Dmitry Zlokazov is the head of product at Revolut, the $45 billion fintech giant operating in over 50 countries, serving more than 50 million customers, and producing some of the world's top product leaders. Dmitry shares his hard-won lessons, contrarian org design principles, and day-to-day practices that power Revolut's relentless shipping velocity, culture of ownership, and unparalleled “wow” product experience. What you'll learn:1. Revolut's unique organizational approach, where “product owners” manage cross-functional pods as “local CEOs,” with genuine end-to-end ownership and hiring/firing power2. How a radical, ultra-flat structure enables more than 150 product owners to maintain founder-level quality and velocity across dozens of parallel launches3. How Revolut maintains quality while shipping hundreds of features across over 50 countries4. Why Revolut favors “raw intellect and hunger” over experience, and how internal transfers (including ex-engineers and ops managers) become the company's most successful product leaders5. How Revolut's founders review every single UI shipped, and why this founder detail obsession scales rather than limits innovation6. Their framework for launching new products—from ideation, validation, and first user cohort to rapid “algorithmization” and scaling across countries7. In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Kyle Hebenstreit discuss:The evolving legal industry landscape due to institutional capital and Big Four involvementRising competition and channel fragmentation in legal marketingStrategic marketing approaches tailored to client personas and firm typesOperational and budgetary decisions that influence long-term law firm growth Key Takeaways:Private equity and institutional capital are transforming the legal industry, creating new acquisition and exit opportunities for small, consumer-facing law firms.Social media platforms like LinkedIn and Meta hold high potential for law firms, yet are underutilized, especially with organic content for referrals and paid campaigns for brand awareness.Law firms should begin their marketing strategy by analyzing successful recent clients and understanding how they found them before setting a marketing budget. When choosing a marketing partner, inquire about client-to-manager ratios, review actual KPIs, and check references, much like when hiring a full-time employee.

In this episode, Steve Fretzin and Belle Walker discuss:What process mapping is and how it varies from standard operating procedures. Including client touch points in your process map (not just in the standard operating procedure). The value process mapping has for a law firm. Getting started on process mapping for your legal business. Key Takeaways:When starting a process map, have a start point, an end point, and a name for the process map. If a process has concrete steps, that is just a list. If there are decisions that need to be made, a process map could be engaged to serve your goals. Become familiar with visual language - shapes that have meaning. There are many software products that can assist you with process mapping for your firm for little to no additional cost to your firm. "Process maps have value when you have decision points, options, and loops - conditions that need to be met." — Belle Walker Thank you to our Sponsors!LegalEase Marketing: https://legaleasemarketing.com/Moneypenny: https://www.moneypenny.com/us/Practice Panther: https://www.practicepanther.com/ Episode References: Book: The Hard Thing About Hard Things by Ben Horowitz: https://www.amazon.com/Hard-Thing-About-Things-Building/dp/0062273205 About Belle Walker: Belle Walker takes organizations from Friction to Function, recapturing lost efficiency and engagement by aligning ways of working with strategic goals. The Possibility Club podcast: Practical Bravery RESPONSIBLE HUSTLING! The worst of hustle culture is a toxic, mentally straining, alpha-bullshit race in which carnage is left in a trail behind the winner. Whatever winning is. The best of it is in the drive to continually innovate and to respond to need. It's not that strategic, but it gets things done and it moves things on. Sometimes that is exactly the energy needed to start something. My question to people in businesses and charities listening to this - what can you do to harness more of the best of it, when you're driving forward impact, whilst avoiding the negative behaviours? In this episode Richard Freeman meets serial entrepreneur, angel investor, host of the 'Back Yourself' podcast and CEO of Stakester - Tom Fairey. It doesn't make me an elite runner but it is a challenge, and it is hard, and I did achieve it. I got to the end of it and I was like, uh alright, and I stopped running. Just stopped running last year. And actually I got a lot of joy from running. But the goal was frustrating for me. Setting goals is a frustrating behaviour.” “I don't actually believe in building goals, I believe in building habits. I think the problem with goals are, as soon as you hit them you're not satisfied. When you build a habit, you start to learn about it as you go. Building habits leads to excellence and greater outcomes than you would've had initially if you'd just set yourself a goal.” “There's a lot of rubbish people out