We're talking about director Joe Wright's sumptuous 2005 adaptation of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice," starring Kiera Knightly in her prime stardom. The gents are joined by a special guest: Will's daughter Lizzie, an ardent fan of the book and movie. If the movie didn't class up the podcast, having the target demographic of Jane Austen sure did. Welcome to TV Break, where Pop Break's Podcasts Editor Alex Marcus is joined by editor-in-chief Bill Bodkin, and TV Columnist Josh Sarnecky to talk about the happenings in television. Here's the format of the show: The Best Thing I Saw on TV Last Month – Alex, Bill, & Josh talk about a show/episode/event they liked from the last month including Max's Creature Commandos, Disney Plus's Skeleton Crew & What If, and Netflix's No Good Deed. Streaming Wars – Alex, Bill, & Josh pick a streamer they think “won the month” based on new shows airing/upcoming shows announced etc. All three hosts had to hand it to Netflix for thoroughly dominating the holidays with record breaking NFL games, music performances by Beyonce, Sabrina Carpenter, & Chapelle Roan, comedy specials from Jaimie Fox and Nate Bargatze, hit TV shows like Squid Game and Black Doves, and hit movies like Carry On, The Six Triple Eight, and Emilia Perez, which has also become an awards season juggernaut. New Series Spotlight – This month, we are reviewing Netflix's Black Doves. The series was created by British TV vet Joe Barton, and follows Helen Webb, a politician's wife by day and covert spy by night, who attempts to unwind the mysterious conspiracy surrounding her lover's death without blowing her cover. The series stars Academy Award nominee Kiera Knightly as Helen, alongside her best friend and trigger man Sam, played by Ben Whishaw, and her shadowy handler Mrs. Reade, played by UK TV legend Sarah Lancashire. The small screen is covered in spycraft at the moment and DtW is sneaking up on a couple of new shows! Dan and Raul combed the monthly TV premieres microfiche to find that most streamers are sending out a spy series or two this season and picked the pilots of The Agency and Black Doves to see if they self-destruct or accomplish their mission. The Agency's A-lister star Michael Fassbender displays the meticulousness of a field agent of a non-murderous sort (so far) as the show displays how a man can balance the clandestine with a love story amidst looming international chaos. Meanwhile, in Kiera Knightly's Black Doves, she's lost her love to mysterious circumstances at the end of a sniper rifle, and she needs the help of old friend Ben Whishaw to get to the revenging for her extramarital paramore. She's also balancing a regular life with this cloak and dagger shenanigans, although she's built a loving family out of a sham marriage that was once deep cover but may end up with her next to the UK Prime Minister. Both shows go hard on the spyjinks, but are they worth watching til the end? This podcast is your secret decoder ring to the truth!

After the massive success of The Curse of the Black Pearl, it was rather obvious that Disney had a franchise on their hands. So it was inevitable that a sequel was going to be made. Or in this case, two sequels. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer gathered his director Gore Verbinski, his co-stars Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly, and of course his Oscar nominated actor Johnny Depp. The result is 2006's Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest. A movie that despite being hammered by so-so reviews, went on to make over $1 billion. Join Garrett, Matt, and Adam as they take a look at the sequel and conclude whether its bad reviews were warranted. And be sure to keep coming back as the boys will continue looking at the entire Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, all the way through 2017's Dead amen Tell No Tales!

On this episode of Paid in Puke, we pay tribute to the late Seattle film auteur, Lynn Shelton, who recently passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54. We celebrate her career with 2013's Touchy Feely, which Lynn also wrote, and 2014's Laggies, written by Andrea Seigel. Touchy Feely stars Rosemarie Dewitt and Ellen Page. Laggies stars Kiera Knightly and Chloe Grace Mortez. They share common themes of women who are at an existential crossroads and must take drastic steps to move forward. Lynn was very beloved, not just in Seattle, but by all who knew her. Rest in Power, Lynn.
On this episode of DID YOU EVEN WATCH IT? we discuss the 2006 Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, DEAD MAN'S CHEST DID YOU EVEN WATCH IT? is a PODCAST by three brothers and a best Mate, where we talk about one of our biggest passions, movies. In particular, movies that are seen by critics and/or fans as flops/failures/average that we enjoyed or simply movies that we don't think have gotten the notoriety or praise that they deserve. Each week we will pick a different movie to discuss and talk about things we love about the movie, the actors, favourite scenes, quotes, behind the scenes trivia and even parts of the movies that didn't make sense or could have been done better. Maybe we find listeners that agree with us and maybe even change people's minds on some movies or think we are crazy for loving these movies.
TV writer and author Gina Fattore joins the podcast this week, while we're all socially distant and craving entertainment, to discuss her new book, The Spinster Diaries. We'll also get into Dawson's Creek, but you'll have to listen to find out why. In this episode we'll discuss societal structures around single adulthood, eighteenth-century novelist Frances Burney, and how television actually gets made. We'll also discuss who our society choses to tell stories about, and why. This is a great listen for single women of all ages, especially those who are fans of female-led novels, 1970s feminism, and anyone who's ever wondered why our heroes never seem to have anxiety. In my view, today's guest has cracked the illusive 'balance' as a creative entrepreneur: she is both a fearless idealist creatively and a confident visionary commercially. Rachel Entwistle set up her eponymous jewellery brand in 2011. She splits her time between her store in Shoreditch and her home in Ibiza nestled among the orange groves. Quite a contrast. That love of contrast and travel is evident in her collections which are designed to connect people through history, symbols, nature and place. She counts Kiera Knightly, Florence Welsch, Natasha Khan and Russell Brand as private customers and has collaborated with exceptional brands such as Paul Smith. One of the many things that I admire about Rachel is the team that she has developed around her. She believes that growing a team is critical to growing a business and has done so in a considered and intentional way. She has raised up young talent, encouraged initiative and learning, released creativity and fostered a great company culture of belonging, trust and imaginative flair. I was so interested to hear how she has gone about it and I hope that you will too!Whether you are about to make your first hire or are building your own team of employees and freelancers, Rachel has a great point of view and has really reflected on this critical part of growing a business.

