Tyler Ramsey is fresh off the playa — and this time, he experienced Burning Man sober. On this episode of Punk Rock Sober, Tyler sits down with travel expert and Travel With Meaning host Mike Shibel to talk about something people don't always associate with sobriety: having completely wild, unforgettable adventures. From Burning Man and Art Basel to New Orleans, Sequoia National Park, swimming with whale sharks in La Paz, sauna culture in Finland, surf trips in Costa Rica and wellness experiences in Austria, Tyler and Mike explore ways to get the rush, connection and sense of discovery people often think they'll lose when they stop drinking or using. Tyler also gets candid about his past — including appearing on Mike's podcast during a period when he was struggling to stay sober — and why he now believes recovery shouldn't mean sitting on the sidelines of life. Can travel become its own natural high? And when you're stable in sobriety, can you still put yourself in the middle of places like Burning Man and come out stronger? Mike's philosophy is simple: meaningful travel isn't just about where you go. As he puts it, not every journey is measured in miles. Punk Rock Sober is about living fully, taking risks, owning your past and discovering what life can look like without needing substances to make it interesting. The episode explicitly moves from Tyler's high-energy destinations — Burning Man, Art Basel and New Orleans — into Mike's nature/adventure approach to sober travel. Mike also describes nature as a different kind of “high” and talks about creating meaningful, memorable travel experiences. 00:00 Tyler Just Got Back From Burning Man 00:42 Meet Travel Expert Mike Shibel 01:48 Tyler Apologizes for His Past Podcast Appearance 05:07 Tyler Opens Up About Not Being Able to Stay Sober 06:05 Addiction, Regret & the MTV Opportunity 07:37 The Best Wild Experiences to Have Sober 08:27 #1 — Burning Man Sober 10:01 Tyler Was Offered Drugs at Burning Man 11:14 Nature as a Natural High 11:52 The Idea of “Sober Debauchery” 14:12 #2 — Art Basel Miami 18:00 #3 — Mardi Gras & New Orleans 20:03 Why Sobriety Shouldn't Limit Your Life 23:07 Mike's Travel With Meaning Philosophy 25:00 National Parks & Sequoia 30:00 Joshua Tree & Adventure Travel 31:00 Swimming With Whale Sharks 32:00 La Paz & the Sea of Cortez 35:00 Cruises, Alaska & the Galápagos 38:00 Finland: The Sauna Capital of the World 44:00 An Art Sauna in the Finnish Forest 46:00 Travel Traditions & Costa Rica 48:00 Surf Trips as a Natural High 50:00 Surf & Yoga Retreats in Costa Rica 52:00 High-End Travel & Meaningful Experiences 54:00 Festivals Around the World 56:00 Yoga, Hiking & Wellness in Austria 58:00 Exploring the Austrian Alps

They go back to the wild early days of reality television, when Tyler and Isabel worked on massive productions including Joe Millionaire and Survivor, managing huge casting operations and traveling the world. But behind the success, Tyler's drinking was becoming increasingly unpredictable. Bellatini remembers the late-night phone calls, disastrous wedding speeches, bar incidents and the London hotel room Tyler flooded after falling asleep in a bathtub with the water running. Tyler looks back at how often charisma, friends and sheer luck helped him escape permanent consequences—and why even frightening incidents weren't enough to make him change. The conversation also turns to Bellatini's own reinvention: leaving television behind, becoming a DJ and community organizer, learning to take responsibility for her own happiness, and building a life around creativity, connection and purpose. Sometimes the people who knew you before recovery remember a version of you that you can barely recognize. 00:00 Elizabeth joins Punk Rock Sober 01:27 The golden age of reality TV 03:58 Working on Survivor 08:00 Bellatini on marriage and non-monogamy 08:47 Reinventing herself as a DJ 10:30 Using music to build community 11:25 Starting over when television slowed down 11:50 Growing up in an immigrant family 14:30 Tyler's alcoholism from a friend's perspective 19:05 The London hotel disaster 20:15 Falling asleep in a running bathtub 21:45 “You could have totally died” 25:00 Tyler's drunken engagement-party behavior 27:00 The disastrous wedding speech 31:10 Another wedding speech goes horribly wrong 33:15 Bellatini's second marriage 34:10 Throwing a beer into a packed bar 35:25 Somehow Tyler gets away with it 35:50 Two DUIs still weren't enough 36:20 When Tyler's family became worried 37:00 What do you do when a friend has a problem? 38:00 Taking responsibility for your own suffering 39:15 Stop suffering and “do the math” 40:35 Friends Over Followers 48:20 Identity, race and decolonizing old beliefs Painful Lessons — We Own Mistakes.
