Your significant other of six years has a narcissistic personality disorder and an unhealthy relationship with alcohol. Even when sober, she can turn on a dime and engage in narcissistic rage, which includes venomous, disrespectful rants and the destruction of expensive artwork. It seems obvious that you should break up with her, but she's unemployable and unable to care for herself, and living arrangements for whoever leaves would be difficult to secure in the midst of the pandemic. What's your next move? We'll do what we can to help assuage narcissistic rage and more here on Feedback Friday! And in case you didn't already know it, Jordan Harbinger (@JordanHarbinger) and Gabriel Mizrahi (@GabeMizrahi) banter and take your comments and questions for Feedback Friday right here every week! What do you do when your significant other ruins your stuff in fits of narcissistic rage but breaking up is logistically difficult? [Thanks to friend and therapist Kim Seltzer for helping us field this one!] You're excited about becoming a first-time parent, but you're worried it won't allow you the time to do your full-time job and pursue a career in competitive golf. Does this make you a selfish jerk? An opening for advancement has come up at your company, but you're not sure you're ready for it just yet. Should you go for it anyway, or wait until you've got more experience under your belt and hope that opportunity knocks again? While you're not currently disabled, you do have multiple sclerosis that will gradually incapacitate you to some degree over time. Are you obligated to disclose this on a job application? Your significant other is hyper-productive and passionate, but you suspect their motivation is hitched to bipolar tendencies that take their toll on you. What are some strategies you can build to deal with this type of personality and keep yourself sane? A past business partnership turned sour and went bust. While you've moved on and started your own successful business since then, you can't help but harbor ill will for your past partner and how things went down. How can you just get over it, already? Already the parents of a special needs child, you made the difficult decision to terminate a pregnancy that would have resulted in another. Unfortunately, your in-laws were religiously opposed to the option you chose and you had to exaggerate the diagnosis for their support. How do you strike a balance between the part these in-laws play in your life and your own family's autonomy? In your 30s, you changed careers to a frontline job in healthcare. It gave you personal fulfillment and more money, but also a challenging lifestyle with lots of on-call time while raising two children. Now that your kids are older, should you commit your last working years to "contributing to the profession," or is it okay to finish out your career continuing to focus on giving great care to your patients? On the networking list you created for Six-Minute Networking, you tend to mostly include older professionals with more experience. Is this the right way to go, or should you stay connected with your peers as well? Have any questions, comments, or stories you'd like to share with us? Drop us a line at friday@jordanharbinger.com! Why We Love Jenn Jenn Kriske is the founder of Machines for Freedom, a high performance apparel brand for women in the cycling community. She landed on the idea for the company after realizing what basically every woman who has ever taken up cycling eventually realizes - that the bike industry didn't give a shit about women.  Machines for Freedom has created palpable changes in the cycling world, which have led to an industry-wide shift in women's marketing. The company has not only proved to the industry that an entire market exists, but they've innovated and elevated cycling apparel for women in a way no other brand has (though they try), while building a strong and organic community of women who support each other, challenge themselves, and spread good vibes. On the Pod, We Discuss: What led Jenn to create more apparel options for women in the sport and change the view around the sport in terms of what a classic cyclist looks like How traditional clothing can prevent women from getting started in cycling Why the equipment itself can lend itself to body image issues Starting her company and what led her to develop her first kit The history of women in cycling and why clothing is a microcosm of the industry at large The intersection of cycling and body positivity, and how Machines for Freedom was one of the first brands to actively promote it How inclusive marketing has affected the brand and why it’s so important How Jenn landed on the name of the company and the historical context The constructs put on women around femininity and sexuality and the kit Jenn developed to challenge them Her experience running the company over the past years and the biggest hurdles she has faced as an entrepreneur What you need to know if you’re interested in getting into cycling and how to find a community that’s a good fit Her outlook on the future of the industry, body positivity and inclusive retail And much more Helpful Links:  The Machines for Freedom website Follow Machines for Freedom on Instagram and Facebook Video from Specialized: The Issue Is: Cycling’s Body Problem Bicycling.com article about the “fruits” kit For more info and to view full show notes visit wellnesslately.com/podcast

