Escaping Liberty Jail w/ Joseph Smith - John Turner Pt. 24 | Ep. 2090

In this episode (Part 24), we dive into one of the most dramatic and painful chapters in early Letter-day Saint history: Liberty Jail. Joseph Smith was arrested on December 1, 1838 and eventually taken to Liberty Jail. Today we will cover his imprisonment, the chaotic legal proceedings that followed, and the eventual “escape” that allowed him to reunite with his family as the Saints resettled in Quincy, Illinois. We explore how internal conflicts, political pressures, treason charges, and widespread anti-Mormon hostility shaped Joseph's experience –and how his letters from Liberty Jail become some of the most cherished passages in Latter-day Saint scripture. We discuss betrayal, leadership crises, the brutality of Missouri's expulsion, and the Saints' struggle to survive amidst violence, sickness, and dislocation. This chapter also raises hard questions:Was Joseph Smith's trial fair? What role did dissenting church leaders play? How much of the Liberty Jail narrative has been “whitewashed”?What does Joseph Smith's behavior tell us about his character? We conclude by following Joseph's escape, his emotionally charged reunion with the Saints in Illinois, and the lasting trauma and financial strain the Missouri experience left behind. This is an episode you won't want to miss! Please purchase the book here.To support this series please donate here. One half of all donations will go to Dr. Turner for as long as he is participating in the series.___________________YouTubeAt Mormon Stories we explore, celebrate, and challenge Mormon culture through in-depth stories told by members and former members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as scholars, authors, LDS apologists, and other professionals.  Our overall mission is to: 1. In the first episode, they broke down how red pill creators damage younger men by feeding them fear, bitterness, and anger toward women. Now we ask a different question: Why is this content SO popular? Why does so much of this messaging connect with young men who feel lost, unseen, pressured, or rejected? Why does the algorithm push it? Why does it feel empowering at first but leave men more hurt in the long run?In this episode, Ern and Iso explore:Why young men feel invisible in today's worldThe father-figure void that online creators step intoThe pressure of modern dating and social mediaWhy “confidence over conversation” pulls men into extremesHow the algorithm traps men in negativityWhy the red pill feels like a brotherhood — even when it's harmfulHow pain, rejection, and insecurity make toxic content feel comfortingWhat young men are REALLY searching forAnd how to build healthier perspectives around love and manhoodThis episode isn't about attacking men — it's about understanding them, and showing a path to self-worth, accountability, and real connection. If you know a young man who spends hours watching red pill content, this episode may help explain WHY… and how to lead him toward something better.✊

Read Online“Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and curing every disease and illness.” Matthew 9:35This one line speaks volumes about Jesus' public ministry. He didn't just preach a few sermons or heal a few who were sick. He “went around to all the towns and villages…teaching…proclaiming the Gospel…” and cured “every disease and illness.”It's important to contemplate that Jesus' public ministry lasted approximately three years. Three years of constant preaching, healing, and relating to people. During this time, Jesus encountered many thousands of individuals, and news of His works spread throughout Israel and beyond. Yet, the rest of today's Gospel reveals that Jesus' public ministry, though perfect in every way, was just the beginning. It was the foundation upon which His ongoing ministry would be established through the formation of His Church. As the Gospel continues, we gain insight into Jesus' compassionate heart. When He looked at the crowds, “his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd.” His three years of ministry were only the foundation, and His merciful Heart began to overflow with compassion. Though He is God, Jesus limited Himself to human interactions within time and space, making it impossible for Him to engage personally with every troubled and abandoned soul in His human form. That's why He told His disciples to “ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” After this, He summoned His Twelve Apostles, gave them authority to share in His ministry of preaching and healing, and sent them out to the “lost sheep of the house of Israel.” Later, as recorded in Luke 10:1–2, Jesus expanded His mission even further by sending out seventy (or seventy-two) disciples ahead of Him as He and the Twelve began their final journey to Jerusalem where He would suffer and die. After His resurrection, Jesus further commissioned His Apostles to “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:19–20). This mission quickly spread to at least 120 disciples gathered in the upper room, and as the Holy Spirit continued to guide the early Church, thousands of new converts became evangelists, spreading the Word of God. Reflect today on Jesus' Sacred Heart, overflowing with compassion for all who feel “troubled and abandoned.” It is your mission to be Christ's Heart to them—to love them, to long for their burdens to be lifted, and to lead them to Christ, the Good Shepherd. Do