Get ready for another unforgettable adventure through fatherhood, fandom, and hilarious life lessons as Charles and Joe roll the dice and let fate decide the path of this episode of Wise_N_Nerdy. The episode opens with the always entertaining Question of the Week: “Which video game world would be the most difficult to survive in for a month?” What begins as a fun hypothetical quickly turns into a survival challenge worthy of gaming legends. The hosts and community throw around brutal worlds and impossible odds, discussing nightmare scenarios from Duke Nukem and the monster-filled chaos of Resident Evil. Between alien invasions, zombie outbreaks, and impossible odds, Charles and Joe debate whether surviving would come down to skill, luck, or simply accepting defeat immediately. As tradition demands, the dice determine the next destination—and naturally they summon a barrage of Bad Dad Jokes, courtesy of Joe's middle child, Bob. Groans echo across the kingdom as joke after joke lands with the perfect blend of cringe, chaos, and dad-approved comedy. The dice roll again and land on the always insightful “Parliament of Papas” segment. This time, the hosts react to a workplace dilemma involving someone who took PTO specifically to enjoy a newly released video game, only to have an entitled coworker pressure them into giving up their day off so she could visit family instead. Charles and Joe unpack expectations around personal time, respecting boundaries, and why rest, hobbies, and recreation are not somehow less valuable simply because they look different from someone else's priorities. Next, fate leads into the reflective “Daddy, Tell Me A Story” segment, where Charles and Joe discuss those unforgettable moments in life when they realized adults don't actually have everything figured out. Through personal stories and honest reflection, they explore how growing up often means discovering that the people you looked up to were simply doing their best. The conversation becomes an unexpectedly meaningful reminder that uncertainty doesn't make someone incapable—it makes them human. The dice continue their journey into the practical “How Do I…?” segment, where the hosts tackle a challenge that becomes surprisingly difficult as life gets busier: How do you make friends as an adult? Charles and Joe explore ways to build meaningful relationships through shared interests, intentional effort, showing up consistently, and creating space for connection. Whether through hobbies, gaming groups, parenting circles, conventions, or simply reaching out first, the discussion offers encouraging advice for anyone trying to expand their community and deepen friendships. Finally, the episode closes with “What Are You Nerding Out About?” Charles shares his excitement over the Netflix adaptation of Devil May Cry, talking about how thoroughly he's enjoying the action, style, and energy of the series. Meanwhile, Joe reflects on quality family time spent introducing his youngest son to Super Mario World—proving once again that some gaming experiences never lose their magic. Joe also talks about completing his first randomizer experience with The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, discovering a fresh new appreciation for a classic adventure through unexpected twists and discoveries. This episode delivers everything Wise_N_Nerdy fans love: gaming discussions, thoughtful conversations, nostalgic stories, practical advice, and enough dad jokes to cause emotional damage. Whether you're here for the fandom, the fatherhood, or the friendship, there's a seat waiting for you. So gather your party, roll the dice, and don't forget to Find your FAMdom. Known for his charismatic roles and deep connection to geek culture, Fillion has amassed a variety of collectibles that reflect his love for gaming and science fiction. This discussion naturally transitions into a detailed examination of Nathan Fillion's action figures, highlighting some of the most iconic pieces in his collection, including figures from his roles in popular series like Firefly and Castle. The guys share anecdotes about the significance of these figures to Fillion's fandom and how they represent his journey as an actor who has embraced his nerdy side. In an intriguing twist, they explore a fan theory that has circulated among Murder She Wrote enthusiasts, which posits a surprising connection between Jessica Fletcher and some of the show's most infamous villains. We share some non-spoiler thoughts on the series finale of The Boys to start things off. Sean then talks about watching Mortal Kombat 2 and playing Forza Horizon 6. Paul continues to play Resident Evil (shocker). It's a bummer of a news week since Destiny 2 is coming to an end and the developers are getting laid off and PlayStation is increasing PS+ prices, but at least Nintendo is putting out some weird mobile micro-games. After years in development hell, a live-action adaptation of the blockbuster survival horror video game Resident Evil finally hit screens in 2002. As opposed to just retelling a story fans were already familiar with, this was intended