“Sales is never a quick process. The only way you can have a lasting sales relationship is to be honest, have a positive attitude, and hustle.” - Fred Shurtz Discover the Roadmap to New Business Success! In our latest episode of Scaling UP! H2O, host Trace Blackmore sits down with Fred Shurtz, owner of Precision Chemical, to explore the intricate roadmap of acquiring new business. Fred, a seasoned expert in the water treatment industry, shares his journey, challenges, and strategies that have led to his success. Here's a sneak peek into some of the valuable insights Fred offers in this must-listen interview. From Engineer to Entrepreneur: Fred's Career Journey Fred's journey began with an engineering degree and a pivotal role at NALCO in 1988. He emphasizes the unique advantage of a sales career: controlling your destiny. “When there's no ceiling, you can earn a lot of money if you treat people right and do the right thing,” Fred explains. He also highlights the importance of being a leader, stating, “You've got to be the person that people want to follow.” Sales: It's a Crockpot, not a Microwave Sales, according to Fred, is a long-term process that requires honesty, a positive attitude, and hustle. “It's never a quick process,” he notes, emphasizing that lasting sales relationships are built on these principles. The right technology also plays a crucial role in this equation. Earning Trust to Gain New Business Building trust is paramount. Fred listens attentively to his customers, understanding their needs through both words and body language. “If you are genuine with people and they have a need for what you have, then you'll make sales,” he explains. Fred stresses the importance of persistence, patience, and viewing every person at a facility as a potential door-opener. “If it's not a win-win, it's not worth doing,” he asserts. Client Surveys: Building Trust from the Start Fred emphasizes the importance of asking good questions, listening, and being attentive to clients' needs. Acting as an advocate and helper is essential in building trust with new clients. Crafting Proposals that Resonate Proposals should clearly demonstrate the benefits for the client. Fred believes in interactive presentations, using pen and paper to draw things out. “Hard selling doesn't work; you need to be a soft seller,” he advises, focusing on building partnerships rather than just making sales. Sustaining Client Relationships Over the Years Continuous engagement and feedback are essential. Fred emphasizes fulfilling promises and regularly checking in with clients to ensure their needs are being met. “It's all about the hustle,” he says, advocating for a proactive approach to client relations. In a positive start to the last week of 2023, the US market witnessed a rise despite low trading volumes. Major averages closed the Tuesday session with gains of half a percent each, and small-cap indices outperformed, recording a gain of more than 1%. The NASDAQ, dominated by tech stocks, hit a record high, while the broad-market index S&P is within striking distance of its record level. Banking heavyweights such as HDFC and Kotak Bank, along with Reliance Industries, played a crucial role in supporting the Nifty, helping it hold levels above 21,400. With Tuesday's gains, front-liners are now 1% away from their record levels earlier in the month. In the commodities market, the energy sector emerged as one of the best performers amid ongoing tensions in the Red Sea. Both Brent and WTI crude oil surged nearly 3% each to hit their highest levels in the last three weeks. Gold also saw an upward move, tracking a lower dollar and 10-year yield, trading just below the $2100 per ounce mark. Sectors to watch include metals, with stocks like Hindalco, Nalco, and Vedanta in focus as aluminum gained more than 3% overnight. Additionally, Adani Group stocks are in the spotlight due to fundraising plans.

