Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesIt's been a bit quiet on the DCU front other than the Supergirl trailers, but we finally got a first look at Lanterns, the series starring Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as Green Lantern characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart, respectively. Hoppers topped the weekend box office with a domestic haul of $46 million and $88 million globally, the biggest launch for an original animated film since the studio's Coco was released in 2017. Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride! bombed with a third-place domestic debut of $7.3 million. Overseas was just as weak for the new take on Frankenstein and his spouse as it limped to $6.3 million for a worldwide launch of $13 million against a net budget of $80 million before marketing.Prime Video has released the first teaser trailer for the fifth and final season of The Boys where we see Homelander on a quest for immortality using a new version of the Compound-V serum. The trailer also confirmed some Gen V character crossover and takes a turn at the end with Homelander sitting in the Oval Office.Director Lee Isaac Chung has exited Warner Bros.‘ planned feature prequel for its Ocean's Eleven property. Chung had been developing the movie with the studio and Margot Robbie, who is attached to star with Bradley Cooper and produce through her LuckyChap banner. A representative for Warner Bros. confirms that Chung left amicably amid “creative differences.”John Leguizamo has joined the cast of Mike Flanagan's untitled The Exorcist feature, joining Scarlett Johansson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane.Disney has entered the early stages of development on Tink, a live action series based on Tinkerbell. Liz Heldens and Bridget Carpenter are teaming up to write the project.Jamie Lee Curtis, who has a recurring guest role on Hulu's The Bear, has confirmed that the upcoming fifth season which is currently in production will be the final season of the show.Two-time Emmy winner Jeff Daniels has joined the cast of the fifth season of AppleTV's news drama The Morning Show.Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning for King Conan, a new Conan the Barbarian movie in development at 20th Century Studios that has the Mission: Impossible franchise's Christopher McQuarrie attached to write and direct.During a recent Reddit AMA, filmmaker Carlos López Estrada confirmed that Disney was not moving forward with his planned live action adaptation of Robin Hood, a planned adaptation of the 1970 animated filmDuring a Nintendo Direct presentation, Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri announced a handful of voice cast members for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy Movie including Luis Guzman as Wart, Issa Rae as Honey Queen, and Donald Glover as Yoshi.Over the past two weeks, Firefly fans have been speculating as Nathan Fillion has taken to social media to post videos of himself visiting the cast of the cult favorite show. He has visited 6 members of his former firefly crew and said in effect, “It's time”. An announcement will apparently be made March 15th.
This week on Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes revisit "Arachnophobia", the horror comedy that proves sometimes the scariest monsters are the smallest ones.Mike Butler and Mike Field really enjoy this one; with Butler describing it best as spider "Jaws". The film builds tension around an invasion of deadly spiders while following Jeff Daniels as a small-town doctor who must stop them despite being deeply afraid of spiders himself. Daniels brings a relatable everyman quality to the role that helps ground the story, while John Goodman steals plenty of scenes as the eccentric exterminator brought in to deal with the growing infestation. The movie is also a showcase for great character actors. Instead of relying on huge personalities or scene stealing performances, the film fills its world with memorable supporting characters who feel like real people and deliver plenty of great lines along the way.Balancing laughs and thrills without becoming overly bombastic, "Arachnophobia" keeps things relatively grounded while still delivering plenty of creepy moments. It is a smart, fun creature feature that proves you do not need giant monsters to make an audience squirm. What your favorite films in this genre? Let us know in the comments!

Aspiring screenwriter Max Frye wrote a spec script in film school about a straitlaced yuppie's "best worst night ever," which his agent later told him would be perfect for either Martin Scorsese or Jonathan Demme to direct. Since Scorsese was busy on another "yuppie's best worst night ever" movie, After Hours, Demme ended up getting the nod. Demme cast Jeff Daniels as the yuppie Charlie Driggs, with Melanie Griffith as the proto-Manic Pixie Dream Girl Lulu, who sweeps him up for a weekend that starts with sex and ends in terror at the hands of her jealous ex, played by Ray Liotta. This sex-comedy/thriller mashup boasts a fantastic soundtrack and character actor cameos galore, but is the fun worth the hangover? Join us as we get outside our comfort zones with Something Wild! The Automotive Troublemaker w/ Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier
Shoot us a Text.Episode #1249: We dig into why affordability—not EV tech—is the real sales bottleneck heading into 2026, how agentic shopping is reshaping the idea of ‘merit' across retail, and why Jeff Daniels' new stage play about a struggling dealership is hitting close to home for the auto industry. In a wide-ranging interview with Automotive News, Chevrolet dealer council leader Andy Guelcher explains why affordability—not EV tech—is the industry's biggest hurdle heading into 2026, and how pricing discipline, incentives, and used EVs will ultimately determine sales momentum.Guelcher warns that $1,000-plus monthly payments are unsustainable and, if not addressed, will put real pressure on future vehicle sales.Lower inventory levels have helped dealers protect gross, but affordability now requires more creativity in financing, leasing, and lender mix. From a Chevy standpoint, Guelcher says disciplined inventory management and a renewed focus on lower-MSRP models position the brand well if affordability improves.Hollywood meets the showroom as actor Jeff Daniels brings car dealer drama to the stage. A new play written by a former Automotive News editor puts a struggling dealership — and the people who love the business — front and center, minus the tired stereotypes. The Classic King follows four salespeople racing to save a dealership after losing its new-car franchise, which was inspired by real dealership closures during the Great RecessionThe play is written by former Automotive News editor Richard Johnson and directed by Jeff Daniels at Michigan's Purple Rose Theatre.Daniels praised the script, saying, “There's a lot of heart in it and a lot of humor… it speaks to people who don't just have a job — they love what they do.”AI is officially coming for the shopping cart. Shopify president Harley Finkelstein says “agentic commerce” could fundamentally change how consumers discover and buy products—shifting power away from ads and toward relevance, fit, and meritShopify is betting big on agentic commerce, citing a 14x increase in orders driven by AI agents in just the past year.Google's new Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP), backed by Shopify, Walmart, and others, aims to standardize how AI agents shop across brands.Rather than replacing e-commerce sites, agentic shopping is expected to act as a powerful new “spoke,” potentially accelerating overall e-commerce adoption. This episode of the Automotive State of the Union is brought to you by Amazon Autos: Meet customers where they shop: reach high-intJoin Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier every morning for the Automotive State of the Union podcast as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/