not shy away from this mission, for the mission you are given is a continuation of and participation in the one eternal mission of Jesus Himself. Most holy and Good Shepherd, Your human Heart burns with the perfection of divine love and longs to touch every soul in need of Your mercy. Please transform my heart into Yours so that I may have Your zeal for the salvation of all whom I encounter and become a fitting instrument of Your divine presence in the world. "Determined to impose the union of the Churches accepted under pressure at the Council of Lyon (1274) to secure Papal support for the Byzantine Empire, Michael VIII Palaeologos sent troops to Mount Athos, the stronghold of Orthodoxy and centre of opposition to his policy, with orders to take sanguinary measures against monks who would not recognize the false union.   "When the Emperor's soldiers reached Karyes, the capital of Athos, which was organized as a lavra in those days, they seized the Protos of Athos, who had been an example to all of what a steadfast monk should be. They put him to the sword together with many other fathers there, and in their fury ransacked and fired the Church and monastic buildings, leaving rack and ruin behind them. Emerging from the wild places and thick forests where they had taken refuge, the Orthodox monks buried the holy Martyrs at the entrance to the Church of the Protaton. Through the centuries, generations of monks piously lit the lamp each day above the 'tomb of the Protos'; but it was not until 5 December 1981 that his relics were solemnly taken from the earth, and that a service was held in his honour in the presence of a great crowd." Paul tells the Thessalonians of his great desire to return to see them in person and notes that Satan is the one who hindered such a joyful reunion. As Paul looks forward to the Last Day, he knows that the Thessalonians are a source of great joy. That led him to send Timothy to them to check on them, even when Paul couldn't go personally. His purpose was to help the Thessalonians remain steadfast in persecution. Still today, Satan seeks to keep Christians apart from each other, making it urgent for Christians to resist the temptation to forsake gathering together. As we come together now, we receive strength from the Lord's Word and the fellowship of the Church to remain faithful to the end.  Rev. Andy Wright, pastor at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Topeka, KS, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study 1 Thessalonians 2:17-3:5.  To learn more about St. John's in Topeka, visit stjohnlcmstopeka.org. “Yearning for the Day of Christ's Returning” is a mini-series on Sharper Iron that studies St. Paul's two epistles to the Thessalonians. Although Paul's time in Thessalonica was brief, he had great affection for the Christians there. His two letters to the Thessalonians show us the joy that God gives us together in the Church and encourage us to live faithfully in expectation of Jesus' coming on the Last Day.  Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

Ken Lowry highlights how the printing press didn't just spread ideas—it restructured Christian life by shifting mediation. Once information became accessible, individuals became the “interface” with Christ, fundamentally changing Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox trajectories and the modern crisis of religious choice. The Protestant–Catholic–Orthodox split hinges on telos. Protestantism orients the service around teaching and information, while Catholic and Orthodox traditions culminate in the Eucharist, embodiment, and liturgy. This difference expresses two visions of what humans are doing in church: receiving ideas or participating in a transformative ritual that shapes the whole person.Spirits, telos, and hierarchy offer a map of reality. Ken frames spirits as real intelligible goals that pull people into coordinated action—seen as clearly in a baseball team as in a nation. Christ is the highest spirit because aiming toward Him properly orders all lower goals, giving a coherent vertical structure to meaning.Identity, privacy, and intimacy have transformed under the internet. The shift from soul → self → identity tracks changes in information technology. The internet collapses boundaries, creating unprecedented exposure while weakening the inherent privacy of intimate realities such as genuine lovemaking, which Ken argues can't be made public without destroying its nature.New Age influences and Hawkins' calibration reflect a search for truth. Stewart's encounters with the Rainbow Bridge world, David Hawkins' muscle-testing epistemology, and the escape from scientistic secularism reveal a cultural hunger for spiritual discernment in the absence of shared metaphysical grounding.Enlightenment and theosis may be the same mountain. Ken suggests that Buddhist enlightenment and Orthodox theosis aim at the same transformative reality: full communion with what is most real. The difference lies in Jesus as the concrete, personal revelation of God, offering a relational path rather than pure negation or emptiness.Secularism is shaped by powerfully negative telos. Ken argues that the modern world orients itself not toward the Good revealed in Christ but away from the Evil revealed in Hitler. Moving away from evil as a primary aim produces confusion, because only a positive vision of the Good can order desires, technology, suffering, and the overwhelming power of modern simulations.

