Episode 14. That's Why I Love You with special guest CJ Chilvers, author of The Van Halen Encyclopedia. Yep, Scotzo, Chaz, and Wolfie have delivered a bonus episode that cleans things up by serving up the scraps. This is a track left on the cutting room floor in favor of Josephina. Was that a good decision? Was there more to it? A robust discussion, a "lost" Mitch Malloy take, and CJ's discussion with Mitch about the same, and a world exclusive debut of How Many Say Why. Remember, Van Halen III Redux is the work of Seaside Pod Review, Tom Petty Project, and Ultimate Catalog Clashpodcast host Kevin Brown and producer Scott D. Monroe, our own Scotzo. Listen to their Redux version of VHIII that's lighter, leaner, and in some circles a means to salvaging the disc a producer in a different circumstance might have produced. Ahem. Season 3 of the Regarding...Series - Welcome to the ultimate rediscovery of Van Halen's most controversial album. At the outset, we represent a good spectrum of views: Wolfie is 100% no opinion on the album; Scott leans more positive but is in the middle and has some dislikes; and Chaz is … appreciative as a student of Edward Van Halen, and empathetic to his artistic cause, but not a big fan of the final output overall. To put it mildly. How Many Say Why is all they could be heard muttering to themselves, in a sea-shanty sort of sway. How Many Say Why? How Many Say Why? Proudly sponsored by podcastle.ai and fourstringmedia, not by Romney's Everest Kendal Mints or Buffalo Chicken Wings in general.
Great Zeppelin 2, Led vs. ZZ Top, Van Halen rumors.

(18:25) The boys analyze Mitch Malloy's track with Van Halen (previous to Gary Cherone getting the gig). We also take a listen at Mitch when he sang for Great White and compare him to original singer Jack Russell. (31:50) Todd's car stereo was a thing of beauty. (32:53) We talk Pirate Radio as well as the band Bicycle Face, and some chat about Alex Van Halen's new book. (37:20) Costco is in full Christmas mode and studio/gaming chairs. (44:35) Thanks to @InObscuria podcast, we know about the band The Damn Truth. This week, I am joined by two guest curators, Eric Senich, of the Van Halen News Desk as well as host of the Booked On Rock Podcast as well as Patreon Mixtaper Cactus Pete, and we're crafting a (ahem) “mammoth” sized mixtape for the mighty Van Halen. And we're talking all eras, all singers, all lineups. Will there be an (I really can't help myself) “balance” between the David Lee Roth & Sammy Hagar eras? How many Gary Cherone era songs from Van Halen 3 will make the cut? Will there be any Mitch Malloy fronted tracks included? Without spoilers, I can at least guarantee that *all* of those topics will be discussed…in some facet! Be sure to visit MyWeeklyMixtape.com to hear all of the songs we discussed in this episode. Paul Cimins interviews Mitch Malloy, an American singer, best known as the former lead vocalist for the rock band Great White from 2018 to 2022. Malloy studied music at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington. He got his first break when he was signed to RCA. Malloy's self-titled first album featured session musicians such as Mickey Curry, Hugh McDonald and Michael Thompson.[1] His first single as a solo artist on RCA records, "Anything At All", was a top 20 rock charting hit and a pop hit in the US.[5] His third single, "Our Love Will Never Die", earned him an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.[1] His second album, Ceilings And Walls, featured guest musicians such as Bernie Leadon, Mike Rutherford and Paul Carrack.[6] He auditioned to be the singer of hard rock band Van Halen after Sammy Hagar's departure.[7][8][9] Malloy recorded various demos with the band, and Eddie Van Halen gave Malloy an instrumental demo to use for his own endeavors. This song was released by Malloy in 2015 as "It's the Right Time".[10]The riff reemerged in the sessions leading up to Van Halen's 1998 studio album Van Halen III in the song "That's Why I Love You." The song was scrapped from the record in favor of "Josephina."[11] Malloy has had a lengthy career featuring in various bands as lead singer, releasing solo albums, and making guest appearances as well. His latest album marks his first time completing an entire release all on his own.[12] Visit his website to learn more about him. www.mitchmalloy.com

Episode # 206 Rocker Mitch Malloy releases New Solo Album "The Last Song," his time in Van Halen and much more! MITCH MALLOY RETURNS WITH NEW SOLO ALBUM, ‘THE LAST SONG' FROM SING MARKET Mitch Malloy continues to rock the night away burning the midnight oil! After several years as the frontman for the iconic rock band Great White, Mitch returned to the studio writing and recording his new album, ‘THE LAST SONG.' The album will launch with an exclusive, limited release collector's edition vinyl through a partnership with SING. Pre-sales for the vinyl release will go on sale May 3, 2023. An international release will follow in June. Once again, Mitch is undertaking an album solely by himself from start to finish – song writing, producing, instruments, mixing and mastering. Mitch reveals, “For this record, I have really taken my time. In the past, I've usually been on deadlines. With this album, there was so much material