This week on the No Simple Road Weekly Rewind we are journeying through the year 2024 to find our "favorite" episodes. As with any labor of love, it is extremely difficult to pick "favorites". Each of us chooses our top 3 episodes from 2024 and we each get an 'Honorable Mention' just to level the playing field a little bit. In a year filled with Phish at The Sphere, WinterWondergrass, Cascade Equinox, a live podcast from Fire on the Mountain in Denver before Phish Dick's weekend, A list guests from all walks of life, and too many synchronicities to count, its been one hell of a ride this year for NSR. In the first ever TSL Rewound, we gather around the memory of our beloved cousin Steph, whose laughter and courage echoed even as triple negative breast cancer sought to silence her, by revisiting an episode that captures her essence. Steph's legacy, woven through stories of motherhood, entrepreneurship, and a relentless battle against cancer, resonates with a message of hope and the importance of cherishing every heartbeat. Her voice, a tender reminder of strength and love, takes center stage once more, inviting listeners to hold dear the wisdom of self-care and the power of dreams that defy life's darkest moments.Imagine facing life's most profound challenges with a smile that never fades and a spirit that refuses to be dampened. Steph, our special guest and guiding light in this episode from February 2021, did just that, painting a portrait of resilience that etches itself into the heart. Her journey through the trials of IVF, the joy of motherhood, and the rigors of managing a business while waging a war on cancer is a poignant narrative that inspires awe. It's a tale that touches the core of human perseverance, spotlighting the unshakeable love within a family and the laugh that lingers even in the silence.Throughout our conversation with Steph, we unravel the complexities of a cancer journey amidst the loneliness of a pandemic, the support networks that become our lifelines, and the unvarnished truths of life and love in the shadow of illness. Her transformative approach to health—embracing an alkaline diet, meditation, and energy healing—not only showcases her indomitable will to live but also serves as a beacon for all navigating similar paths. We honor Steph's memory by sharing her story, a testament to the enduring power of hope and the unwavering belief in tomorrow's sunrise. We'd love to hear from you, so please follow us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook by searching for @thestartlinepod and you can also follow the show on your favourite podcast provider or listen on our website! Submission guidelines can be found at TallTaleTV.com ---- About Tall Tale TV ---- My name is Chris Herron, and I narrate audiobooks. In 2015, poor control of my diabetes left me legally blind for the better part of a year. The doctors predicted an 80% chance I would never see again, but I changed the way I was living and through sheer willpower beat the odds. During this time I couldn't read or write. Two things that I had been turning to for comfort since I was a small child. With the sheer amount of stress I was under, this was devastating. My wife took me by the arm, lead me into the local library, and read out titles of audiobooks to me. I chose the audiobook versions of books I had loved such as the Disc World series, Name of the Wind, Harry Potter and more. They brought my favorite stories to life in ways I never thought possible and helped me through the darkest time of my life. Once my vision recovered, I maintained a love for audiobooks. I decided I would turn my focus from being a writer to becoming a narrator. I devised Tall Tale TV as a way to help out all the amazing authors in the writing communities I had come to love before my ordeal. I created Tall Tale TV to help aspiring authors by providing them with a promotional audiobook video. A way to showcase their skills with the written word. Legendary Chicago Rock Critic, renown author and podcaster, Greg Kot (@gregkot on Twitter) joins our hosts to discus the Coda Collection's (@Coda_Collection on Twitter) release of the 1974 lost live gem, "Ladies and Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones". While there's plenty of Stones talk, rest assured, tangents are guaranteed. Pop, Yow, Flag, and many more make their way into the discussion.
