Mike has written some classics: Profit First, The Pumpkin Plan, Fix This Next, and Get Different, just to name a few. Mike's body of work is beloved for one simple reason: they work. Today, we zoom in and hash out one of the fundamental ideas in his book Fix This Next, which he calls The Business Priority Pyramid. Mike believes that the biggest problem facing most entrepreneurs is that they don't actually know what their biggest problem is. And I would tend to agree. Think about it… How much time have you invested solving the wrong problems? How many hours and dollars have you wasted on stuff that seemed important but really wasn't in the grand scheme of things? Prioritization is arguably the most vital of entrepreneurial skills, and the Business Priority Pyramid is the most no-nonsense framework I've found to help us get better at it. The FBI began targeting Mike Glover, a former Green Beret who also worked for the CIA, after he founded a company that taught people how to be self-reliant. To Mike, the message was clear: The U.S. government will destroy anyone it cannot control. Why else would officials target a veteran who served 10 tours of duty, with five rotations in Iraq conducting elite operations? But Mike tells Glenn that this is happening all across the country: “The system is flawed,” and only a reset will fix it. He offers insight into the elite operations we are never told about, lifting the veil on the inner workings of the CIA and FBI, which he believes are acting like the enemy of the people. As a former Green Beret who worked closely with the CIA, he has personally seen how government bloat and corruption make situations like the 2012 Benghazi attack even worse. Plus, he explains why he is “100%” certain that Jeffrey Epstein was working with the intelligence community. But despite all he's seen and all the attacks against him, he's not backing down. As owner and CEO of Fieldcraft Survival, he teaches people how to be their own first responders and even survive a total disaster. His upcoming book, “Prepared: A Manual for Surviving Worst-Case Scenarios,” is a practical guide for resilience in the face of the apocalypse, which very well could happen sooner than later. The Miami Dolphins are facing the prospect of watching TE Mike Gesicki walk in free agency after a disappointing 2022 season. That season came as Gesicki played on the franchise tag and as the team reportedly declined several trade discussions over the course of the past year as well — leaving Gesicki to eat up cap space and not fit the offense. As the calendar flips to 2023, the question now can be asked which Miami Dolphins player could be "next"; a player destined to leave for cost purposes that the team may have seller's remorse on if they spurn trade offers this spring ahead of the 2023 season? “You have to put yourself out there and be willing to fail.” Mike Williston In the entrepreneurial journey, very little actually turns out exactly how it was initially expected to. That is why patience is key for survival and success in entrepreneurship. This is according to our guest today, Mike Williston, who also believes that every experience in entrepreneurship leads to something bigger. Mike Williston is both a co-founder and the CEO of Satellite Displays. He is a results-driven entrepreneur who thrives in early-stage startups. As CEO, he is responsible for taking an idea to reality in his quest to transform the way we communicate. Satellite Displays' created Badger, the world's first closed captioning smart badge that converts speech-to-text and translations in real-time. Badger can also translate in 50+ languages. His vision for the company is what excites his team to elevate to the next level. Mike's entrepreneurial journey started at a young age. In high school, Mike launched his first business venture, MGW Contracting, which he ran and operated throughout his undergrad at Monmouth University where he received a double major in Business Marketing and Management. At Monmouth, he was accepted into the accelerated MBA program and worked as a graduate assistant. After completing his MBA from Monmouth University, he jumped right into the start-up world at Compliance Wave. Here he was the first employee part of the Founding Team and Director of Lead Generation. After launching, Mike and his team rapidly grew the business which resulted in a successful acquisition in 4 years. Next Mike grew interested in manufacturing and began working with Orient Corporation of America, a 100+ year old Japanese manufacturer of dyes and pigment dispersions. While working for Orient, Mike began developing Badger. In August 2019, Mike left Orient to pursue Badger full time and his former employer, Orient, became one of the first early investors in his company Satellite Displays. Developing, creating and executing ideas is what gets Mike up in the morning, and if you're in the room with him, you'll want to learn more and participate in the journey. He makes problem solving fun for those who work with him. He enjoys building exceptional teams while helping everyone hit their personal goals. His family means everything to him, and their dinner conversations range from life goals to sports to business. He developed his competitive edge from playing sports growing up. Outside of work, you can still find him staying active in the gym or playing competitive basketball. And if it's a windy day, you can find him in the ocean kitesurfing… his favourite type of “board meeting.” In today's episode, Mike will elaborate on his passion for kite surfing as well as his entrepreneurial journey towards developing a tool that impact lives for the better. Listen in! Social Media Personal IG: @mgw31 Business IG: @hey.badger LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelwilliston/ Business LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/satellite-displays Start Engine Page: https://www.startengine.com/satellite-displays Facebook: @heybadger I've been kite surfing for about five years now and it's a really tight knit community of entrepreneurs. [2:52] Kite surfing because teaches you how to be patient which is a huge thing when it comes to being an entrepreneur. [3:53] We created a company called satellite displays and a created badge, which is the world's first closed captioning smart badge that translates or convert speech to text in real time. [5:05] It works just like a television where you can put closed captions on people in real time which is amazing because communications is really what's going to keep the world spinning. [7:16] A lot of businesses are formed when tragic things happen or there's a problem where we were building the badger when all of a sudden, the pandemic hit. [8:30] Due to wearing masks, all of a sudden people that had good hearing were now experiencing what it's like to not have good he [8:56] Using closed captioning is engaging to the person listening and watching so we're kind of trying to bring that into the real world. [10:57] There are so many stories where badger could have helped such as where translators are needed or when visiting a foreign