Episode 682 — Dream Disney Weekends, Golden Girls & Disney This or ThatThis week, Cousin Heather Stone Capelle is back, and we're having one of those conversations that feels like hanging out with friends and geeking out about Disney for an hour.We start by designing our dream Disney weekends with friends.Heather builds the ultimate Golden Girls getaway with her daughter and her Disney friends, complete with a Beach Club stay, an EPCOT fireworks cruise, a VIP tour, pool time, Victoria & Albert's, wine pairings, and plenty of time to slow down and enjoy being together. Then I start building my own guys weekend with lounge crawls, burger challenges, bourbon, live music, and a possible four-park VIP challenge. And after that…things get competitive. We jump into a big round of Disney This or That, debating everything from resorts and attractions to food, lounges, and Disney traditions. We geek out about:Beach Club vs. PolynesianBoardWalk area vs. Animal Kingdom LodgeContemporary vs. Grand FloridianSkyliner vs. MonorailRope Drop vs. Magic Kingdom at nightHaunted Mansion vs. Pirates of the CaribbeanSoarin' vs. Spaceship EarthRunaway Railway vs. RatatouilleFestival of the Lion King vs. FantasmicCharacter breakfasts vs. signature dinnersNomad Lounge vs. Trader Sam'sDole Whip vs. Mickey Premium BarsBig group trips vs. traveling with one close friendBut some of the best parts of this episode aren't really about choosing one Disney thing over another.Heather and I talk about how much the people you travel with shape the entire trip, why the best plans still need room for spontaneity, and how special it is to spend time at Disney with people who understand why this place means so much to you.Sometimes the best Disney moments aren't the rides or the reservations. They're the laughter, the strange little moments, the pictures you didn't plan, and the friends who make you say:“We've got to do this again.”
"Bloody Hello! The breath on that thing!" We watched "Jaws: The Revenge" with author Paul Downey and we had a roaring good time. This film is the final entry in the "Jaws" franchise and we honestly had a great time with it. We know, this one has a reputation for going a little off the rails - the main character is Chief Brody's wife Ellen (Lorraine Gary), she has a dubious "psychic" connection to the shark and the shark itself followed her from Martha's Vineyard to the Bahamas. If this all sounds a little cuckoo, don't worry - the movie itself is quite watchable and at times, a lot of fun. Lorraine Gary does a fine job as our new heroine but it's her chemistry with pilot Hoagie played by Michael Caine that stands out. It sort of feels like "The Golden Girls" take the Caribbean but thats what we love about it. The dings this movie got from the critics about the supernatural elements and Ellen's psychic bond with the shark can be taken with a grain of salt - we were fine with all those elements. The movie really does suffer from a rushed production and a script that can feel cobbled together. Early-80's dream boat Lance Guest, and Mario Van Peebles play Mike Brody and his colleague Jake respectively, and they create the electromagnetic device that shocks the shark and gets it to emit that much maligned roar in the climax. Yes the shark does roar and the altered ending included on the DVD and streaming versions are the biggest sins of this movie. At the end of the day we still had a fun time watching a fierce woman of a certain age find love, get her groove back in the Caribbean and protect her family from a shark all while wearing chic eyewear a modern hairdo and shoulder pads for days. Hour 3 (8.19) A Long Beach man spends the night alone in the ocean and lives, four 40-story towers for seniors are headed for Warner Center, and Tim finds a saved voicemail from his dad. The hour opens on prediction markets and what the Florida upset would have paid out, then Costco and nonprofit insurer SCAN Health Plan partnering on Medicare Advantage products in two states and a Medicare supplement in a third, pending regulatory approval — the retailer's first entry into the Medicare market. Then Tim, scrolling his phone, finds his father's voice still on it. From there: Paul Carbullido Jr., 53, was found 16 hours after he was reported missing — a husband and father of four on a personal watercraft for the first time in his life. He can't swim. Coast Guard crews found him floating nearly three miles south of the Seal Beach Pier around 10:45 a.m., body temperature down to 86 degrees, and he says his life vest is what let him paddle all night. Plus the Viva project headed for Warner Center: four towers, roughly 40 floors, more than 3,000 units of affordable senior housing, part of a much wider redevelopment. Councilmember Bob Blumenfield calls it the future of senior housing — "kind of like Golden Girls on steroids." And the crew closes out on Harry and Meghan, their post-royal business record, and whether the American public has moved on. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Some people celebrate birthdays with dignity. The Rizzuto Show celebrates them with sarcastic greeting cards, giant pastries, smoked deviled eggs, Italian rainbow cookies and a handcrafted pasta spoon featuring Tommy Wiseau.Welcome to Episode 201 of The Rizzuto Show, the comedy podcast where turning 48 apparently means your coworkers get unlimited permission to remind you that death is approaching. The show kicks off with some completely normal DuckTales appreciation before Lern proposes the crew go see Sebastian Bach, Quiet Riot and Great White. That immediately becomes a scheduling nightmare involving Rafe's Funny Bone weekend, Moon playing Valley Park Fall Fest and Rizz trying to figure out whether everybody can somehow attend three events simultaneously. Also, Moon may or may not have dreamed about Sebastian Bach. His dreams apparently have continuity now, so that's something everyone has to live with. Then Rizz brings up a movie theory that sounds just believable enough to ruin your productivity for the next hour: could The Goonies and Back to the Future take place on the exact same day?Back to the Future establishes October 26, 1985. Meanwhile, clues in The Goonies appear to place its adventure right around that same Saturday. Coincidence? Intentional cinematic universe? Evidence that Chunk was one DeLorean ride away from completely destroying the space-time continuum? We investigate with exactly the level of academic rigor you'd expect from this program.Which is none. Then Brian arrives with enough food to turn the studio into a French bakery: croissants, bread, ham and Swiss, smoked deviled eggs and more. This comes after the gigantic birthday cake he'd already made for Rizz, because apparently we're now trying to see whether a radio host can be defeated entirely by carbohydrates. From there, Crap on Celebrities brings another avalanche of entertainment news. The crew gets into Slipknot and Sid Wilson, Stray Kids dominating the Billboard charts, the debate surrounding a potential Asian pop Grammy category, and Frankie Valli continuing to perform at 92 — which leads everyone to wonder whether Frankie is enthusiastically choosing the stage or operating entirely on decades of muscle memory.Nate Bargatze also sets a massive comedy ticket-sales record, sending Rafe and the crew into a genuinely interesting conversation about club comedy versus arena comedy. Rafe explains why smaller rooms create that perfect pressure cooker of laughs while superstar comics eventually reach a level where playing a 200-seat club makes about as much financial sense as opening a lemonade stand inside Costco. Then somebody pays $192,000 for Sophia Petrillo's purse from The Golden Girls, because apparently having money is exhausting and eventually you simply run out of normal things to buy.The entertainment conversation keeps rolling into movies, celebrity stories and eventually Brad Pitt declaring that bad acting is so distracting he can't watch porn. This results in Rafe questioning Brad Pitt's acting credentials and nearly getting thrown off the show by everyone else. The crew debates whether Pitt is actually an elite actor, just exceptionally talented at playing Brad Pitt, or both. And somehow that's still not the most disrespectful conversation of the episode.Because it's Rizz's birthday. The crew surprises him with cards carefully selected to remind him that he's old, grouchy and one year closer to death. Lern gives him a Tommy Wiseau pasta spoon. Then Rafe produces Italian rainbow cookies from Sweet Seven Layers, delivered by a New York/Jersey baker who listens to the show and apparently understands exactly how to win over a “greasy meatball” birthday boy. It's heartfelt. It's insulting. It's carb-heavy.In other words, it's the perfect Rizz Show birthday.Hair metal, ridiculous movie theories, entertainment gossip, comedy talk, celebrity arguments and enough birthday shenanigans to make HR quietly close its laptop — Episode 201 is another completely normal comedy podcast from St. Louis. If you've ever wondered what happens when grown adults combine Sebastian Bach, The Goonies, Brad Pitt, Tommy Wiseau and Italian cookies into one morning show, congratulations. Roommates. They can be great, they can save you money....and they can also make your life a living hell.Roommate households are the fastest growing living arrangement in Canada, so we wanted to know, how are people making it work? (or not)Here are five stories from our Now or Never archives of people navigating some tricky real-life moments with their roommates.Deb King never thought she'd need to find a roommate at 67 years old, but that's exactly what she's doing right now. We join her on the hunt for “someone normal,” as she fends off dating requests, does background checks, and just tries to find a home for herself and her dog, Cirque du Soleil.Jewel Casey and Jordan Woodward have spent the past seven months living together in an apartment in Invermere, B.C.…as exes. Despite the rough patches, sticking out their year-long lease together has led the couple to come to some surprising realizations about where their relationship went wrong. It's move in day for Marisa, Matt, Chet, and Izabella, a group of friends in Toronto who just bought a 1.3 million dollar home together. They say that co-owning is their only way to crack the Toronto housing market. So how do they decide who takes out the garbage? And what happens if one of them gets a job in another city? They show us the whiteboard and 20-page contract that gets into the nitty-gritty of cohabitating with friends. After Bev Suek's husband passed away, she realized she didn't like to live alone. So she opened up the doors to her six-bedroom home in Winnipeg, for other 50+ women who don't want to live alone, either. Trevor drops in for a visit with the real-life Golden Girls of Winnipeg, to find out how they handle everything from making meals to overnight guests (wink wink).Sarah Scanlon and Jennifer McDonald joke that their 1000 square foot, three bedroom bungalow in Guelph is an 'eco-lesbian retreat.' Best friends for the last 17 years, they decided to buy a house together in 2021. And if you think close friends (who also happen to be exes) don't necessarily make great roommates....Sarah and Jen are here to prove you wrong.
