Amaranthe Triumphs, tragedies, rebirths and upheavals… Life is often defined by its moments of revelation. 15 years into a career that has seen them become one of metal's most ruthlessly individual and uplifting bands, AMARANTHE are about to make their most definitive and revealing move. Three years on from the widely acclaimed Manifest, Sweden's masters of thunderous, melodic futurism are about to unveil The Catalyst. Formed in 2008, AMARANTHE walked their own unique path from the start. With a sound that combined the sharpest, cutting edges of melodic metal, electronic rock and razor-sharp pop, their impact was immediate and undeniable. Kicking off with their self-titled debut in 2011, the Swedes blazed a trail through the European metal scene and beyond, swiftly establishing themselves as a dazzling one-off, not least due to the unprecedented triple vocal attack that paired clean tones with exquisite melodic sensibilities and feral growls. Over the next few years, the sextet steadily grew in stature, releasing a series of praised studio records that jabbed persistently at the boundaries of modern metal. From 2013's fiery The Nexus and its immaculate follow-up Massive Addictive, through to the experimental bravery of 2016's Maximalism and 2018's Helix (which saw the arrival of Dynazty vocalist Nils Molin, replacing the departing Jake E), AMARANTHE have been an unwavering breath of invigorating fresh air, renowned for absurdly catchy and crushing pop-metal anthems and for euphoric, eye-popping live performances all over the globe. Fast forward to 2023, and change is in the air. Pieced together over the last three years, The Catalyst is a self-evident breakthrough moment, and the most exhilarating and idiosyncratic record AMARANTHE have ever made. One major contributory factor to this impressive forward stride is the arrival of AMARANTHE's latest new member. Slotting in neatly alongside Elize Ryd and Nils Molin is the band's new master of growls, Mikael Sehlin. Now fully installed as the sixth piece of the AMARANTHE jigsaw – alongside Olof Mörck, Elize Ryd, Nils Molin, bassist Johan Andreasson and drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen – Mikael Sehlin can be heard revelling in his new creative partnerships on The Catalyst. Due for release early in 2024, The Catalyst fully delivers on the promise of its title. AMARANTHE have always been original thinkers and maverick songwriters, but never with as much power and panache as they demonstrate this time around. Both their finest album to date and a collection of songs that deftly redefine every aspect of the Swedes' sound, The Catalyst is destined to propel its creators ever higher up the modern metal ladder. For Olof Mörck, it represents the culmination of 15 years of hard work and the breathless pursuit of a wholly original musical vision. Change is inevitable. Victory is assured. https://www.amaranthe.se/ https://www.nuclearblast.com/pages/amaranthe _ Date: 7 March 2024 Voices: Olof | Arthur  Notes: recorded in the green room; concrete walls, echo removed with ai; before the gig at Gasometer Cover Photo: Interceptor Beyond _ Interceptor Beyond Podcast Website: https://www.interceptorbeyond.com  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/interceptorbeyond Hashtags: #interceptorbeyond #interceptorbeyondpodcast #amaranthe

In today's episode, Kenny and Del talk about movies and tv shows, while relaxing in casino bar in Reno, NV.We often get asked about how we come up with ideas for the show.  So instead of just answering that question directly, we thought we'd give you our answer in a show.    Because Kenny lives in California and Del in Hawai'i, they rarely get together nowadays, but when they do, they have a lot to talk about.  Speaking to each other face to face is so much different than over the phone or on zoom and usually leads to our major show ideas, especially when the food is good and the beers are cold. Pieced together from a single evening in  Reno, we thought it would be fun to have a hot mic and let you hear some of our insights on everything from the latest streamer shows, to what's new in the theaters, the latest action stars, and more.In this show, we do more than a movie review by delving into the lives of the cast and crew, fan theories, trivia, scene breakdowns, and anything related to film and TV.  Needless to say, our shows are a little longer than your average movie review show, but we can assure you that our shows are jam packed with entertaining and interesting discussions.  If that sounds like your sort of bag, hang out with Kenny and Del as they Talk Story. Thanks for listening, and feel free to hit us up on any of our social media platforms!     https://linktr.ee/BiAPodcastTheme song "Loli'ana" was written and performed by award-winning musician Kamuela Kahoano.   Listen to more of Kamuela's music on iTunes and https://kamuelamusic.com/.  Also, "Loli'ana" performed live at The Ko'olau Banquet Hall can be seen here https://youtu.be/YDJ1NNJgEiA  Thanks for listening!  Don't forget our next bi-weekly Pod, and keep an eye out for our specials, series, request line, and news episodes!  And please subscribe and review!

Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Who's at fault for FTX's wrongdoing, published by EliezerYudkowsky on November 16, 2022 on The Effective Altruism Forum. Caroline Ellison, co-CEO and later CEO of Alameda, had a now-deleted blog, "worldoptimization" on Tumblr. One does not usually post excerpts from deleted blogs - the Internet has, of course, saved it by now - but it looks like Caroline violated enough deontology to be less protected than usual in turn, and also I think it's important for people to see what signals are apparently not reliable signs of honesty and goodness. In a post on Oct 10 2022, Caroline Ellison crossposted her Goodreads review of The Golden Enclaves, book 3 of Scholomance by Naomi Novik. Caroline Ellison writes, including very light / abstract spoilers only: A pretty good conclusion to the series.Biggest pro was the resolution of mysteries/open questions from the first two books. It wrapped everything up in a way that felt very satisfying.Biggest con was . I think I felt less bought into the ethics of the story than I had for the previous two books? The first two books often have a vibe of “you can either do the thing that's easy and safe or you can do the thing that's hard and scary but right, and being a good person is doing the right thing.” And I'm super on board with that.Whereas if I had to sum up the moral message of the third book I might go with “there is no ethical consumption under late capitalism.” For someone like myself, this is a pretty shocking thing to hear somebody say, on a Tumblr blog not then associated with their main corporate persona, not in a way that sounds like the usual performativity, not like it's meant to impress anybody (because then you're probably not writing about anything as undignified as fantasy fiction in the first place). It sounds like - Caroline might have been under the impression, as late as Oct 10, that what she was doing at FTX was the thing that's hard and scary but right? That she was doing, even, what Naomi Novik would have told her to do? The Scholomance novels feature a protagonist, Galadriel Higgins, with unusually dark and scary powers, with a dark and scary prophecy about herself, trying to do the right thing anyways and being misinterpreted by her classmates, in an incredibly hostile environment. The line of causality seems clear - Naomi Novik, by telling her readers to do the right thing, probably contributed to Caroline Ellison doing what she thought was the right thing - misusing Alameda's customer deposits. Furthermore, the Scholomance novels romanticized people with dark and scary powers, and those people not just immediately killing themselves in the face of a prophecy that they'd do immense harm later, i.e., sending the message that it's okay for them to take huge risks with other people's interests. I expect this to be a very serious blow to Naomi Novik's reputation, possibly the reputation of fantasy fiction in general. The now-deleted Tumblr post is tantamount to a declaration that Caroline Ellison was doing this because she thought Naomi Novik told her to. We can infer that probably at least $30 of Scholomance sales are due to Caroline Ellison, and with the resources that Ellison commanded as co-CEO of Alameda, some unknown other fraction of Scholomance's entire revenues could have been due to phantom purchases that Ellison funded in order to channel customer deposits to her favorite author. My moral here? It can also be summed up in an old joke that goes as follows: "He has no right to make himself that small; he is not that great." The best summary of the FTX affair that I've read so is Milky Eggs's "What Happened at Alameda Research?" If you haven't read it already, and you're at all interested in this affair, I recommend that you go read it right now. Pieced together from various sources, including some alleged...

Will God answer your prayer if you don't end with, "In Jesus' name, Amen?" Learn what praying in the name of Jesus really means.   I taught this week on the call of Abraham and the development of God's missionary call through the nation of Israel as they were responsible to communicate the truth of God to the cultures around them. They were given that great commission. The great commission didn't start in Matthew 28.  It started with Abraham in Genesis 12 —the first three verses there —Abraham, chosen by God to raise up a nation who would then be God's priests to the world so that they would be a blessing to all of the nations.   They had a unique role in the great monotheistic religion. The Jews were supposed to reflect morality to the world. Israel was to witness to the name of God. When they talked about the name of God and witnessing to God's name, that does not mean that they were to let everybody know what they called God, "Yahweh." Their goal wasn't to cover the countryside with evangelists who just let everybody know what the right word for God was. It meant something different.    ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ https://linktr.ee/jacksonlibon -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #realtalk #face #instagram #amour #take #couple #dance #dancers #vogue #voguedqnce #garden #tiktok #psychology #beyou #near #love #foryou #money #ForYouPizza #fyp #irobot #theend #pups #TikToker #couplegoals #famille #relation #doudou #youtube #twitter #tiktokers #love #reeĺs #shorts #instagood #follow #like #ouy #oyu #babyshark #lilnasx #girl #happybirthday #movie #nbayoungboy  #deviance #autotrader #trading #khan #academy #carter #carguru #ancestry #accords #abc #news #bts #cbs #huru #bluebook #socialmedia #whatsapp #music #google #photography #memes #marketing #india #followforfollowback #likeforlikes #a #insta #fashion #k #trending #digitalmarketing #covid #o #snapchat #socialmediamarketing

