STAR OF BETHLEHEM OR UFO? In the first half, guest-host Victor Viggiani examines the lore of the star of Bethlehem which, according to the Bible, guided three wisemen to where a new born child of significant eminence lay in a construct that sheltered animals. Tradition says they came to hail the birth of a new king. Is it possible the star of Bethlehem was actually UFO? https://sites.google.com/site/zlandco... http://www.nigelkerner.com/home.html Guest: Nigel Kerner was born in Sri Lanka, his mother from a British planting family and his father an officer in the British Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. His fascination with the puzzling and enigmatic phenomenon of UFOs resulted in his first book 'The Song of the Greys.' ? A NEW UNDERSTANDING OF CHRISTMAS In hour two, Victor and guest examine a number of provocative questions surrounding Christmas: Who actually were the Magi? Kings or Scientists? What was the celestial phenomenon we are told the Magi followed in the sky? Why was Mary chosen to be the Mother of Jesus? What was the role played by King Herod in the highly politicized world in Judea before and after Christ's birth. Also - how did the Prophecies in the Old Testament foretell the birth of history's most influential man, a man destined to be born in a stable, among lowly farm animals and shepherds? Guest: Father Robert Geis is a Prelate Protosyncellus in the Eastern Orthodox rite. He has published a number of books on philosophy and theology, as well as Holy Scripture. His work on the Resurrection in the National Catholic Herald is cited as "a remarkable book." His work on immortality received high marks in the philosophic journal The Review of Metaphysics. Sometimes it's the smallest of adjustments that make the biggest differences... Tonight! On this episode we sit down with designer and CAFTCAD nominee Anne Dixon to talk about the CAFTCAD Awards which are streaming online; TONIGHT this Saturday Night May 1st at 8PM on the CAFTCAD Facebook and YouTube feeds. For over a decade, the Canadian Alliance of Film and Television Costume Arts and Design (CAFTCAD) has brought together Canadian costume professionals from all corners of the industry, regardless of union affiliation. The founders of this Alliance understood that Canadian costumers would be stronger together than individually. The CAFTCAD Awards, which held its inaugural event in 2019, are the culmination of these efforts to bring the costuming community together, recognize and reward talent, and usher CAFTCAD onto the world stage. Anne is a past winner on films like 'The Song of Names' and we talk to her about the little nuances that are so special in the field and are of such paramount importance during the entire production process of any TV Show or Film. Tom Wilmott selects 'The Exorcist' by William Peter Blatty. Published in 1971, the novel portrays the wildly disturbing behaviour of 12 year old Regan, whose mother seeks help from a plethora of medical specialists until, in desperation, she arranges a priest to perform an exorcism of her daughter to cast out the devil. In a fascinating and deeply personal reading of the book, Tom sees the devil as a stand in for depression. We discuss the lengths to which he has shaped his practice in a dedicated effort to keeping his own destructive side at bay and maintain mental wellness. Resulting in a non-commercial art practice, his unique approach has also given rise to charitable initiatives including Painting Pro Bono and Painting Per Diem. This episode contains explicit language. On this week's show, we begin (1:22) ̣by discussing the new translation of 'The Tale of Kieu' recently released by Penguin Classics under the name 'The Song of Kieu.' Nguyen Du's original version, written in the early 19th century, is considered Vietnam's most important work of classic literature. Why did Penguin release a translation without the involvement of any Vietnamese scholars? Then (17:41), we look at the recent launches of several Vietnamese social networks aiming to compete with the likes of Facebook and YouTube. Do they stand a chance? Our interview guest is Thuc Dang, who writes the 'Vietnam's Next Top Bitches' music review Facebook page (28:56). We chatted about the evolution of Vietnamese music in recent years, and what he hopes to see in the future. As always, we end with Bánh Mì Banter (49:31).