In this week's conversation between Dr. James Emery White and co-host Alexis Drye, they discuss how for many people, Advent is simply a countdown to Christmas. Few seem to truly know the rich Christian tradition of Advent as it falls on the liturgical calendar. The word “advent” means “coming,” and the season of Advent within the Church is to be a time when we are preparing spiritually for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. In fact, so many of the traditions connected with Christmastime also have a rich Christian history and can all serve to help keep Christ in Christmas when you know their deeper meaning. Episode Links This conversation was sparked by an article in The Atlantic titled, “Advent Calendars Are Totally Out of Control.” It seems as though culture has commandeered this tradition of counting down to Christmas and cultivated a “little treat culture,” all about businesses making money and people treating themselves. You can read that article in full HERE. Dr. White mentioned another article that he read in a similar vein titled, “Shoppers still can't get enough of Advent calendars, and brands are racing to keep up with demand.” You can find that article HERE. Dr. White mentioned that a great way to combat the drift in culture regarding Advent is to take part in what's known as “The Advent Conspiracy.” This idea was brought forth in a book written by Rick McKinley, Chris Seay and Greg Holder called Advent Conspiracy: Making Christmas Meaningful Again (Zondervan). At Mecklenburg Community Church, where Dr. White serves as the senior pastor, this is fleshed out in a few ways. First and foremost, we make sure that the focus of the season of Advent is on Jesus' birthday, and that a great way to honor Him is by giving to the least and the lost in our world. We call it “Giving to Christ at Christmas,” and you can read more about it HERE. Another way that we've done this is through strategic message series that Dr. White has given over the years during the season of Advent. These include “The Advent Conspiracy,” “Keeping Christ in Christmas” and “I Need You Christmas.” For those of you who are new to Church & Culture, we'd love to invite you to subscribe (for free of course) to the twice-weekly Church & Culture blog and check out the Daily Headline News - a collection of headlines from around the globe each weekday. The Scripture readings for this homily: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/120525.cfmTo encounter Christ is to encounter the One who heals—physically, spiritually, supernaturally. Today's Gospel reminds us that miracles are not mythology but reality. Two blind men cry out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on us.” Their plea becomes the seed of what the Church would later cherish as the Jesus Prayer—“Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”The Fathers of the Church teach us that Scripture works on multiple levels. Historically, the miracle happened. Allegorically, the story unveils the drama of the spiritual life. We, too, are often blind—moving through seasons of darkness, dryness, and desolation. St. John of the Cross calls this the “dark night of the senses,” a purification God permits so that we learn fidelity beyond feelings.Yet God does not leave the faithful in darkness. For those who persevere, He leads them into illumination, contemplation, even the grace of infused prayer—where, as St. Teresa of Avila describes, the soul is “invaded by the supernatural.” Prayer shifts from something we do to something God does in us.This is the heart of the Jesus Prayer. Slowly, reverently, breathed in rhythm with the heart, the soul becomes accustomed to the presence of Jesus. The Eastern saints tell us that one can reach the place where even in sleep the heart continues to pray. This is our call: not merely to “say prayers,” but to become prayer. To carry Jesus in every breath. To let His name shape our thoughts, our conversations, our interior life. When we invoke His Holy Name, He draws near—because He desires intimate communion with us.To go deeper in your spiritual life, visit DivineMercyPlus.org, our free, ad-free Catholic streaming platform. Patrick welcomes listeners into a whirlwind of raw, real-life questions, from family wounds laid bare, forgiveness clung to by a thread, to faith decisions that ripple through generations. He fields everything from praying the Rosary during Mass to whether a “paper divorce” for insurance savings crosses the moral line, all while sharing stories of conversion and hope, like the grateful mother calling in with a baby in her arms. In these calls, Patrick moves through uncertainty and grace with a steady, honest voice, constantly challenging assumptions as he weighs Scripture, Church teaching, and the joy of lived experience. Brandon - I had to disclose a family secret and this has caused a hug rift. How can I forgive my family members? Should I reestablish contact or keep them cut off? (00:48) Aaron - I am