Considered talented and exotic, she caught the media's attention and her engagement to Frank Sinatra fuelled their fascination further. But was it love and what did Sinatra make of Juliet's relationship with Elvis during G.I. Blues? Unhappy with 20th Century Fox, Juliet broke out of her contract, created her own company and became one of the highest paid dancers of her era on a $1 million Las Vegas contract in the mid-1970s.

After an intensive two week deep dive reassessing the work of producer Felton Jarvis, Justin comes up for air only to find one Gurdip Ladhar waiting patiently at the surface.  Gurdip eases his way into the water, bringing along a favorite comfort Camden, 1971's "I Got Lucky," a collection of songs mostly comprised of movie material previously only available on Extended Plays (and one excellent non-movie single B-side!)   But we're not quite done with Felton yet - the last two episodes provoked some great responses long and short from Elvis fans of all kinds, and we tackle some of the most pointed questions and queries to result from the effort. Gurdip also gives his thoughts on recent Elvis news. For Song of the Week, Gurdip picks up right where he left off, picking the upbeat "I Love Only One Girl" from the feature film "Double Trouble," while Justin goes all-in on another one of Elvis's singularly iconic 1950s rock-and-blues recordings that's wildly out of season: "Santa Claus is Back in Town."

Legendary entertainer, Pat Boone continues sharing his 70-year journey in music, television, and movies on this second half of our interview. Pat Boone was ninety years old when the interview was conducted over a Zoom call. Host, Byron Tyler normally records up to thirty minutes in order to produce the Mid-South View Point show. However, on the afternoon that Byron and Pat did the interview, Pat from his home in Beverly Hills, California, the conversation quickly turned into two hours. Pat Boone is the #10 all-time top recording artist. Pat was married to Shirley (Foley) Boone (daughter of Country star ‘Red' Foley) for over 65 years before her passing. Pat Boone made his first appearance nationally on “The Ted Mack Amateur Hour” (in which he became the original American Idol, selected week after week by the viewers), and later appeared on “The Arthur Godfrey Show.” Those appearances would introduce his talent to record producer Randy Wood of Dot Records who thought Pat Boone could sing rock ‘n roll. He became the youngest person in history to have his own weekly musical variety show (ABC), at times the number one show in television featuring many first time-on-TV artists like Sammy Davis, Ella Fitzgerald and Nat ‘King' Cole. Elvis Presley once opened for Pat Boone at a big disc jockey “sock hop” in Cleveland in 1956. “I had to follow him,” recollects Pat. “Thank God I had 3 million-selling hit records already and I was the star that night. But I never wanted to follow Elvis again!” Pat Boone is also a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. This is the second half of a two-part interview with Pat Boone.

Andrew Gordon and John Humphrey take on Mel Gibson's powerful WWII biographical drama Hacksaw Ridge (2016), spotlighting one of the most heroic and unlikely war stories in American history. Based on the true story of Desmond Doss, a devout Seventh-day Adventist and conscientious objector who saved 75 men during the Battle of Okinawa without ever carrying a weapon, the film delivers intense battlefield realism and a moving portrait of faith and courage. Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man, Tick, Tick... Boom!) stars as Desmond Doss in an Oscar-nominated performance, capturing the medic's unwavering pacifism and quiet strength. Teresa Palmer (Lights Out, Warm Bodies) plays Dorothy Schutte, Desmond's devoted wife, while Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings) portrays his war-haunted father, Tom Doss. Rachel Griffiths (Six Feet Under, Muriel's Wedding) plays Bertha Doss, Desmond's supportive mother. The film also stars Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation) as Captain Glover, Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, True Detective) in a memorable dramatic turn as the tough Sergeant Howell, and Luke Bracey (Point Break, Elvis) as Smitty, Desmond's fellow soldier and eventual ally. From harrowing basic training confrontations to the unflinching combat at Hacksaw Ridge itself, the movie features unforgettable scenes like Desmond's night-long rescue of the wounded, his prayerful mantra “Please Lord, help me get one more,” and the climactic cliffside descent with wounded soldiers in tow. With brutal intensity & spiritual depth, Hacksaw Ridge is both a visceral war film and a moving testament to nonviolence and conviction. Watts Up? (Chris Watts Family Murder)

After the Watts tragedy NK seemed to stage a very elaborate disappearing act and can anyone blame her? Some claimed witness protection but she was not a witness and there WAS no trial. But still the public has seen not hide nor hair of her In 7 years, until recently. If you believe....within the past 7 years there have been more alleged NK stings than Elvis or Jesus. Are/were any of these legit? It DOES feel like we are living in a simulation and news has become a choose your own adventure story most recently demonstrated by the recent rumblings suggesting that Air India which killed over 200 people within seconds after take off was NOT an accident but perhaps a suicide mission from a depressed pilot. Is that even fathomable??? Well yes history has shown that indeed it is and the truth often stranger than fiction. But then the counterargument is that this was merely a cover story spun by the embattled Boeing corporation. Which is MORE likely? DID Nk do a cameo after all these years or are we all just being punked? You decide

