Parkinson's Disease is the fastest-growing neurological condition in the world. While there is no cure, there is hope for patients to help relive the symptoms of this disease. In this episode, you'll learn:—How constipation can be an early symptom indicating Parkinson's Disease. And the involuntary "pill rolling" motion that is usually the very first sign of Parkinson's.—Why Dr. Prather says getting your Glutathione level up is one of the most important things you can do for preventing Parkinson's Disease and even helping to reverse its damage. And how IV Therapy is the best way to get Glutathione into the body. —Why Dr. Prather "highly, highly" recommends patients seek "very effective" pharmaceutical treatments for Parkinson's Disease in addition to Structure-Function Care that "every Parkinson's patient should have" to help alleviate the symptoms.—How Dr. Prather helps his patients to reduce the side effects of Parkinson's medications, while keeping patients on those important medicines. —The reason Dr. Prather says "Hair Analysis" is "one of the most critical" diagnostics for Parkinson's patients. And how he has found about 10% of his Parkinson's patients have a "false Parkinson's" diagnosis that actually comes from Manganese toxicity.—The "absolutely critical" dietary changes for Parkinson's, including high Fiber and low Protein, which will "almost always" cut a patient's required medication "at least in half".—The "dramatic improvement" Dr. Prather sees when nutritional deficiencies associated with Parkinson's are addressed, including: Folic Acid, Niacin, Thiamine B1, B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, and Vitamin E. And why Dr. Prather recommends Green Tea, Ginkgo Biloba, Velvet Beans, and Fava Beans.—Why the Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic Technique is "the biggest thing for Parkinson's" that results in an immediate change in the neurology and symptoms. Plus, the exercises and neck brace that correct the Forward Head Posture, which then causes "most of the Parkinson's symptoms to go away". —How Dr. Prather uses a particular Acupuncture protocol for Parkinson's patients, including a point on the tip of the nose that he never uses otherwise.—The Auriculotherapy protocol for Parkinson's that works on the brain by stimulating points on the ear.http://www.TheVoiceOfHealthRadio.com

Surprisingly, one of the earliest signs of dementia involves the retina. There is a high correlation between problems in the retina and problems in the brain. Problems with night vision or central vision, floaters, and light sensitivity issues are the earliest signs of dementia. Some people develop amyloid-beta plaquing on the retina and may experience problems differentiating shades of grey and other colors. Researchers have found high levels of microbes, typically found in the mouth, in the brains of Alzheimer's patients. When people die from dementia, it's usually caused by an infection such as a UTI or lung infection. For some people, surgery can be too much on the body and lead to death. Some people with dementia have a slow, progressive degeneration of the brain to the point they're bedridden and stop eating and drinking, which ultimately leads to death. Focus on cleaning your brain and reducing inflammation for dementia prevention. The glymphatic system cleans the brain, mainly at night, which is one of the primary purposes of sleep. This system removes malformed proteins and plaquing and rejuvenates the brain. Anything that inhibits sleeping may increase your risk for Alzheimer's, heart attacks, strokes, cancer, blood sugar issues, and type 2 diabetes. Sleep apnea can also be problematic. You need 8 to 9 hours of sleep! Alcohol significantly interferes with REM sleep and is very damaging to brain health. To prevent Alzheimer's, you must flood the brain with oxygen. Exercise is one of the best ways to do this! Exercise stimulates the growth of brain cells and the hormone BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor). Adequate sun exposure and high amounts of vitamin D can help support healthy sleep. A diet high in sugar and carbohydrates can starve your neurons. Brain cells love ketones! To get into ketosis, you must lower your carbohydrate intake. If you have any early signs of dementia, try taking ketones as a supplement or MCT oil. Niacin may also be helpful. Take 50 mg daily, slowly increasing to 500 mg per day. Amyloid Beta Plaquing Study: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20550... Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral. I have a question about fat pads. Like sacral fat pads and the “buffalo humps” specifically. I have read that diet and exercise hardly makes a difference for these. And liposuction seems to be the only thing that comes up to get rid of them. I understand we all store fat differently, but I'm curious about these specifically. Do you know if loss of body fat gets rid of these? Mine have gotten worse over a few years, and despite losing some weight ( maybe not enough yet) these areas don't seem to change. I'm a pretty petite person, but I do have some excess fat I would like to get rid of. This area troubles me and I feel a little hopeless that they don't change even with weight loss. Thank you! Chelsea: Hi Stephen, thank you for all your helpful information and knowledge. I've recently developed dry crack skin in between my fingers and a lot of bumps on my upper back and shoulders. I can't seem to pop the bumps, it's not like they're pimples. I thought the cracking in between my fingers was potentially a fungus like athletes foot? But I tried yeast infection cream and it didn't seem to help. This might be TMI, but I'm also very itchy in my genitals. However, test results came back negative for yeast infection or STDs. This has all started at the same time. Could it be related to my gut? Is this a histamine response? I recently did a gut and sibo test, I get my results on Thursday. I've had sibo before but I didn't have these symptoms. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks! Kayla: Hi Dr Cabral Thank you for all that you do, your podcasts bring me hope & calmness every time!I am 33 years old, overall good health, hypothyroidism 3.6 TSH, LPa high but all other markers (apo B, triglycerides etc good). I recently got my thermography results “cranial dental/thyroid exam” it shows I still have some inflammation around the sinus, neck, & thyroid resulting in possible nodules, last year I removed 4 cavitations, dead bone (dental surgery) & it seems I may still be infected on my upper left molar, I'm exhausted , I dont think I have the strength for surgery again , every year I do the big 5 labs, and overall my results are always very good since I continually do yearly protocols , I'm not sure what to do anymore, losing hope thyroid, neck inflammation. Kayla: Hi Dr Cabral, Could you speak more of Lipoprotein A (LPa) blood marker, my LPa is 158 & all my other markers are pretty optimal (ldl, hdl, apo b , triglycerides etc) my question is, what now? How do I live with high LPa if lifestyle “doesn't change the marker level” .. It feels like this will creep up on me, I take omega daily but theres talk about Niacin flush , I just need you to speak more of this I trust your insight & I want to know how to live worry free. Kellie: Hi Dr. Cabral! My husband really started focusing on improving his health over the past 5 years - annual physicals, routine dentist, exercise bike 30min/day, nicotine-free, homemade meat & veggie meals, etc. The only Rx the last 5 yrs is for HBP (lisinopril-hctz 20-25). He recently went through a Healthy Heart Screening and found out his Calcium Score is 39. Is that permanent or what can he do to get that back to 0? Greetings everyone! I am excited to bring you episode 2 of this podcast because we now get started talking to guests and in this episode, I sit down with a legend in rock and roll, Billy Sheehan. It helps that I am in the band Mr. Big because I get to hang out with Billy almost every day on the road and finding a time to record this podcast was not too difficult. Billy has done just about everything there is to do in the music business. From his early days back in Buffalo, New York with his band Talas, being in David Lee Roth's first band right after he left Van Halen, to starting Mr Big and having a number 1 hit record. Plus fantastic other bands like The Winery Dogs, Sons Of Apollo, Niacin, and more. He has thousands of gigs under his belt, he has toured the world many times, he's made tons of records, and recorded for tons of artists, he is an educator and a real student of the craft. Nobody plays the bass like Billy Sheehan and he knows what it takes to make a life in music. Cheers

Hello, music lovers! Welcome to Why Music Matters, a podcast where we examine the power and influence that music can wield in our lives. I'm your host, Jeff Miers. Today, we've got a very special guest - legendary progressive and hard rock musician, son of western New York, and virtuoso bassist Billy Sheehan. We know Billy from his groundbreaking work with Talas, David Lee Roth's band, Niacin, Mr. Big, Sons of Apollo, and many more. Currently in the midst of a farewell tour with Mr. Big, which includes a homecoming gig at Electric City in Buffalo on June 6, Billy chatted with me from the road, where he's been enjoying a string of sold-out dates with his bandmates. I started things off by asking Billy if he recalled that fateful night night in December of 1980, when a then-unknown band called U2 opened for Talas at Stage One in Buffalo - on what turned out to be the night that John Lennon was murdered, in New York City. Billy and his Talas bandmates reacted by performing a set of the Beatles tunes they'd grown up revering, as a tribute to Lennon…

