Abstract: Evidence suggests that subcortical structures play a role in high-level cognitive functions such as the allocation of spatial attention. While there is abundant evidence in humans for posterior alpha band oscillations being modulated by spatial attention, little is known about how subcortical regions contribute to these oscillatory modulations, particularly under varying conditions of cognitive challenge. In this study, we combined MEG and structural MRI data to investigate the role of subcortical structures in controlling the allocation of attentional resources by employing a cued spatial attention paradigm with varying levels of perceptual load. We asked whether hemispheric lateralization of volumetric measures of the thalamus and basal ganglia predicted the hemispheric modulation of alpha-band power. Lateral asymmetry of the globus pallidus, caudate nucleus, and thalamus predicted attention-related modulations of posterior alpha oscillations. When the perceptual load was applied to the target and the distractor was salient caudate nucleus asymmetry predicted alpha-band modulations. Globus Pallidus was predictive of alpha-band modulations when either the target had a high load, or the distractor was salient, but not both. Finally, the asymmetry of the thalamus predicted alpha band modulation when neither component of the task was perceptually demanding. In addition to delivering new insight into the subcortical circuity controlling alpha oscillations with spatial attention, our finding might also have clinical applications. We provide a framework that could be followed for detecting how structural changes associated with neurological disorders in subcortical regions can be reflected in the modulation of oscillatory brain activity. Gli ultimi in ordine cronologico sono stati i “5 Grappoli Grappa” attribuiti dalla prestigiosa Guida Bibenda (edizione 2023) a ben due Riserve di punta di Mazzetti d'Altavilla: “Incanto”, grappa ottenuta dalle vinacce di Nebbiolo dell'area a denominazione Barbaresco e lungamente invecchiata in pregiate essenze lignee, e “Gaia Mazzetti”, la portabandiera dell'aromaticità piemontese grazie al paziente affinamento in botti di Moscato e Cortese. Ma prima della selezione di Bibenda, il 2022 aveva già portato il record di medaglie ottenute finora da Mazzetti d'Altavilla in una sola edizione del Concorso Alambicco d'Oro: ben 6 fra Ori e Argenti che si sommano alle Medaglie d'Oro ai Grappa Award 2022 per la Riserva Segni, che effettua un invecchiamento in ben 6 botticelle di essenze lignee differenti per 5 anni e per l'ormai iconica “7.0”.

Hailing from the Okanogan Highlands of Washington state since 1975, Mazzetti is a Vietnam-Era veteran and received a Bachelor's of food science from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He has been an advocate for the medical and recreational use of cannabis since the 1970s. His views were originally influenced by books such as The Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer, and “Back to Eden” by Jethro Kloss'. While helping his mother battle lung cancer in 1982, Mazzetti recognized the benefits of using cannabis to help her maintain a quality of life as she died with dignity.

Cast in stone and bronze, sometimes embedded with strings or flashes of colour, and  fluctuating between hard and soft, light and dark, round and straight, solid and hollow, the spirit of Hepworth's work is at the spine of Spring and through Ali's incredible writing makes us SEE differently.  TACITA DEAN – SPRING Filmmaker and artist, Dean, seven-metre-wide work The Montafon Letter is a vast chalk drawing on nine blackboards joined together, looms in Spring (and is also an exhibition visited by the protagonist Richard at the Royal Academy). Dean says in some ways the work about Brexit and about hope; “hope that the last avalanche will uncover us”. Much like Smith's post-Brexit novels.  LORENZA MAZZETTI – SUMMER A new artist for me, this story of the Italian-born filmmaker who came of age in the 1960s is one of the most profound in the history of art. La comisión multipartidaria del Congreso encargada de investigar el caso de vacunación irregular elaboró un informe que recomienda nuevas denuncias contra Vizcarra, Mazzetti y Astete.

La subcomisión de acusaciones constitucionales del Congreso aprobó por mayoría el informe que recomienda la inhabilitación para la función pública del expresidente Martín Vizcarra, así como de las exministras de Salud, Pilar Mazzetti, y de Relaciones Exteriores, Elizabeth Astete.
