WHO KNEW BAGELS COULD CREATE SUCH A KERFUFFLE This past week I found out there was a little deli in Parker that was shipping in bagels made in New York for sale. No, I don’t eat many bagels, but living in Douglas County I can tell you it’s a real bagel wasteland. There are bagels to be found, but none of them compare to a real New York bagel. So when I saw online that I could get a real New York bagel at The Grecian Grazer, I headed over to check things out. Indeed, they have REAL bagels! In the course of chatting with Sean, the owner, we were discussing how a competing bagel shop seemed to respond, by sending people in to make crazy claims and write bad reviews online. I hate stuff like this. That’s why Sean is joining me today to chat about the cutthroat world of bagels at 2:30. If you’re in Parker, go get a sandwich or a bagel from Sean, he’s a great guy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This weeks sponsor: Crann From Probio Carbon https://www.probiocarbon.ieSlugs and snails can turn a thriving spring garden into a patchwork of chewed seedlings almost overnight, especially when a mild, wet spell meets rising temperatures. We talk through how we handle that pressure in a way that protects young plants now and reduces damage over time, without pretending there's a magic switch that makes slugs disappear forever. We start with the long game: building a garden that recruits natural predators. From song thrushes and starlings to hedgehogs, frogs and ground beetles, we explain the habitats and garden choices that make a real difference, including why no dig gardening can support the beneficial insects that disrupt the slug life cycle. If you want organic gardening methods that work with nature rather than against it, this is the foundation. Then we get practical about slug control and snail control when you need results fast. We compare ferric phosphate organic slug pellets, beer traps (including how much area one trap covers and how often you need to empty it), and barrier methods like copper tape, sheep's wool pellets, dried seaweed and oyster shells. We also touch on Grazer's G2 as a deterrent spray, plus what's going on with slug nematodes and why they can be difficult to get at times. We also share a quick note on Bloom, including our talk times and where to meet us for a hello. This week on Two Parents & A Podcast, we're talking about the lost art of the "doorbell friend" (we just learned we have these and it makes us feel like we're in a sitcom LOL). Which spirals into a whole convo about how in-person social interaction has plummeted and what can be done to bring back the 90s childhood mindset. Then we get into Memorial Day block party planning (watermelon seed spitting contest, three-legged race, & getting Kennedy Urich's boyfriend Bobby to do a concert?!), and the fact that we have OFFICIALLY broken ground on the pool (after a whole pipe-moving saga that was NOT in the budget lol). In other neighborhood news, Alex is officially starting a book club!!! We get into the best books Alex has read lately (Mean Moms, Strangers, and the book book club is starting with: Yesteryear). Plus, fan-casting the Stranger TV adaptation (Nicole Kidman + Ryan Phillippe?!). Then we get into Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey ending up on the SAME flight to Hawaii (what are the chances?!), date night midweek vs. Saturday night (spoiler alert: Thursday wins), and the great event eating debate (should you eat before attending an event with dinner?!) Then it's Rocky's 1 month update (he's a GRAZER, his wake windows are lengthening, and Alex got cleared to work out!), and BICKER OF THE WEEK on whether you should be an out-and-backer or a looper on your neighborhood walks (Alex has her reasons!!!). Plus, TWEET OF THE WEEK on the fact that 9 out of 10 women physicians are eldest daughters (Dr. Tate?!), and TWO THINGS WE DMED EACH OTHER: that viral video of the granddaughter teaching her 102 + 89 year old grandparents how to use DoorDash (heartwarming!!!) and the guy outsourcing his night nurse to the Philippines (seems completely unnecessary??). And finally, our favorite baby products from the first month (RIP the wipe warmer for Rocky, the SNOO and Doona stay undefeated)! LOVE YOU GUYS! Dr. Al Grauer hosts. Dr. Albert D. Grauer ( @Nmcanopus ) is an observational asteroid hunting astronomer. Dr. Grauer retired from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 2006. travelersinthenight.org From November & December 2025. Today's 2 topics: - On a busy night of asteroid hunting with the 90 inch, University of Arizona's Steward Observatory Bok telescope on Kitt Peak in Arizona, my Catalina Sky Survey teammate Vivian Carvajal discovered 13 new Earth approaching objects. One of them now known as 2025 TF immediately got her attention as it streaked through the constellation of Pegasus. Another space rock 2020 VT4 came about 30 miles closer to the surface of our home planet giving 2025 TF second place as a grazing non impactor. - My Catalina Sky Survey teammate Vivian Carvajal was asteroid hunting in the constellation of Eridanus with the 90 inch, University of Arizona's Bok telescope on Kitt Peak when she was treated to an amazing sight. Comet COMET 240P/NEAT with a small version of itself cruising along beside it.It is virtually impossible to predict if Vivian's fragment 240P-B will survive to make another approach to the Sun in 2033 or so.

