As we sat down to discuss this subject, we realized that the general aviation community has not had a lot of access to these subjects, in particular the subject of Threat and Error Management (TEM).   That is why Korey Stafford, CEO of Echelon Flight Support, and I invited Mario Calzetta, a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in CRM, TEM, and HF, to be a part of a rich discussion on Threat and Error Management. Whether you are a professional aviator or a general aviation pilot, you will garner sound ideas about how to best apply safe pilot practices which stem from TEM. People often learn martial arts to protect themselves and others. As any conflict resolution expert will tell you, violence should be your absolute last resort. Protection starts long before physicality. The most influential leaders diffuse tense situations by going in with an unusual mindset and awareness. They're also great communicators. Our guest came up with the "PeaceWalker System", which gives you an entire suite of tools to lead, protect, and live confidently. Meet our guest Craig Gray is a Krav Maga instructor, conflict communication expert and former bodyguard who founded the PeaceWalker Program an approach that teaches ‘average Joes' a simple method for protecting themselves and loved ones from harm. Craig is a speaker, trainer, and Subject Matter Expert (SME). For over two decades he has been highly sought after by private and government organizations, fortune 500 companies, and many others for his unique approach. He has worked with people ranging from Navy SEALS to soccer moms, police to private security, teachers to healthcare providers... and everyone in between. Craig runs a Krav Maga Academy, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He's an Associate Instructor and founding member at Resolution Group International (RGI), a conflict management company serving the needs of the U.S. Military, law enforcement agencies, and private organizations. We must separate their life's value from their actions and behaviors Most bad situations happen out of opportunity and generally could have been diffused. Awareness makes you a hard target Defense starts with mindset, then awareness, then influence, then action. Combat is the last resort Krav Maga is easy to learn, and actually works to defend yourself where traditional martial arts would not Links Watch it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/nH4gbOqfG1g Full episode show notes: mindbodypeak.com/30 Connect with Nick on social media Instagram Twitter YouTube LinkedIn Easy ways to support Subscribe Leave an Apple Podcast review Suggest a guest Do you have questions, thoughts, or feedback for Craig or me? Our featured guest on this episode is Maria Cristina Castro, also known as Strawberry Castro. We began our conversation with the back story on her nickname, Strawberry. We learned that her given name is widespread in the Philippines, and when her sister gave her the nickname Strawberry in their childhood, it stuck. Strawberry has a remarkable career journey in just five years at iQor, which began as a call center agent.    She joined iQor in 2016 with two friends from another BPO. Her previous BPO employer was downsizing an account, which motivated her and her friends to look for new opportunities. She heard from other friends that iQor was recruiting in her area in the Philippines, offering attractive packages for experienced agents. She researched the company, and all three of them applied for jobs. All three got hired as call center agents and are still with iQor five years later.     Strawberry excelled in her first role at iQor as a call center agent delivering customer care. She was in this role only for nine months. She admits that it was a different experience than what she was used to. The account she supported had an extroverted personality. She had fun learning and adapting to the client while absorbing the culture of iQor. She quickly points out that both the account and iQor had a lot of energy and passion, which appealed to her very much.     After nine months in the call center agent role, and with a lot of mentoring and coaching from supervisors and peers, Strawberry was promoted to Subject Matter Expert (SME). A SME is a “walking Google” (her words) that helps agents handle calls. Strawberry had mastered the personality of the client's brand and the customer service issues, enabling her to be an effective SME. Her managers started developing her for the next role. With mentoring, she was promoted again, this time to supervisor apprentice.      Now, Strawberry managed her own teams, monitored performance, and served as a mentor to agents. By this time, she was very motivated to continue her career journey at iQor in leadership roles.     She entered the sQholar program, which is part of iQor University. Its purpose is to develop call center employees into leadership potential. The sQholar program is comprised of online courses and live classes designed to help agents become leaders. She says it was a fantastic experience. The program requires employees to complete the training in a six-month timeframe plus an entire week of leadership training. This experience was very instrumental in preparing her for a leadership role.      