struggling with the idea of where babies go when they are not born whether aborted or miscarried or still born. What happens to that? Do you have any comforting words? (11:30) Cayden - I was approached by a woman after mass who told me that I wasn't allowed to pray the Rosary during Mass. Is this true? (20:10) Jessica - I want to give you an update on the birth of my baby. You helped me and gave me the advice not to tie my tubes. Thank you. This is the child you helped bring into the world. (23:12) Jim - I am a Protestant. I see that the reading of the Bible, coming from Vatican II by lay people, was a positive thing. Would you agree? (29:30) Gary - Can I receive the Eucharist as a non-Catholic at a Catholic Church? (36:24) Todd - I have heard that people in their 60s are engaging in civil divorce to keep healthcare costs down. Is it ok to get a civil divorce, yet remain married in the eyes of the Church? (45:23)

It's Thursday, December 4th, A.D. 2025. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark European country of Monaco expelled Swiss evangelist Evangelical Focus reports officials in Monaco recently detained and then expelled a Swiss evangelist without much explanation. Monaco is a sovereign city-state in Western Europe, bordered by France to the north, east, and west, with the Mediterranean Sea to the south. Stephan Maag has shared the gospel on streets across 28 European countries. He's known for carrying an 80-pound collapsible cross, generating conversations about Jesus. His evangelistic walks were well-received until he visited Monaco, a microstate in south-eastern France. Police detained Maag, telling him what he was doing was not allowed there. They even told him his cross was too big! The evangelist said, “Nothing like this has ever happened to us in Europe.” In Romans 1:16, the Apostle Paul wrote, “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.” Germany beefs up security for iconic Christmas markets German cities are tightening security in preparation for opening their iconic Christmas markets this year. Renardo Schlegelmilch with Germany's largest Catholic radio station said, “There are more than 3,000 Christmas markets every year in Germany, with around 170 million visitors — more than twice the population of the country. They set the tone of Advent, even for people who are not active in the Church.” The security cost for this centuries-old tradition has skyrocketed in recent years. Security concerns have risen since 2016 when an Islamic extremist drove a truck into a Berlin Christmas market, killing 12 people. Mississippi evangelist makes case before Supreme Court The U.S. Supreme Court heard a case involving a Mississippi evangelist yesterday. Gabriel Olivier is an evangelical Christian who desires to share his faith with others. However, the City of Brandon, Mississippi passed an ordinance to effectively silence his evangelism. Lower courts sided with the city. Now, First Liberty Institute is representing Gabriel before the U.S. Supreme Court. The group noted, “Gabe's case could overturn decades of bad precedent in the lower courts. A clarifying opinion from the Supreme Court will bolster the rights and religious freedom of millions.” More U.S. soldiers identify with Christ while U.S. more secular U.S. military members are becoming more religious even as America becomes more secular. That's according to a study by Ryan Burge, a professor at Washington University in St. Louis. The study compared 18- to 45-year-olds in the military and outside the military. Members of the military are more likely to identify as Christians than the rest of the population. Military members are also more likely than civilians to attend church. And church attendance in the military has actually increased over the past 12 years. U.S. military abortions are down The Dallas Express reports that military abortions are down to their lowest level in five years. The military's TRICARE health service program covered five abortions this year as of June, down from 49 abortions in 2021.  This follows efforts by President Donald Trump to cancel abortion-related policies.  Although taxpayer-funded abortions at military facilities are down, the general use of medication-induced abortions has skyrocketed in recent years. Republicans won Tennessee special House of Reps. election The Grand Old Party won the special election for Tennessee's 7th Congressional District on Tuesday.  Republican Matt Van Epps beat Democrat Aftyn Behn by nine percentage points with 53.9% of the vote, reports the Nashville Banner. The victory means Republicans will have a 220-213 majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.  