Addiction to substances like nicotine, alcohol, and drugs can be incredibly difficult to overcome. These addictions harm our mental and physical health and deplete essential nutrients in the body, particularly NAD. NAD is a crucial coenzyme involved in over 500 different chemical reactions in the body. It plays a vital role in energy production, DNA repair, and maintaining proper cellular functioning. However, addiction to substances like nicotine, alcohol, and drugs can significantly deplete NAD levels in the body. Symptoms of NAD deficiency include fatigue, muscle soreness, weight gain, difficulty sleeping and concentrating, brain fog, and decreased stamina. These symptoms can make it even harder for someone to overcome an addiction. To combat NAD deficiency, consider taking vitamin B3, also known as niacin. Niacin helps increase NAD levels in the body, improving energy, helping to reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings, and aiding in addiction recovery. Some people may experience a flushing response on their skin when taking niacin, which can be uncomfortable. In this case, no-flush niacin can be used instead. In addition to supplementing with niacin, there are other ways to increase NAD levels in the body, such as intermittent fasting, following a healthy ketogenic diet, and regular exercise. These lifestyle changes can support addiction recovery and overall well-being. In some cases, clinics offer IV therapy for NAD to help with addiction recovery. However, this can be expensive and not accessible to everyone. DATA: https://www.jci.org/articles/view/27160

Niacin, which is also called Vitamin B3, is an experiential Nootropic (an experience that you might NOT love!) with a range of Biohacking benefits that make the flush well worth it! This is the immediate release form of this vitamin, not a timed or slow release, I find the skin flush it induces slightly uncomfortable. The trade-off for that passing discomfort is boosting NAD, which has an expansive range of anti-aging benefits - from DNA repair to mental health support.I did use my self-quantification tools while flushed on Niacin. The industry is abuzz with changes, and one of the biggest realignments has happened down in Houston, TX, where Joey Savage (formerly of Glaxon) has started his own consulting firm, Savage Nutra. Joey Savage Launches Savage Nutra Consulting This podcast was recorded at the Arnold Sports Festival in early March 2024. At the time of recording, Joey had already announced his venture into consulting with Savage Nutra, so Mike and Ben dig deeper to see what he really wants to work on in his perfect world. The conversation is as wild and interesting as you'd think it would be, with a lot of discussion on novel probiotics, performance, the perfect stool, and crashing rockets into the firmament where water bears survive thanks to the carbohydrate trehalose. Joey's not interested in making pre-workout after pre-workout, but if you've got an epic idea for him to work on, then he's all ears. Only the most special projects will get the official Savage Nutra collab label, though. Episode Summary: Does Niacin really increase your risk of a heart attack? In this episode, Aimee goes all out breaking apart the recent study on niacin and heart attack risk. She critiques the study's methodology and highlights the misleading conclusions drawn by the authors. She emphasizes the importance of considering the study population, which consisted of individuals with existing cardiovascular disease, and the lack of examination of niacin intake in the participants. Aimee also questions the researchers' failure to address other factors that could contribute to elevated levels of niacin metabolites, such as impaired metabolic function. She concludes that the study's suggestions to eliminate niacin fortification are unwarranted and irresponsible. In this episode, Aimee summarizes the pros and cons of this research so you can decide whether you should be concerned. Key Takeaways:The study suggesting that niacin may increase the risk of heart disease is based on flawed methodology and misleading conclusions.Niacin has long been used and respected as a lipid-lowering agent, and its efficacy is still a topic of debate in comparison to statins. The study population consisted of individuals with existing cardiovascular disease, which is an important factor to consider when interpreting the results. The researchers failed to examine the niacin intake of the participants, making it unclear whether supplemental niacin was a contributing factor.Other factors, such as impaired metabolic function, could lead to elevated levels of niacin metabolites and should have been considered in the study.Notable Quotes:"To point a finger at niacin fortification is irresponsible and unwarranted at this stage." - Aimee"These researchers did not consider the impact that an impaired metabolic system might have on cellular stress and production of these metabolites." - Aimee"This paper is a fantastic example of research authors spinning the data and the media taking it even further to create clickbait." - AimeeResources:Photography by: Dai Ross Photography Podcast Cover Art: Lilly Kate CreativeWork with AimeeFerrell, M., Wang, Z., Anderson, J.T. et al. In this "Reinvent Healthcare" episode, I talk about how niacin can help with Raynaud's disease, a condition affecting circulation to fingers and toes, especially in cold climates. I go into detail about niacin's role as a vasodilator, potentially easing symptoms and improving