In RO, you have one influent stream coming in, a product water stream that's very low in minerals, a high concentration stream that's low volume but very high concentration of dissolved solids, and it's a pressure-driven process. You use pressure to force the water through the membrane and the membrane retains the minerals and dissolved solids.” -Jane Kucera “There are six things that affect membrane performance: fouling, scaling, membrane degradation, temperature, pressure, and concentration.” -Jane Kucera Jane Kucera's advice for success: “Be proactive. Be your best advocate. Nobody's going to do it for you and if you wait around for somebody to do it for you, it's not going to happen. Indian indices — Sensex and Nifty 50 — are likely to open lower on May 24 following a very mixed set of queues from global indices. Indian markets too have been very range bound with a bit of volatility, especially in yesterday's last hour of trading session. US indices ended lower between 0.7 percent to 1.2 percent. Given the fact that there continues to be a stalemate regarding the US debt ceiling remit, European markets too ended lower. In the global handover overnight, crude oil prices gained a bit given the fact that a Saudi Energy Minister has warned speculators against short selling. On the back of that, Brent futures gained a percent to $76.8 a barrel. An important cue to watch out for today is the wind-down of the earnings season. Hindalco, Cummins India, NALCO, and Nykaa are among some of the companies expected to post their results today. Tune in to Marketbuzz Podcast for more news and cues to track in today's session

When you know that you need to hire someone, what do you look for? How do you know if the person you are interviewing is a good fit? What does your hiring process look like? In today's market, do you still find it easy for you to find the right person for an open position? If hiring the right person is something that you are struggling with, then this episode is for you. My lab partner today, Chris Bellizzi, is someone who has been coaching business owners for years on this topic, and this is something he is very passionate about. Chris Bellizzi started his career in the Water Treatment industry fresh out of college. After graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1994 from the University of Washington, he went on to work at NALCO. He started as a Sales Representative, and was promoted to District Manager three times and eventually became the Regional Manager in the middle market business sector at NALCO. Currently, Chris is the General Manager at EAI Water and the Managing Partner at ApHinity. ApHinity from EAI is a brand of technologies based on the science of chemical affinity. The technologies ApHinity offers play a critical role in the challenging water conservation, reuse, and recycling environments of today. Chris is also a Certified Legionella Water Safety and Management Specialist and a Certified Water Treater. Chris and his wife Elsa have four daughters - two of whom are now working in the water industry (not for Chris!), and he loves being able to “talk shop” with them. If you are a Water Treatment company owner or a hiring manager, this episode is for you! Chris will share with us why building trust and delivering results are the foundations of finding the right people for your company, the 10 traits that he looks for when interviewing someone, why setting expectations is important, and how perpetuating the OKG (our kind-of-guy / our-kind-of-gal) mentality made him and his team better Water Treaters! Bottom line: Chris Bellizzi will share with us his keys to hiring the best people for open positions at your company. Today, a very special colleague of mine came to the show: Charlie Heineman, CWT. Charlie and I first met when we took the Certified Water Technologist (CWT) Exam in Atlanta back in 2002. To date, Charlie is still an active member of AWT in the CWT and Business Resources committees. With more than 40 years of experience in the water treatment industry, Charlie started his water treatment career with Nalco Chemical Company (Basic Industry Group) as a Field Representative in Wichita, Kansas. After six years, Charlie was selected to start up Nalco's Utility Group in Dallas, Texas. Nalco's Utility Group (Dallas) grew from $100K sales to $4MM sales over the next seven years. In 2001, Charlie founded Precision Water Technologies in Dallas, Texas, and joined AWT in 2002. Charlie became a Certified Water Technologist in 2002. Aside from AWT, he is also a member of BOMA, IREM, and TAFE Associations. A United States Marine Corps veteran and the recipient of the Navy Cross of Gallantry Medal for combat operations in Vietnam, Charlie went back to college after two years of serving. He graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Education (Biology/Chemistry), and today he is on the show to share lessons he has gleaned over the years in the best industry in the world, industrial water treatment. Financial shares came to the rescue of the benchmark indices for the second straight day, as a selloff in select index heavyweights exerted pressure on the indices. The BSE Sensex index ended with a loss of 102 points at 60,822, after trading within a range of 61,420 and 60,551. The NSE Nifty50, on the other hand, settled 63 points lower at 18,115. That apart, LIC Housing Finance and Can Fin Homes declined 8 per cent each in the intra-day trade today after the announcement of their July-September quarter results. Further, shares of TVS Motor Company soared 10 per cent to Rs 632.85 on the BSE in Friday's