there, I'm not going to lie.” “If I retired tomorrow and left the startup world, my hope is that no-one would feel the impact, they'd just carry on. And that's not because I'm insignificant, it's because I've done a good enough job of preparing people to do their jobs independently.” The Army Reserve https://www.army.mod.uk/who-we-are/the-army-reserve/ “It sounds so obvious but people forget about it all the time: communicate for your audience. Stop talking where your audience isn't.” “I like hustle culture. I'd use the analogy of an athlete. Do you think anyone said to Kobe Bryant, when he was turning up in the gym at 4am before he went training, they said aw mate, you're working too hard, you're just training too hard. It's bollocks, no-one's saying to him afterwards, you're practising too much, you're getting too good at this. No-one says that. But the thing is, that's his choice. No-one's going to tell a musician how often they can play, that's their choice. But for some reason we have a problem with people doing it in business and we have to tell people how much they can work. Fuck you. If I want to work from 5am til 10pm that's my choice. And if I want the outcomes that I'm trying to achieve, I have to. And it may not be great for my work life balance, but it's my choice. It's not hustle culture, it's hustle choice.” “Fuckin' high-five.” ----------- This episode was recorded in January 2023 Interviewer: Richard Freeman for always possible Editor: CJ Thorpe-Tracey for Lo Fi Arts For more visit alwayspossible.co.uk

Welcome to another episode of The HERO Show. I am your host Richard Matthews (@AKATheAlchemist), and you are listening to episode 214 with Sean Campbell – Delivering Market Data, Clarity & Truth. Sean Campbell is the CEO and Co-Founder of https://www.cascadeinsights.com/ (Cascade Insights)—a market research firm that helps organizations seize opportunities in the B2B tech sector. Sean is also a well-regarded consultant, speaker, author, trainer, mentor, and educator. He has delivered talks for Fortune 50 companies and top-tier conferences around the world, and has written extensively on technology and business topics. He specializes in helping organizations find success and opportunity in the B2B tech sector via market research insights, smart strategy, and powerful messaging. Here's just a taste of what we talked about today:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PR-aO09gsaBvc76MUlCJzPe2roxRVO1v/view?usp=sharing (To Transfer Knowledge as a Superpower)Sean is pathologically incapable of learning something without the desire to teach it to somebody. His superpower involves consistently transferring knowledge to people. When he learns something, he wants to turn around and teach it. Now, this doesn't mean he's the only expert on the topic because, obviously, someone had to teach him. The duality is always involved in the process. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Tyn-_MQBgFLbz8OZ1rZh3pGE2i9xvQY-/view?usp=sharing (Cascade's Driving Force: To Tell The Truth)To tell the truth is Cascade's driving force. Their mission is to figure out the market truth and tell it to as many people as possible. Sean says this phrase to his clients all the time, "We're happy to tell the truth to as many people as you'll ask". They learn truths about the market and tell it to as many people as possible, meaning people inside the account under a nondisclosure. The end goal, is to make sure many people inside that company know what they have learned. Other Topics We Covered on the Show:We also talked about Sean's origin story. His passion for teaching and persistence of learning about technology led him to be who he is now in the marketing research space. Then, Sean shares what he learned from building and running his first business. Being responsible for everything around him has been Sean's fatal flaw in his business. He tries to conquer this flaw by putting it in God's hands. We get to know if Sean's fatal flaw, which is having the need to be responsible for everything, has impacted his ability to delegate. Clients who think they know it all have been the arch nemesis at Cascade Insights. Lastly, Sean's guiding principle is to think a lot about what to say and to who you are saying it. We talk with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Justin Barad about how virtual reality (VR) can address gaps in surgical education. Dr. Barad also shares the story of how he started Osso VR, a surgical training and assessment platform. --- EARN CME Reflect on how this Podcast applies to your day-to-day and earn AMA PRA Category 1 CMEs: https://earnc.me/6k3XVR --- SHOW NOTES In this episode, orthopedic surgeon Dr. Justin Barad and our host Dr. Eric Gantwerker discuss how virtual reality (VR) can address gaps in surgical education and Dr. Barad's journey of starting Osso VR, a surgical training and assessment platform. Dr. Barad starts by acknowledging that there is a misconception that VR is trying to replace traditional surgical training. He emphasizes that VR can supplement surgical education because it provides trainees with methods of objective assessment and increased opportunities to practice. In order to encourage adoption of this new technology, Dr. Barad cites the importance of finding common