circulation for Raynaud's clients. Join me and listen in as I highlight Niacin's transformative potential in managing Raynaud's and promoting overall wellbeing.IN THIS EPISODE:Mechanism of Raynaud's and Niacin's Vasodilatory RoleRaynaud's results from abnormal nerve control of blood vessel diameter, leading to abnormal responses to cold and stress. Niacin, a form of vitamin B3, acts as a vasodilator by stimulating the release of prostaglandins, causing capillaries to expand and increasing blood flow to the skin. This vasodilation can potentially alleviate symptoms of Raynaud's by improving circulation to the affected areas.Niacin as a Potential Treatment for Raynaud'sWhile there is limited scientific evidence from double-blind placebo-controlled studies, anecdotal evidence suggests that niacin supplementation may help improve symptoms of Raynaud's. The vasodilatory effects of niacin, coupled with its ability to release histamine, make it a potential candidate for managing Raynaud's symptoms. However, caution is advised regarding dosing, as individual tolerances vary, and very high doses of niacin may lead to side effects such as liver toxicity, gastrointestinal issues, and interactions with medications. Gradual titration and monitoring of symptoms are recommended to find an effective and safe dosage for individuals with Raynaud's disease.Potential Benefits Beyond Lipid ManagementI go over the potential benefits of niacin beyond lipid management, including its potential impact on conditions like Raynaud's syndrome. I have seen clients experiencing potential improvements in Raynaud's symptoms with increased niacin intake, so I suggest trying it out with clients with similar conditions to see what works for them.Niacin Dosage for Raynaud's ReliefI always suggest going low and slow, so start with small amounts of niacin, such as around 50 milligrams, and gradually increase the dosage while monitoring the duration and intensity of the flush reaction. This personalized approach allows individuals to find the optimal dosage for managing Raynaud's symptoms without experiencing discomfort or adverse effects. Additionally, it is good to experiment with niacin supplementation to achieve the desired therapeutic effect while minimizing potential side effects.Important ReInvent Healthcare Links Access Additional Resources for Practitioners ready to improve clinical outcomes through our Nutritional Endocrinology Practitioner Training. In this week's episode of ReInvent Healthcare, I explore the broader spectrum of niacin's impact, from lipids management to mental function to potential breakthroughs in conditions like Reynaud's syndrome. I also make mention of very interesting studies and real-life situations on how niacin flushing has improved the lives of countless people.Make sure to listen to the full episode to find out more. IN THIS EPISODE:Importance of the Flushing Form for Lipid ManagementThe flushing form of niacin, specifically nicotinic acid, is crucial for lipid management, including controlling cholesterol and lipoproteins. The flushing effect is essential for the vasodilation effects that help in controlling lipoproteins. I also emphasize that the non-flushing form does not work effectively for this purpose. That is why it is good to understand the different forms of niacin.Proper Dosing and ToleranceAchieving the therapeutic benefits of niacin requires careful dosing and gradual increases. Starting with a low dose and gradually increasing it while monitoring for flushing effects is crucial and something I always recommend. With that, I suggest starting with a powdered form of niacin and increasing the dose slowly over time. Compliance may be a challenge due to the discomfort associated with the flushing, but I advise my clients to give it some time, see how it goes, and check the results after.Potential Benefits Beyond Lipid ManagementI go over the potential benefits of niacin beyond lipid management, including its role in depression, energy production, and even its potential impact on conditions like Reynaud's syndrome. Today we're going to cover the difference between the two forms of vitamin B3: niacin and niacinamide. Both niacin and niacinamide chemically work similarly but have different benefits. Niacin: • Gives a flushing response • Has lipid benefits • Helps lower cholesterol • Helps lower LDL • Helps increase HDL • Helps decrease inflammation in the arteries • Supports a healthy liver • May help with schizophrenia • May help with drug-induced dyskinesia Niacinamide: • Won't cause a flush • Helps with certain skin conditions (acne, dermatitis, rosacea, and psoriasis) • Helps lower histamines • Helps reduce immune inflammatory factors • Helps decrease flaking skin • Helps reduce sebum • May help reduce inflammation • May help with arthritis • Is used for anti-aging • Is used for hyperpigmentation • May help reduce anger and anxiety Many people are discouraged from taking niacin because of potential side effects. But the dangers are rare and are typically involved in those taking very high doses over long periods and time-release niacin.