intra-day trade on back of heavy volume after the company reported highest ever revenue, earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (ebitda) for the quarter ended September 2021 (Q2FY22). The stock of two and three-wheeler manufacturer had hit 52-week high of Rs 665.70 on May 27, 2021. Extending their winning streak into seventh straight session, benchmark indices closed at record closing peaks for the sixth day in a row amid stellar buying in PSU bank, metals, and IT stocks. The Nifty PSU Bank and Metal indices closed nearly 4 per cent higher while the Nifty IT index advanced 1.6 per cent on the National Stock Exchange as investors turned bullish on the sectors amid Q2 earnings season and rise in base metal prices. That apart, buoyancy in the Indian economy, increased domestic consumption, and industrial production nearing pre-Covid level further supported sentiment on the Street. According to reports, the Nomura Business Resumption Activity Index hit an all-time high of 108.8 for the week ended yesterday. This was higher than the 105-mark seen during the week. While labour participation increased to 41.6 per cent during the week, from 40.4 per cent, coal shortage led to a fall in power demand by 1.17 per cent. Overall, the 30-share BSE Sensex ended 459.64 points, or 0.75 per cent higher, at its new closing record of 61,766. It hit a lifetime high of 61,963 in the intra-day session. Similarly, the Nifty50 surged 138.5 points, or 0.76 per cent, to its all-time closing high 18,477 after touching a new intra-day record of 18,543 Infosys (up 4.47 per cent) was the top gainer in the Sensex pack, followed by Tech Mahindra, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, ITC, Maruti, SBI and Axis Bank. On the other hand, HCL Tech, M&M, Dr Reddy's, Asian Paints, Bajaj Auto and Bharti Airtel were among the laggards, falling up to 2.4 per cent. Among individual stocks, shares of HCL Tech slipped 3 per cent to Rs 1,215 apiece on the BSE in the intra-day trade today after the management reiterated its guidance of double-digit dollar revenue growth and 19-21 per cent earnings before interest tax (EBIT) margin for FY22, but it lowered its Products and Platforms (P&P) growth to 0-1 per cent from low-single digits. While the stock ended 2.4 per cent down, it has corrected 11 per cent from its record high level of Rs 1,377 touched on September 24, 2021. Separately, shares of HDFC Bank 1 per cent to close at Rs 1,670 on the BSE as the lender's higher-than-expected restructuring of loans in the July-September quarter made analysts cautious in the near-term. Shares of Avenue Supermarts, meanwhile, cracked 19 per cent from record high level of Rs 5,900 per share hit in the intra-day trade to touch a low of Rs 4,850 on the back of profit booking. The company on Saturday had reported a twofold increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 417.76 crore for the second quarter ended September 2021 (Q2FY22) and reported revenue growth of 47 per cent year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 7,789 crore. About 1602 shares have advanced, 1504 shares declined, and 118 shares are unchanged on the BSE. The Nifty Bank index, too, hit a fresh record high of 38,779 earlier today. It closed at 38,636, up 0.3 per cent. The only sectoral loser was Nifty Realty, which fell by 0.24 per cent. Infrastructure and metal stocks, such as SAIL, Hindustan Zinc, Nalco, and Jindal Steel rose between 3.8 and 5 per cent today, after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Rs 113-trillion infrastructure development and multi-modal connectivity programme 'Gati Shakti'. In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap index outperformed the benchmarks. The index closed with gains of 1.62 per cent at 26,572 levels after hitting a fresh lifetime high of 26,590 in the intra-day trade. The BSE Smallcap index added 0.6 percent. Aviation stocks rose today after the Civil Aviation Ministry decided to restore the scheduled domestic air operations from October 18 without any capacity restriction. The stock of SpiceJet ended 3.4 per cent higher, while that of IndiGo surged 5.9 per cent, before ending 1 per cent lower on profit-booking. Coming to stock-specific moves, shares of Tata Motors surged over 21 per cent as an investment worth $1 billion, by TPG Rise Climate and Abu Dhabi's ADQ in the company is set to unlock value for the Tata Group company's electric vehicle (EV) business. Shares of Avenue Supermarts, owner of D-Mart retail chain, crossed the Rs 5,000 mark for the first time as they rallied 18 per cent. The stock ended 7.8 per cent higher. Meanwhile, shares of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries hit an over five year high of Rs 846.80, up 2 per cent on expectation of strong revenue growth, to close up 1.3 per cent. That said, the stock of Wipro rose 2 per cent today, while that of Infosys was up 1.2 per cent. Both the companies announced robust earnings growth for Q2FY22. While Wipro reported a 19 percent jump in consolidated net profit to Rs 2,930 crore for the second quarter ended September, Infosys reported a 12 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 5,421 crore. Going into trade on Thursday, the markets will continue to focus on corporate earnings for the quarter ended September. Various companies including HCL Technologies, Cyient, Mahindra CIE Automotive, Indiabulls Real Estate, GTPL Hathway and Den Networks will detail their Q2 numbers on October 13. Lastly, global markets, stock-specific moves as well as news related to Covid-19 will be among other major triggers for investors.