in my head from a few years of not having a true creative outlet, so it was a lot to process. I'm thankful that I have been in a position to not rush my creativity. I've been tucked away in my Zen zone writing and recording... and amassing lots of new gear! Ha!” ‘THE LAST SONG' DELUXE PACKAGE will be released worldwide first on SING Market as a limited edition collectible 180 gram signed and numbered white vinyl record. This special vinyl bundle includes a signed CD, large poster, 8" X 10" photo, and more. All of this is attached to a limited, numbered and registered digital collectable bundle packed with behind-the-scenes videos, acoustic videos, a rare handwritten lyric sheet, and a Golden Ticket contest to win a private zoom concert where you hang with Mitch! After this very limited vinyl - digital collectable VIP bundle is gone - it's gone! Follow this link to purchase: https://market.singidea.com/market/asset/2abdeae1-ddbf-4d97-bd7a-8d345422ec0a/ Unboxing video here: https://vimeo.com/823080034?share=copy/ In addition to being an artist, Mitch is no stranger to the studio, and has worked with a variety of artists, labels, and brands from Taylor Swift, Boys Like Girls, Kenny Loggins, Craig Morgan, and Sony Music NY, to singer/songwriters Victoria Show, Gary Burr and Billy Falcon, and even voiceover work for Outdoor Channel, Field & Stream and many more. Mitch has even been the voice for Starburst candy! Mitch is also an award-winning songwriter, and has written with legendary songwriters like Jim Weatherly, Richard Lee, Mike Reid, Desmond Child, Dennis Morgan, Victoria Shaw and Gray Burr. He's been signed to publishing deals with Warner Chappell and Chrysalis Music, but later launched his own publishing company to control his copyrights. Mitch loves the craft of songwriting... telling a story and resonating with his audience. "Songs are so powerful... it's amazing just how much a song can impact a person's life," says Malloy. “Once again, life has delivered a lot of new material... from losing family members, to moving to the beach, to having a teenager. There's definitely no shortage of inspiration!” Mitch's tenure as an artist has spanned several decades beginning as a regular on the New York music scene in the 80s. Mitch soon garnered a major recording deal with RCA/BMG Worldwide, and achieved success on the pop and rock charts, landed a coveted spot on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and has toured globally. Mitch's voice has been highly sought after as a frontman for legendary acts as well as a guest vocalist on other artists' projects. In the mid-90s, Mitch was asked to replace Sammy Hagar as lead singer for Van Halen. But after spending time and recording with the band he declined. “When the band appeared on the MTV Music Awards with Dave [David Lee Roth], the fans expected his return – I expected his return. I felt as cool as the opportunity was, it just wasn't the right time,” said Malloy. Lastly, if you miss out on the SING Market bundles, ‘THE LAST SONG' CD (alone) will be available in the US on Malloy's label, Godsend Records, and internationally by Cargo Records based in the UK. Mitch looks forward to getting back out on the road and connecting with his fans in person. So, will this be the last song? According to Mitch, “Give it a listen, and you tell me!” “My hope with ‘The Last Song' record is that when listening you will experience some of the experiences and feelings and emotions I had while making it. If that happens then the world is a better place through music. And as always, I gave it everything I had. Crank it and enjoy!” https://www.youtube.com/@mitchmalloy3468/ https://www.facebook.com/MitchMalloyMusic/ https://www.mitchmalloy.com/ https://twitter.com/mitchmalloy/ https://www.instagram.com/malloymitch/ singmarket.com/ Subscribe to Pat's Soundbytes Unplugged Podcast, Pat's Soundbytes IGTV and Pat's Soundbytes Unplugged - Podcast Radio Show on YouTube for all the interviews and incredible content. In this long, information-packed episode, Ethan and our guest Mitch Malloy of Wild Blue Studiosgo through most of the history of art from millions of years ago back before Homo sapiens was a thing up into the very early 20th century. We very briefly cover the Soviet Union and the birth of socialist realism as well as talk about the CIA spreading certain art forms! The document with the images and artwork referenced is on the episode page on prolespod.com/episodes. Also the audio is slightly garbled at a few points in the first several minutes, but it gets better! Sorry about that. There will be a second episode dedicated to twentieth century art movements, so wait up for that! Sound Matters episode #075 features Tom's conversation with Mark Kendall from the multiplatinum band, Great White. Mark’s passion and natural abilities got him hooked on guitar at a young age. Mark is a solid supporter of MusiCares, and like me big-time recovery advocate. Mark's relentless efforts to help those seeking a sober life have been expressed in feature stories on Fox News and numerous national radio programs and podcasts. With his rock pedigree, and double digit years of sobriety, I knew Mark and I had to talk at length about two of my favorite subjects (and his I suspect): rock and roll and recovery.