Trek Thunder Kelly has spent his life testing a radical idea: what if you treated your life itself as a work of art? Artist, adventurer and longtime friend and mentor of Tyler Ramsey, Trek has worn a tuxedo every day for a year, lived an entire year in one specific shade of blue, ran for Governor of California, sold his possessions and disappeared into the desert, traveled through more than 80 countries, and turned kindness into an international experiment. Tyler calls it being “recovered from society.” In this episode of Punk Rock Sober, Trek and Tyler talk about choosing the person you want to become, why discipline creates freedom, keeping promises to yourself, knowing when a chapter of your life is over, forgiveness, friendship, sobriety and the surprising power of small acts of kindness. Trek also tells an extraordinary story about meeting a stranger on a cliff in Australia. What began with offering the man a photograph became a reminder that we rarely know what another person is going through — and that something seemingly insignificant can change a life. The conversation turns to Trek's own experiment with sobriety. After being challenged by a friend, he stopped drinking for a year at UCLA — then extended it through all four years of college. For Trek, the larger discovery wasn't simply sobriety. It was learning that keeping a commitment to yourself can fundamentally change what you believe you're capable of doing. They also explore an idea that might change the way you think about getting older: we can “reincarnate” multiple times during a single lifetime. Careers end. Relationships change. Identities evolve. Instead of holding onto a chapter after it has ended, Trek argues that we can consciously author the next one. This isn't just a conversation about recovery from substances. It's about recovering your ability to choose your own life. After years of publicly discussing sobriety, Brad Pitt is now drinking again—and Tyler thinks people in recovery are making a mistake if they allow someone else's decision to influence their own. The conversation expands into Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr., Bradley Cooper, celebrity role models, relapse, personal responsibility and why somebody else's recovery—or lack of it—should never become an excuse to abandon what's working in your own life. Tyler's central message: if getting sober repaired the damage in your life, don't throw that away because somebody famous made a different choice. Robert Downey Jr. and Bradley Cooper come up as contrasting examples of people whose lives and careers Tyler believes continued to grow alongside sobriety. But this is a Tyler solo episode, so naturally that's only the beginning. Tyler gets into the universe and the speed of light, why some of us seem to have a built-in self-destruct button, sober Burning Man, his new stand-up alter ego “Turbo,” relationships you know you shouldn't be in, the explosion of alcohol-free culture, testosterone and peptides, and the unfortunate moment he discovered—too late—that the video game he bought his 10-year-old contained some very adult material. Plus, Tyler looks back at some of his most memorable Punk Rock Sober guests, including Marcus Capone, and talks about why he'd like to sit down with Hunter Biden for a future episode. Punk Rock Sober is about raw-dogging reality—recovery, addiction, life, culture, comedy and everything that happens when you stop trying to numb the experience. Louis Ruggiero got sober from drugs and alcohol and kept gambling, until it cost him $10.2 million, his savings, and very nearly his life. In this conversation with Tyler Ramsey he tells the whole story: the comped Vegas weekends, the $65,000 cash bets, the newborn son he couldn't be present for, and the phone call that finally stopped him. Christian Vierling built an audience of 2.7 million on TikTok making people laugh — but he tells Tyler Ramsey the part he doesn't post: getting sober didn't fix him, it's what finally let two decades of undiagnosed OCD surface. From a childhood spent silently repeating the same ritual to the exposure-therapy technique he uses today, this is a rawer, funnier, more specific conversation about mental health than most recovery episodes get to.In this episode:· Why Christian calls "the phone" the biggest addiction he has left· Tyler's own confession: the MTV audition he blew because he "took a bunch of Adderall and couldn't communicate"· Gaining 30 pounds in rehab on vending-machine food and a hot dog cut into three pieces· The moment he calls "the most powerful" of his life — getting sober and "meeting God"· Why the first two years of sobriety were the hardest, and his advice: "just power through"· The childhood OCD ritual: the same words, repeated 25 times a day, for years· How he learned to "label the thought" instead of drowning in it — the technique he still uses· The twist almost nobody talks about: "that's when the OCD really came on," after he got sober· How his girlfriend Saskia pulled him out of a depression he was hiding from everyone· Building a 2.7-million-follower audience, and why he once stepped away from it completelyGuest: Christian Vierling, actor and content creator (2.7M+ TikTok) known for comedy sketches with his girlfriend, Saskia.Host: Tyler Ramsey. This groundbreaking multigenerational talk, released December 15 and now on YouTube, redefined norms with Hubermans humble insights on bravery as showing up amid fear, landing big with recovery crowds.A niche ripple hit December 19 on YouTube, where SunPowerLEDs Tom Kerber reviewed Hubermans recent two-part interview with Dr. Glen Jeffery on light therapy for brain health, concussions, PTSD, even dementia and Parkinsons, praising its vision-boosting potential. No major public appearances or business moves surfaced, and social media buzz stays steady with fans on Huberman Lab praising his digestible science. Unconfirmed whispers of broader LED therapy expansions linger from that review, but nothing verified. Hubermans quiet dominance in neuroscience chatter continues, no scandals, just science that sticks.Get the best deals https://amzn.to/3ODvOtaThis content was created in partnership and with the help of Artificial Intelligence AI

This week on No Simple Road we are stoked to have Tyler Ramsey as our guest on the show! At the core of any great singer-songwriter lies this inherent trait of stage presence, one where an entire room, no matter the size, is pulled in by this lyrical tractor beam — all eyes, emotions and energies aimed in one direction at a single voice. For Tyler Ramsey, it's being able to honestly connect with the listener, whether it be a packed room amid a live show or just someone throwing on his melodies in their own time and space. “Writing is simply a release for me,” Ramsey said. “It's a way for me to process my own path through this life. Some of the time I get it right — my aim is always honesty in writing.” Albeit a genuinely humble soul, don't let Ramsey's words fool you. When it comes to the modern-day singer-songwriter, Ramsey remains a bastion of musical talent and lyrical aptitude — a melodic voice-of-reason and safe haven amid a 21st century world seemingly gone mad. The former lead guitarist of Band of Horses, Ramsey has also released four acclaimed solo albums, including “For The Morning” in 2019. We talk with Tyler about: - Building a life in the woods including vuilding a cabin and recording studio. -Craving solitude and using it as fuel for creativity. -The Asheville music scene. - Meeting Circles Around The SUn and Neal Casal in a guitar shop. -How lyrics are a tool for sorting through moments in time. - His new album New Lost Ages ... and a ton more.