A pullback in large-cap stocks dragged benchmark indices away from record high levels on Wednesday. The S&P BSE Sensex plunged 581 points from its record high level of 57,919 to end at 57,338 while the Nifty50 retreated from its all-time high level of 17,226 to end at 17,076. Profit booking was seen in information technology counters after a recent outperformance, along with underperformance in the metal pack on China disappointment. China's factory activity slipped into contraction in August for the first time in nearly one and a half years as Covid-19 containment measures, supply bottlenecks and high raw material prices weighed on output in a blow to the economy. And as China is the world's third largest metal importer, contraction in the manufacturing activity soured sentiment on Dalal Street. The Nifty Metal index fell 2 per cent with Tata Steel, Nalco, Hindalco, and Jindal Steel falling up to 3 per cent. That apart, mixed trends in the auto pack also grabbed eyeballs on the bourses on Wednesday. M&M, Maruti Suzuki, and Hero MotoCorp declined up to 3 per cent on the bourses, and analysts believe the underperformance is likely to continue. The sector is grappling with multiple headwinds that include semiconductor shortage, rising input costs and competition from the electric vehicle (EV) segment. According to analysts at Jefferies, chip shortages have already started to hurt Indian auto production where companies such as Maruti, Bajaj Auto and Royal Enfield have seen an increased impact in the September quarter. That apart, raw material costs have been another sore point for the Indian automakers. Indian steel prices, according to reports, are at an all-time high of Rs 67,500/tonne, which is 5 per cent above their June quarter average. Spot aluminum price at $2,674/tonne is also 12 per cent higher than the June quarter average. Against this backdrop, A K Prabhakar, head of research at IDBI Capital says that though the stocks' valuations are attractive, auto stocks will continue to remain under pressure. Additionally, G Chokkalingam, founder and CIO, Equinomics Research opines that chip shortage, rising fuel costs for consumers and firm input costs for auto manufacturers will keep the demand in check. And, as a result, most of the auto stocks will underperform in the second half of FY22. With this bearish commentary from analysts, performance of the autos will be on investor radar on Thursday. Weekly expiry of F&O contracts, stock-specific news flow, outcome of the OPEC+ meeting, and foreign fund flow will be some of the other factors guiding the markets today. Also, adjustment to 100 per cent peak margin norms may add volatility. In the primary market, public issues of Vijaya Diagnostic and Ami Organics will enter their second day today. Yesterday, the former's IPO had been subscribed just 30 per cent while the latter's IPO had sailed through, backed by strong retail and QIB support.
You may be the world's two largest Water Companies, yet have quite a terrible track record when it comes to Mergers and Acquisitions.