The Shoah Foundation has recorded the stories of genocide survivors from arond the world.Neither of Bischof's parents — her father was a concentration camp survivor — would talk about what had happened to them before coming to the United States.Bischof's mother was born in 1910 in the Prussian Empire and became Polish in 1918. Bischof, in her book, describes her mother as a tall, beautiful woman with olive skin and dark hair who spoke a half-dozen languages and sang with a lovely soprano voice. As a mother, she was strict and made clothes for her daughter that did not show her shape. The family listened to opera on Sundays and the four children — Patricia was the oldest — weren't allowed to listen to rock and roll.“Sometimes I just felt lost,” says Bischof in this week's Enterprise podcast. She didn't fit in with her classmates at school. “I couldn't relate. What do you want to be remembered for as a business? It's an important question without an easy answer, but let's figure out how to get there today. Good morning friends, Thomas Joyner with Business on Purpose here. I've spent a lot of time recently with clients talking through their mission statements. Now, most mission statements are bland…gutless, and generic at best. They serve little purpose other than putting some ink on a piece of paper to say that you have one.  But… attaching mission to your business can actually serve to give it a purpose that is powerful and can propel you towards significant meaning in the working world. Typically, the question we use when we ask business owners about their mission statement is…”What gets you out of bed in the morning and excited to do what you do?” For us, that's always been liberating business owners from chaos.” It gets us jacked and ready to take on both the good and the bad of our weekly schedules. I was working a few weeks ago with a client and asked him that question… it didn't really land. Well, maybe it landed, but it didn't lead us to a powerful mission statement. So I rephrased it…what do you want to be remembered for? That got the juices flowing. He started throwing out keywords that propelled him forward to realizing his mission and what he wanted to be remembered for. Words like service, creativity, teamwork, leadership. All of that. Pieced together to help him understand his why! So… if I was to ask you the same thing. Do you have an answer?  Do you know what you want to be remembered for? And here's the kicker… does your process reflect that. You have to take it one step further.  If you want to be remembered for having the best, most qualified team, do you invest in them, send them to trainings, spend time developing them as leaders to make sure they are the best and the most qualified? If you want to be remembered for having the best product in your industry, are you investing in R&D, getting feedback from your clients to see where you can improve, and making sure that no one is better? If you want to be remembered for serving and helping your clients succeed, do you have meetings on the front end to capture that vision, do you take the time to listen, and is that a part of your process? These things matter. Your process has to reflect your mission because it's what you're going to be remembered for. Or are you like most people? Winging it… day after day. Not really knowing why you wake up and do what you do. Or what sets you apart. No, the future is a bit fuzzy, but it's ok, we'll figure it out. No… take the time to build out a mission story that propels you forward. A mission statement that gets you excited to wake up in the morning and get to work instead of complaining that it's Monday yet again. You spend too much time at work (almost ⅓ of your life) to just get by. Get excited, know what you want to be remembered for…and then build out and invest in the processes to realize that mission. That's how it's done. I would wager that if you went about every day with that kind of intentionality, your team would want to be apart of you business for a long, long time…and the inspiration that trickled out to the community would be contagious. I hope that makes sense, so spend some time today asking yourself, what do you want to be known for. Have a great week!

1. Markets try to rebound from yesterday's bloodbath decline. Today, stocks are catching a bid after getting slaughtered yesterday. Yesterday's decline was led lower by the tech heavy NASDAQ Composite and NASDAQ-100. The semiconductor sector (SMH) was hit particularly hard. This important industry group carries a lot of weight in the market and I view it as the most important group in tech. Yesterday was a 90 percent day, 90% of the issues were down. Semi conductors need to be followed. More money rotation out of tech. Cloud-software also was pounded yesterday as well. This is also a big industry group now and must be followed closely. Tech looks very top heavy right now and I would avoid this area of the market for longer term trades.Spydr's closed just above 100 day moving average. Beware if they take out 428.6. They're okay for now but tech is under big selling pressure. 2. Precious metals are getting clobbered today. Silver is trading down the most, falling by 4.0%.  The silver chart is very ugly right now and I will have to see how it looks by the end of the week. 3. Bitcoin/Cryptos are still living to fight another day. Still above pyschological levels. 40,000 is the number to watch for Bitcoin.