goals for better patient care and showing respect for previous systems of education. The story of Osso VR started from a recognized need for more breadth and volume of cases in surgical residencies. Dr. Barad highlights the inefficient nature of waiting for random chance to bring different types of cases to arrive in the operating room, as opposed to practicing on a wide variety of cases through VR. He emphasizes that high accessibility of VR is more important than trying to achieve extreme fidelity in replicating surgical instruments. Finally, we discuss how surgery requires more cognitive skills than ever before, and how VR can help train surgeons to form plans, make decisions, and manage teams. --- RESOURCES Osso VR: https://www.ossovr.com/ Video games and surgical ability: a literature review: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20630431/ “The Hard Thing About Hard Things” by Ben Horowitz: https://www.amazon.com/Hard-Thing-About-Things-Building/dp/0062273205

More energy dense, faster charging batteries. Batteries, or any energy storage of all natures, are so critical to the ongoing energy and mobility transitions. One of the areas that doesn't get much thought, but is so critical, is material science, the materials which enable bigger, better, faster, more efficient batteries. This week I speak to Francis Wang, CEO of Nanograf. From PhD to entrepreneur and CEO, he has a great story to tell, and some superb insights into both the startup entrepreneurial journey, and the whole battery industry. I hope you enjoy the episode. About Francis Wang: Francis serves as the Chief Executive Officer for NanoGraf Technologies, a leading advanced materials company in the energy storage space. He brings over 20 years of experience in technology innovation and commercialization in the energy storage and clean energy spaces. Prior to NanoGraf Technologies, Francis was a founder and Director of Energy Storage Center at the National Institute of Clean Energy in Beijing, China from 2010-2015. Francis's experience in energy storage spans a range of magnitudes from very small (uW-mW) forms of storage for portable electronics and medical applications to very large (kW-MW) for transportation and the grid. He has held positions in some of the world's largest battery, consumer products and energy companies, including Duracell, Proctor & Gamble, Gillette, Boston Scientific and the Shenhua Group. Francis received his Ph.D. in 1998 from the Department of Chemistry at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He is the author of over 45 US and International patents, over 20 scientific publications and a recipient of the National Thousand Talents award in Energy Storage. True Ventures Chief Operating Officer, Jim Stewart, on what it's like to take four companies public, what goes into the operations to run a venture capital firm, how to take calculated risks, and what to do when you realize that you've just violated US government export controls when you're doing an IPO roadshow (don't panic).True Ventures is a venture capital firm with an astonishing track record of investing in the best companies like Peleton, Fitbit, Ring, Duo Security, Automattic, and Sweetgreen, which just went public on the New York Stock Exchange.Jim initially joined True Ventures as CFO in 2012 and now leads all operations as the firm's COO. He brings substantial operational and financial experience to venture-backed tech and biotech companies. Jim has held numerous operating and CFO positions, leading four companies through their IPO processes. When he is not focused on operations, he's doing all sorts of high-octane activities like racing his Yamaha R6 motorcycle.Ben Horowitz's Book, The Hard Thing About Hard Things - https://www.amazon.com/Hard-Thing-About-Things-Building/dp/0062273205True Ventures - https://trueventures.comJim Stewart - https://www.linkedin.com/in/james-stewart-b1b10320/Episode Webpage - https://betweentwocoos.com/jim-stewart-true-ventures-coo Episode Transcript - https://betweentwocoos.com/jim-stewart-true-ventures-coo /#transcriptMichael Koenig - https://linkedin.com/in/mkoenig514
We kick off Season 9 with a classic: Part I of the a16z story. How did this brand new venture firm charge out of the gates in 2009, going from zero to disrupting the entire venture industry overnight? You probably know Marc & Ben's history with Netscape and Loudcloud/Opsware... but what about the Black Panthers, Nintendo 64, Al Gore, Doug Leone, Masayoshi Son, and an epic feud with Benchmark Capital that became Silicon Valley's version of the Hatfields and the McCoys? Buckle up, Acquired's got the truth. If you love Acquired and want more, join our LP Community for access to over 50 LP-only episodes, monthly Zoom calls, and live access for big events like emergency pods and book club discussions with authors. We can't wait to see you there. Join here at: https://acquired.fm/lp/ Sponsors: Thank you to Pilot for being our presenting sponsor for all of Acquired Season 9! Pilot takes care of startups' bookkeeping, tax and CFO services so busy founders can focus on what matters, which is building the company. To paraphrase Jeff Bezos's famous AWS analogy: bookkeeping and tax don't make your product any better — so you should let Pilot handle them