our first thoughts will be of you British.” Sir Anthony Blunt - The master-spy, Rothschild operative - said on record that Hitler was negotiating for peace right through the war, and sent his deputy Rudolph Hess to Britain to pursue a peace which Churchill continually refused. Rothschild’s advice to Churchill was for ‘total destruction’ Despite popular belief – Hitler never wanted to go to war with France or England – Hitler was a rabid Anglophile - and did not want war with Britain (or France) at all – Why would he let 400,000 UK and French soldiers retreat from Dunkirk? He saw the Brits as his allies – the royals were Nazi supporters after all History is fascinating - The Nazi/Soviet pact resulted in Russia and Germany splitting Poland in half, yet Churchill decided to take Britain to war with Germany and made Russia an ally – All while Stalin was carrying out his own Holocaust on a bigger scale – between 1932 and 1933 he starved/mascaraed 7m Ukrainian Christians to death – but Churchill entered into an agreement with him before the Holocaust even happened – remember – Churchill thought Hitler’s greatest sin was not allowing international bankers to make their profits – sheds new light on true motives This made no sense whatsoever to the intelligence services. Of course, the general assumption and indeed perception of ‘how the world really works,’ is that politicians always do what is right and proper for their country and its peoples, but this is far from being the case – But he was just serving the interest of the bankers – As Stalin didn’t get in the way of their profit making – even though he was doing the same things the Nazis did but 10 years earlier - Want to read something from Admiral Sir Barry Edward Domvile - was a high-ranking Royal Navy officer who was interned during the Second World War for being a Nazi sympathiser – cause he didn’t want to go to war “I had a strong suspicion that there was some mysterious power at work behind the scenes controlling the actions of the figures visibly taking part in the Government of the country. We always vaguely referred to this hidden control amongst ourselves as the Treasury … This mysterious power … which has wielded such a baneful influence in world history for many centuries. Ponder on this… on April 20th Hitler’s birthday, because his war with the usurers, asset strippers and bankers, brought Russia to threaten both Germany and England, Churchill took us into WWII, Poland was just the excuse, the same as in all the wars now. We fight them for the bankers.”  Arthur Ransome - author and expert on Russian affairs, having cultivated friendships with both Lenin and Trotsky. He was a high-ranking MI6 operative with the codename S76. Reported first-hand from Russia that Churchill was working for Rothschild interests, not Britain’s. Many British researchers have long-suspected this to be the case, and Walter Thompson, Churchill’s bodyguard, said Churchill believed himself to be more at risk of assassination for betraying his own people in Britain, than from the enemies he made abroad – that is very telling – was more afraid of his own people finding out the reason he was so adamant to go to war with Germany when most didn’t want to Ultimately, treaties and international organizations cannot ensure world peace – While there is financial interests and politicians willy to carry them out – there will be wars – Wars have shaped the face of the global economy – from taxes, to institutions (IMF) to the very stability of a country   Now that the financial interests have been explained a bit - Next Episode: Examples of proxy wars – funding both sides Talk about the US politicians and Media Reaction to the Kurds – anarcho-Communist breakaway group from Turkey Washington Post's headline describing former ISIS leader al-Baghdadi as a 'religious scholar’ – who just happened to burn people alive in cages and responsible for the death of thousand

Chances are, you’ve heard of it, but many people are still unaware of its benefits. I have been consuming chlorella and spirulina from ENERGYbits for some time now. And because I’m so amazed at the health benefits of these superfoods, I decided to invite Catharine Arnston again on the show to talk more about it. Demand for Chlorella Catharine Arnston says, first of all; chlorella is the only thing that removes radiation from your body. Chlorella is also called a chelator which eliminates any toxins whether its mercury or lead. It is recommended for chemotherapy treatments because it removes chemotherapy and radiation. Chlorella also has the highest concentration of chlorophyll and vitamin K2. Some people argue that iodine is just as sufficient. On the contrary, although iodine prevents the absorption of its toxins, it doesn’t remove things like radiation. “Because algae or spirulina and chlorella are both crops grown in freshwater. With the radiation incident in Fukushima, people there are aware of the ability of it to remove radiation. So, we had to wait for two months to get our next supply.” I know for a fact that iodine only prevents absorption