“We were outsiders”Edward Stourton, presenter of BBC Radio 4's Sunday programme, speaks to Bishop Guli Francis-Dehqani about her Persian identity and her faith. Bishop Guli is currently the Bishop of Chelmsford, a city in England, but it's also being reported that she's one of the leading candidates to become the next Archbishop of Canterbury - the most senior bishop in the Church of England.Although she is keen not to add to any media speculation, if selected, Bishop Guli would be a remarkable choice. Not only would she be the first woman to hold the position in the Church's long history, but she'd also become the first person of Middle Eastern heritage to hold the position too.Born in Iran, her family came to the UK as refugees after her brother was murdered in the wake of the Iranian Revolution. In this episode, Paul explores a pivotal moment in Moses' life—when anger leads him to take justice into his own hands—and reminds us why only God can rightly deal with evil.To hear more from this Exodus series, visit PaulTripp.com/Exodus.
It is a sad reality in today's world that churches must begin to take action to protect their members and staff from violence. As I write this, the news came out of another shooting at a church in Lexington, Kentucky. Kris Maloney saw this need a few years ago, and using his military and Law Enforcement training began teaching churches how to protect their members and staff. This local assistance has transformed into a full ministry and business. Sheepdog Church Security was founded to provide excellent training to churches across the country. From identifying your team(s) to range time and becoming proficient with your weapon Through both online and inperson training, Kris instructs church volunteers how to recognize a possible threat, how to patrol the parking lots, doors, grounds and more. His business trains churches how to identify and stop a possible attack. This episode is intresting and insightful as Kris tells us the imnportant aspects of being prepared adn being safe while we worship. https://sheepdogchurchsecurity.net/ www.taurususa.com www.cva.com www.himtnjerky.com www.murrelloptics.com www.jumpmedic.com www.christianoutdoors.org www.citrusafe.com www.elimishieldhunt.com

As artificial intelligence reshapes how we live, work, and connect—what does it mean for our spiritual lives? In this episode, Adam and the crew unpack how tools like AI can support, challenge, and even disrupt our walk with God. From digital Bible apps to algorithm-driven connection, they explore both the opportunity and the danger of technology becoming a substitute for intimacy with the Father.Drawing from the story of Adam and Eve, this conversation reminds us that no matter how advanced our tools become, nothing can replace genuine human relationship and divine connection. As the Church enters the digital age, we're challenged to use these tools with wisdom—anchored in truth, led by the Spirit, and committed to staying fully human.--Connect with:Pastor Adam Mesa https://www.instagram.com/amesa/Pastor Sammy https://www.instagram.com/samuelmrod/Pastor Aaron Levy https://www.instagram.com/_aaronlevy/--Don't forget to stay connected with us:Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4OvpFp9OB9_DgVdVVbXhFgInstagram https://www.instagram.com/beyond.theletter/Tik Tok https://www.tiktok.com/discover/beyond-the-letter--Get Aaron Levy's book, JOHN: 21 Daily Drips of Dialogue: https://a.co/d/7lGB90i--Have a question? God calls Himself the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—not just the faithful, not just the promised, but the struggler. From the womb to wrestling with angels, Jacob's life was marked by conflict—and so is ours. But what if the struggle isn't a sign God has left you, but proof He's with you? In this message, discover how God uses the fight to form you, how He favors the one who won't quit, and why your struggle might just be the evidence of His love.

Send us a textSaints in the South classic! This week we discuss how scriptures that are specifically given to individuals at the time, can be applied to our lives and our circumstances. For example, section 81 was originally given to Jesse Gause. However, he later left the church and this revelation, when published substituted Frederick G. Williams name for Jesse Gause's name. We discuss the importance of standing in the office in which you have been called and doing it faithfully. Sometimes that is a calling in church, a calling in life, or a situation you are placed in. Where much is given, much is required. It is true, those who have been given more or know more should be expected to do more. Finally, we discuss who is supposed to care for those that stand in need. Who has claim upon the church or the Lord's storehouse? Who has the responsibility to watch over the down trodden? Join us this week as we continue to apply the scriptures to our personal lives.Support the show... Become a "Patron Saint"!!
