Ready to better align your business growth with personal growth in the new year?  Scaling in 2025 looks different than prior years.  It is a new era and requires a new approach. That's where Kim Woods comes in!  Kim and I teamed up recently in Colorado to deliver a keynote that blends her unique astrology-driven strategies and "knowing, liking, and trusting" yourself with my “simplify, sustain, scale” model. Kim Woods is a master astrologer and business strategist and she is all about combining astrology with modern business strategies. Kim explains how astrology has influenced important tools like Carl Jung's work and the Myers-Briggs personality test. She also shares details about her popular 12-question quiz, which has been taken by 22,000 people to help understand different decision-making styles. Kim's method blends masculine and feminine energies, making her strategies pragmatic for today's fast-changing business world. She highlights the power of self-awareness and building real connections, rather than relying on automated systems, to achieve business success. We also discuss how our approaches, "know, like, trust" and "simplify, sustain, scale," are coming together in a new live event focused on making big business moves. "It's crucial to balance innovative ideas with practical implementation. That's where true growth happens." -         Kim Woods   Tune in to this week's episode of the Lean Out Your Business Podcast - our 200th episode! - where Kim and I merge insightful ideas and practical steps to help businesses thrive and scale in the new era including: How "know, like, trust" helps you to "simplify, sustain, scale" Balancing structure with flexibility in business planning Impact of astrological insights on effective business moves Practical steps for staying adaptable in 2025 What it looks like to successfully scale in the new era   Ready to simplify and streamline how you scale your business?   We are now accepting Visionary CEOs and their right-hand Ops Leads into our signature Simplify to Scale mentorship program. What is the underlying meaning of peak performance? How would you characterize it? Does it intersect with our well-being? Why is comprehending and applying this concept valuable? Additionally, how can one cultivate a mindset geared toward achieving peak performance? Peak performance isn't solely about our strength, determination, perseverance, and resilience. It also encompasses our well-being. This notion is particularly relevant for business owners who often become ensnared in a culture that emphasizes relentless hustle and attaining success at any cost. In the process, they might overlook their own happiness, personal fulfillment, and optimal functioning. In this episode of the Lean Out Your Business Podcast, I had a valuable conversation with Sacred Walker where she shares the concept and importance of peak performance practice. Sacred Walker is the founder of Self-Love for Superheroes, which is a mental health and peak performance practice. She transforms lives as a mental health therapist, interfaith minister, and an Ivy League master speaker. She is the host of a talk show called Self-Love Letters for Everyday Superheroes, and she specializes in what she calls Love Medicine coaching, which is a proprietary method of holistic coaching that supports visionaries and executives in high stress work environments. “Let's make sure that our mind, body, spirit are sustained so that our true peak performance can support our vision for the long haul. Because we're here to build a legacy, not burn out in the process. “ – Sacred Walker In this episode we explore: Vices and things that keep people away from achieving peak performance Emotion-based stress that is affecting our performance Creating focused intention and guidance through journaling The incredible transformation that people received when working with Sacred Walker How to work smarter not harder and keep things lean in the business Learn and connect with Sacred Walker: ·        Visit Sacred Walker's Website ·        Follow Sacred Walker's Linkedin ·        Follow Sacred Walker's Instagram ·        Follow Sacred Walker's Facebook ·        Listen to Sacred Walker's Podcast ·        Watch Sacred Walker's Youtube   Ready to simplify and streamline how you scale your business? Crista Grasso is the go-to strategic planning and systems expert for online businesses when they want to scale. Known as the "Business Optimizer", Crista can quickly cut through the noise and provide clarity on the core things that will make the biggest impact to scale a business simply and sustainably. She is the founder of the Lean Out Method, creator of the Lean Business Scaling System, and host of the Lean Out Your Business Podcast. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Crista Grasso discuss:What does lean mean? Eliminating waste to provide value Should you send an email or go for a phone call? The Cut, Hold, Keep, Change system  Key Takeaways:Having a lean mindset in business is all about maximizing value while minimizing waste. The lean concept can be applied in every kind of business, not only manufacturing ones. Eliminating waste from your business process should lead to maximizing the value given to the customer. Think of any unnecessary complexity, or any inefficient system and cut it down while having the best interest of the customer front and center in your mind. Email or phone call? It depends on your business. If you're going for high volume, use email but if the service you provide is a more boutique, high-level experience, and you want a more personal touch, then go for a phone call. Before you commit to doing anything new in your business, take a look at your whole process and organize it into cut, hold, change, and keep. Keep must contain what's working while Change should have the processes that have value but might need some changes. Cut must contain the things that don't make sense and hold should contain those that you're not that sure of.   "I'm going to make lean super simple. It's about maximizing value while minimizing waste. There is a ton of waste in what we do from unnecessary complexity to underutilized resources. The more we can minimize that, the more we could provide value to our clients." — Crista Grasso See Dean's TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I  Connect with Crista Grasso:  Website: https://www.leanoutmethod.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cristagrasso/Instagram: http://instagram.com/cristagrassoFacebook: http://facebook.com/groups/leanoutcircle  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. With a seemingly never ending list of things to do, how do you prioritize what's most important when everything seems important? It might not seem simple now but by implementing certain techniques in specific stages of business you can learn to clearly identify what is important and needs your attention now, what is important but should be delegated to someone else and what isn't important and shouldn't be done by anyone.  When you get clear on your vision, your goals, your capacity and your commitments you can begin to evaluate all  tasks using the PPV (profit, passion, value) Matrix. The PPV Matrix will help you plan out all of your macro events and activities on a yearly or quarterly basis. Once you know where you're going  in broad strokes you can begin to employ the Eisenhower Matrix to help you organize your months, weeks and days.  In Episode 73 of The Lean Out Your Business Podcast, Crista Grasso shows you exactly how to implement both the PPV Matrix and the Eisenhower Matrix so that you can avoid overwork and increase your productivity and profitability.  Show topics include: 2:20 what leads to overwork and overwhelm 3:08 how to invest your time and energy into the things that matter most 4:00 getting clear on your vision before you plan anything else 4:08 the 4 core inputs to helping your make good priority decisions 4:24 the #1 thing you should be prioritizing 5:30 the area you have the most amount of flex space in  6:17 two techniques you can implement to always know you are working on the most important things 7:39 what is the PPV Matrix and why we refer to it as the million dollar idea evaluation  8:24 techniques to help you prioritize on a micro level 8:58 what is impact vs. effort and how to use that to weed out unimportant activities 9:58 what is the cost of delay 13:55 introducing the Eisenhower Matrix 15:50 examples of important and urgent work - things that you most likely need to do as the CEO of the business 17:23 what to do with not important and not urgent work 18:15 examples of not important but urgent work - things that someone else on your team can do 21:00 one thing everyone can immediately delete from their schedules 22:49 key reason most people get frustrated when planning Quotes from Episode 73 of The Lean Out Your Business Podcast: “If you're going to be doing something, you want to make sure that it's the right thing because there is nothing more frustrating than pouring a whole lot of time or a whole lot of money into something that isn't actually the most important thing to be working on, which you realize afterwards when you don't get the results from it.” [3:08] Crista Grasso “Cool. You have a million things that you want to do but how much can you realistically get done in whatever the time period is, whether you're looking at your day, your week, your month, your quarter, your year? What is your capacity and what's realistic, how much space do you have to actually say yes to things?” [4:44] Crista Grasso “If you have things in your business that you can do that are a combination of high impact and low effort, you do those all day long.” [9:22] Crista Grasso “It's a way of looking at your activities and your work and the things that you need to do, and looking at what's important versus what's urgent, to decide not only what should be done at all but what should be done by you.”