Equity markets resumed their upward journey after a one-day hiatus on Wednesday, as investors looked past overnight weakness on Wall Street and focused on stock-specific developments. The S&P BSE Sensex jumped 193.5 points, or 0.37 per cent, to end the volatile session at a new closing peak of 53,055 levels while the NSE's Nifty50 shut shop at 15,880, up 61 points or 0.39 per cent. In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices rallied 0.58 per cent and 0.38 per cent, respectively. Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Bajaj Finserv, Hindalco, UPL, Nestle India, HDFC, IndusInd Bank, and Adani Ports ended as the top gainers on the benchmarks, up between 1 per cent and 5 per cent. On the downside, Titan Company, ONGC, SBI Life, Maruti Suzuki, Shree Cement, and Reliance Industries were the top laggards, down up to 2 per cent. Among these, shares of Tata Steel jumped 5 per cent on the NSE after the company estimated Rs 10,000-12,000 crore per annum capex plan over the next 5 years, excluding potential acquisitions. The company further intends to reduce gross debt by over $2 billion in FY22 as against a $1 billion annual debt reduction target set earlier. On the flipside, shares of Titan Company, the other Tata Group firm, dipped 3 per cent to Rs 1,717.55 on the BSE in intra-day trade, but settled 2 per cent lower, after its quarterly business update of Q1FY22 highlighted that healthy growth trajectory sustained till mid-April 2021 until lockdown disrupted demand. The company recorded a revenue growth of around 117 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in Q2 with revenue contribution of nearly 50 per cent, 10 per cent and 40 per cent coming from April, May and June months, respectively. The figure was, however, down 60 per cent on a quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) basis. Sectorally, realty and metal indices rose 2 per cent each as unsold real estate inventory declined further in Q2CY21 and as Tata Steel's capex plans gave a sentimental push to peer stocks. Besides, expectations that higher export orders and lower raw material prices may support profitability margins of steel players during the current financial year 2021-22 (FY22) also boosted sentiment. Sobha, Brigade Enterprises, Godrej Properties, and Indiabulls Real Estate from the realty pack and Hindalco, Jindal Steel, JSW Steel, SAIL, Tata Steel, and Nalco from the metal pack advanced between 2 per cent and 6 per cent on the NSE. Meanwhile, all other key sectoral indices gained up to 0.6 per cent each, except the Nifty Auto index, which slipped 0.07 per cent. In the primary market, the three-day initial public offers of GR Infraprojects and Clean Science and Technology sailed through on Day 1. GR Infra's issue was subscribed 2.18 times till 4:30 PM while that of Clean Sciences was subscribed 1.64 times. Global markets US equity-index futures rose along with stocks in Europe as investors awaited minutes from the Federal Reserve's latest meeting for clues on policy makers' thinking on interest rates and stimulus. The Stoxx Europe 600 Index climbed 0.6 per cent, led by gains in commodity sectors. In Asia, stocks fell with Chinese tech firms in Hong Kong retreating after Beijing's cybersecurity probe. Hang Seng declined 0.4 per cent, Japan's Nikkei tumbled 0.96 per cent, and South Korea's Kospi slipped 0.6 per cent.
Macroeconomic data, the pace of vaccination, auto sales and global trends would be the major drivers for the domestic equity markets this week, analysts said. Besides, the progress of the monsoon will also remain on investor radar. The benchmark indices had ended the eventful week over 1% higher and analysts remain cautiously optimistic on further upmove in the market, although a third wave of Covid can dent sentiments, they say. While the number of Covid cases in India is on a downtrend, concerns about a new Covid variant loom. India in the last 24 hours reported cases a little over 50,000. The pace of vaccination in the country, too, has picked up the pace with some 4 crore jabs administered last week. Investors will keep a close watch on the vaccination pace and Covid cases going ahead. On the macro front, the print for manufacturing activity PMI is scheduled for July 1 which would give investors a fair idea around the revival of ground-level sentiment. That apart, investors will also eye auto sales figure which will start pouring in from the same day. India Inc, meanwhile, will enter the last leg of earnings season this week, with over 1700 companies slated to post their quarterly numbers. SpiceJet, Hindustan Motors, Suzlon Energy, Rail Vikas Nigam, Ruchi Soya Industries, NBCC (India), NALCO