country and there is language barrier. [11:54] It is all about the patience where you have to be willing to show up for the win and not be scared to fail. [14:37] Commercial break. [15:24] My secret for success is just constantly being confident and knowing that what I am doing is going to make a difference. [17:19] You have to put yourself out there and be willing to fail and to be critiqued while going out there and expressing your passion for what you're building. [17:42] Every experience that you have leads to something else and without that I couldn't have done badger and satellite di [19:55] I kept the relationships open with all of you and now, everything that I worked on back in 2011, is now coming to fruition in 2021, with badger and satellite displays. [20:05] If you have an idea, get it to market as fast as possible because without that feedback, you can't improve, innovate, or keep [22:40] Communication is a two way street where there's the person that is speaking and the person that is listening, and badger helps both. [24:44] Trust yourself, and keep going on with the journey because if you can stick this out, this is a hell of a ride and it's a lot of fun. Life on Fire TV (Audio) – Online Business Coaching With Nick Unsworth
Back for part 2, Mike Koenigs, multi-million dollar internet marketer, dives into how to connect with your audience. Audience connection, and as Mike puts it, “empathy” is the key to serving your ideal audience at the highest level. When you truly know and understand your ideal customer you are in the perfect position to give them exactly what they want and need. Mike breaks down is 10 by 10 by 4 model for how he takes other marketers through this process to help them discover how to connect with and serve their audience purposefully. From there he opens up on how to take the questions and discoveries you make in the 10 X 10 X 4 model and turn that into content for a podcast, blog posts, YouTube videos, or even a book! In MINUTES you’ve planned out a content strategy for an entire show or book! Next Mike walks us through how simple it is to become an Amazon bestseller and how he’s done it several times over with books that not only provide great value, but are actually easy to write (using his method) and that produce additional revenue (outside of book sales) through calls to action in each chapter. He even tells us how a 9 year old girl published 4 books 3 months using his method and how he wrote a book by dictating it to a recorder while laying on his side in the fetal position battling the worst stint of stage 3 cancer. If a 9 year old girl can write 4 books in 3 months, and Mike can get a book written under those circumstances, there’s really no excuse to keep the book that’s been hiding inside you there any longer. Nick even accepts the challenge to get the book he wants to write out in the next 30 days! If you’re not ready to take massive action after watching this 2 episodes and hearing all of Mike’s ideas, then you might want to check your pulse to see if you’re still alive! Head over to LifeOnFireTV.com to check out all of our interviews with top entrepreneurs, tips, and strategies to grow your business and your life! Mike Doyle, currently starring in Union Square, joins host Robin Milling for lunch at Cafe Blossom in New York's Greenwich Village. Mike chats about his role over a delicious vegan lunch of Quinoa salad with house-made kimchi, tofu scramble and garlic french fries; with signature herbal-infused cocktails like Tootsie Tree Hugger and In The Weeds. A graduate of Julliard, Mike has acted consistently in television and movies. Most recently on the small screen he played an anesthesiologist opposite Patrick Wilson's brain surgeon in A Gifted Man. In Union Square he plays Bill, engaged to Tammy Blanchard's Jenny, who plays Mira Sorvino's estranged sister. Despite being called 'Superman' by Sorvino, Mike's all American good looks have not typecast him. The Bronx born actor also plays the bad guy, dying on screen numerously. He has been featured buying it at least seven times on various television series. Doyle jokes that he calls his mother after his death scenes just to make sure she knows it's not real! Mike has also starred on the big screen in The Green Lantern as Ryan Reynolds' brother and talks about a possible sequel. Next Mike can be seen in the independent film Gayby and will return to television in The Good Wife.
Trey and Mike open this week looking at Senator John McCain's legacy in the American political system. Whether you gave money to his campaign like Mike, or disagreed with his policies like Trey, both Guys agree that McCain was a honest Senator who worked tirelessly for his vision of a better United States. The question remains how the Senators of the future will — or can — carry on that legacy. Next Mike and Trey turn to NAFTA renegotiation. It appears that Mexico and the U.S. are close to a bilateral deal. Canada, although it missed a deadline on Friday, could still be part of an agreement. It is unclear what all the specifics will be or if it will be a new multinational trade deal or two bilateral agreements. The Guys then turn to Trump and Google's spat this week. Trump accused Google of advancing Obama over himself and Google quickly fired back that it has followed an identical policy for all Presidents. This spat may have been good cover for the Google and MasterCard agreement coming out this week. Finally Trey and Mike turn to the ongoing legal questions surrounding 3D printing guns. As the stay continues on releasing them Trey argues it may be time to look to the history of pornography as a blueprint for how to address the issue. *Listener support helps make The Politics Guys possible*. This week the show kicks off with Mike and Trey talking about the July 4th North Korean Missile Test. The launch is important because it marks the first intercontinental ballistic missile successfully launched by North Korea and Kim Jung Un. Both Mike and Trey agree there are no great options, but that the options that do exist should rule military intervention off the table. Next Mike and Trey examine the recently concluded G20 summit. The two major points of interest are Trump's meeting with Putin and the response to the U.S. Exiting the Paris agreement. Mike and Trey also briefly look at Trump's proposal to create an “impenetrable Cyber Security unit” with Russia. After that, the Guys move on to the CNN / Trump feud. Both Trey and Mike agree that the item is mainly non-news, but that it represents a larger shift in political communication. The real story is the change to the news media and to the way politicians disseminate information. In short, Trump might be right that Tweeting is the “modern day presidential” thing to do, even if the Guys worry about the longer term effects. Finally the Guys examine the Illinois budget. The budget, which just passed after two years, brought a bit of disagreement between Mike and Trey. Mike arguing that states have a moral obligation to the poor and Trey arguing that lower taxes must be coupled with lower spending across the board.