This week we looked at Our Purpose “In Christ”. We exist to glorify God through our words and our actions. We tell people our story of what the Lord has done for us and in us. And, we live a life that bears the fruit of the Spirit and does not take the grace of God in vain. Don't just invite people to a church building, introduce them to Jesus.

What holds many Christians back from sharing the gospel with friends and family? Often, it's a sense of inadequacy or fear. In this opening message for Waymaker.Church's 2025 Year of Harvest, we explore Luke 9–10, where Jesus sends out seventy-two ordinary followers—not just the twelve—to prepare the way for His arrival. This message reminds us that we are not called to save people, but to prepare the way for Jesus to meet them. Through prayer, compassion, and obedience, every believer is invited into the mission of the harvest. The opportunities are all around us—but the workers are few. Jesus is clear: the mission won't be easy—but it is worth the risk. You are sent and you are equipped.

Send us a textModern medicine rests on a centuries‑old decision to split mind from body. That fault line still runs through every clinic and classroom, raising an uncomfortable question: if the foundation ignores half of human experience, how scientific are we really? In this episode, Dr Eeks talks with physician‑author Dr Robert Smith about why his new book Has Medicine Lost Its Mind? argues it is time to reunite what never should have been divided. What We CoverThe Great Split: A medieval Church decree let scientists dissect bodies but barred them from the head, setting up the mental‑vs‑physical divide that still guides clinical practice.Primary‑Care Patchwork: Family doctors now manage roughly 75 percent of U.S. mental‑health care despite minimal formal training in mental health.Medicalizing Real‑Life Messes: Trauma, chronic stress, and tough social conditions often get reframed as diseases because the system lacks better options. The “Complex” Patient Label: How “complex” often translates to “we're overwhelmed and don't know what's really wrong.”Culture on Autopilot: Rituals, hierarchy, and resistance to change can block genuine healing even when evidence points elsewhere.A Way Forward: The biopsychosocial model that addresses lab values and life stories—and what it would take for mainstream medicine to embrace it.If you have ever felt that your doctor's office visit left half of you outside the exam room, press play and join the conversation about what real, whole‑person healthcare could look like. Dr. Robert C. Smith is a nationally acclaimed authority on evidence‑based mental health care and doctor–patient communication. If you sign away the faith of your fathers, all lesser goods will be forfeited too!” ~ Young Edmund Southworth could not have foreseen the path his life would take upon befriending Gentleman Johnny Burgoyne, British military veteran and parliamentarian. As Catholic recusants from the north of England, Edmund's once noble family has struggled to survive for centuries in the shadow of the Anglican ascendancy. But General Burgoyne offers him the chance to put past humiliations behind him by joining the Church of England and donning a scarlet coat as an officer of King George III. Although his conscience is uneasy, Edmund embarks upon Burgoyne's March to subdue the American revolutionaries by splitting the colonies in two. He finds unexpected love in the arms of Abby Vanderkamp, a supporter of American independence, who will do anything to free her father from a British prison hulk or, failing that, strike a blow for the hard-pressed rebel cause. As the British advance through the New York wilderness devolves into increasing brutality and instability, Edmund will have his already divided loyalties tested to the breaking point under the influence of this hostile land, which presents him with new challenges and opportunities alike. Everything is Awesome! James 5:10-20; St. Matthew 9:1-8 (Riffing on St. Peter Chrysologus) Over the last few homilies, I have tried to share an approach to living that looks for the good, and the beautiful, and the true in all things so that we might have joy in them and nurture them towards greater glory. Today, I am going to continue this lesson by applying it to scripture. Of course, in this case we are not nurturing scripture to greater glory, but we always grow in our appreciation of its goodness, beauty, and truth so that those virtues might grow within us. Let's go through today's Gospel reading. This story starts out so mundanely, with Christ entering the boat, crossing the sea, and coming to his town. But even in, this there is something to learn, something that should leave us in awe. This is the God who has complete mastery over all the elements, over all of time and space. Why does he cross the sea in this way – surely the hosts of heaven, at the very least, could have born him to his destination? As St. Peter Chrysologus teaches us the way that he juxtaposes the material with the spiritual and the mundane with the glorious; Christ came to take up our infirmities, and to confer his own power upon us; to experience human things, to bestow divine ones; to accept insults, to return honors; to endure what is irksome, and to restore health, because a doctor who does not bear infirmities does not know how