for you. In fact Pilot is backed by Bezos himself via Bezos Expeditions, along with an all-star roster of other investors including Sequoia, Index, and Stripe. They are truly the gold standard for startup bookkeeping, and many of the companies we work with run on them. You can get in touch with Pilot here: https://bit.ly/acquiredfmpilot , and Acquired listeners get 20% off their first 6 months! In my conversation with Fred we cover a wide range of topics including why your first business goal should be to make $1 of profit, taking your marketing mastery and turning it into a process and frameworks that you can use make the best decisions for your business.Fred also tells a great story of how he ran over the Manhattan Bridge to secure a whiteboard for his new office for $8 from Craigslist and there is a great business lesson to learn from this story. So please enjoy this wide ranging conversation with Fred Schebesta. What you will learn in this episodeWays that you can make the best decisions for your businessWhy it's important for business owners to save money where they canLessons from Fred setting up international offices in US, Canada, UK and other countriesWhy your first business goal should be to make $1 of profitWhy you need to pay your staff wellHow to show your employees that you care about themFred's advice if you are just starting a business (you need to separate yourself from your company and look at it objectively)Why you need to focus on your own strengthsTake your marketing mastery and turn it into a processHow Fred manages his time between so many exciting projects and responsibilitiesHow Fred has leveraged video to build his personal brandHow Fred learns new skillsQuotes"I believe that the world's a better place when it's well-informed to make decisions. With that premise, I Co-founded Finder. We're trying to better all the world's decisions.""If you separate yourself from your business and look at it objectively, you can start to take actions that are objectively good for the business. *Do what's best for your business."When starting a business, you need to focus on your own strengths. Take your marketing mastery and turn it into a process.I'm engaging in the mastery of video, and therefore translating that into processes and systems that Finder can use. The internet is full to the brim with answers. "In the beginning, I made so many mistakes and they really hurt. They are the scars that you wear that no one else can see, but you can feel them. ""The moments when you are outside your comfort zone is when you tend to fail, but that's the moment where you can find the most incredible opportunities. Those are the moments in time when you're feeling so much anxiety and duress, that if you can just put your head up and look around, you will see the greatest opportunities. ""If you're not growing and not feeling uncomfortable, you're not pushing hard enough. We are picking right back with Mark and Ben's interview with Matthew Barnett on this episode of The Friday Habit. Matthew continues to expand on his vision for customer service, being accessible and hospitable to every customer (or potential customer) who contacts your team. His approach is data-driven, recognizing that satisfied customers come back and buy more or new products and they also recommend your products or services to others. A great next step in improving your customer experience is visually mapping out their journey with you, taking note of the touchpoints, typical conversion points, and any gaps that you could look into filling. You can also reach out to advocates of yours or loyal customers for their feedback on the customer experience. Matthew recognizes that many people are hesitant or unsure about starting a business because of the unknowns, but he says that the best way to get into the market is just to do it. Start a website, post a few products, and see what happens. If you have a good idea, you will know pretty quickly based on the demand, but if you don't attract customers after a little while, you might need to have an honest conversation with yourself about the feasibility of the type of company you want to have. You might need to take a step back and offer people what they really want or need as a milestone along the path to where you eventually want to end up. Finally, Matthew emphasizes the importance of setting up a culture and having scheduled team meeting, especially for global teams. Outside of work, he tries to read a book per week and he is a part of a founders group that serves as a mastermind of sorts, which is a great resource and source of accountability for him and the other members.Links:https://www.bonjoro.com/videofunnelplaybook “The Lost and Founder”: https://www.amazon.com/Lost-Founder-Painfully-Honest-Startup/dp/0735213321 “The Hard Thing About Hard Things”: https://www.amazon.com/Hard-Thing-About-Things-Building/dp/0062273205“Traction”: https://www.amazon.com/Traction-Get-Grip-Your-Business/dp/1936661837 “Viral Loop”: https://www.amazon.com/Viral-Loop-Facebook-Businesses-Themselves/dp/1401323499 Connect with Matthew:https://www.verbate.com/https://www.bonjoro.com/https://au.linkedin.com/in/mbjbarnettConnect with us:https://www.thefridayhabit.com/thefridayhabit@knapsackcreative.com https://www.instagram.com/benjaminmanleyhttp://www.benjaminmanley.com/https://www.brandvivamedia.com/https://www.facebook.com/Marklab2https://www.linkedin.com/in/marklab2/