How can you amplify your message in a way that sounds enthusiastic rather than angry? Most people think of speaking as talking. But according to vocal master Roger Love who has coached stars from John Mayor to Kiera Knightly and the entire cast of Glee, we should really think of it more as singing. Your speaking has an inherent melody to it. If you're not conscious of this when you're speaking, you will have a very flat melody. Just like in music, you need an audibly intriguing melody to not only bring people in, but also to keep their interest. In this mini sabbatical episode, I share notes I took from Roger's advice broken down into 3 sections for improvement: Melody, Volume, and Continuity. You'll learn to be aware of the “squeaky hinge” you didn't know you had, the power of intentional silence, and where to begin improving your voice if you're just getting started with speaking or podcasting.
This week I'm 80% happy for former casting director turned assistant director, Clare McGinley. Clare started out reviewing college plays whilst studying at U.C.D in Dublin to casting actors on T.V and film. To date she has worked on shows such as the R.T.E series 'Raw' and 'Love Hate' to 'Begin Again', starring Kiera Knightly, Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine. She is currently assistant director to John Carney who directed 'Once' which starred Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova. 'Once' won an Oscar for Best Original Song for 'Falling Slowly', something I am unlikely to do.Anyone interested in working behind the scenes in TV and film should have a listen to this here podcast. Dave and Noah duck and cover under their nearest apocalyptic Rom Com: Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, starring Steve Carell and Kiera Knightly. It is the year 2021 and humanity is about to go the way of the dinosaur. In 21 days asteroid "Matilda" will hit earth. Applebees restaurants are offering skinny margaritas along with their ecstacy laced orgies, Patton Oswalt is trying heroin and getting tail left and right and Steve Carell's wife has just run out on him. He helps his neighbor, Kiera Knightly, find a way back to her family in exchange for her help in finding his first ex-girlfriend, the "initial one who got away". Along the way they discover that the end of the world is just the beginning...of their true heart's desire! Noah puts Dave in the Chuck Klosterman Closet and makes him answer hypothetical questions. Dave says goodbye to Dunder Mifflin.
On our Halloween Special we boldly break convention and neglect to discuss anything scary at all. No zombies, vampires, werewolves or ex-wives. We discuss whether the new Bond is trick or treat. Kiera Knightly tries her best to impress us in Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. We like when she tries her best. Meanwhile the cartoon world explodes in another feast of bad taste with Brickleberry, and Steve admits he is jealous of the sailors uniforms on the new military drama Last Resort. Mark and Steve are stunned to encounter such a positive Mike this week. They suspect fowl play, or at least a burd of some kind.
Brantley, Chapin and Tyson go Fruedian and study David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Method starring Michael Fassbender, Viggo Mortenson and Kiera Knightly. They manage to intelligently discuss the depths of psychoanalysis in films and top it off with their top 5 doctor/client relationships.

Meet Molly and Becca! We begin with an intro to who we are and where we stand on Jane Austen. Then we launch into Volume the First of Pride and Prejudice!Chapter 1: We meet Mr. and Mrs. Bennet and discuss their mildly sexy banter. The hot gossip is that a very rich and very single man is moving into Netherfield Park, and Mr. Bennet needs to write to him. Highlights include the rules of etiquette then and now, Jane Austen fun facts, a nonexistent movie starring Kiera Knightly and Colin Firth, our badass moms, "Keep Calm and Austen On," Bennet roleplay, and of course, marrying for money.Chapter 2: Mr. Bennet went to visit Mr. Bingley! Highlights include an overly dramatic Mrs. Bennet, IS KITTY SICK?, poor Mary, and your substitute teacher Zachary Quinto.Chapter 3: Bingley isn't coming to dinner, but we get to meet him at the long-awaited ball. Highlights include THE ENTRANCE OF DARCY, Colin Firth???, dancing drama, and our new Hilary Duff/Rupert Grint OTP.Chapter 4: Lizzy and Jane's Corner! Highlights include Charlie Bingley, Molly getting very riled up about Darcy, confusing money talk, the evolution of misogyny, and Bingley needing twelve opinions on his choices.Study Questions:We chat about the first line of the book (with a shout out to @el_silvero's FIRE tweet on the matter) and dating in the modern world.Thoughts on the five Bennet sisters? We discuss middle children, Molly postulates that Lydia MIGHT be gay and Kitty MIGHT be sick. Lizzy would most likely be found at the Women's March, and Jane is an overall good person.Bingley/Jane vs. Lizzy/Darcy? #projingley #antidizzyBingley/Darcy vs. Lizzy/Jane? We discuss friendship dynamics, extroverts and introverts, and how opposites attract. Molly makes some predictions about how the friendships will develop.Funniest quote: "I'M SICK OF BINGLEY!" or "I can assure you that Lizzy does not lose much but not suiting his fancy. For he is a most disagreeable, horrid man, not at all worth pleasing. So high, and so conceited that there is no enduring him. He walked here, and he walked there, fancying himself so very great. Not handsome enough to dance with! I wish you had been there, me dear, to have given him one of your set-downs. I quite detest the man."Question moving forward: What does Bingley see in Darcy?Who wins the chapter?: Mrs. Bennet!