within the thyroid. It’s been a common habit wherein everyone was buying iodine, but things are slowly changing. In fact, my three-year-old son likes chlorella and even calls them green crackers. “Chlorella also tastes fantastic with macadamia nuts. Because of the great fat in macadamia, and the sea salt, blend it with the flat green flavor of the chlorella, and it tastes like potato chips,” said Catharine Arnston. Spirulina Overview On the other hand, Catharine Arnston shares that the United Nations endorsed spirulina for 50 years as the answer to world hunger. This is because it has the highest concentration of protein and fortified vitamins and minerals. Catharine Arnston thinks chlorella is even more critical than spirulina due to its ability to remove toxins. But mainly, both chlorella and spirulina have significant value for our health.  ENERGYbits Catharine Arnston’s ENERGYbits company has been in the business for seven years already. She currently offers several products under the ENERGYbits, RECOVERYbits, SKINNYbits, and VITALITYbits line. Each product has a significant purpose. And Catharine Arnston assures that all her products are organic. She also has an excellent deal for Learn True Health listeners! Just type in the LTH code to avail of the 20% discount. There’s no expiry for the code so you can keep replenishing your supply. View On Supplements Catharine Arnston says that spirulina, in particular, is a food base replacement for supplements. And because there’s so much protein in spirulina, it acts as a snack and gives you energy before your workout. It can replace energy bars and energy drinks. “Spirulina is a one-stop shop for energy, focus, hunger, health, and wellness. There’s no need for calcium, magnesium, multivitamins, and fish oil,” said Catharine Arnston. Supplements are usually made from inorganic materials, and Catharine Arnston says it is similar to rocks or seashells. Organic materials are plants or things that are alive. “When you have a mineral that comes from something that’s alive, it has all the other factors and co-factors. Because these minerals are enzymatic,” said Catharine Arnston. “They just work better when they come from a source that has been alive because of the synergies.” She adds, “You will either not absorb them, or you will get to a toxicity state. And 95% of supplements are made from extracts. You’re either peeing them out, or you can reach toxic levels from fat-based vitamins.” That’s why Catharine Arnston advises it’s always better to get your nutrients from food. Algae has a thousand times more chlorophyll than greens. In fact, chlorella has two hundred times more chlorophyll than spinach.  What Is Spirulina? Catharine Arnston says spirulina, which is a blue-green algae, is technically a bacteria. It was the first plant life on earth almost four billion years ago. And the blue color of spirulina comes from a pigment called phycocyanin. “Take a few tabs of spirulina and put on a white plate with some water. Let it sit of for a few hours. You’ll see colors. That’s phycocyanin,” said Catharine Arnston. Benefits of Spirulina Catharine Arnston says spirulina can reverse cancer. It is used for hunger, energy, and focus, that’s why Catharine Arnston named it ENERGYbits. Spirulina also has the highest concentration of protein in the world. Catharine Arnston said that the Germans discovered this in 1917 and won a Nobel prize related to that. Furthermore, spirulina is loaded with B vitamins for energy, and also important for a process called methylation. “It’s a cellular process that helps your cells to grow back healthy. Spirulina is also loaded with essential fatty acids and omega 3. It also has gamma-linolenic acid, also known as omega 6 but behaves like an omega three because it’s unprocessed,” reveals Catharine Arnston. For those watching their diet, you’ll be thrilled to know that spirulina has zero carbs. Catharine Arnston says it’s vital for the keto communities. Plus, you feel fresh and alert! “We’re working for more professional sports communities because we do all these lab tests to prove that they’re safe. They have no banned substances, and the nutrient profile is exactly what we say it is and its toxin-free,” Catharine Arnston said. ENERGYbits Company Catharine Arnston shares that she started the company because her youngest sister developed breast cancer up in Canada. Her oncologist advised her sister to change her diet to an alkaline diet. This way, it would help with her healing. Fast forward ten years later, Catharine Arnston’s is now cancer-free, and ENERGYbits has helped a lot of people as well. “We grow algae in freshwater tanks in Taiwan. Ninety-nine percent is grown in Asia, India, China, Japan, and a little in Hawaii,” narrates Catharine Arnston. “Taiwan is known to have the highest quality algae and strictest controls.” She adds, “We use fresh water from mountain spring, and it’s triple-filtered. The algae are tested every day for purity. It is tested again at a third-party lab in the United States to make sure there are no toxins and pesticides.” Importance