Listen to comments from Epps, thanking God and his supporters for the victory. EPPS: “We did it. Thank you all. This is just an incredible win. Tonight, you've sent a message, loud and clear. The people of Middle Tennessee stand with President Donald J. Trump. First and foremost, I want to thank God for His guidance and grace every step of the way.” Martyred U.S. medical missionary in Congo featured on Time in 1964 And finally, medical missionary Paul Carlson appeared on the covers of Time Magazine and Life Magazine on December 4, 1964, sixty-one years ago today. The successful doctor left a comfortable life in California to be a missionary in Africa. Carlson arrived in the Congo with his wife and two children in 1963. He continued to care for people despite political unrest. However, communist-inspired rebels eventually arrested him and falsely accused him of being an American spy. On November 24, 1964, the rebels opened fire on a group of prisoners, including Carlson. He died helping other prisoners escape the onslaught. Carlson's wife, Lois, carried on her husband's work, supporting medical care and education in the area. His tombstone bears this inscription from John 15:13, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Thursday, December 4th, in the year of our Lord 2025. Follow us on X or subscribe for free by Spotify, Amazon Music, or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com.  Plus, you can get the Generations app through Google Play or The App Store. Cooperation is at the heart of being a Southern Baptist. And with over 46,000 churches across our country, state conventions are critical in mobilizing and supporting pastors and ministry leaders in each state. That's why at the ERLC, we seek to come alongside these state directors and the churches they serve. On today's episode, you'll hear from Thomas Hammond, executive director of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, as he shares with ERLC Interim President Dr. Gary Hollingsworth about how Georgia Baptists are equipping churches to reach their families, friends, and coworkers with the gospel all across the state. Out of the 11.5 million people who live in Georgia, roughly 7 million don't have a relationship with Jesus. That's why, as Thomas says, Georgia Baptists see pastors as heroes, churches as the priority, and their state as the mission field. He'll also talk about the encouraging growth they're seeing across Georgia—from baptisms and church attendance to giving in local churches.Prior to becoming the executive director of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, Thomas served as lead pastor of Alpharetta First Baptist Church. He is a graduate of Augusta State University in Augusta, Georgia as well as Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee. He is married to Kerri and they have two daughters. Listen to more episodes of The ERLC Podcast at erlc.com/podcast.

How Fred Collier Defined the Ross LeBaronite Movement (Jacob Vidrine 9 of 13)

Fred Collier is one of the patriarchs of Ross LeBaron’s Church of the Firstborn. Fred tried to take over after Ross’s death and even converted Tom Green, an apostle in a rival group, “The Branch.” We’ll discuss more about how Fred’s group descends from Ross LeBaron. Check out our conversation… https://youtu.be/nTOU2ZYkNco Don't miss our other conversations with Jacob: https://gospeltangents.com/people/jacob-vidrine Copyright © 2025 Gospel Tangents All Rights Reserved Except for book reviews, no content may be reproduced without written permission While the core authority of the Utah-based Church of the Firstborn traced back through Ross Wesley LeBaron's unique patriarchal lineage derived from Benjamin F. Johnson, the movement’s doctrines and missionary success were significantly shaped by one influential follower: Fred Collier. Collier, who converted to fundamentalism in 1970, was described not as a professional historian but as a “self-trained historian” who dedicated his efforts to researching early Mormon history, ultimately providing the historical bedrock for Ross LeBaron’s claims. The Partnership: History, Mysteries, and the Patriarchal Order Collier joined a core group of “historian followers” drawn to Ross LeBaron because they felt there was something “solid to his claims.” Ross's ministry focused less on concentrating authority (like other fundamentalist groups) and more on disseminating a “patriarchal order of priesthood.” Ross liked to “delve into the mysteries.” This included embracing doctrines like plural marriage and the Adam-God doctrine. Collier expanded on these ideas, even writing a lengthy paper, The Adam God Doctrine in the Bible, attempting to find support for the concept in both the Old and New Testaments. Collier used his historical skills not just for study but for effective missionary work. He was instrumental in helping the Church of the Firstborn articulate its beliefs and authority, serving as a contrast to Ross’s own unorthodox methods: Eccentric Ministry: Ross spent over 20 years on radio shows like KSXX, where he would “clown around” or be controversial and “silly” to attract attention before sharing his message, mirroring unusual methods sometimes used by Old Testament prophets. Historical Converts: Ross’s eccentric style generally did not attract serious