Williams believe that the new layout will be more suitable to the FW45 than the old one. The organisers have replaced four 90 degree slow corners with a 400 metre long straight. They say that the layout change is to accommodate ongoing developments on the streets of Singapore, or is it really? They do anything these days to boost 'overtaking' in Formula 1. A high downforce circuit that's tough on it's tyres. Add to it the physical challenge for the drivers - the heat and humidity. ¡Menudo fin de semana de motor el pasado! En este primer episodio de la semana, el equipo del podcast Técnica Fórmula 1 se para a analizar la carrera de Fórmula 1 en Francia, haciendo además una mención muy especial a la proeza de la vuelta al escalón más alto del podio de un Marc Márquez que dio una lección magistral de pilotaje. Y nos espera otro fin de semana “calentito”: La F1 llega a Austria, que nos ha dado grandes carreras los últimos años, el WRC que vuelve a Kenia tras décadas y, por si fuera poco, no queremos perdernos MotoGP en Assen. Pero comencemos por analizar lo que ya ha pasado para centrarnos en el siguiente episodio en todo lo que nos viene. Paul Ricard nos da una gran carrera. Contra todo pronóstico, la carrera en Paul Ricard fue realmente interesante y nos tuvo en vilo hasta los compases finales de la carrera, gracias a la igualdad entre los dos equipos más fuertes de la parrilla, los errores de pilotaje y los de estrategia, que nos hicieron disfrutar mucho. La de este año es una F1 realmente bonita y es para estar de enhorabuena. Al final, Verstappen se resarció del desastre de Baku, ganando en la pista a Hamilton. Y red Bull, por su parte, ganó a Mercedes por estrategia: por dos veces engañaron a los alemanes, dos undercuts que Mercedes ni se olió. Parecía que los germanos tenían más ritmo, pero no mucho más, si no, no hubiéramos visto lo que vimos. En una pista Mercedes, Red Bull se llevó el gato al agua, lo que significa, en palabras de Horner, que si han ganado aquí, les pueden ganar en cualquier trazado. Y, añado, que los espectadores vamos a disfrutar mucho esta temporada y su igualdad. Más que Hamilton y Verstappen. No podemos dejar de resaltarlo: ahora Red Bull tiene dos pilotos de nivel que pueden luchar por todo. Han hecho un gran negocio fichando a Pérez, quien podría seguir en el equipo bastante tiempo si sigue con este gran rendimiento. Por detrás las cosas no estuvieron mucho más tranquilas y habrá que reflexionar sobre el rendimiento de Ferrari (ambos coches terminaron fuera de los puntos) o de McLaren, que fueron unos auténticos aviones en pista. Y finalmente, repasando las clasificaciones de pilotos y equipos, nos encontramos, por este orden, a Verstappen, Hamilton y Pérez en los tres primeros lugares. In un regime di Safety Car causato da un incidente di Jack Aitken, i meccanici hanno montato una gomma di George Russell a Valtteri Bottas. Fregando entrambi, perché il secondo, è stato rallentato da una sosta infinita, e il primo, al comando per l'intera gara, è stato costretto a fermarsi di nuovo. E, a proposito di disastri, la vita della Mercedes, prima che se la complicassero da soli, è stata resa certamente più facile dal ritiro di due clienti scomodi, Max Verstappen e Charles Leclerc. Nelle primissime fasi della gara, un incidente causato da Leclerc ha posto fine non solo alla sua gara, ma pure a quella di Verstappen, finito a muro dopo essersi insinuato nella ghiaia per evitare di essere coinvolto nella carambola tra Leclerc e Perez. Il risultato è uno zero pesante, soprattutto per Verstappen, che ha perso, non per colpa sua, un'occasione d'oro per vincere.Le emozioni sono cominciate già alla partenza, con Russell capace, pronti via, di fregare il ben più esperto Bottas, scattato malissimo. Bottas, in stato catatonico, ha poi rischiato di essere passato da Verstappen e da Perez. Il messicano è stato toccato da Leclerc mentre quest'ultimo stava tentando di mantenere la posizione su Verstappen. L'olandese, dal canto suo, è finito a muro per evitare entrambi. Con la ghiaia, non ha avuto scampo. Un disastro, in poche parole, per gli occupanti della seconda fila, entrambi costretti al ritiro. L'unico che è riuscito a continuare è stato Perez, finito però in fondo alla classifica dopo la sosta per cambiare l'ala.Bottas, mentre la Cenerentola Russell ripartiva alla grande dopo il regime di Safety Car, ha fatto la figura del bell'addormentato, facendosi passare di forza da Sainz. La troppa foga dello spagnolo, però, lo ha indotto ad un lungo, di cui ha approfittato il finlandese. Molto più indietro, Vettel ha vissuto un primo stint difficile, subendo diversi sorpassi, pur cercando di difendersi. Decisamente più agevole la fase iniziale di gara per il leader Russell, molto più incisivo di Bottas, suonato dal nuovo compagno di squadra come sarebbe successo con Hamilton. E se Bottas risultava plafonato, Perez scalpitava, entrando in zona punti intorno al ventesimo giro.I due piloti della Mercedes hanno ritardato la propria sosta rispetto a chi calzava le soft al via. L'unico che ha osato uno stint lunghissimo con le soft è Stroll, fermatosi dopo 43 giri. Il degrado degli pneumatici, per la verità, è stato decisamente meno significativo di quanto si potesse preventivare alla vigilia. Un dato che ha sicuramente rinfrancato Perez, tornato in terza posizione dopo aver montato le hard ad inizio gara a causa dell'incidente con Leclerc. Il messicano, però, si è poi fermato per montare le hard. Russell si è fermato al termine del giro numero 46 per montare le hard, rientrando alle spalle di Bottas.In Mercedes hanno cercato di fare gli sgargianti, con un doppio pit stop finito in un casino indecente. A Russell, per sbaglio, è stata montata una gomma di Bottas. La confusione più totale successiva ha rallentato moltissimo il finlandese, che è rientrato in quinta posizione. Ma pure Russell, con la gomma sbagliata montata, è stato costretto a rientrare ai box per cambiare il treno. L'inglese è rientrato alle spalle di Bottas dopo un vero harakiri, lasciando spazio ad un nuovo leader della corsa, Perez.Alla ripartenza, Russell ha fieramente passando Bottas, ma poi è finito fuori dai punti, e sub judice per il bailamme delle gomme.Quarta posizione per Carlos Sainz, della McLaren. Quinto è Daniel Ricciardo, della Renault; seguono Alexander Albon, della Red Bull, Daniil Kvyat, dell'Alpha Tauri, e Bottas. Completano la top ten Russell e Lando Norris, della McLaren. Undicesimo è Pierre Gasly, dell'Alpha Tauri, davanti a Sebastian Vettel, della Ferrari, ai due alfieri di casa Alfa Romeo Racing, Antonio Giovinazzi e Kimi Raikkonen. Chiudono lo schieramento Kevin Magnussen e Pietro Fittipaldi, della Haas, e Jack Aitken, della Williams.