Of Chlorophyll Catharine Arnston said algae is a single-cell organism that converts sunshine like any other plant. That’s why her company doesn’t use high heat to preserve the enzymes. “So we’re very proud that our algae are considered a raw food. It’s always better to get your nutrients from food,” said Catharine Arnston. She adds, “There’s chlorophyll in spirulina. And there’s a study proving that when you take chlorophyll, you are exposing yourself to sunlight. When that happens, you generate energy in the same way as you would from ketones. We’re not that different from plants after all. Furthermore, chlorophyll has identical properties as red blood cells.” Catharine Arnston also explains that chlorophyll is a fat-based pigment or antioxidant. It is also essential for your cell walls. “Vitamin A and vitamin D are fat-based. All of those fat-based vitamins will help heal the cell wall. If cell wall isn’t healthy with proper fat, nutrients cannot get in, and toxins can’t get out,” explains Catharine Arnston. She adds, “It’s quite different from that other pigment in spirulina which is called phycocyanin. That’s a water-based pigment. It affects your plasma and your blood. Fat-based vitamins and things like chlorophyll are for the cell wall. The water-based ones are for your blood and plasma.” Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt For those who have listened to my past episodes, you may recall my previous interview with Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt. Going to medical school in Germany gave Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt an in-depth knowledge of acupuncture and with homeopathy. Because of this, he can treat people with a more Holistic approach. He has been 100% reversing autism and treats Lyme disease as well. I’m happy to report that Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt gets an excellent result with children. That’s because he puts them on a natural program to detoxify the body. The first thing Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt does to his patients is getting them on chlorella. Because ultimately, chlorella pulls out or chelates those heavy metals from the body, brain, and nervous system. I also learned from Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt that when you only eat a few pieces of chlorella, it simulates heavy metals to come out of your tissue. But ultimately, there is not enough chlorella to bind to it. So, therefore, if you’re going to eat chlorella every day, consuming 20 to 30 pieces in one sitting is adequate. That amount is enough to bind to the heavy metals and releases toxins out of your body through the liver and kidney. What Is Chlorella? According to Catharine Arnston, chlorella is a wellness algae. It helps you recover your health or prevents you from getting sick. Which is why she named her product RECOVERYbits. “The cleansing component comes from the chlorophyll which is also in spirulina. But it is twice as much in the chlorella. Chlorophyll cleans those windows on those cell walls so nutrients get in and toxins get out,” said Catharine Arnston. Catharine Arnston also explains that as far as the detox capability of chlorella is concerned, it is different from spirulina. Spirulina is not a chelator. You can get cleansing benefits from it, but it cannot pull out heavy toxins as chlorella does.  How Chlorella Is Grown Chlorella is the fastest growing plant in the world. Catharine Arnston says it quadruples in size every 24 hrs. It blooms out circularly, so the tanks that the chlorella are raised in are round. Even the packaging for chlorella has a science behind it. Catharine Arnston reveals that all packaging bags are UV tested. This way, sunlight can’t get in.  Why? Because the sunlight will pull the chlorophyll out of the algae and cause deterioration in nutrients. Sun Chlorella Catharine Arnston shares that Sun Chlorella is considered “granddaddy” of chlorella. They patented a technique to physically tumble the chlorella after it was grown in glass beads. Through this technique, the friction of the glass beads with the chlorella would physically crack the chlorella. Hence, 99% of all chlorella that’s grown around the world uses Sun Chlorella’s technique. “I heard that there could be some lead that leaks into the chlorella. So I had to find another technique, and we did. It’s new, modern, and more expensive,” reveals Catharine Arnston. “And that’s what we use to crack our chlorella. We pass chlorella into a sound chamber, and it’s the vibrations that crack the chlorella. There are no glass, no heat, and no lead.” Catharine Arnston also says that the State of California also heard about the alleged lead leak. So, they did a test and did indeed, find that lead levels exceeded what was acceptable. Incidentally, this may also cause birth defects and brain disorders. “I started this company to help people be healthy. And I just wanted to help my sister. That’s all I wanted to do, and I just kept going,” said Catharine Arnston. Want to learn more about chlorella and spirulina? Discovering Algae Catharine