We're celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, we're revisiting our 2016 conversation with Mike Stoller. ABOUT MIKE STOLLERMike Stoller has written more than 60 songs that have appeared on the Billboard charts, including the #1 hits “Hound Dog,” “Kansas City,” “Yakety Yak,”  “Searchin',” “Jailhouse Rock,” “Poison Ivy,” “Stand By Me,” “Young Blood,” “Don't,” and “Ruby, Baby." After Stoller and songwriting partner Jerry Leiber found early R&B success with recordings by Little Esther, Charles Brown, Ray Charles, and Big Mama Thornton, Elvis Presley turned their song "Hound Dog" into a #1 single on the pop, R&B, and country charts in 1956. Elvis went on to record more than 20 Leiber and Stoller titles, including the hits "Love Me," "Loving You," "Jailhouse Rock," "Treat Me Nice," "She's Not You," and "Bossa Nova Baby." Mike and Jerry signed an independent production deal with Atlantic Records in the mid-1950s, where they wrote and produced a series of hits for several artists, including the Drifters' "There Goes My Baby," "Dance With Me," and "On Broadway." Additionally, the pair wrote and produced all the Coasters' singles, including "Young Blood," "Searchin'," "Charlie Brown," "Along Came Jones," and "Poison Ivy." Other highlights from the Leiber and Stoller songbook include "Love Potion No. 9," which was a hit for both the Clovers and the Searchers, and "Is That All There Is," which was a hit for Peggy Lee. Eleven different versions of their song “Stand By Me” appeared on the Billboard charts over the span of 50 years, with the original version by Ben E. King hitting the Top 10 in both 1961 and 1986. Smokey Joe's Cafe, which included 40 Leiber and Stoller songs, opened in 1995 and became the longest running musical revue in Broadway history. Stoller received the prestigious ASCAP Founders Award in 1991, has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and is a member of both the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

After setting the stage by understanding producer Felton Jarvis's career leading up to his early collaborations with Elvis, we continue to investigate and interrogate the fan belief that he was singularly to blame for the "syrupy" overdubs that diminished the "pure" unfinished tracks. Helped along by a 1980 interview done between Felton and Jerry Flowers of RCA in which the producer talks about his career retrospectively, Justin and Bec trace Felton's journey as Elvis hires and hand-picks him to be his exclusive producer, taking Felton away from RCA and other artists so that Elvis can, as a largely autonomous artist whose only studio commitments during this decade are to send periodic deliverables to RCA, work at his own pace and create the kind of recordings that he truly wants. But was Felton truly to blame for the overindulgent strings and horns that were added to Elvis's music, or is there someone else that we've collectively overlooked? And has the narrative been all wrong and the way we even talk about "overdubs" been clouded by a widespread "rockist" misunderstanding of both Elvis and Felton, their respective jobs and tastes, and misunderstood expectations of the kind of music both fans & critics thought Elvis "should" be making?  The duo examine Elvis's live performances in relation to his studio work, touch on a few more non-Elvis records produced by Felton, and even revisit the 1981 "Guitar Man" project Felton spearheaded before his early death to see if it provides clearer insight into the producer's preferences and tastes. For Song of the Week, Bec makes a promise that "It Won't Be Long," covering the recording cut from "Double Trouble," while Justin goes prospecting because he's pretty sure "There's Gold in the Mountains" still to be dug up from "Kissin' Cousins." Some of the resources consulted for this and the last episode included, even if not quoted or mentioned in the final episode: Felton Jarvis's 1980 Interview with Jerry Flowers of RCA William Bozeman: "Felton Jarvis: The Man Behind the Music" from Elvis Express Magazine Peter Guralnick: Careless Love: The Unmaking of Elvis Presley Roben Jones: Memphis Boys: The Story of American Studios Rick Hall: The Man from Muscle Shoals: My Journey from Shame to Fame Norbert Putnam: Musical Memories, Volume 1 Ernst Jorgensen: Elvis Presley - A Life in Music Ernst Jorgensen & Peter Guralnick: "Elvis Day By Day" and "The Complete Masters" Ernst Jorgensen, Johnny Mikkelsen & Erik Rasmussen: Reconsider Baby: The Definitive Elvis Sessionography Elvis Music FAQ by Mike Eder Alanna Nash: "Revelations from the Memphis Mafia" & "The Colonel" Luther Moore: "Felton Jarvis Re-Appraised" from Elvis: The Man & His Music magazine Brian F.