religious followers. Collier, however, converted “quite a number of people” by gathering copious historical research and sharing it. Collier also gained notoriety in historical circles for publishing works like Unpublished Revelations, which was valued because it stuck strictly to historical facts without conflating them with fundamentalist folklore or bias. Restoration of the Law of Adoption One of Collier's most significant historical discoveries that shaped the Church of the Firstborn was the concept of the Law of Adoption. Collier found the principle, common during the early Nauvoo/Utah pioneer periods (where men and families would be “sealed to men” in father-son relationships to establish a celestial family structure on Earth), through the published diaries of John D. Lee. When Collier presented this to Ross, Ross embraced it fully. Thereafter, the Law of Adoption became a core aspect of the Church of the Firstborn's structure, requiring anyone receiving patriarchal priesthood to enter into adoption covenants. The LeBaron-ites were likely the first fundamentalists to practice adoption since Wilford Woodruff officially discontinued it in the LDS Church in 1894. Schism Over Celestial Love The partnership between Ross (the innovative prophet) and Collier (the systematizing historian/writer) eventually fractured over a crucial doctrinal difference in 1983. Collier had received a vision which convinced him that the essential principle distinguishing a celestial person was “celestial love”—a selfless love for others and a “total commitment” characterized by losing oneself in service. Collier believed that the lower terrestrial kingdom was populated by people who were honorable but were motivated by seeking their “own reward and aggrandizement.” Collier wanted Ross to adopt this principle of selfless love, believing that the movement under Ross felt too loose and individualistic. However, Ross disagreed vehemently, holding the perspective that competition was a big driving force of the universe. In the ensuing debate, Ross allegedly stated that Christ died for his “own glory” for his own exaltation, which Collier felt was blasphemy against the Atonement. Less than a month later, Ross changed his priesthood teachings entirely, leading Collier to conclude that Ross had fallen into doctrinal apostasy. Fred Collier’s Enduring Legacy Collier separated from Ross, going on to lead his own group (which peaked at several hundred followers in 1992.) Although Ross had never formally appointed a successor, he acknowledged that Collier was the most likely candidate, having “done more to build up our system and the work than anyone else.” Collier continued his work as a prolific author, writing numerous pamphlets and books. His historical research, focusing on early temple doctrine, priesthood, and the Adam-God doctrine, has since “permeated fundamentalism,” with followers of different groups utilizing his historical scholarship. The readings for this homily: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/120425.cfmIn this powerful Advent homily, Fr. Mark reveals why the Church gives us such seemingly “unrelated” readings during the early days of the season. Beneath the surface, he shows a single thread tying them together: Israel's longing for a Messiah who would finally give humanity the power to live God's will. From the failures of the Old Testament to the warnings of the prophets, the people discovered what we must rediscover—misery always follows when we trust ourselves more than God.Israel's exile, their suffering, and their longing formed the backdrop for Advent hope: a Messiah who would restore not only the kingdom, but the human heart. As Fr. Mark explains, God's will is never arbitrary. Because “God is goodness itself” (CCC 199), His will can only be good, healing, and life-giving. When we surrender to that will, we stand on the unchanging rock of divine truth—immovable, stable, and at peace. “Order brings peace,” says St. Thomas Aquinas, and Advent invites us to let God reorder our desires so that our hearts may rest in Him.Jesus warns us in today's Gospel that salvation is inseparable from doing the Father's will. Advent, then, becomes a season of holy realignment: turning from sin, renouncing self-reliance, and trusting in God's providence with the same hopeful expectation Israel once knew. As we prepare for Christmas, Fr. Mark urges us to pray with conviction: “Not my will, Lord, but Yours be done.”To deepen your Advent journey, explore more teachings on DivineMercyPlus.org and the free, ad-free Divine Mercy Plus app. Visit the link in our bio for homilies, reflections, the Rosary, the Chaplet, and Advent resources to guide you toward Christ.#marian #marians #marianfathers #marianhelpers #divinemercy #thedivinemercy#frmarkbaron #catholic #catholicism #romancatholic #romancatholicism #catholictiktok#godswill #advent #preparetheway #catholichomily #dailyhomily #scripture #faith #hope #repentance ★ Support this podcast ★