In this episode, we examine "The Commitments" as Blanche's latest boyfriend refuses to sleep with her — which sends Blanche into an existential spiral about whether she's losing her appeal. The episode gives Rue McClanahan something specific to play: not rejection exactly, but the threat of it, which for Blanche is almost worse. Meanwhile, Dorothy wins tickets to Beatlemania and develops a fixation on the cast member playing a Beatle that is entirely earnest and completely Bea Arthur. --- If you would like to support this podcast by making a donation, please do so with cashapp to $pasta26mc

We break down the idea of an annual "Girls Dinner" (specifically built around the question "What the hell are we doing with our lives?"), where you and your closest friends put your phones away and answer things like what you want more of, what you're tolerating that needs to change, and what you'd go after if you knew every woman in the room had your back. Then we shift into 6 rules for avoiding cringe behavior, from speakerphone use in public to scrolling through someone's photos without asking. We also share our feelings of the day and get into whether it's too soon to buy a "Golden Girls" style house with your best friend decades before you're actually that age. We also ask a question that doesn't come up enough: do you ever lie about your occupation? For example, would you lie about being a therapist to a stranger on a plane just to avoid unpacking their childhood trauma on vacation? You'll discover: How reclaiming your birthday can boost confidence and dispel feelings of loneliness Practical tips for integrating friends from different chapters of your life to deepen bonds The surprising ways self-celebration challenges ageism and societal expectations Why setting clear boundaries and expectations with family and friends creates healthier relationships The transformative power of letting go of perfection and attachment to outcomes As Erin highlights, life's short—celebrate yourself, your friendships, and your growth. Whether you're wary of rejection or simply craving more meaningful connections, this episode offers courage, humor, and a fresh perspective on honoring yourself at any age.If you've ever felt overlooked on your birthday—or just want to embrace a new way to connect with loved ones—this is your call to throw your own party. This Week on the Toy Power Podcast; even though we are Celebrating our 10th Year of Podcasting; we unfortunately exhausted all our energy on the Previous SDCC Reveals & Announcements Ep. So we are giving you a ReIssue episode instead from the Vault. (Originally Posted as Ep #143 - from October 2019). Original blurb: It’s a very special ep as we’re joined by not one, but two of favourite guests in Davey Damaged and Scotty so that’s right – it’s a Homer episode! Trent takes us through a vintage retrospective look at The Addams family by Playmates. Perfectly timed for Halloween, we wonder what could have been with this short-lived line and look to the future of the franchise as a new movie approaches. What characters didn’t get made, which ones make the camera glow and where does MC Hammer fit into it all? We make the jump to Show and Tell as Davey tries to trump us all with a purchase so large, we doubt it will actually fit in his toy room! There’s some DC, MOTU and even Final Fantasy options to choose from. Frank gives a lovely tribute showing that sometimes, the value of a toy; lays in more than its sticker price. Then it’s Quiz time and with Davey onboard, anything is possible. To say this episode goes off the rails is putting it mildly – but on the plus side we learnt that Trent can’t hold his liquor, Ben thinks photos record sound, Space Jam was an event and Rick Moranis is Trent’s muse. So hold on for this crazy ride that also serves as a farewell for one of the team…Support the show: http://patreon.com/toypowerpodcastSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The cold-blooded assassination of Jill Dando remains Britain's most haunting cold case. At the peak of her fame, the "Golden Girl" of the BBC was executed on her own doorstep in broad daylight—a crime so clinical it stunned the nation. But was it really the work of a "loner," or was Jill the victim of a professional hitman? In this episode of Andrew Gold | Heretics., investigative expert Matthew Steeples dives deep into the dark theories surrounding Dando's death. From Serbian retaliation and underworld revenge to a secret BBC dossier that might have contained too much truth, we rank the most likely suspects and explore the terrifying vulnerability of public figures. Was the real killer hiding in plain sight? We re-examine the evidence of the modified weapon, the silencer, and the chilling precision of the hit that the police may have completely misread. I'll also share a reminder about the American promise that has made homeownership one of the greatest wealth-building opportunities in history—and why that still matters today. In this Fuck Yeah Friday episode, Lesley Logan makes the case for celebrating the small stuff