The idea of meditating can sometimes feel overwhelming. How do you stop that hamster wheel in your mind long enough to slow down, to stop your thoughts and to focus on your breath? And even if you could force yourself to slow down, who has time for that? If you've ever thought something similar you aren't alone. You've most likely heard or read that meditation is something you “should” do, but with little guidance it's likely that you tried once or twice and then gave up before you could clearly see a benefit.  You may have heard that meditation is good for you but  do you know why? Did you know it can actually help you become a better leader, a better listener and even a better executor of your own daily tasks. Did you know that mediation is technology you can use to help center yourself in a fast-paced world?  If you are a busy entrepreneur it's likely that you wake up and hit the ground running. You make coffee and breakfast then go straight to work, fulfilling the needs of everyone else, often putting your business first before your own wellbeing. The result can often feel chaotic; meditation is a tool to remind yourself to put you first.  In Episode 71 of The Lean Out Your Business Podcast, Host Crista Grasso, discusses mindfulness and mediation with Christina Pearce, a guided Meditation Expert, Certified Breathwork Coach and the creator of OriginalU.co Morning Meditations. Christina has led over 60 businesses, schools and nonprofits on mindfulness practices and creating a wellness culture in the workplace. A former Professor in Yoga Studies at Pratt Institute and a recent Graduate of the Happiness Studies Academy, Christina is passionate about continuing to explore and discover what keeps life healthy, vibrant, and inspired. In Episode 71, Christina shares how mindfulness and meditation can specifically help entrepreneurs feel centered and be more successful.  Show topics include: 2:38 three things that make us stay healthy, vibrant and inspired 3:06 what does it mean to be centered 3:35 the importance of staying curious about life 4:18 the importance of being willing - willing to try new things, willing to share, willing to listen to others 7:12 why you need to get clear on what you want and what you don't want 10:10 why you should leverage meditation in your business 10:55 the difference between mindfulness and meditation 13:36 how to quiet your thoughts during meditation 14:00 what your mind is meant to do - how you can use this in your meditation practice 15:56 the key to a “successful” meditation practice 16:34  the gap in meditation and why our best ideas come from that gap 19:54 how to put routines in place around your meditation practice 21:48 using mindfulness in transition moments 23:37 why entrepreneurs need mindfulness and meditation 24:43 working from a relaxed state of mind 25:50 breathe as a key role in in meditation 27:00 the different types of breathe you can utilize in your meditation practice 31:04 the importance of night time practices 34:14 why you should question your relationship with technology in the evenings Links from Today's Episode: Ready to reclaim your day? At Lean Out Method, we've been talking a lot about what it looks like to reimagine our business. In Episode 67 of the Lean Out Your Business Podcast (part 1 of this series) we looked at determining how to know when the right time is to reimagine your business. We also went over a list of questions you should ask yourself while you're reimagining. If you haven't already, you may want to go back and listen to Episode 67 before diving into Episode 69.  In Episode 69, Host Crista Grasso, takes you on a practical behind the scenes tour of what reimagining her business, following Lean Out Method principles, this year is looking like. When she started to review her business she realized she was at about an 85% alignment, meaning her business was 85% aligned with her long term goals and vision. Believing that we all deserve exceptional, Crista began the critical work of reimagining her business. Because if 85% of her business was in alignment with her bigger vision, that meant that 15% was still out of alignment and she wasn't living a 100% fulfilled life.  Listen to Episode 69 of The Lean Out Business Podcast to hear the changes Crista is making at The Lean Out Method and the major lessons she has learned along the way.  Show topics include: 2:59 what to do when you have a lot of really good ideas and they all seem equally important 3:35 the spirit of lean - you can't do all of the things and you can't do all of the things all at the same time 3:42 what matters more than a good idea 4:11 the four pillars of The Lean Out Method 4:17 what you need to get really clear on before reimagining your business 4:29 creating a strategic plan to help you get from where you are at to where you want to be 5:00 using the million dollar idea evaluation to help determine what ideas are worth pursuing now 5:57 why 85% isn't good enough 6:53 being grateful while also not settling 7:44 getting good at saying “no” in order to reimagine your business 9:10 freedom is on the other side of fear 9:40 the practical changes Crista has made at Lean Out Method as a result of her reimagining 11:00 the biggest aha moment for Crista 11:54 understanding where you thrive and who you were meant to work with 13:59 biggest lessons learned while reimagining Lean Out Method 13:50 why reimagining your business is hard but necessary work 16:03 learning to listen to yourself and silence outside voices 17:07 debunking the myth that you need to pay a price for success 18:18 don't wait to get started reimagining your business - you can choose to change right now Work with Crista: If you're ready to reimagine your business but aren't sure where to start, book a free consultation call at scalingstrategycall.com Ready to build your signature, scalable offer? Joining a mastermind and getting into a room of like minded entrepreneurs may be the best thing you ever do to grow your business. Surrounded by successful individuals who are willing to encourage and challenge you, drawing on their experiences and learning from their mistakes could help launch your business to the next level, if you join at the right time for you and your business.  