Arnston is Canadian but currently lives in the United States. She discovered the benefits of algae when her younger sister was diagnosed with breast cancer ten years ago. Upon the advice of her sister’s oncologist, Catharine Arnston’s sister had to change to an alkaline diet to help her healing. So her diet was primarily green tea, green vegetables and had to eliminate acidic foods. Fast forward a decade later, Catharine Arnston’s sister celebrated ten years free of cancer this year. This whole experience made Catharine Arnston decide to give up her corporate career of 25 years to help people. Making A Difference Catharine Arnston eventually pursued further studies at the Institute For Integrative Nutrition. After graduation, she put up a nutrition counseling company wherein she offered a curriculum teaching people how to eat healthy greens. Catharine Arnston also gave free workshops for corporations and hospitals for almost a year, trying to convince people to eat more greens. Catharine Arnston primary goal was to find a hassle-free way for people to digest more greens. During her research in 2010, she suddenly thought of algae tablets. Surveys showed that her friends were willing to take algae tablets, so the venture looked very promising.  Origin Of Algae According to Catharine Arnston, algae has been used for hundreds of years. Documented for approximately the past 50 years, it is the most studied food in the world and has been known to improve health aspects of mental acuity and athletic performance. “Algae is the very first plant life on earth three and a half billion years ago and they have fossils to prove it. It has been around three or four years longer than we have,” said Catharine Arnston. “So there’s got to be something special about something on earth that has existed four times longer than we have. That’s why I feel blessed to be to one to explain to people the importance of algae.” Quality Of Products The algae that Catharine Arnston uses for her products is grown in Taiwan. Taiwan is world-renowned to have the highest quality algae and the highest quality controls in place because it is such a significant crop. All the other algae are grown in Japan, China, India, and a small amount in Hawaii. Apparently, algae have different attributes, flavors, and components like wine. Catharine Arnston says that the water they use for their products comes from a mountain. She also assures that their water is very clean since it is triple-filtered. “The company that is growing algae for us has been growing algae for 50 years. They have a GMP certification, an ISO 9000 certification, and is certified organic,” said Catharine Arnston. “The company has an Asian certification. Getting U.S. certification is complicated because it is not in America. We also have a 3rd party FDA lab here in the United States, where we test every batch.” Catharine Arnston proudly adds that they are by far, the only algae in America that are endorsed by doctors. Laboratory tests that show there is no metal and pesticides in Catharine Arnston’s ENERGYbits products. They are also the only company wherein the Chlorella products contain no lead. Competitive Industry Catharine Arnston attests that algae products are a multi-billion dollar industry in Asia. She says it is almost as big as the beef industry in the United States. But in making algae products mainstream, people have misconceptions about what algae are. “Nobody knows about it because it is food. It’s no different than broccoli. Biotech and pharma companies were interested in promoting algae because there’s no patent. You can’t patent broccoli or algae because it is just a vegetable,” said Catharine Arnston. Catharine Arnston further reveals that the companies selling algae in the United States tend to be just the same as the companies selling algae in Asia. Apparently, only the packaging is different. “Most of the product comes from China, and there’s insufficient quality control. So nobody knew for sure what they’re putting in their bodies. And to think they’re supposed to be taking this to improve their health,” Catharine Arnston said.  She adds,”Most chlorella products contain lead but not ours. There’s great uncertainty on who to trust. I had to be sure ours is the highest quality. So I started this journey after helping my sister.” Catharine Arnston also shares that the statistics of cancer and heart disease show that 98% of chronic illnesses are lifestyle and diet-related. That is why she is trying to help people understand how to be healthy, using the gifts from Mother Nature. Catharine Arnston’s goal is also to teach people how to differentiate the different kinds of algae, which ones are good for us and which algae to use for different purposes. Spirulina Algae There are about 15 strains of algae, and it is part of the seaweed family. But seaweed is grown in the ocean and does not have the same nutrients. In a category called algae, the only two that are produced as crops are spirulina and chlorella. Spirulina is known as the earth’s very first plant life. It is a blue-green algae wherein the blue color comes from a pigment called phycocyanin. “The blue pigment has incredible healing properties. One of which is that it stops cancer. It stops the growth of blood vessels to tumors or cancers and is called anti-angiogenesis,” explains Catharine Arnston. “Angiogenesis is when blood vessels are grown to support a tumor or cancer.” She adds,”There are certain foods and different things that have anti-angiogenesis properties that stop the growth of blood vessels. And the blue phycocyanin in spirulina is one of those things.”  