But for all his speed, and all his talent, Maldonado also found himself on the end of a large amount of criticism, sometimes from his fellow drivers, sometimes from the press, for his flamboyant and always committed approach. This week on Beyond The Grid, Maldonado pulls no punches as he discusses the highs and lows of his F1 career, including that famous victory in Barcelona, his run-ins with other drivers, being labelled a pay driver, the pressure from his homeland and much, much more.

It was such a busy week this week that we didn't even realize that this was our 100th show until after we finished recording. You didn't miss anything by us being off last week - there wasn't a whole lot happening.  This week however, even without Indy we would have had a full show. Surprise! F1 fans don't want gimmicks to "improve the show" Pastor Maldonado has crawled out of his cave to tell us that it's his choice that he's not in F1 and not because nobody trusts him with their car. Ross Brawn is putting his own stamp on F1 (again). Sauber will do anything for cheap engines. Force India is upset over how they were penalized for their numbers. Lewis Hamilton is channeling Lightning McQueen. Did Ferrari favor Seb over Kimi? Scott Dixon had an amazing shunt at Indianapolis - and walked away. Oh and another Honda engine blew itself up on Fernando Alonso...

As Motorsport's most-awaited weekend nears, Mithila and Kunal had to make a tough choice while deciding what to speak about first - the 2017 Monaco Grand Prix or the Indianapolis 500? We can't possibly wonder how Fernando Alonso made up his mind! And damn the Indy 500 traditions for not being Raikkonen-friendly. In this week's episode, we discuss the long and short of wheelbases, Jenson Button's return to Formula 1, Carlos Sainz Jr.'s most-certain departure from Toro Rosso for 2018 (and how he should NEVER take career advice from a certain Fernando), Pastor Maldonado's misconception, Hamilton's love for Indian food and how we hope and pray for a combined racing weekend of MotoGP and Formula 1 action at the same venue. This week we got an answer to a burning question that we know has been at the forefront of everybody's mind - what has Pastor Maldonado been up to? Turns out he's still holding out for a "competitive" race seat, which is why he was apparently in talks with the virtually defunct KV racing to get an IndyCar seat - as long as he didn't have to drive on ovals... Pastor says that he also had talks with Sauber but couldn't come to an agreement and was hopeful that Nico Rosberg's retirement would have led to an opportunity for him to join a competitive team... As everyone had pretty much expected by now - Valteri Bottas is moving to Mercedes and Filipe Massa's retirement has ended almost before it could actually begin. The Halo is done, although we don't know if F1 will actually adopt it. Every track will be making changes for this year's new rules - while the BRDC insists that it hasn't activated the exit close to get out of hosting the British GP. And Franz Tost thinks Formula 1 should roll out e-races...