In this episode I speak with Louise Hewett who is the author of the Pictish Spirit series of fiction novels. The books explore the ethics of intimacy and sexual politics, looking at many challenging themes that explore discussion around the acceptability of cultural norms. It covers feminism, the sexualisation of violence, sexuality and relationships, as well as being set in a very Pagan community of present day Adelaide. While exploring these political themes, Louise also explores the reality of Pagan life in the spiritual experiences of everyday people in ritual, meditation, healing and open awareness. The books are enormous and a real outpouring of Louise's inspiration. They are full of poetry and musical lyrics and she has also inspired musicians within the Pagan community to put her words into their art. The interview also includes some of these tracks. Purchase the first book of the Pictish Spirit series, 'Mist' at Book Depository or Amazon. You can find out more about Louise's work on Facebook through Pictish Spirit, Egg and Serpent Studio, and The Hearth of the Antlered Mother. Where are forests hot as fire/ Wide as England, tall as a spire." Brothers Ari and Ethan Gold tackled the coming-of-age story, 'The Song of Sway Lake,' as a writer-director and composer. The film can be described as, “Music collector Ollie Sway recruits his only friend, a rowdy Russian drifter, to help him steal a 78 record from his own family's estate.” Both brothers are interested in music and filmmaking. Ethan, the composer, has directed music videos. Ari, the writer-director, has been in various bands and created music. Together, the focus is always on story and “rowing in the same direction.” In this interview, the duo discusses tapping into shared emotional experiences, real life inspirations for character, composing based on theme, the benefits and risks of working with siblings, how disagreements can lead to elevation, how to dig into yourself, and the truth about their friend Adrian Grenier and the character Ari Gold on 'Entourage.' Song link The song at the end of the sermon is 'The Song of Kingdom Come' for Christian Aid Week 2018. Bible readings Isaiah 11:1-9 (NIV) The Branch From Jesse 11 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. 2 The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord— 3 and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. 5 Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. 6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. 7 The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The infant will play near the cobra's den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper's nest. 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. Mark 4:30-34 (NIV) The Parable of the Mustard Seed 30 Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. 32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.” 33 With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. 34 He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.

Ep. 9 - "A Distant Mirror" begins to paint the portrait of Beethoven's life. We first describe his grandfather, the first Ludwig van Beethoven. This Ludwig was our great composer's lifelong musical idol and the one person he sought to emulate in nearly everything he did. We then meet Beethoven's father, Johann, and explore the first half of the tragedy that was his life. ---------------- For all things GCP Please rate, review, and subscribe on iTunes! His formal graduate education is in biomedical science and human behavioural psychology. His fascination with the puzzling and enigmatic phenomenon of UFOs resulted in his first book 'The Song of the Greys' published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1997. This serious work on the subject is now noted world-wide for its radical view on the phenomenon. His latest book, 'Grey Aliens and the Harvesting of Souls' published by Inner Traditions/Bear & Company is the second in a trilogy about the UFO phenomenon and its social repercussions on humanity. His books and numerous articles have established his unique thesis as part of the canon of serious literature on the subject. Nigel Kerner lives with his wife and family on his estate in middle England. He has a passionate interest in projects on behalf of the deprived and disadvantaged of developing nations. He is at present working with his family and a team of European friends and volunteers on a medical and agro-development project done on behalf of the rural poor in a country in the Far East. We're launching our very own Breakfast Show Anthem for THAT thing that's happening over in Stratford, and we're calling it 'The Song for a Grown-Up Sports Day' - and here's Michelle Durrant's entry...
Welcome to episode 93! This week we discuss 'The Devil's Backbone', a 2001 Spanish horror/thriller directed by Guillermo del Toro. Stay tuned to the end of the show after the final music, as we make some additional comments regarding the title of the movie. Our 'laid to rest' segment didn't have much... just a confirmation that we didn't care for last week's movie! Lori (that's me) mentions once again the totally awesome Harry Potter fanfiction 'Rise of the Phoenix'. Our 'Garbage In- Garbage Out' segment is short, as we haven't had the time this week to watch many movies or shows. Short mentions include the TV shows 'Person of Interest' and 'Terra Nova', as well as Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland'. The Devil's Backbone: El Espinazo del Diablo (2001) R: Twelve-year-old Carlos (Fernando Tielve) is the latest arrival at Santa Lucia School, an imposing stone building that shelters orphans of the Republican militia and politicians during the last days of the Spanish Civil War. Carlos gradually uncovers the dark ties that bind the inhabitants of the school: hidden riches, sexual intrigue and the restless ghost of a murdered student, who may be the only one to provide resolution.