The Boys from The LOST & FOUND & REWOUND Podcast (Chris Lost, Found Jim and Rick Rewound) join us this week to talk tacos, film, music and even a little true crime as we review the tasty tacos at LUNA AZTECA in the Northland as well as some top taco spots in Illinois (Brothers Mexican Grill and Tony's Tacos!) Also we engage in some Fajita chat, Rick gives us some tips on tipping and what it's like growing up with a Mom who is a Chimichanga Lover! We talk to the boys about the origin of their podcast and go over a list of other train movies they could review! We also ask the question: "Are Rock Stars who wear blouses more successful?" We also get into Overrated/Underrated Films & Directors and get into some Prince and Rolling Stones Tidbits! In the TACO TICKER we get an update on the case of the man who died in a taco eating contest in 2019 and we get some breaking news on the Taco Bell Cantina Coming Soon To Westport! Will and Rachel played a wonderful April Fool's joke on Elann by enlisting a handful of previous guests and friends of the show to surprise him with a Zoom call for what is definitely *not* the last episode of Lost & Rewound but certainly felt like it. Featuring Cerian, Tim Dowd, Olivia Whelan, Noah DeBiase, Timmy Daniels, and Kevin Jones, who composed quite the special intro. *This episode was edited by Will!*
If there was ever an artist who qualified as RFB "boundary spanners" it might just be The Belle Curves. From crafting songs that would be at home on Hurdy Gurdy Songs, to covering songs by an artist that Sitting With Gianluca: Lively Conversation & Music frequently mentions, to appearing as guests on Lost & Rewound and attending RFB Presents shows The Belle Curves are what community, and community radio, are all about. Our show on March 15th features four tracks by The Belle Curves that were recorded exclusively for The Rodent Hour as part of our newly launched Rodent Sessions series. Rounding out the playlist is new music by VOLK, Beebe Gallini, Ruby Bones, Sun Mahshene, Oceanator, Jennels, Animal Years, Ashrr plus Karen & The Sorrows and if that's not enough for you you'll also get to hear what a living legend says about one of the songs that The Belle Curves recorded. Playlist Volk - Welcome to Cashville The Belle Curves - Spent Girls On Grass - Asesino Karen & the Sorrows - Walk Through the Desert The Belle Curves - Waltzing Will Oceanator - A Crack in the World Huevos Rancheros - Who's Your New Girlfriend? Animal Years - Talkin' to You Ruby Bones - Rooftops The Belle Curves - February Girl (feat. Finn & His Rustkickers) Jennels - Fed Up Huevos Rancheros - Rockin' Lafayette Sun Mahshene - The Righteous One ASHRR - OTHERSIDE Huevos Rancheros - Evacuation The Belle Curves - Blowin' In The Wind Beebe Gallini - My Way of Thinking The Rodent Hour is an homage to the friends that Matt Attack made during his misspent youth, those lifelong friends who joined him on those weekend nights so many years ago and whose eclectic tastes still influence the selection of artists and music that is featured on the show. Fifteen years after arriving in Brooklyn he continues to be a tireless advocate for the independent musicians that still play with the ferocity and intensity he grew up listening to. What was "Redone and Rewound" this week was the storyline for season 11 of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but we are absolutely ok with that! Hunter would most prefer that this episode was about his birthday (coming up this week, in case you didn't hear). Papa the Bear admires Teresa's backside. We both toast to Jackie's toasts. We can think of tens of thousands of reasons to listen to this weeks episode of The Real Housebears.