The entertainment industry has had to pivot and refresh time and again to adapt to constant changes in format, business models and attention spans. Somehow, producer Brian Grazer has been able to keep up. The storyteller, who has received multiple nominations and wins at the Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globes, manages to find what people connect with and turn it into a hit – and he does this over and over. In this talk from the 2024 Aspen Ideas Festival, Grazer and the entertainment leader and former Disney CEO Michael Eisner discuss what makes something work and how to go from an idea to winning content. Grazer shares the sometimes unconventional rules and guidelines that have served him well over the past 40 years while making classics like “Apollo 13” and “A Beautiful Mind.” aspenideas.org

Graham travels to Brian Grazer's 12,000 square foot Los Angeles home. The Academy Award-winning producer recalls some of his most enthralling run-ins with celebrities and public figures including a “date with Princess Diana.” The 2020 sit-down also features Grazer describing what it takes to create the longest running partnership in Hollywood with director and friend Ron Howard.
Donny Is joined by legendary TV and film producer, Brian Grazer. Grazer, who founded Imagine Entertainment in 1986 with Ron Howard, sits down for an in-depth discussion about the values his grandmother taught him, how learning about others and what makes them tick is important, and how certain characters stay with us years after their movies were made.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Brian Grazer is a Hollywood producer whose films and television shows have been nominated for 43 Academy Awards and 217 Emmys and grossed $15 billion worldwide. He's produced everything from my favorite TV show of all time, Friday Night Lights, to critically-acclaimed and Oscar-winning films like Apollo 13 and A Beautiful Mind.Grazer credits much of his success to his commitment to a practice he calls "curiosity conversations." Today on the show, I talk to Grazer, who's also the co-author of A Curious Mind Expanded Edition: The Secret to a Bigger Life, about why he considers curiosity conversations the “superpower” that fueled his rise as one of Hollywood's leading producers. We talk about how these curiosity conversations are beneficial to have with everyone from VIPs to ordinary folks, how the ideas and connections they foster can enhance both your personal and professional life, what makes a curiosity conversation effective, and how to make them happen.
Authenticity is exceedingly rare. Yet Brian Grazer embodies it with an unparalleled zest and refreshing innocence. Though Grazer might not be a household name, his tv shows and movies (like "A Beautiful Mind" and “Apollo 13”) have earned him 242 Emmy nominations and 47 Oscar nominations. He believes in the power of asking endless amounts of questions to shape stories that resonate on a deeply human level. Grazer is an unparalleled storyteller and offers a unique perspective on how to engage, question, and understand the world around us. This is…A Bit of Optimism. Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellenger & SI's Pat Forde react to all of the major games that took place this weekend in college football as quite a handful of ranked teams suffered a loss on Saturday. The Washington Huskies took home a win in a game-of-the-year candidate against the Oregon Ducks. With all of the high-powered offensive fireworks, along with the in-conference rivalry, there was a lot to break down from the matchup. Dan Lanning's decision-making on 4th downs confused the guys as his system has not worked well enough in close games against good opponents and a key turnover on downs gave the Washington offense a short field in the eventual game-winning drive.Marcus Freeman's system worked against USC as the Fighting Irish took down the Trojans 48-20. USC was a mess in this game and Notre Dame took advantage of it by consistently turning over Caleb Williams and executing on special teams. The cream is starting to rise a bit in the SEC as Tennessee staved off Texas A&M, Alabama beat Arkansas, & Missouri took down Kentucky. The Colorado Buffaloes had a tough one on Friday night as they lost to Stanford after leading by as much as 29 points in the game. The guys determine that this is a loss where things could falls apart for the Buffs and that Coach Deion Sanders needs to get past this as soon as possible or Colorado could miss bowl season. The Iowa Hawkeyes went on the road and beat Wisconsin with punting, defense and 2 catches from wide receivers. Kirk Ferentz is simultaneously on the hottest and coldest seats in college football thanks to his 6-1 record, yet having an offense so bad that it could squander a championship-caliber defense. To the guys' dismay, Grazer won Fat Bear Week with a record setting performance over runner-up Chunk. To close out the podcast, the guys give out their Small Sample Heisman candidates & play a round of Say Something Nice.1:00 - Washington takes down Oregon 36-3321:10 - Notre Dame stomps USC 48-2029:25 - Around the SEC: Tennessee beats Texas A&M, Alabama holds off Arkansas39:41 - Colorado blows a 29-point lead at home against Stanford45:32 - Iowa Hawkeyes are rolling, defeat Wisconsin51:07 - Fat Bear Week Championship51:38 - Small Sample Heisman54:38 - Say Something NiceFollow Dan @DanWetzelFollow Pat @ByPatFordeFollow Ross @RossDellenger

Dan Wetzel, Ross Dellenger & SI's Pat Forde kick off the podcast breaking down Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops's attempt to get more money in his program through NIL donations. On his radio show after a tough loss to Georgia, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops explains that Georgia has been able to buy more talented players due to their reservoir of NIL money. Stoops then attempts to urge Kentucky football fans to help out the program by donating to lure more talent onto the team. Is this a strategy more programs should employ, or is the request a bit tone deaf coming from a coach who is making $8 million a year?Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is looking to secure a new contract after taking a pay reduction in 2020. The guys debate whether or not Harbaugh should get the market value top coach contract.#8 ranked Oregon and #7 ranked Washington headline this weekend's slate of games. Both teams are equipped with high-powered offenses and such an exciting match up will make fans yearn for more Pac-12 football after this year.More clarity has been provided following the Miami Hurricanes' game-losing gaffe against Georgia Tech. Despite the scrutiny and madness centered around him, head coach Mario Cristobal took accountability and was also able to use the situation swing a recruit from Georgia to commit to Miami.Ross spent Saturday with SEC commissioner Greg Sankey and details his takeaways afterwards. The guys reflect on Sankey's reign as the SEC commissioner as well as what could be coming next for college athletics. To close out the podcast, it's theFat Bear Week finals and the crew has decided to rally behind Chunk instead of the fraudulent Grazer.