instead of holding your wins hostage until everything feels perfect. She shares an honest rant about technology that overpromises, a candid retirement-planning win with Brad, and a listener who finished all ten Spring Training classes. She digs into why tiny, bite-sized celebrations are what actually turn good intentions into habits. It is a warm, grounded reminder that the thing you just did is already worth honoring. Brad Crowell 0:01 Fuck yeah. Lesley Logan 0:02 Get ready for some wins. Welcome to the Be It Till You See It podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring. I'm Lesley Logan, Pilates instructor and fitness business coach. I've trained thousands of people around the world and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt. My friends, action brings clarity and it's the antidote to fear. Each week, my guest will bring bold, executable, intrinsic and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and Be It Till You See It. It's a practice, not a perfect. Let's get started. Lesley Logan 0:48 Welcome back to the Be It Till You See It podcast. This is our Fuck Yeah Friday. This is where we share some wins, we get some mantras, we get to just be in each other's lives a little bit. I want to know what's going on with you. Send it to me, right? Send me in your wins, send me what you're working on. Send us the topics that you're wanting us to do solo episodes on, or get some interviews on. Also, I just want to say thank you to those of you who have bought flash cards or joined OPC recently, because your support of OPC is what powers this podcast. So, if you have not checked out what we have at OPC, we've got some really great work and get stuff for you, and so if you're Pi curious, Pilate's curious, we've got stuff for you, don't have to be a Pilates expert to join OPC, is for people who want access and accountability to their Pilates practice, and so big thank you, big shout out to all of you. Lesley Logan 1:33 Okay, maybe I should welcome OPC members who join, who are Be It Pod listeners, I don't know if I should do that, but maybe you should do that, maybe we should do a little shout out, so you can hear your name. It's fun to hear your name. It's fun to hear your name on a podcast, especially this one, because it's top 1% podcast, right? Okay, so my "I need a moment" is that I'm currently sitting on my phone because it won't stop dinging, even though it's on do not disturb, and my frustration and my rant is, okay, what? What is Do Not Disturb for if I get disturbed on it, and it's like, oh, well, if your favorite, so your favorite thing get through, because, of course, I want my husband to get through, but then it dings on him texting me, and it's like, well, why, why are you doing this? I do Do Not Disturb for a reason, so how do I get to totally turn off, but then you can't have it turned off, because what if someone has an emergency? Then Brad did something to his phone, so nothing gets through, which means literally there was one day when our websites went down, his sister and I are trying to call him, and I'm doing the double call, and all this stuff. We got to the point where I almost sent my father to the house to wake him up, because we're like, "We need to talk to you, and we couldn't get through. So I'm annoyed that Do Not Disturb work so badly that my husband has turned his phone to a place where we can't even call through, and it doesn't work at all for me, and that my phone is beeping, and I have to sit on it. Why do this podcast? Because in those last episodes, you probably heard it dinging, and I apologize for that. That's annoying. But, why? The thing about technology that pisses me off is, don't tell me it's great, and it's making my life easier when it's making my life shitty. You know what I mean? But then, if we don't have it, then it's like, well, that's gonna suck, right? That will totally suck.Lesley Logan 3:06 So, anyway, all right, now a win, because if you get to complain, you have to have a win, and when you're not, we talked about this last week, the win does not have to be in the same complaint, doesn't have to be from that, because that I don't want to talk, I want to be like, oh, so and so died, but the win in it is, that's terrible shit, that's not it at all. My win is Brad and I adulted, we talked with our wealth managers, and things are looking good, and that's, you know, that's nice, because it doesn't feel like the world is doing well, and I am an elder millennial, and I want to be an elder millennial who gets to retire like I am, I want to retire, not today, don't freak out, but I want to be someone who gets to retire, that feels like a great.. we don't.. we've had guests on this podcast who talk about having your retirement persona. Let me tell you what it is. It is owner of a compound with my Golden Girl lifestyle, and all of my DINCs, dual income, no children couples, each having their own motel room, and then we have this massive Pilates studio slash gym, massive restaurant-style kitchen that we all get to cook in, so no one has to cook in their