to cure; and the one who has not been a fellow patient is unable to confer health. To summarize St. Gregory of Nazianzus; that part of humanity that God did not accept or assume, cannot be saved. There were no shortcuts for our salvation. God became man and lived according to our infirmity (in everything but sin). Therefore, he endured these limitations so that he would be shown to be true man by these human limitations. Do you see how much beauty here? We go on to read that he entered the boat. He entered a boat? Sure you see where we are going with this! We know these truths, but do we ever slow down and just bask in their glory? What is the boat but the Church? Again, let's listen to St. Peter Chrysologus; Christ always enters the boat of his Church to calm the waves of the world, so that he might lead those who believe in him tranquilly across to his heavenly homeland, and make citizens of his own city those whom he made sharers in his humanity. Therefore, Christ does not need the ship, but the ship needs Christ, because without a Pilot from heaven the ship of the Church is unable to pass through the sea of the world amid so many grave perils and reach heaven's harbor. We have talked about the sea and the boat; what about his destination? How can we not be amazed that the Creator and Lord over all the cosmos, for the sake of our salvation; … began to have a human homeland, began to be a citizen of a Jewish town, and he himself the Parent of all parents began to have parents, in order that his love might invite, his charity attract, his affection bind, and his kindness persuade those whom his sovereign might had put to flight, dread had scattered, and the force of his power had made exiles. I cannot tell you how often I passed over these words as if they were filler between the really important things in the narrative. How often do we do this not just with scripture, but with life? Every moment, every detail of life is precious, brimming with meaning and potential. But we skip over this invitation to joy, to glory, because we are looking or waiting for greater things. My brothers and sisters, in a world that has been infused with the divine, everything is steeped in magnificence. And so, we finally get to the meat of the story; He came to his own town, and they brought him a paralytic lying on a bed. And when Jesus saw their faith, it says, he said to the paralytic: “Have confidence, son! Your sins are forgiven you” (vv. 1–2). While the point about God having the power to forgive sins, and Him choosing to exercise that power as man, as the new Adam, thus setting the scene for giving that power to us as the new humanity in Him; while all that may be obvious, or if not obvious, certainly provides the grist for most homilies on this passage…. There are details that we often pass over and that deserve our attention. Jesus saw their faith… Their faith… not the faith of the paralytic. St. Peter points out that the faith of the infirm is often unreliable – the mind of the infirm is often delirious – and so “he does not examine all the senseless desires of the infirm, but he comes to help thanks to someone else's faith, so that he may grant through grace alone, and not deny, whatever is of the divine will.” What a beautiful thing is the love of the Lord for all of us in our delirium! And, when we are thinking straight, and thus concerned more for the ill and infirm among us as ourselves – he brings his mercy and forgiveness to those we bring to him! Do you see how great this is? When we pray for others, it does not fall on deaf ears but on ears that are always ready to hear and respond. And who is more ill among us than the spiritually or even physically injured or dead? And yet He teaches us, through this example from His life and from the way His Spirit has guided our worship and prayer to pray for all, and most especially for those who cannot pray or act for themselves. Lord hear our prayer! And, just to make sure you appreciate the goodness evident here, take a moment to appreciate the paralysis and incapacitation of our own minds and thus appreciate why it is that the prayers of the prayers of the righteous avail so much! They bring our paralyzed souls into the presence of God and plead for our healing before Him. And to all this, the Pharisees responded: He blasphemes: for who can forgive sins except God alone? (v. 3) 6. And when Jesus had seen their thoughts, it says, he said to them: “Why do you think evil in your hearts? What is easier to say: your sins are forgiven you, or to say: stand up and walk? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has power to forgive sins”—he then said to the paralytic: “Stand up, pick up your bed, and go home.” And he stood up and went home (vv. 4–7). Pick up your bed, that is, “Carry what used to carry you, reverse the burden, so that what is a testimony to your infirmity may be a proof that you are healed; so that the bed of your pain may be evidence that I cured you; so that the amount of its weight may attest to the amount of strength you have regained.” Go home, to the place that you belong – our heart's true home. The place that is where we can grow in glory. The place that is for the believer – every single place, because every single place, like every single moment, is connected with the divine source of all beautiful, good, and true.