Who said tools and techniques don’t transfer from different industries? Whether you’re in health & wellness or marketing, there are always tips and tricks you can take away from a CEO. In today’s episode, we chat with Gina Michnowicz, who is the CEO at The Craftsman Agency. Today we are talking about a whole gamut of things – from how to have shareable content on social media to how to hire and fire employees or freelancers. But for majority of this conversation, we discuss how to be a leader in your business. Whether you are completely solo in your business or you’ve hired freelancers or contractors to do some work, you need to be a leader. Because even your clients need to be led! In this episode we discuss: - your brand is your culture (and everyone needs to be on board, including your clients!) - the blueberry theory: how one bad blueberry can ruin the whole container - what you need to look for when hiring a contractor or freelancer - keeping it simple if you have to let someone go - what it takes to be a servant leader A lot of what we discussed today can certainly translate to your relationships with your clients. So even if you’re nowhere near hiring an employee or a contractor, you’ll find value in knowing how to be a leader to your clients. And when you are ready to sign someone on to do some work, you’ll know what to look for to grow your team. Gina is a hands-on, fully engaged, client-focused CEO. She built her career intentionally, gaining experience in a variety of disciplines and going deep in marketing and sales within brands, agency, and management consulting. She thinks both strategically and creatively, leading the team to push the envelope with work that both surprise and intrigue audiences in both B2B and B2C markets. Gina’s expertise in brand, digital, and social media has won engagements with clients like Cisco, Disney, 20th Century Fox, Paramount, and Microsoft. For these and other brands, she has led teams from concept to delivery of immersive digital experiences, experiential installations, websites, and bespoke advertising campaigns as the Executive Creative Director. The Hard Thing About Hard Things: Building a Business When There Are No Easy Answers (https://www.amazon.com/Hard-Thing-About-Things-Building-ebook/dp/B00DQ845EA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1544477430&sr=8-1&keywords=the+hard+thing+about+the+hard+things),其中大段讲述了2000年泡沫危机时他所面临的艰难抉择。 Enjoy! James White on the Unique Challenges to Success in the Software Sector You’ve heard it before… the software sector is becoming more competitive by the day … and you need to adapt or die! I think most of us understand this. But it can be hard to figure out exactly HOW we should adapt. And the contradictory advice out there doesn’t help. This is of course a big topic, and it’s one we’re going to cover in more detail in future episodes. But today, I wanted to at least kick-start that discussion in a dramatic way. My guest is James White, the UK’s leading prospect conversion expert and sales mentor, and the co-author of the book Sales Genius 1: 20 top sales professionals share their sales secrets. Our conversation may not answer all your questions. But I hope it gets you thinking in the right direction - and that it sets the stage for additional episodes on this important topic. Also, James has kindly offered to give away 5 FREE COPIES OF HIS BOOK (Sales Genius 1: 20 top sales professionals share their sales secrets) to BOSS-IT listeners. If you’d like a copy then contact me at medwards@bossequity.com.If you could include in your email some feedback for the BOSS-IT podcast then it would be appreciated :) Links for podcast:Sales Genius 1: 20 top sales professionals share their secrets by Andrew Priestley - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Sales-Genius-sales-professionals-secrets-ebook/dp/B07GZVWNX4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537947510&sr=8-1&keywords=sales+genius+andrew The Hard Thing About Hard Things: Building a Business When There Are No Easy Answers by Ben Horowitz - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hard-Thing-About-Things-Building/dp/0062273205/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537947593&sr=8-1&keywords=the+hard+thing+about+hard+things James White (LinkedIn) - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jameswhitesales?originalSubdomain=uk James White (YouTube) - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUqzRMkyEC3dLYj5vQtzDEw James White (Website) - http://www.jameswhite.business/

שיחה מאלפת עם עו"ד שכנראה שתרצו לשמוע יותר מפעם אחת [משרד עו"ד יגאל ארנון ושות'](http://www.arnon.co.il/he/content/frontpage-0) [הספר Shoe Dog](http://www.amazon.com/Shoe-Dog-Phil-Knight/dp/1508211809) [הספר Outliers](http://www.amazon.com/Outliers-Story-Success-Malcolm-Gladwell-ebook/dp/B001ANYDAO/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr=) [הספר The hard thing about the hard things](http://www.amazon.com/Hard-Thing-About-Things-Building-ebook/dp/B00DQ845EA/ref=sr_1_2?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1519323381&sr=1-2&keywords=the+hard+things+about+the+hard+things)