However, she didn't complete the sQholar program within six months, which was a temporary setback for Strawberry. She was removed from the apprentice program, and she returned to the SME role.      While Strawberry was disappointed in herself for not completing the program in time, she reflected on what she had learned and regrouped with her mentors and coaches. Her support system was solid. They encouraged her to assert herself, and she planned her next career step at iQor.     Strawberry volunteered to host a year-end party to showcase her skills and to get exposure. It paid off. Hosting the event gave her visibility with other departments, displayed her skills, and quickly gave back her confidence.    She returned to the sQholar program and completed it on time, graduating with honors! Then the door opened for an opportunity to become a trainer. She spoke with her mentors, got their advice, and applied for a trainer role. And she got the job! She was ecstatic to join the training team, where she went through the trainer certification program. She became certified in level one and has also completed level two. She is currently in level three of the train-the-trainer program. Not surprisingly, Strawberry has stepped up and proved to be an effective trainer.    At the time of this podcast publishing, she is a training manager handling frontline leadership development at her site in Talisay, Philippines.    Strawberry's story is inspiring because she didn't allow a setback to derail her career journey at iQor. Instead, she double-downed on her strengths and, with guidance from her mentors, put an action plan in place for her next career step at iQor.    Her advice to anyone considering joining iQor is to be open to learning. Learning is what she attributes her success to, along with having access to mentors. She encourages others to leverage their previous experience. And never stop learning for fun. Strawberry enjoys spending time with her two sisters and her teenage son going shopping, relaxing at the beach, and taking food trips. She and her son share a love for rock music and fantasy adventure too.     Learn more about iQor digital customer experience capabilities.    Read the show notes here. Watch the video here.

Ric Prado has been described by CIA leadership as the closest thing to 007 that the United States has ever had. Coming out of the shadows, this is Ric's first video interview and covers his career, operational decision-making lessons learned, why we need a next generation of CIA agents, and we even dive into some more obscure topics like CIA knife fighting and how he came to train the King of Jordan. Welcome to Twisted Motherhood! 2020 TAUGHT ME... As we roll out of the year 2020, I can’t help but to get emotional. This has been one of the hardest and I do mean HARDEST years of my life! I lost a parent this year y’all. My DADDY!!! ♥️♥️ Talk about lost... I never knew that the loss of a parent could bring so many unexplained feelings. And that’s in addition to the other unsolicited horrors that we’ve experienced. So many have perished this year, all over the world so the sheer ability to inhale on my own is a blessing in itself. Through all of the death and depression, racial tension, police brutality, lack of national leadership, broken families and broken spirits, lost friendships, and all else that we’ve experienced - WE ARE STILL HERE! We were STILL granted with favor and the opportunity to see and experience another day. So our work here isn’t done!! It’s safe to say 2020 had many unexpected twists and turns. But WITH ALL OF MY PAIN, I persevered to the end. I’m proud of myself - launching two businesses and a brand while battling grief! Now that’s big! I am so excited about what’s to come in the new year and through it all... I’m thankful!! God never left my side even when others did! Huge shout out to my support system through this journey! You know who you are! ♥️♥️♥️

When was your last Subject Matter Expert (SME) meeting? How did it go? Was it a painful experience for both of you? If so, this episode is for you! What's Happening in The Lounge today? I'm excited to bring you this impromptu chat with my new friend Sean Hickey. Sean is a master at working with people. He's incredibly personable and a joy to spend time with. I've had the privilege of spending time with him at two separate conferences, the Ohio ATD Tech days last September and the March 2019 Learning Solutions conference where he and my friend Cara North presented a fun and engaging session - and where they won BEST OF SHOW at DemoFest for their fun game on question pitfalls and the mayhem that comes from ill prepared multiple choice questions. Sean and Cara win Best of Show at Learning Solutions 19 DemoFest This episode isn't about assessment or evaluation - instead we're going to dive deep into the tips that Sean has for working effectively with your SMEs to help you and them get the most of your often limited time together. It's a fun conversation - I had to cut out a lot of my giggles because Sean makes me big belly laugh to the point I sounded like I might need emergency medical attention. So what did we talk about ? Here's a little list. Are you sure? How do you know? The current state of security in Industrial Control Systems is a widely publicized issue, but fixes to ICS security issues are long