to be a prequel featuring a new set of characters and references to the series deeper lore. That's... sort of what this is. Not really. And as a result, the film's financial success was offset by a backlash from gamers who didn't appreciate the bait and switch. Or a Resident Evil that was light on gore and heavy on post-Matrix style action. But now that we're on the eve of Zach Cregger's reboot, we thought it would be a good time to take a look back at where it all began for RE on the big screen. Topics include: earlier incarnations that were more reflective of the first game, George A. Romero's involvement with the project (and unceremonious departure), why Paul W.S. Anderson was exactly the right guy for the approach the producers favored, how many similarities this shares with his eventual Alien Vs. Predator film, the make-up and effects, whether or not the lack of gore is the real issue here, thoughts on the sequels, hopes for the reboot, and much more! #thestrokes #thepunisher #mcu As two of the biggest fans of The Strokes, the first couple of singles have got us scratching our heads. Is it just Julian and Co. experimenting in new directions? Or signs that this album will be an indulgent, vocoder-laden mess? We also get into Obe's first trip to his ethnic homeland of Puerto Rico, the Punisher's latest outing with the MCU, One Last Kill, Zach Cregger's upcoming Resident Evil movie, and a host of other bibs and bobs as we sip three P.R.-exclusive brews straight from the Caribbean. Most videogames that receive cinematic adaptations are big - the likes of Uncharted, Minecraft, Sonic the Hedgehog and Resident Evil, all of which have been adapted, some several times, are among the biggest games in history, and their cinematic versions are typically intended to be blockbusters. Exit 8 is not. It is an independent Japanese game made by one person, turned into a low-budget, high-concept, Japanese horror film. And most cinematic adaptations of videogames are not very good. The medium has a long history of failing to translate well to film. Exit 8 makes a success of the transition, finding plenty of space in the slight source material to tell a story about routine, fear of change, and personal improvement. We discuss what makes the adaptation work and where it might not, think through the story's internal logic, and, as we did with Godzilla Minus One, remark upon the film's visual quality given its small budget, asking where all that money goes when Hollywood spends ten times the amount to achieve the same results. Exit 8 is a welcome surprise, particularly to Mike, who really thought it'd be rubbish. Recorded on 27th April 2026.
Making up for last time (no regular episode of CPP in a few weeks … and still, sadly, no Biff) Joe and Jacques record this super long fun filled ADHD all over the map episode. We start with going deep into the CPP vault and playing a fan favorite Joe – Self Indulgent Theater (which really, it's not Joe being indulged ... but at Jacques demanding) … John Oliver doing the theme from Cheers. Start off talking the fun new Eddie Murphy doc (and the need for him to do a puppeteering special) … which led to talking Dolemite Is My Name bio-pic Murphy did … which led to us watching and talking Rudy Ray Moore (the real Dolemite's movie) The Human Tornado! Into the weekly, this is why Tony V is the greatest talk and how awesome the Kristin O'Brien Town and City Fest show was couple weeks ago, Like to say thanks to Jim Gaffigan for I'm sure he'd say yes had we asked, uses of his clip on “Spring”! Dominik Lay on the School Committee in Lowell has become Jacques “Public Enemy Number Dumb” and has set Jacques down path of getting more involved in local government … but also Jacques and Management did met Ed Markey this week! Chat Managements amazing humanitarian trip to Ukraine last week to … driving a donated car from London to Lviv Ukraine and working at a dog sanctuary in Lviv. Chat VAR questionable call in Westham Arsenal game being THE most consequential call in VAR Premier League history — giving Arsenal the title (over City) AND relegating the Hammers! Chat the great Siskel and Ebert long run of shows of movie reviews, Dare Devil Reborn season 2, Maul – Shadow Lord and YES … squeezes in some Resident Evil 9 gaming talk. … And … a parenting tip? After a week off due to Izzy finally moving into the new house, NAFC is back—and this time with a guest. Sindi joins the boys for an episode that immediately devolves into complete nonsense in the best way possible. The gang bounces between sperm whales, video games, movies, and the truly important debate: who wins in a fight, Frodo or Harry Potter? There's also plenty of millennial gamer nostalgia as everyone reminisces about the “good old days” before battle passes, launcher apps, and patch notes became full-time jobs. They also squeeze in a brief review of Hoppers (2025), talk about the upcoming Resident Evil movie, Gibbs checks back in on The Pitt, and Sindi shares thoughts on Manifest. It's chaotic, unfocused, and exactly what you'd expect after a week-long break.Support us on Patreon!