place, and no one has to have all these different, they just have a, their motel room is like their their place of living, their personal space, but then we have all these communal spaces we can take care of each other, because who else is going to take care of us? So, my win is that we're at least investing in a way that I was going to allow us to retire someday, more money would be better, but we're doing pretty good, considering what's going on in the world today. So, that's a nice win. Lesley Logan 4:36 So, now let me pull my phone out, so I can read one of yours. This is @lmarieinsta. I did all 10 Spring Training classes, and joined OPC! That's insane. @lmarieinsta, way to go. 10 classes, huge. I watched the ones that I wasn't in because I had to do the thing, and if you did, those were hard. Way to go, way to do all 10, proud of you. See, you guys, that's a win, right? When you're like, I committed to something, and I'm going to do what I can, and then you celebrate that you did it. We've got to normalize celebrating that you did the thing you want to do. It doesn't mean that you did this, shouldn't make a massive project, like I'm into spring training, and I'm celebrating that I did the spring training. That's the thing, right? Some of you are holding yourself hostage on celebrations that you're like, "I don't get to celebrate that I signed up for this language class until I can speak fluently. No, you have to celebrate, you signed up for it, you have to celebrate that you went to it, to celebrate that you quizzed yourself on it, to celebrate that you study a little extra, you have to celebrate these things. That's what makes them habits. That's why we do this. It's why we celebrate. So you get a little dopamine high, and then it makes it easier to do more things for yourself. People are always seeking out confidence support. You want to know where confidence support comes from? From doing the thing that you said you would do, and that's why you got to make it small. You got to make it bite-sized. You got to make it things that you can do. Lesley Logan 5:54 So, your mantra: I am a reflection of love and kindness. I am a reflection of love and kindness, a reflection of love and kindness. Yes, you are. All right, Be It babe. Thanks so much for listening. I hope you are loving these Friday episodes. If you have any questions about OPC, what we do there, our flash cards, how to use them, you can go to onlinepilatesclasses.com or you can reach out to us. We'll be happy to answer them. We have phone numbers you can chat to. Okay, until next time, Be It Till You See It.Lesley Logan 6:24 That's all I got for this episode of the Be It Till You See It Podcast. If you had nearly 300 screen credits, would you spend your free time mentoring new SAG-AFTRA members and helping fellow performers navigate a rapidly changing industry?? If your hand went up, you may be this week's guest, Lee Garlington!Lee joins Weezy and Lisa to discuss the unique, "hired gun" craft of popping into iconic shows with scene stealing roles and becoming what she calls "a director's actor." You had yet to learn her name when you saw her as Joey's father's mistress in Friends, as Bobby Cannavale's mother in Will & Grace, as Betty White's daughter on The Golden Girls and as Darlene's friend on Roseanne. You will know it now!Lee takes us behind the scenes on Psycho II and III, The West Wing, Sneakers, Six Feet Under and Seinfeld and shares harrowing axe-related stories from A Killing in a Small Town. She offers candid advice for aspiring actors, tells us about her work with the SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory and discusses the realities of longevity in Hollywood, and her work with the Ruskin Group Theatre.Plus, an entertaining round of IMDb Roulette uncovers the horrors of sitting for a death mask fitting, why she ever so gently adjusted the placement of Robert Redford and how her performance went next level when Amy Madigan called her a nazi! It's another edition of Brands of the Week! Donny runs through the brands rising, falling, and holding steady in the cultural conversation — starting with Netflix's controversial use of Gene Wilder's AI voice for a new Willy Wonka competition series, and Tom Hardy's much-debated return for Mobland Season 3. Plus: Sam's Club dethrones Costco's beloved rotisserie chicken, 7-Eleven turns the Slurpee into a "date destination" for its 60th birthday, and a new study links daily probiotics to improved mood. Donny also breaks down why brisk walking is lowering heart attack risk in women, why Ford brought back 350 veteran engineers after an AI experiment went sideways, and why in-office job seekers are getting hired faster. From an Aurora, Colorado mayor secretly sleeping in homeless shelters to understand his city better, to child-free millennials splurging on luxury dog travel, "bloom scrolling" as the antidote to doom scrolling, seniors embracing their inner Golden Girls, physical books outselling digital media, and Cracker Barrel's full-circle redemption arc — it's a packed week in brand news.