and Hindustan Aeronautics are among the companies which are going to announce their quarterly earnings this week. Furthermore, two companies will list on the bourses on June 28, namely Dodla Dairy and Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences. The two IPOs that ran between June 16-18 were subscribed 46 times and 4 times, respectively. Lastly, investors will also track oil price movement, rupee's trajectory and FII flows for further cues. And now, let's take a look at the trade setup for today. Asia stocks were steady with investors weighing the pace of economic recovery against more potent Covid-19 strains and central banks mulling stimulus reductions. Japan's Topix index rose 0.1%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 Index fell 0.4% and Kospi index was little changed. Amid this backdrop, early indications suggested a positive start for the benchmark indices with SGX Nifty ruling 31 points higher at 15,902. A look at the stock-specific triggers that are likely to guide the market today. More than 300 companies are slated to post their quarterly numbers today including NALCO, Future Lifestyle, Zee Media, GIC Housing Finance and NLC India. Shareholders of InterGlobe Aviation, parent of airline IndiGo, have approved a proposal to raise up to Rs 3,000 crore. The funds would be raised through the Qualified Institutional Placement route. Private sector IndusInd Bank has acquired over 70 lakh shares in tea company Mcleod Russel after invoking pledged shares of the company to recover its dues. A sharp drop in daily Covid-19 cases perked up bulls on Dalal Street on Monday as investors hoped for a sooner-than-expected taper down of the second wave. However, even though the new case count, at over 366,000 and 3,754 deaths, were off a little from recent peak, it came on the back of 1.47 million tests for Covid-19 which were this month's lowest yet. Nonetheless, domestic equity indices started gap-up and remained parked near the day's high level for the better part of the day. Among the frontline indices, the BSE barometer of 30-shares hit an intra-day high of 49,617 before ending the session at 49,502 levels, up 296 points or 0.6 per cent. About seven of the 30 constituents ended the day in the red including UltraTech Cement, Infosys, HCL Tech, Reliance Industries, Asian Paints, Bajaj Finserv, and Axis Bank. The stocks declined up to 1.3 per cent. On the upside, L&T, Dr Reddy's Labs, Sun Pharma, NTPC, PowerGrid, and IndusInd Bank were the top index gainers, up between 2 per cent and 4 per cent. On the NSE, the Nifty50 index reclaimed the crucial 14,900-mark and extended its rally to as high as 14,967 during the day. It ended the day at 14,942 levels, up 119 points or 0.8 per cent, riding on the back of gains in Coal India, UPL, Hindalco, Indian Oil Corporation, Tata Motors, L&T, and Divis Labs. These stocks rallied up to 8 per cent. Consequently, MOIL, NMDC, Coal India, Hindalco, Nalco, Vedanta, and Tata Steel jumped up to 8 per cent on the NSE today. Meanwhile, all other sectoral indices were up in the range of 0.02 per cent (Nifty IT index) to 1.6 per cent (Nifty Auto index). Overall, the market breadth favoured bulls in the ratio of 2:1 aided by an outperformance in the broader markets. The S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices gained 1 per cent each today. Individually, shares of sugar manufacturers and their allied companies continued their northward movement on Monday, ralling up to 75 per cent in the past one month on positive outlook. The sugar industry, analysts say, is well poised to benefit from, both, global and domestic factors such as tight global demand-supply situation, favourable policies, push for higher ethanol blending in India and higher ethanol capacity addition. Dhampur Sugar Mills, Praj Industries, Dwarikesh Sugar Industries and Triveni Engineering & Industries rallied in the range of 14 per cent to 19 per cent on the BSE in the intra-day trade today while Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries, Uttam Sugar Mills, Avadh Sugar and Balrampur Chini Mills were up between 9 per cent and 10 per cent. >> That apart, shares of Hindustan Copper hit an over eight-year high and were locked in the upper circuit of 10 per cent at Rs 189.20 on the BSE on expectations of improved demand outlook. The stock of the state-owned copper company has rallied 25 per cent in the past three trading days. It was quoting at its highest level since November 2012. A sharp fall overnight in the mother market may pressure the domestic indices in today's session. The SGX Nifty was trading 110 points down at around 11,430 levels at 7:30 AM, indicating a gap-down open for the