If you're in the beginning stages of a business (either the launch or emerge phase) you most likely will want to consider a group teaching or maybe a DIY course around a certain topic rather than joining a mastermind group.  It's really in the growth, scale or influence stage of business where entrepreneurs seem to receive the largest return on their time and monetary investment.  However, it's important to remember, not all masterminds are created equal, in fact there are a lot of different types to choose from and a lot of things to consider when deciding which (if any) are a good fit for you.  In today's episode of The Lean Out Your Business Podcast, Crisa Grasso, draws on her experience from attending and hosting masterminds to help you consider whether or not this is the right time for you to join a mastermind and if so, which type of mastermind might be the best fit for you.  Show topics include: 2:07 the benefits of joining a mastermind 2:35 the 5 stages of business and which stages best align with masterminds 5:35 things to consider when deciding if now is a good time to join a mastermind group 8:20 why it's important to have a mindset of abundance 8:35 the average cost of a 12 month mastermind 10:25 the top 10 things you should consider before joining a mastermind 10:45 what is the commitment requirement 11:25 how will you be expected to interact with the group 12:50 the size of the mastermind group 14:20 what's your access to the mastermind leader 15:10 the variety of businesses represented in the mastermind 18:01 the level of business success of other attendees in the mastermind 19:20 who is the leader of the group and do you know, like and trust them 23:54 will there be any in person or virtual retreats 25:43 what is the structure of the mastermind (will there be additional resources beyond meetings) 28:10 what is the application process Links from Today's Episode: Are you ready to grow your business to $500,000? Have you ever heard the saying, “what got you here, won't get you there?” It's the idea that the habits, the tasks, the mindset, behaviors and strategies you used to get to wherever you are in your life right now will only be good at keeping you where you're at. If you want to evolve or grow in your life and in your business (what entrepreneurs are known for) then you are going to have to change not only what you do, but who you need to be to support that growth.  On the surface it can sound a little scary but it's important to remember that your identity evolution does not change the core of who you are, your values and character get to stay the same, but the way you show up, the way you make decisions, the way you build and support a team, the way you manage your calendar; these are all aspects of ourselves that need to evolve, if we want to move past our current level of success.  In today's episode Crista Grasso, Host of The Lean Out Your Business Podcast dives deep into this idea of identity evolution, discussing both the types of transitions business owners face and practical ways to move past our sticking points in order to achieve our next level of success.  Show topics include: 1:30 what our identity is made of 1:45 the parts of our identity that stay consistent throughout a lifetime and the parts that  need to evolve 2:30 why we need to consider not only what we do, but who we need to be 3:47 the types of transformations entrepreneurs face 8:14 the common denominator in leveling up 10:28 how to get past the sticking points or plateaus in our business growth 11:13 signs that you may be holding onto a limiting belief/mindset 15:18 identity types you may need to step into 16:24 the questions you need to ask yourself as you prepare to level up 19:00 examples from the recent Lean Out, Level Up Retreat of transitions entrepreneurs realized they needed to make in order to grow their business 21:21 Crita's two biggest tips to help with your identity evolution Memorable quotes: “We often consider what we need to do to grow but often we don't consider who we need to be and we need to step into.” “True transformation does require an identity evolution.” Links from Today's Episode: Are you looking to make an identity shift and take your business to the next level? Have you ever chosen a word of the year? That word you use to guide your decision-making and hit your personal goals before the clock strikes 12 on New Year's Eve? I'm not a big fan of those words, mainly because I think they look good on social media but they rarely translate to action.  At The Lean Out Method, instead of choosing a word, we choose a themed intention, and then we set out to achieve that intention by putting in place strategies and systems that are aligned with the vision we have for ourselves, our business and our clients.  