This week, your Literary Life podcast hosts, Angelina Stanford, Cindy Rollins and Thomas Banks are happy to be joined by Kelly Cumbee to talk about Edmund Spenser. They begin the conversation with Kelly giving a little biographical information on Spenser. Kelly shares how she came to read The Faerie Queene with her own children and for her education, then fell in love with it herself. Angelina talks about Spenser's style of writing and his vision for creating a medieval feel in his work. Kelly gives us a brief synopsis of the general outline of The Faerie Queene and the virtues that are the focus of each book. Some other topics they discuss are the courtly love tradition, the harmony between the court and the country, the journey of the soul pictured in the quest stories, and the levels of reading that may be applied to The Faerie Queene. Commonplace Quotes: That best portion of a good man’s life, His little, nameless, unremembered acts Of kindness and of love… William Wordsworth That men have been burnt alive willingly is a fact of no little interest to anyone who has ever put his hand in the flame of a candle. G. K. Chesterton The poem is a great palace, but the door into it is so low that you must stoop to go in. No prig can be a Spenserian. It is, of course, much more than a fairy tale, but unless we can enjoy it as a fairy tale first of all, we shall not really care for it. C. S. Lewis I chose books that I wanted to read for my own education and brought the children along with me. This made homeschooling and morning time a feast for my soul as well as theirs. Pieced together, the elements shape an idea that commitment is not experienced in isolation but with others and with all parts of ourselves. That commitment has an energy that moves, sends us along in a direction. And that commitment is the result of choice.

In this week’s episode we explore Dick’s Picks Vol. 18, a midwestern compilation from February 3, 1978 at the Dane County Coliseum in Madison, Wisconsin, February 4, 1978 at the Milwaukee Auditorium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and February 5, 1978, at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Just six weeks on from the magical year of 1977, we find The Dead fusing their disco-dead sound with expert & lengthy jams, giving the run a mixed feeling of 1973 meeting 1977. Pieced together like a standard Set I for the era with a double-pack of Set II jam vehicles, this is a joyous compilation that gives one a true sense of what The Grateful Dead were up to in the Winter of 1978.Disc One opens with the back-to-back combo of “Bertha” and “Good Lovin’” before we dive into a seasonally appropriate “Cold Rain & Snow.” Elsewhere, “Deal” shines in the lively rock of late-70’s Dead. Disc Two is a masterpiece as the late-70’s combo of “Estimated Prophet> Eyes Of The World” before “Playin’ In The Band” jams for nearly 25min in a fusion of the late-70’s groove & early-70’s psychedilia. From there we hear the first “The Wheel” of the Dick’s Picks series before returning to “Playin’.” Disc Three provides a bonus Set II to the overall show, with a scorching “Scarlet -> Fire” that concludes with a jam heavy “Truckin’ -> Drums -> Other One> Wharf Rat.” All the flavors of Winter/Spring 1978 are represented here in a compilation that matches Dick’s Picks 4, 12 and 14 for its mastery of encapsulating an era.36 from the Vault is production of Osiris Media. Big beers and bold art are where it's at for Abomination Brewing Like man breweries, Abomination Brewing was started in a garage by friends Joe Feldman and Josh Arno.  Word got around that they were making great beers and people started to ask them to brew beers for their events, finally growing to the point they needed to expand and become an actual brewery.  The pair tells us that the name comes from the abomination that was their homebrew kit.  Pieced together from whatever could be find, in the true spirit of the hobby. Abomination is a nomadic brewer, partnering with Twelve Percent Beer Project.  You've likely heard this type of arrangement referred to as "gypsy brewing", but that term can be considered offensive.  Arno and Feldman speak very highly of their friends at Twelve Percent.  In a couple short years they've been able to get their beer into 32 states thanks to the partnership.  However, they are on the lookout for their own space.  Feldman tells us a bit about that, but says to stay tuned for the full story soon. As the conversation goes on and the beer keeps flowing we dive into the more important topics, like a heated discussion on the best type of hot dog and condiments.  We talk long boils and blow the minds of Abomination when we tell tales of 24-hour boils which leads us to invent the "boil solera."  With art being a big part of their brand we also discuss the labels and artists and find out there is a common connection between beer art and cigar art. Abomination Social Distancing Collaboration A global pandemic can really put a damper on the community aspect of brewing.  Collaborations allow brewers to get away from home for a bit and share and learn from other brewers, all while making tasty beers.  Abomination Brewing was feeling down about the current state of the world (gestures broadly at everything) and decided to get their brewing friends together for Social Distancing Collaboration.  The goal is to "brew a beer together, but responsibly apart," with each brewery putting their own spin on this DDH DIPA.  Check out more info and the list of participating breweries right hurr. We had a fun conversation with some great beer talk and a bit of going off the rails.  Make sure to check out the show and look for Abomination at your local stores. Its August 1929 in Berlin. It's a time that the city is fondly remembered by in history. The time of dancing and decadence, and a time when the city is awash with people from all over the nation moving to live within its limits. But Berlin was not, for everyone, a city of glitz and glamour, it was a breathing, living entity, in which they must survive, and sometimes the harsh realities hit even the, often regarded, safest of communities. Pieced together from police files, reports and newspapers The Watcher is a new series from Achtung! History, produced by The Berlin Tour Guide and presented by Simon J. James, exploring a crime that shook the metropolis of Berlin. Follow Achtung! History on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram or support the continued production of the show through Patreon.