Drusilla and Josh discuss Osgood Perkins' new cult classic, Longlegs. From wiki: “Longlegs is a 2024 American mystery horror film written and directed by Osgood Perkins. The film stars Maika Monroe, Blair Underwood, Alicia Witt, and Nicolas Cage. Set in the 1990s, the story follows a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent assigned to hunt down an occult-obsessed serial killer responsible for a string of family murders across Oregon. The killer is dubbed Longlegs, and baffles the FBI with his perfect ability to seemingly leave zero trace of involvement at the crime scenes.”Also discussed: glam rock, Mortal Kombat II, Obsession, Resident Evil, people who talk during movies, Sheep Detectives, Tiny Tim, Silence of the Lambs, Corpses Fools and Monsters, and more. This figure was driven overwhelmingly by sales of Resident Evil games. Notably, Resident Evil Requiem, released in February, sold nearly 7 million units by the end of March.Capcom said 83.7% of its game sales came from older ‘catalog' titles, while a huge 93% of the games it sold were digital download versions.Looking forward, the company said it anticipates net sales of 210,000 million yen and operating profit of 83,000 million yen, which would result in ten consecutive years of record high profit for the company.https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/capcom-just-sold-more-games-than-in-any-year-in-its-history/Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic Director Has Controversial View on Game LengthLink:https://gamerant.com/star-wars-fate-of-the-old-republic-game-length/ 007 First Light Has Officially Gone GoldLink: https://gamerant.com/007-first-light-gone-gold/ “2nd Opinion Game Recommendations”(Recommend 2 or three games that people may not have played or should be playing)

Update on our week: Andy and Daniel discuss the Chicago White Sox and their hesitation to sign a new player in Munetaka Murakami despite him having scored over 10 home runs, with 4 being in one game alone. Here is to hoping for a continued good season for the local ball team. Andy brings up the current JP Morgan lawsuit involving alleged sexual harassment in the workplace. The guys give their take on how this is becoming more common in the workplace often involving the wealthy and people in positions of power. Daniel beats Assassin's Creed Origins on the PS5, and unfortunately, he did not enjoy it as much as other games within the AC franchise. Noel talks about having beat the 1st game and looking forward to a early sequels, but he has avoided some of the more recent offerings, as they have not been so well received. Daniel has finally joined the PC Gaming community and started out his gaming journey with GTA IV, using mods that really enhance the look and feel of the game, updating the quality for the modern audience. Andy and Daniel talk about CM Punk being involved in another incident where 911 emergency services were called. CM Punk pushed an apparent fan who was asking for an autograph which prompted the fan to call the police to press charges against CM Punk. Noel talks about the new Resident Evil movie teaser trailer and the guys discuss how the previous adaptations have not panned out and the hope for this to be a fresh new start to a better showing for the RE franchise on film. Noel gives an in-depth review of the new horror movie Hokum, a creepy supernatural movie set in Ireland. The horror movies of 2026 have not disappointed and this newest showing keeps the momentum going. Welcome back to the podcast format after about two months since our review of Resident Evil 9: Requiem and in this episode we dive into the brand new mini game DLC called "Leon Must Die Forever" and we discuss the recent happenings of Zach Creggers new Resident Evil film reboot. We also get into what is up and coming on the channel soon!
In this episode of Pixelated Playgrounds Bryan and Clint are diving into Resident Evil Requiem, and coming at it from two angles: Bryan jumped on board with the series starting at Resident Evil 7, while Clint has been a lifelong devotee. Developed and published by Capcom, the game showcases a studio operating at full strength. We were struck immediately by the visual fidelity and the sound design, which is as tense and reactive as anything in the genre. The story follows FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and returning series icon Leon S. Kennedy as they investigate deaths tied to Raccoon City, and right away we get a sense of the game's defining idea: two protagonists, two playstyles, and a deliberate split between survival horror dread and full-throttle action. Its a novel approach to solving the problem that often causes Survival horror games to fall flat as the player becomes more powerful. Grace's sections lean into vulnerability, limited resources, puzzle-solving, and slow, nerve-wracking exploration, while Leon's segments let us cut loose with bigger weapons and chaotic combat. That push and pull gives the game a rhythm we found incredibly compelling, constantly resetting tension and payoff. Resident Evil Requiem doesn't reinvent the series so much as perfect its modern form, elevated zombie camp executed with precision, and a reminder that Capcom has been quietly mastering this formula for years.Three Word Reviews:Clint - Old Meets NewBryan - Elevated Zombie Camp

After a month of Resident Evil games we decided we couldn't get enough and opened it up for some more - along with everything else coinciding with Capcom! Yes it's our first (I think?) episode dedicated to a specific developer, and Capcom is a great start. Despite having a blue logo, they've been red hot this year with Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, and we're here to talk about them both. We've also got some other Capcom games to discuss like Super Puzzle Fighter 2, Marvel Vs Capcom, a bunch of Mega Man games, Resident Evil 8 - and more! We've also got some general banter about Capcom's place in the industry and some Capcom trivia - it's a packed episode! So grab your Mega Buster and your headphones and join us - for this look at Capcom games!Got any specific developers you think we should cover next? Send us an email at beatofthemonth@gmail.com.!