Yes, another one of those titles where we urge you to judge our podcast by the title, or not. Disclaimer: we’re only having fun and we hope you do so too. In the Apple-Mclaren story, we wonder if Tim Cook could be the man to turn Mclaren around. And how is it that despite attracting iconic brands such as Honda, Fernando Alonso and now Apple (possibly), Mclaren isn’t able to repeat its iconic performances. However, if Apple do get involved, let’s hope that their creative team comes up with something better than iMclaren - eek! Also, is Apple’s main interest Fernando Alonso’s radio messages being available for download via iTunes? And just by the way, we’re already on iTunes, so here’s where you can subscribe: http://bit.ly/insidelinef1podcast Fernando Alonso - is he penning an autobiography? We love the Alonso 2.0 at Mclaren and let’s hope he publishes his funny radio messages, if nothing. And, our love for him shot through the roof after he declared that he wouldn’t be interested in Pokemon GO! As for Honda, they’ve expanded operations to supply to a second team in Formula 1 in the near future. Is this the real reason behind their expansion? Well, our investigative reports indicate otherwise. Oh and they also say that they’re ahead of Toro Rosso. While this claim may defy some logic, we try to prove their point. A decade since Lewis Hamilton’s first ever Formula 1 test. We talk about his legendary career and hope that we don’t lose his talent to Hollywood or Music! A Hamilton vs. Vettel vs. Alonso vs. Raikkonen vs. Verstappen battle would be stuff that dreams are made of. Would Liberty Media have the liberty to engineer such duels in the near future? We also bring focus to Anthony Hamilton’s views on Motorsport and how expensive Motorsport already is, how a draft selection policy would be good for Formula 1 but could be too cool for Formula 1 to implement. But, if drivers had performance targets, Kimi Raikkonen would’ve been shown the door this year. Yes, we talk serious stuff too, here’s proof! Formula 1 plans to exploit their gaming and gambling potential. We tell you who their Chief Gaming Officer could be, but no points for guessing the one man most worthy of the Chief Gambling Officer for the sport. Have you seen Daniel Ricciardo smile all by himself in pre-podium ceremony? We tell you the secret of his laughs. Shockingly and boldly enough, Ricciardo has rallied his support behind Nico Rosberg for the Drivers’ Championship title. We’ve a short piece of advice for the Honey Badger - beware of the trolls this week! Is Abu Dhabi Grand Prix the Pastor Maldonado of Grand Prix circuits? With Malaysia coming up this weekend, will Rosberg's ‘FOMO' drive him to yet another ‘first ever’ win? But before you pick your winner, remember: Hamilton has always finished ahead of Rosberg at Sepang, will it be any different this Sunday? Kimi Raikkonen finally won something - the ‘Driver of the Day’ in the Hungarian Grand Prix. Did Max Verstappen's fans vote for him as a 'thank you' gesture for not overtaking their driver again? And of course, we applaud Lewis Hamilton’s perfect race start - one that took him nearly 10 races to master. Not to forget, his ‘international hand gesture’ to a lesser known Esteban Gutierrez. Nico Rosberg’s third (or fourth?) consecutive date with the FIA Stewards? Did they pull him up three hours after qualifying because they didn’t have better Saturday night plans? We tell why it is brave of Mercedes and Nico Rosberg to extend their contract by two full seasons. Pascal Wehrlein might not be the only one; the news of their extension has upset a hopeful Pastor Maldonado too. Max Verstappen vs. Kimi Raikkonen, yet again. Martin Brundle termed Verstappen’s defence against Raikkonen as ‘junior formulae’ like. Then we wonder why watch Formula 1 if ‘junior formulae’ racing can be this much fun! Also, Formula 1’s ticket sales grew 6% in 2015. That’s also the year Max Verstappen started racing - just saying! P7 and applaud for Fernando Alonso’s consistency. Are Mclaren-Honda the best of the rest really? Anyway, who will have the last laugh - Alonso or Vettel? They’ve differed in their bets on Ferrari being THE team to beat Mercedes in the near future. Ferrari’s desperation in wanting to win in Formula 1 shows in their approaching Ross Brawn. We’d love to see them reunite and re-work their magic, but it seems highly unlikely. And will Williams sign Red Bull Racing’s to-be-fired Daniil Kvyat? It seems that the FIA tend to get more ridiculous each time we point our their ridiculousness. So its best we leave aside the recent ‘radio rules’ clarification, much like we did so to the ‘elimination based’ qualifying format or the double points system. Our heart goes out to Bernie Ecclestone’s family in the wake of the news of his mother-in-law (who is by the way younger than him) being kidnapped in Brazil. We try and wonder who these kidnappers could be - on a lighter note only. Nico Rosberg and Mercedes’ home is the upcoming German Grand Prix. While they will win, will he? We’ve got the second half of the season ahead of us and all to play for. Game on! (Season 2016, Episode 25) The Inside Line F1 Podcast is hosted by Mithila Mehta and Kunal Shah. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, what rock stars! Both drivers were on top if their game at the British Grand Prix. Can any constructor manage to pull off the dream team pairing of Hamilton and Verstappen? If so, which team will be the first to do so? Rosberg also visited the stewards for the third time in eight days, what’s going on there. The silly season of F1 is upon us. Big question is, which driver will go where? Will Kimi Raikkonen retain his Ferrari seat? Fernando Alonso won’t reunite with Ferrari, he’s clear about his relationship goals with them. And how long before Alonso signs up for Chip Ganassi Racing? Is Mercedes feeling peer pressure to push their young driver Pascal Wehrlein? Or is Nico Rosberg secure for 2017? If Felipe Massa doesn’t get an extension, perhaps his best retirement option would be to only groom his son for F1, inspired by Jos Verstappen! Sainz, Bottas, Button, Perez, Hulkenberg and Grosjean – plenty of drivers sniffing around for an upgraded cockpit. Pastor Maldonado doesn’t look like he’s going to get a drive, which explains why he’s been practicing being pit crew instead. Is he paying off a team to hire him as one for '17? There is lots to look forward to at the upcoming Canadian Grand Pix. The last time Ferrari won here was 2004 – when Max Verstappen was only six years old! Irrespective of which Mercedes driver emerges on top, we that predict Justin Bieber will definitely be on the podium. The repeat mismanagement of the qualifying fiasco has brought Formula 1's power struggles to the fore, say Mithila and Kunal in this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast. While the FIA & FOM seem to have ganged up against the teams, the fans have been neglected yet again. And for a change, the drivers too. Given that the 'three tyre compound' rule seems to be working wonders for the sport, the duo wonder if this was a fluke decision after all. Also, does it make the sport a tad too confusing at times? We tell you why we prefer tyre strategy over fuel strategy. Nico Rosberg's victory in Bahrain was long overdue, but the same can be said about his career as well. Whether the 'five consecutive wins' statistic works for him or not, Rosberg is a true champion and we tell you why. As for Lewis Hamilton, he seems better in finishing races than starting them; will this prompt a rule change by the FIA-FOM to help him back to his winning ways? We discussed the Hamilton-Bottas incident and wonder if the FIA Stewards are missing Pastor Maldonado this season. Fernando Alonso might have missed performing on track in Bahrain, but he did make up for it via a stellar performance on LIVE TV with Johnny Herbert. Clap! Clap! And we wouldn't be surprised if Stoffel Vandoorne reluctantly returned the keys of the Mclaren-Honda back to Alonso for China. Lastly, are Ferrari pushing their development agenda at the cost of reliability? And did you know that three out of Kimi Raikkonen's last four podium finishes came at circuits where there was no alcohol served (on the podium). Tune in! In this week’s episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, Mithila and Kunal tell you how clichéd such ideas are and how F1 could push the limits on social media too. Could fans choose what colour should Lewis Hamilton dye his hair next? Or who Pastor Maldonado should crash into! Taking cue from Christian Horner's statements, Mithila and Kunal speculate on 'what if' Lewis Hamilton had raced for Red Bull Racing from 2012. Would he still be a triple World Champion? What about Sebastian Vettel and of course, Mark Webber? While Horner disclosed that he encouraged Mercedes to sign up Hamilton, we wonder who encouraged Mclaren to partner with Honda. We discuss the influx of new talent in Formula 1 and if people are drunk to be joining Manor F1 Team, and maybe Mclaren too? In this week's episode of the Inside Line F1 Podcast, we initiate a 'Hopeless Happenings' section where we talk about the return of refuelling, louder engine sounds in 2016 and Force India's on-off deal with 'Aston-off Martin'. Not to forget Toto Wolff's insulting (or flattering?) comments on his wife and former F1 driver Suzie and Kevin Magnussen's attempt to woo Renault away from Pastor Maldonado's millions. Tune in! ¿A qué estás esperando...?

¿A qué estás esperando...?
