The money is there. 20% of U.S. GDP is spent on healthcare, it's simply not helping the American taxpayer. In addition to being on the national steering committee for the American Health Security Project, Dr. Jarvis has been practicing medicine for over 30 years and was a state health officer in Nevada. William Hartung returns to the show for a quick episode about a press release he published at the Institute for Public Accuracy. Hartung describes the current setup of America's ICBMs. The missiles are spread across the country, sitting on hair-trigger alert. It's a setup that many experts admit is dangerous, and unnecessary. Yet any effort to roll back the program has been blocked by the Senators who's states benefit the most from the presence of silos, as well as the companies that build them. Hartung explains what's at stake if the status quo is allowed to continue. Supply chain security is top of mind for government and industry these days. You've probably heard. But there's little agreement on how to get there. Scott talks to William Hartung about America's nuclear policy and the shocking profit motives that end up determining it. Hartung draws particular attention to land-based ICBMs, which, he explains, aren't nearly as effective, since they're fixed in one place, and for that same reason are especially vulnerable to the possibility of an accidental launch. When a country's government thinks their missile silos are being attacked, they have very little time to decide whether to launch those missiles in a counter-strike before losing the opportunity forever. This is why cutting back on ICBMs is one of the most important steps in reducing the risk of nuclear war. Unfortunately, leading voices in the U.S. government actually want to expand the nuclear arsenal, and since the money for such programs is often spread out in local political districts, opposition can be nearly impossible. In the era of so-called “fake news”, the rapid spread of misinformation throughout the COVID-19 pandemic has posed persistent challenges to decision-makers, policymakers and experts. Yet fake news was on the rise long before the 'Covid Infodemic': from the Brexit campaign to the threat posed by Russian-sponsored disinformation in Central and Eastern Europe, to the accusations of a fraudulent US Presidential Election, misinformation is spreading with greater and greater ease in Western democracies. To discuss these issues, and the important role think tanks can play in providing independent analysis to policymakers and the public, the IIEA gathers heads of leading European research institutes. About the Speakers: Dr Rosa Balfour is Director of Carnegie Europe. Her fields of expertise include European politics, institutions, and foreign and security policy. Prior to joining Carnegie Europe, she was a Senior Fellow at the German Marshall Fund of the United States and she also served as Director of the Europe in the World programme at the European Policy Centre in Brussels. Her current research focuses on the relationship between domestic politics and Europe's global role. Dr Robin Niblett is Director and Chief Executive of Chatham House, a position he has held since January 2007. He is currently co-Chair of the World Economic Forum's Global Futures Council on Geopolitics and he previously served as Chair of the Experts Group for the 2014 NATO Summit and Chair of the British Academy's Steering Committee of Languages for Security Project (2013). Before joining Chatham House, from 2001 to 2006, Robin was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Dr Nathalie Tocci is Director of the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) and Honorary Professor at the University of Tübingen. After a remarkable scramble, generally speaking, by businesses across the country to transition to a remote workforce, smart businesses are looking at what they can accomplish while workers are out of the office. Think of it as a state that takes advantage of fewer cars on the road to get some big road construction projects done. Today is sort of a continuation of episode 407 where we covered four fun stay-at-home security projects including FoldingAtHome building a headless pi-hole, redoing your network with a Dream Machine, and enjoing some music via Zoom by way of Q.U.A.C.K. In this episode, we cover: Pentester Academy is awesome and currently has a steal of a deal if you're looking to score a membership on the cheap! CompTIA caught my eye because they're offering 20% off certain tests/bundles with coupon code earthday2020. Personally I'm this close to pulling the trigger on this CompTIA Cloud+ bundle, and even better, they offer online testing during this stay-at-home time! Pi-Holes are a free and awesome way to keep ads and other garbage off your network. Additionally, I give you 100 extra nerd points if you enable DNSSSEC. Just make sure your date/time settings on the box is correct, otherwise DNS will be pretty broken. I discuss a fix here on the 7MS forums.... Read more at 7ms.us!
In today's episode I share four fun stay-at-home security projects - three with a security focus and one centered around music. Let's gooooooooo! FoldingAtHome The Folding At Home project helps use your GPU/CPU cycles for COVID-19 research. From the Web site: We need your help! Folding@home is joining researchers around the world working to better understand the 2019 Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) to accelerate the open science effort to develop new life-saving therapies. By downloading Folding@Home, you can donate your unused computational resources to the Folding@home Consortium, where researchers working to advance our understanding of the structures of potential drug targets for 2019-nCoV that could aid in the design of new therapies. The data you help us generate will be quickly and openly disseminated as part of an open science collaboration of multiple laboratories around the world, giving researchers new tools that may unlock new opportunities for developing lifesaving drugs. It's awesome! Since I run my cracking rig as a headless Linux install, I followed the advanced install and then used the command line options to run FAHClient standalone (only because personally I don't really love running extra, always-on services on any of my boxes). It looks like FAH is having a good problem in that there are more resource donors than research to number-crunch on! Keep tabs on the forums for up-to-date information. See more information at 7ms.us!
Been there, done that, with deadly rocket attacks over the heads of Israelis in the south of Israel, and yet again another round of elections coming up for Israelis where we are supposed to vote in leaders that PROMISE us security, but don't effectively deliver. So what's the right formula and who should we vote for? Also, why do most IDF generals lean to the Left? And what happened Sunday night at a Bibi rally in Ramat Gan, Israel? -with guests: Marc Prowisor, Director of Security Projects at www.facebook.com/oneisraelfund and Avi Abelow, Jewish Activist and Director of www.IsraelUnwired.com and www.PulseofIsrael.com The Tamar Yonah Show 24FEB2020 - PODCAST