In 2021 the themed intention at The Lean Out Method was “Inspired Growth.” From a high level perspective a lot had to change in order for us to achieve that desired growth, but the biggest change came when I made the decision to focus exclusively on my entrepreneurial clients, removing all corporate clients (about 80% of my workload) from my schedule. You can hear more about this big bold business move in Episode 25 of The Lean Out Your Business Podcast. Last year our theme was inspired growth and our goal was to match the revenue that came in from my corporate clients. I'm proud to announce that we achieved that goal.  In 2022 our theme at The Lean Out Method  is “simple, sustainable scaling.” If you joined us in 2021 and also adopted the theme of inspired growth then I'd love to invite you to adopt our 2022 theme as well. Why? Because if you, like us, just went through a season of inspired growth, you most likely spent a lot of time creating. The creative energy is fun, but it's also messy. You most likely tried a bunch of different things to see what would work and there's a good chance that not all of that is sustainable if you want to scale success and not noise.  If you want to join us in simple sustainable scaling this year, start by listening to this episode where Host, Crista Grasso, Founder of The Lean Out Method discusses: 2:08 last year's intention of inspired growth 2:50 the high level changes she made to achieve her growth goals 5:51 what simple, sustainable scaling is 6:06 the number one thing you need to do before you scale your business 7:02 why you need to simplify after a creative season 8:58 what it looks like to embrace simplicity in your business 9:59 the first thing you want to simplify in your business 10:35 practical ways to simplify your schedule 11:40 how to simplify your business model 12:45 what your business needs in order to be sustainable 13:12 a key factor when looking at sustainability and your schedule 14:09 why daily heroics are bad for business 15:51 the difference between growth and scaling If you're ready to for simple, sustainable scaling in your business this year and want some help getting started, you can book your FREE assessment call at leanoutmethod.com/assessment Ready to build your signature, scalable offer? How many times have you tried unsuccessfully to live a “balanced” life? You're busy trying to juggle all of the things (your business, health, family, friends, hobbies) and no matter how hard you try, how well you plan, it seems like you fall short of the goal; in your attempt to feel balanced you've somehow ended up feeling more chaotic, less fulfilled and more overwhelmed. The truth is, at some point we've all overextended ourselves in the pursuit of balance and we've all bought into the lie that work/life balance even exists.   As a business owner, mom and wife Megan Sumrell, former corporate techie turned entrepreneur, knows exactly how hard it is to juggle #allthethings while still maintaining your own sense of self and purpose. When her daughter was born in 2010, life as she knew it completely changed. After struggling to manage work, motherhood, family, etc, Megan set about a new way to manage her time and organize her calendar. She took her 20+ year career in systems and processes and applied it to one of her favorite things…time management!  As a Time Management and Productivity Coach for women seeking Work+Life Harmony, Megan teaches specific strategies to help women get on top of their time, calendar and goals while getting rid of stress, overwhelm, and exhaustion. Upon reflection, she realized her jewelry business was far from lean. She had scaled it way too quickly, and without having taken the time to lean out the business first, she ended up scaling noise which resulted in making everything more expensive, more difficult to manage, and more difficult to sustain. From the outside, it looked like the business was wildly successful but it wasn't until she actually leaned out the business that the behind-the-scenes matched the outside illusion of success. This brought about the realization that so many big businesses were implementing a lean and agile way of working but so many small businesses had never heard of it. There was a whole world that they weren't leveraging, and sadly neither was she before this epiphany. So she created the Lean Out Method (LOM), which she designed specifically with the busy entrepreneur in mind to utilize the same principles and practices that large companies had been using for decades to significantly scale beyond their competitors, skyrocket profits, and reduce complexities and overhead.   Libby and Crista discuss: What the Lean Out Method is Why you should be utilizing lean practices no matter what size your business is Lean vs luxe, and how to be both The importance and necessity of measuring Why you have to be practicing lean if you want to crack the 7-figure mark in business Hiring for fit over hiring for skill How she went from barista to consultant overnight Connect with Crista: https://www.leanoutmethod.com/ https://criscara.com/ The Lean Out Your Business Podcast