The iPod has made a comeback? To your iPhone! You can relive the classic nostalgia of the click wheel as you scroll through your songs. It's called Rewound. They're working to make it compatible with Spotify, but if you use Apple Music you're in luck. You'll need to download the 'skin' to comply with Apple's rules but you can find those on Twitter at the hashtag #rewoundskins.Kid friendly app TikTok is alleged to be breaking the law? They're accused of breaking the Children's Online Protection Act - known as COPA. COPA states social networks can't collect analytics on children under 13 without their parents consent. It's why many of the apps have 13 as the age minimum. The suit by two parents claims TikTok has not only collected the data but sold it on to third-parties too.Porche is going greenTheir first electric car is out - the Taycan - and boy it's pretty - because it looks like a Porche! Marcus Barnes, author and music journalist, is one of the most affable men I’ve ever met, and one of the most knowledgeable about British festival culture. So when Spotify asked me to do a live podcast for their London event “Rewound in Sound,” of course I called up Marcus. On the podcast we speak of Britain’s brilliant festival history from country fairs and fêtes, through the goliath of Glastonbury, the acid house revolution, and the explosion of festivals today. We end our chat discussing Emile Durkheim’s idea of collective effervesce, participatory events like Burning Man, and the reason we gather. Something I’ve noticed doing podcasts is that there can be an inflection point of shared vulnerability where we drop into effortless openness. I didn’t know if that would happen at a live performance, but as we discussed the Caribbean celebration Notting Hill Carnival, Marcus delivered and we dropped into a deeper vibe. I’d like to offer my deep gratitude to Jessica, Kelly, Tom and all London Spotifiers for making us feel at home while we spoke about connection. Big ups to Simon Kallin for shooting this video! ** In June 2018, Ben Esposito was on his way to a game conference when he received a email that said his game had been stolen. ** The idea he had been working on for six years was already for sale, by someone else. It might have been inevitable. We examine what happens when a bigger company sees an opportunity in your personal small game. We talk to creator of Donut County, Ben Esposito, the chief operating officer of Noodlecake Studios, Ryan Holowaty and many others about how a French media conglomerate operates and why there are so many mobile game clones.

In honor of the International Year of the Periodic Table, Stereo Chemistry explores the stories behind some of the elements in this episode. C&EN and ACS on Campus hosted periodic table pub trivia during the ACS Spring 2019 National Meeting in Orlando, Florida. Inspired by the event, its participants, and its questions, host Kerri Jansen investigated what it takes to make a new superheavy element, starting a half century ago and tracking the making of new elements through time. She tells the tales of scientists commonly associated with shaping the periodic table but also of the unsung heroes behind the scenes. A script of this podcast is available at our website. Hello and welcome to a show that remembers when the Muppets had their own variety show, complete with A-List celebrities and it was hosted by freaking puppets and it was STILL more entertaining than any episode of Big Bang Theory or as we like to call it, Now That I'm Older. And I would love to say that this week we break into some awesome story or some news article that blows your mind, but no. Due to tragically unseen terms, Shane was not able to podcast this past weekend. This directly stemmed from him riding a scooter! But Kenny made Shane promise to hold off on telling this story, until they were together to record. So this week, we bring back some of our favorite clips from the past couple of years and we promise to have new material soon (hopefully next week) and the story of Shane's Scooter Extravaganza! Have a great week guys! BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THAT I'M OLDER HERE: FACEBOOK ITUNES GOOGLE PLAY STITCHER TWITTER INSTAGRAM SIGN UP TO BE A PATRON TODAY

We’ll talk with Claire about that show and we’ll listen to music from three of her albums: "Claire and the Classical Revolution," "Waiting For The Winds To Change" and "Kamikaze." After that, we’ll hear two new singles from two other KC acts, The Dear Misses and Kat King.

It's going to get messy, so if that’s a problem for you, you might want to skip this episode, or you can fairly safely listen to the first 9 and the last 4 minutes. I'm 6 days overdue. I can't imagine it's possible to be any bigger! I'm so uncomfortable and it's so hot! But I need to get out. I go to the little suburban supermarket near home, and think of my mother. Her waters broke with my brother in this very supermarket 34 years ago. I shop quickly, before history has a chance to repeat! I have an acupuncture appointment in the afternoon, and the acupuncturist can barely contain her excitement as she does her best induce labor. I have another appointment booked for the next day, but she doesn’t think I’ll be there. I go home, rest and drink raspberry leaf tea. It's supposed to help too. Labor might begin at any moment. Then again, it could be another week. I go to bed, trying to put it all out of my mind. For me, it had been a bit of a dark week, waiting and not knowing when our life together will start. I wake up during the night and feel a sudden gush. It's my waters, they've broken. There's meconium in them. I know this means it's urgent. We race to hospital. Labor happens in a blur, with moments of hyper-sharp focus. You are born! Not By Accident is made by me, Sophie Harper, supported by 152 generous donors through the Australian Cultural Fund.