In this episode of The Sustainable Angler Podcast, I interview Dr. Peter Barile and Terry Gibson from the American Water Security Project. As you probably already know, Florida is facing major water issues, but what you might not know, is that many of the water problems our country is facing are directly related to sewage and wastewater infrastructure upgrades and repairs. As our population continues to grow, so does our need for more thoughtful planning. We also discuss how climate change is directly related to the water issues that are negatively affecting our fisheries. Very educational interview, and I personally learned a lot from Peter and Terry. Hope you enjoy!
Finally, edition four of Poppies From A Tray arrives hot off the presses, featuring the legendary drummer Jerry Marotta, who has worked with Paul McCartney, Robert Fripp, Kate Bush, Hall & Oates and a multitude more. Perhaps best known among Poppies aficionados for his work with Peter Gabriel in the 1970s and '80s, Jerry has rekindled that music with The Security Project, a great band that brings those early PG albums back to life on stage. He was kind enough to welcome on their tour bus for an interview a while back when they played a show at Trading Boundaries. It's fascinating stuff from a master musician.

America continues its unwavering devotion to Saudi Arabia, despite the gruesome murder of Jamal Khashoggi and the humanitarian catastrophes in Yemen. What is behind this resolute support to America's undemocratic ally in the Middle East? Bill Hartung dives into the history of the U.S.-Saudi relationship, U.S. arms sales, and just how much of the arms trade actually benefits America's defense companies. How is the war in Yemen being supported by America's arms dealers, and are U.S. defense contractors really benefiting the American economy as President trump insists? Bill pushes us to evaluate this relationship, and the costs taxpayers are willing to accept for the benefit and profit of the American arms lobby. Bill Hartung is Director of the Arms and Security Project at the Center for International Policy. You can read his recent report titled U.S. Arms Sales to Saudi Arabia: the Corporate Connection.

The Security Project, featuring members of King Crimson, Shriekback and Peter Gabriel’s original band bring the genre-less masterpieces of Peter Gabriel into the 21st Century on their new live album “Live 1”. Seattle-based Trey Gunn and Michael Cozzi join esteemed drummer Jerry Marotta and NY keyboardist David Jameson to harness the core of these songs. Added to the pedigree of these players is the voice of Brian Cummins, whose interpretations add haunting authenticity to the immaculate arrangements. These live recordings are a first – no one has dared take on Peter Gabriel’s material at this level before!
