Week 4 gave us plenty to unpack. College Football Week 4 gave us the kind of Saturday that starts changing how the season looks. We start with Florida’s emphatic win over Ole Miss and what it means for a Gators team that suddenly has to be taken seriously in the SEC race. Then we turn to Oregon’s wild road win at USC, where an early injury changed the entire shape of the game and forced the Ducks to find a very different way to win. Iowa stunned Michigan at the gun, Texas stymied Tennessee in Knoxville, and several teams that entered the weekend with real expectations now have much harder questions to answer. Kyle Ellison is a former Kentucky Corrections officer. In 1972 Kyle Ellison became a Kentucky Department of Corrections probation and parole officer in Louisville. He worked for the Department of Corrections for 16 years. Seven of those years were as a training officer for prison and jail staff all over the state, giving him the chance to research the prison history of Kentucky. Kyle Ellison is now a strong advocate for prison reform.

Longtime listeners of the program know that The Wolf and Action Jackson are big time Iron Maiden fans. We gave you a review of The Future Past Tour from Europe in 2023 (Ep #139) and from Stockholm last summer as they kicked off the Run For Your Lives Tour (Ep #239). So you might ask why would we travel at great expense and sit through a deluge that would cause Noah to get his woodworking tools out to see the same band on the same tour. But if you have to ask that, you've never seen an Iron Maiden concert and certainly not on this tour. The whole band is in fine form with Bruce Dickinson's soaring vocals and active stage antics set the tone for an epic and powerful show. The setlist is incredible, focusing only on the first album through Somewhere in Time (with Fear of the Dark from 92) and the video screens help the songs come to live with killer visuals and lifelike animation. No passports required means we're going to be there! Another benefit of seeing Maiden this year is that Megadeth is opening for them on what has been announced as their last tour. To see Dave Mustaine live before he hangs it up should be a goal of metalheads everywhere and a big bonus for we Maiden heads. And as a bonus, The Wolf was able to attend Louder Than Life - the four day hard rock/heavy metal festival in Louisville that has multiple stages and non-stop action thanks to 2 main stage side by side. It was the first time Maiden had performed in Louisville in 43 years so your host persevered against the 90+ degree heat and enormous crowds to see Maiden one more time in 2026. Just in time for the Week Without Driving (Oct. 1-8), we bring you a vital conversation about the people's demand for improved transit in Louisville. Simply put, Louisville Metro Council does not prioritize public transportation. The current funding model for the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) was implemented in 1974 and has not changed since. As it is currently funded, TARC is unable to meet the public transit needs of all Louisville Metro residents. In spring 2024, this situation became even more dire. TARC reached its breaking point, announcing a $30-million-dollar budget shortfall which forced them to make drastic service cuts. Around the same time, TARC launched the long-awaited TARC 2025 system re-design, introducing three plan options, one of which would increase service and grow ridership, currently known as the “growth” option. In order to ensure the best outcome of the TARC 2025 system re-design—a public transit system that serves the needs of all Louisville Metro residents—Louisville Metro Council must act and properly fund the most robust option of TARC 2025. TARC is doing their job, Louisville Metro Council needs to do theirs. The GOTB Campaign demands that the TARC Board and Louisville Metro Council work together in accordance with the 1974 resolution to put a referendum on the ballot to increase the occupational tax from 0.2% to 0.6% (from $2 to $6 per $1000 earned) to fully fund the TARC 2025 Growth option, as well as paratransit.