Benefits Of Spirulina Catharine Arnston says we 99.9% can get all the protein within 15 minutes and literally within seconds if we chew spirulina. This is because all the protein in Spirulina is already in an amino acid form. And because there is nothing left for our body to break it down, it is instantly absorbable because it is technically a bacteria. “Spirulina is not a detoxifier. It is a cleanser. In Japan, when babies are born, they cannot digest mothers milk and would die otherwise. The only thing that keeps them alive is spirulina in water,” shares Catharine Arnston. “During my research, I looked at the nutrient profile and the amino acid profile of mother’s milk colostrum. It has the same nutrient profile as spirulina.” Chlorella On the other hand, chlorella does not have the blue pigment. It is a plant that contains the highest chlorophyll in the world. Chlorophyll is good for cleansing and it is also very healing.  “Most pigments and antioxidants are water-based. Chlorophyll is one of the few fat-based pigments and antioxidants,” Catharine Arnston said. “Our cells need fat. That’s what Omega 3 does. It helps heal the cell. So now, nutrients can easily flow into the cell, and toxins can easily flow out of the cell. That’s one of the benefits of chlorophyll.”  She adds, “It aids the health of the cell. If the cell wall and cells are healthy, the immune system will be healthy, and the mitochondria will be healthy. Everything will work a lot better.” Catharine Arnston also says only 10% chlorophyll gets absorbed in the stomach. The rest of the Chlorophyll stays in our gut and moves into our entire digestive tract, through the liver, and down our colon. It cleans up garbage in our body as it goes along and heals all the cell walls. Importance of Vitamin K2 Most heart attacks and heart diseases are not caused by cholesterol. According to Catharine Arnston, it is caused by inflammation and hardening of the arteries because of too much calcium in arteries. “The arteries become brittle and not flexible. In effect, blood can’t flow and can cause high blood pressure. And the only thing that pulls this excess calcium out is vitamin K2,” said Catharine Arnston. “The only place you can get vitamin k2 is either grass-fed animal protein, fermented foods, and chlorella. If you take vitamin K2, your body will take out all that excess calcium that’s hardening your arteries and moves into your bones or teeth.” I can vouch for what Catharine Arnston said. I had Dr. Carolyn Dean on episode 227 of my show recently, and she said that our body does need vitamin K2 and magnesium. This is to help deposit calcium and other minerals into our bones. Another excellent reference was Dr. Weston A. Price’s discovery a long time ago. In his research, Dr. Weston A. Price discovered indigenous cultures had great teeth good healthy bacteria in their mouths because vitamin K2 was plentiful in their gut and diet. For added reference on chlorella, I’m inviting my listeners to check out my interview with Dr. Dietrich Kinghardt on episode 218.  Energybits Products Catharine Arnston has a fantastic line of products called ENERGYbits, RECOVERYbits, SKINNYbits, and VITALITYbits. All her products are 100% organically grown, non-GMO spirulina and chlorella algae tablets. “These are complete food-based replacements for multivitamins. John Taylor Gatto on Brzezinski: "Zbigniew Brzezinski wrote his famous signature book Between Two Ages: America's Role in the Technetronic Era in 1970, a piece reeking with Fabianisms: dislike of direct popular power, relentless advocacy of the right and duty of evolutionarily advanced nations to administer less-developed parts of the world, revulsion at populist demands for "selfish self-government" (homeschooling would be a prime example), and stress on collectivism. Sutton's Western Technology and Soviet Economic Development: 1917–1930, which argues that 'Soviet economic development for 1917–1930 was essentially dependent on Western technological aid' (p.283), and that 'at least 95 per cent of the industrial structure received this assistance.' “(p. 348). Brzezinski said in the book:14  It will soon be possible to assert almost continuous control over every citizen and to maintain up-to-date files containing even the most personal details about health and personal behavior of every citizen, in addition to the more customary data. These files will be subject to instantaneous retrieval by the authorities. Power will gravitate into the hands of those who control information." Professor Antony C.