cycle, with some systems and devices that will unfortunately never have patches available. In this environment, visibility into security threats to ICS is critical, and almost all of ICS monitoring has been focused on compliance, rather than looking for indicators/evidence of compromise. The non-intrusive nature of Network Security Monitoring (NSM) is a perfect fit for ICS. This presentation will show how NSM should be part of ICS defense and response strategy, various options for implementing NSM, and some of the capabilities that NSM can bring to an ICS security program. Free tools such as Security Onion, Snort IDS, Bro IDS, NetworkMiner, and Wireshark will be used to look at the ICS environment for anomalies. It will be helpful if attendees have read these books (but they aren't required): The Cuckoo's Egg by Cliff Stoll, The Practice of Network Security Monitoring by Richard Bejtlich, and Applied Network Security Monitoring by Chris Sanders and Jason Smith. Chris Sistrunk is a Senior Consultant at Mandiant, focusing on cyber security for industrial control systems (ICS) and critical infrastructure. Prior to joining Mandiant, Chris was a Senior Engineer at Entergy (over 11 years) where he was the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for SCADA systems. He has 10 years of experience in SCADA systems with tasks such as standards development, system design, database configuration, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and training. In this episode of Blessed and Bossed Up, Tatum dives deep into the life and ministry of John the Baptist, a prophetic figure whose role in preparing the way for Jesus offers vital lessons in repentance, righteousness, and fulfilling God's call. Tatum also connects John's mission to the journey of faith-based entrepreneurs, especially those called to be subject matter experts in their fields.John the Baptist's ministry in the wilderness was marked by boldness and a deep sense of purpose. His message of repentance drew large crowds, and he baptized Jesus, witnessing the Holy Spirit descending upon Him. Yet, even John faced moments of doubt, reminding us that we all need reassurance as we walk in our calling. Tatum highlights how John's life underscores the importance of staying mission-focused and aligning our work with God's plan, much like entrepreneurs who serve as subject matter experts in their industries.Key Points:John's Role in Prophecy and Ministry: John the Baptist fulfilled Old Testament prophecies as the voice crying out in the wilderness, preparing the way for Jesus. His life of boldness and righteousness is a powerful example for believers today.Baptism of Jesus: John's baptism of Jesus marked a significant moment in biblical history, as the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus and His public ministry began.Doubts and Reassurance: John, despite his vital role, faced doubts about Jesus' identity while in prison. Jesus affirmed John's mission, emphasizing that even those with a great calling need moments of reassurance.Entrepreneurs as Subject Matter Experts: Tatum draws parallels between John's focused ministry and the work of entrepreneurs who are called to be subject matter experts. Just as John's ministry was distinct and focused on preparing the way, faith-based entrepreneurs are called to stay mission-driven, offering expertise that serves a higher purpose. Tatum encourages entrepreneurs to focus on their God-given skills, using them to serve others while allowing God to multiply their efforts.Subject Matter Expert Entrepreneurs:Mission-Driven Focus: Entrepreneurs should view themselves as modern-day “preparers” for their audience, providing valuable expertise while staying aligned with their faith.Multiplication through God: Like John's faithfulness to his mission, entrepreneurs can trust that as they focus on their unique expertise and service, God will bring the increase and multiply their efforts.Facing Doubts in Entrepreneurship: Even those who are experts in their field can experience doubt and uncertainty. Tatum discusses how to handle these moments by seeking reassurance from God and staying rooted in your purpose.Scriptures Referenced:Isaiah 40:3 – "A voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the desert a highway for our God.'"Matthew 3:11 – John's statement about baptizing with water and the coming of someone more powerful (Jesus) who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.John 1:29-34 – John's testimony of Jesus as the Lamb of God.Luke 7:20-23 – John's disciples ask Jesus if He is the Messiah, and Jesus reassures them through His works.Links Mentioned:God Math Webinar: https://anchoredmedia.kartra.com/page/pum7Bible on Business Dashboard: https://anchoredmedia.kartra.com/page/iSP6Our Sponsors:* Check out Happy Mammoth and use my code BLESSED for a great deal: happymammoth.com* Check out IXL and use my code TODAY for a great deal: www.ixl.com/TODAY* Check out Indeed: indeed.com/BLESSED* Check out Kajabi: kajabi.com/BLESSED* Check out NetSuite: netsuite.com/BLESSED* Check out Rocket Money: rocketmoney.com/BLESSED* Check out Rosetta Stone and use my code TODAY for a great deal: www.rosettastone.comSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/blessed-bossed-up7264/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