There are 7 major times when Jesus visited Jerusalem. Each one confirmed Who He is and His purpose for coming here as "the Word in flesh, dwelling among us". Pieced together, these visits communicate a full understanding of the Gospel message--that a loving God wants to save all people from our sin. Everything Jesus came to do will culminate in the next time He comes to Jerusalem: To set up His eternal Kingdom.

Cambodia's bamboo train-essential transportation for rural living doubles as a tourist ride[/caption] Far East Adventure Travel The Podcast is brought to you by Far East Adventure Travel Magazine. Get your free copy now! Go to the iTunes App Store, download the app then download your copies of Far East Adventure Travel Magazine. I was staying in Battambang, Cambodia. While I was there I had to visit one of the area’s most famous attractions, the bamboo train. The bamboo train gets it’s name from the bamboo deck or floorboard used that rests on top of the wheels that can transport anything from chickens and rice to people. In Khmer it’s called a Lorry and has been used since the Khmer Rouge shutdown of most regular train service in the country. The Bamboo Train Station. Now where is the first class lounge? I could use a bloody mary about right now! Waiter? Actually the place is quite charming and surprisingly not touristy feeling at all. At least not at the starting point in O Dambong, about 4 km from Battambang. The bamboo train solves the biggest problem of a single track train line. What do you do when two trains meet from opposite directions? In the case of the bamboo train? Simple-move one off the track. This experience alone makes this one of the world’s all time great train rides. A little heavy on the photo gear I know but I’m a one man show right now. Farewells from the departure crew and we’re off. The bamboo train was not the first flatbed type service in Cambodia. During the civil war of the 80’s and 90’s flatbed trains were used as mine sweepers ahead of the rest of the train. Service was free, risky but popular. [caption id="attachment_2266" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Bamboo train station at O Dambong-approximately 4 km from Battambang, Cambodia[/caption] And here we go about 3 minutes into the ride and our first stop. Wow, now that’s taking service station to the next level. The first lorries or bamboo trains were actually hand driven with a pole, kind of like an Italian gondola. Small motorcycle or tractor engines, like this one were added later. The wheels? They’re actually from abandoned tanks! Yes get your ass off the deck so I can do my job, thank you! Once again we are rolling on the tracks. The ride lasts almost a half-hour each way starting in O Dambong with a short stop in O Sra Lav before returning. The tracks are not in the best of shape with little or no maintenance for decades making them warped and misaligned. Occasionally you’ll get a strong bump from a really weak section, but hey it’s all part of the charm. It is just after 7am and I think this is a perfect time to come-with the sun just rising and cool comfortable temperatures. The atmosphere is amazing and feels like you’ve been dropped into an Indochina themed adventure movie. Cambodia’s first rail line was built by the French in the 1930’s. By 1969 the rail system was still in good shape but the civil war of the 1970’s soon saw some of the line destroyed. By 2008 passenger service was completely discontinued. Private interests currently hold the concession to the railway with only freight operation running between Phnom Penh and the coastal town of Sihanoukville. We are slowing down because another train is coming our way. The rule is the car with fewer passengers gives way to the other car. So if you want priority service bring a group or give some locals a free ride. Finally after a ride with stops that lasts just under 30 minutes we arrive at O Sra Lav. Here’s where it gets a little touristy, with the usual t-shirts, scarves, and kids selling bracelets. But that’s OK, they’re just trying to make a living and the people are always friendly here even if you don’t buy. Like this man kindly showing me the way. Ten minutes later we are back on the tracks and heading back to O Dambong. Sometimes so-called tourist attractions are spoiled by being over commercialized eventually losing the charm that originally made them attractive. For me the bamboo train is an absolutely original experience. Pieced together with leftover tank wheels, tractor motors, and eco-friendly bamboo, it’s the ultimate transportation mutt making it one of the world’s most original travel experiences.