Indian markets today. Wall Street's main indexes closed sharply lower overnight, making their deepest one-day declines since June as investors dumped the high-flying technology sector. Overall, the Dow Jones fell 2.78 per cent, the S&P 500 lost 3.5 per cent, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped 4.96 per cent. Asian stocks also declined in early trades although the losses were contained in comparison to Wall Street. Australian ASX 200 lost 2.5 per cent in early trading while Japan's Nikkei and Korea's Kospi fell 1 per cent each. Back home, the report that Silver Lake is in talks to take a $1 billion stake in Reliance Retail may cushion the benchmark indices' likely fall. According to the report by the Financial Times, the investment comes as Reliance Retail is aiming to sell about 10 per cent in new shares. Besides these, market participants will today focus on stock-specific moves, Covid-19 related newsflow, foreign fund flow and the Rupee's trajectory. India yesterday recorded its highest-ever single-day spike of 84,156 in new coronavirus cases. The total now stands at north of 39 lakh. Death toll has now reached 68,569. Meanwhile, Delhi government has now allowed hotels, restaurants and clubs in the national capital to serve liquor on a trial basis from September 9 to 30, albeit with strict Covid-19 distancing norms. On the results front, a total of 68 companies including Nalco, Future Retail, and Jubilant Life Sciences, are scheduled to announce their June quarter earnings today. And now, a quick look at other top news of the day. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman yesterday told banks to put in place by September 15 loan restructuring schemes to rescue all viable business units affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Moreover, finance ministry officials told bankers the ministry was in touch with the RBI to ensure that the regulator provided assistance to them in the resolution process. The Supreme Court on Thursday said those accounts that had not been declared non-performing assets as on August 31 should not be declared bad loans until the case was disposed of. The court will continue hearing the pleas in the moratorium extension case on September 10. The Enforcement Directorate is investigating a money laundering case against GVK Group, its chairman and promoter G V K Reddy, and others for alleged irregularities involving Rs 705 crore in the development of Mumbai International Airport. The stock may thus trade actively in today's trade. Vodafone Idea is, once again, expected to be in focus ahead of today's board meet to consider fund raising. The six wound-up schemes of Franklin Templeton have received Rs 1,498 crore from maturities, prepayments and coupon payments in the last two weeks of August, the fund house has said. With this, the total cash flow into these schemes since the day of suspension has increased to Rs 6,486 crore.

When choosing a location, data centers often look for a location close to their end customers and one where there's cheap electricity. Water was an afterthought, said Pedro Sancha, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Nalco Water, but that's beginning to change. With water needed to cool the data center, companies were bringing in Nalco after realizing they didn't have the right permits or hadn't worked out a way to bring in water effectively at all. Now it's a main consideration when constructing the data center in the first place. “They're more proactive. They're starting to engage us early in the process before they even decide where they're going to build a data canter,” Sancha said. Some are thinking big, like the Nalco client taking water from nature, utilizing it, cleaning it and putting it back into the world. Others are simply looking to be a bit more environmentally friendly or better understand how to lower costs. Many data centers are still using potable water, competing with average citizens for the general water supply. “We do have technologies that help you optimize your cooling systems. Beyond choosing the right locations and the right cooling technology, there are ways existing data centers already can significantly reduce their water use,” Sancha said. “The irony is we need a lot of water to cool those data centers and support the technology revolution, but we also can use that technology to manage water in a smart way. That's the full circle.” Like the water cycle that brings us the precious resource to earth, it's possible technology will help us create a positive loop, as well. For now, we can take heart that data centers are beginning to consider the implications of their setup on the aquatic world.