She writes extensively on what it’s really like to do the work she does, in addition to sharing the inside scoop on her very full human life. On the Pod, We Discuss: What an Intuitive is and how Susan works with people How Susan came to understand she was intuitive and had the ability to read others The difference between Susan’s experience as an Intuitive and everyone else’s experience of the world The difference between clairvoyance, empathy, and mediumship  Why self-care is important for her, and how she goes “off the clock” to turn off the downloads Why being an Intuitive, in terms of a career, can be marginalized or seen as entertainment and why it’s problematic The common reasons people go to work with Susan and what they’re looking for What a session with Susan looks like and what people can expect What specifically she sees an Intuitive (it’s not everything) and the various degrees to which things are clear Why the coaching she gives may be different for people at different ages Why slowing down and living intuitively can be more effective than being busy and going at full speed & power Susan’s definition of intuition  Why intuition may be marginalized as a result of being associated with the divine feminine, despite it being a gender-neutral ability Why parenting is the best hands-on training for developing and trusting intuition How we can encourage a more intuitive experience for children, rather than excluding it over other types of knowledge The type of meditation Susan uses in her own life and developed for her clients to foster an intuitive experience The tools we can use to embrace our own intuition in our lives Why we don’t always get clarification around the reason we get a specific intuitive feeling (for example, why we should or shouldn’t go on a trip or rent an apartment or go on a second date) How to differentiate between anxiety/paranoia/fear and an intuitive hit Spiritual creativity: the difference between willfully manifesting something and allowing intuition to flow and how they’re related The first steps to take to get in tune with your intuition And so much more Helpful Links:  Visit Susan’s website to connect with her, book a call or read her blog Follow Susan on Instagram Follow Susan on Facebook View more info and show notes at wellnesslately.com/podcast

Today we’re talking about prison reform that gives inmates a second chance to heal, change, and become liberated from their past traumas and old destructive behaviors.   The most important element of the prison experience for an inmate is supposed to be rehabilitation. Yet, statistics, unfortunately, show that over 67% of prisoners are arrested for a new crime within three years of their release. A big part of this problem is that after many people serve time, their release brings forth a new kind of prison. This often includes homelessness and poverty due to the limitations they are faced with because of their criminal record. Access to jobs, education, housing - all of the things that they need to get a fresh start - are scarce, to say the least, and the odds aren't often in their favor. Spiritual leader and master healer, Brahman Kyrie, joins me today to discuss the impactful work that she's doing with inmates in Donovan State Prison through spiritual teachings that support them on a journey of healing, rehabilitation, transformation, and liberation.   We Discuss: What's going in the prison system today and how we can improve prison reform  Why proper rehabilitation is crucial for the safety of society and those incarcerated Addressing and healing pain, trauma, and emotional triggers through inner child work  What the “Freedom on the Inside” Prison Project is doing for incarcerated individuals The stigma and crippling limitations that inmates are faced with after being released   For the full show notes visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com

Why We Love Lizzy: For starters, she’s Dana’s bestie from high school who turned into her sister-in-law (married Dana’s brother, Mike). But for our purposes, we wanted to interview her because she’s a super smart cognitive behavioral therapist. After graduating from UMASS, Amherst with a BA in Psychology, she went on to earn her Master’s in Forensic Psych from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City followed by her both her MS and PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Basically, Dr. Lizzy is in expert in how our brains work, why we do what we do, and how to harness the power of our mindset to make positive changes in ours life, stop feeling stuck and become way more effective at achieving our goals. Oh, and how to feel way better in our own skin now (and in the future, with practice). One of our favorite convos yet. On the Pod, We Discuss: What cognitive behavioral therapy actually is and who it can be helpful for. The physiological responses we have to our own thoughts aka the very real mind-body connection we’re all experiencing. Why everyone on Earth has what cognitive behavioral therapists call “distorted thoughts” and how they affect us. How to uncover and shift our distorted thoughts to overcome challenges and get out of our own way. What ‘automatic thoughts’ are and how they can be problematic. How we can harness the power of our confirmation bias to stop ourselves from binging on the Dove Darks. How we all ‘mind read’ and ‘fortune tell’ and why we need to stop. How and why you might want to become your own defense attorney. Why our entire life experience is basically all in our heads. And so much more. Today we’re shining a light on the side of Elvis Presley that very few people know about.  In this show, we explore the life of someone who had such incredible energy and really made a mark on this world. When Elvis came along, nobody had ever created music quite like his before, and he did a lot of amazing things to revolutionize the way that music was. But, image makers were stuck on creating a version of Elvis that wasn’t really true to who he was or what he wanted to portray. They wanted him to project himself into the world as the Elvis we’re all familiar with, sporting the slicked-back hair and gyrating hips. But what happens to a person that’s forced to live an incongruent life and show up inauthentically? Elvis had a lot more to himself than what most of us saw from the outside looking in, and there are things about him and his story that we can all learn from today. Gary Lindberg, author of the new book Letters from Elvis, has spent 30 years of research and incredible effort putting together this work that explores the depths and truth of Elvis Presley. He joins me today to share more about his book that originated from letters written by Elvis to his spiritual guide and provides us with some real insight into who Elvis really was.   We Discuss: What often happens to individuals that are living an incongruent or inauthentic life What made Gary Lindberg decide to do all of the work to bring this book into fruition The relationship and memories that Elvis had with his stepbrother David Stanley How Elvis’ letters were discovered and who the spiritual guide was that he connected with The pain, trauma, and intense frustration that Elvis dealt with in his personal life and career   For the full show notes visit: www.ChangeItUpRadio.com