Global markets are flat to lower this morning. On Wall Street, the main US stock indexes lost momentum in overnight trade as investors digested a report that an experimental antiviral drug for the coronavirus flopped in its first randomized clinical trial. At the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 0.17 per cent, while the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite ended slightly in the red. Asia equities were largely lower early Friday. Japan’s Nikkei and Hong Kong's Hang Seng index were both down over 1 per cent each while Australia’s ASX 200 was up half a per cent. The SGX Nifty was down nearly 120 points at 7 AM, so the Indian markets might open open gap-down today. In commodities, Brent rose 4.7 per cent to settle at $21.33 a barrel. A major event investors will track today will be the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to finalise a second stimulus package. According to reports, the upcoming package will again be aimed at the urban and rural poor; other disadvantaged sections of society; MSMEs; and some of the worst-affected sectors. A separate report says the government has decided to suspend insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings for at least six months owing to challenges businesses are facing due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In another major news, Franklin Templeton Mutual Fund yesterday decided to wind up six of its debt schemes oriented towards high-yield investments citing continued redemption pressure and lack of liquidity in the debt markets. Meanwhile, India's tally of coronavirus cases moved up to 23,039 and 721 deaths. Globally, over 27 lakh people have so far been infected, according to Worldometer. The Confederation of Indian Industry has painted a grim picture for the Indian economy's future due to the pandemic and said that India's GDP growth will remain between -0.9 per cent and 1.5 per cent in FY21. In corporate results, Bharti Infratel yesterday posted a 6.89 per cent year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 649.50 crore for the Q4 while consolidated revenue came in at Rs 3,624 crore. Today, Mindtree is slated to announce its March quarter results. The company is expected to take a hit on most of its verticals due to disruptions caused by Covid-19 with higher impact on the company's Travel and Hospitality vertical due to travel bans and restrictions. Yesterday, market regulator, Sebi, eased the 12-month cooling-off period that companies have to observe between buybacks and equity fundraising. It also eased valuation norms for the mutual fund industry, allowing valuation agencies to make exceptions if there is a default by a corporate bond issuer because of the lockdown. And the last bit of news is that the Bharat 22 ETF scheme has been rebalanced in accordance with its underlying index and will be effective from April 27. According to reports, Axis Bank, NALCO and BEL would benefit the most from the move while SBI, GAIL and Powergrid Corporation could witness the maximum outflows. Read by: Kanishka Gupta

The last batch of September quarter earnings, global cues, and macro data will be the top factors that investors will watch for market direction in this holiday-truncated week. Equity markets will remain shut on November 12 for Guru Nanak Jayanti. Over 2,700 companies will announce their results this week including Britannia Industries, Aurobindo Pharma, Bharti Airtel, ONGC, and NALCO. Today, a total of 272 companies, including Hindalco and Coal India are scheduled to announce their September quarter results. In terms of macro numbers, industrial production data and manufacturing production data for September 2019 are scheduled to be released later in the day. Further, retail inflation is slated to be announced tomorrow, while WPI Inflation for October is scheduled to be released on Thursday. The domestic market came under heavy selling pressure in the last hour of the session on Friday. The S&P BSE Sensex lost 330 points to settle at 40,324.On the NSE, the Nifty50 slipped below 12,000-mark to end at 11,908, down 104 points. According to analysts, traders should try to book profits at higher levels in Nifty. The 12,000 level will act as a major resistance level for the week, and 11,800 will act as support. However, if Nifty is able to breach the 11,800 level, it will led to sell-off which will open risk of correction up to 11,650. Therefore, traders should be cautious and should sell on higher levels every spike keeping close eye on 12,100 As for today, Asian shares edged higher on Monday after U.S. President Donald Trump said over the weekend that trade talks with China were moving along “very nicely”, though uncertainty remained over whether a deal would be signed this year. Japan's Nikkei was up 0.2 per cent, while Australian shares rose 0.5 per cent. However, South Korea's KOSPI was off 0.2 per cent. That left MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan 0.05 per cent firmer. SGX Nifty, though, was trading in the red in the early session, indicating a flat to negative start for domestic indices. In commodities, oil prices fell on Monday with Brent crude down 39 cents at $62.12 per barrel. And before we wrap up, here's a trading idea. CapitalVia Global Research Limited recommends buying Grasim Limited above Rs 802 for the target of Rs 870 with stop-loss placed at Rs 765.
La DEUXIEME SAISON DE FORCES MENTALES EST DISPONIBLE SUR http://forcesmentales.fr ! Red Universe Tome 1 Chapitre 29 Épisode 11 : « Visions (2) » « Bonjour Fabio < ouf > ! ———-SOUTENEZ REDUNIVERSE !
