I met Aaron at the Budokon retreat this summer, and I was immediately impressed by his candor, kindness, and the depth of his intellect. Then, when I learned that he led men's groups, I thought he'd be a great guest for the podcast, since I know little about that world and, in fact, have some resistance to what often ends up being somewhat exploitative of men's very real sense of alienation and desperation. But Aaron seemed like the real deal, so I invited him to set me straight on that. Please check out Khuda, the app I mentioned, and let Pete Lord and me know what you think.Intro music “Brightside of the Sun,” by Basin and Range. “Stand by Me,” by Ben E. Trained as a neuroscientist, Elliot is the Principle Scientist at a nonprofit called The Good Food Institute, which is focused on building an innovation ecosystem that will accelerate the development of alternatives to conventional/industrialized production of meat, eggs, and dairy. They believe that we can avoid or mitigate the many negative externalities of industrial meat production by instead making meat from plants or growing it directly from animal cells. I've got my doubts, but Elliot makes a convincing case. In this episode, Jasmine, Kestrel, and Eliza dive into the magic behind our pre-natal Venus cazimi's (that is: conjunctions with the Sun). Together, we explore this season's Venus retrograde and cazimi in Leo, Venus' synodic cycle, and what the Venus cazimi that predates your birth says about you. To do so, we unpack Arielle Guttman's theory of Venus star points and share personal stories about how we resonate with our own star points… as well as what this most recent visit to the underworld has yielded. We had so much fun recording this episode, and we hope that you enjoy tuning in too.

Melayne Shayne, who I jokingly refer to as Mrs Budokon in this episode, is of course much more than just a Mrs. She is the VP and global brand director of the Budokon University and Academy, as well as a Budokon Mixed Movement Athlete herself, and founder of the Warrior Women Tribe. What is Budokon, you may ask? According to its creator and founder Cameron Shayne, Budokon is a system of mixed movement arts, combining martial arts, calisthenics and yoga into one seamless system. For Melayne, moving is more than creating forms and shapes with the body: it is a lifelong commitment to self reflection and personal development. Melayne's love for practicing and sharing mixed-movement and living her philosophy is reflected in her grounded teaching style, commitment to her Budokon black belt and most notably, in the passion she has for bringing women together through her Warrior Women events and global network. We chat about: what the Way of the Warrior Woman is, what movement means to Melayne, how the trajectory of her career led her to where she is now, the new Budokon headquarters in Montana, and right at the end we get into the really juicy stuff and discuss sexuality in the context of monogamy or lack thereof. I hope you enjoy this conversation. You can learn more about budokon at budokon.com and follow Melayne on Instagram @melayneshayne.

In this episode I had the pleasure to host Donato Helbling. For those who don't know, Donato is the founder of Miami Ice Club, a community dedicated to cultivating regular breath work and cold exposure practice, helping members to activate their ability to regulate their autonomic nervous system. He is the only Certified Wim Hof Instructor in South Florida, and has trained directly under Wim Hof himself. If you follow me on social media (@pedrosorren) on all accounts, you'll see that I have been jumping on ice tanks for the last five months. Regular breathing and ice baths have completely rewired my mind, body, and spirit—eradicating anxiety and depression. If you want a protocol to be an Inevitable founder/investor, you'll find that on the ice club. I have taken several friends, LPs and CEOs to this experience. Donato is also a Budokon black belt and has over 15 years of experience in Miami and traveling worldwide, with Budokon University teaching Yoga, Martial Arts, Mobility, Meditation and Life Coaching. Additionally, he is the Director of Human Development Labs, a consulting firm that works with leaders in different industries. He had amazing personal and professional experiences, and shared some of these learnings with us. Here are some of the questions that I asked Donato: Can you tell us about your childhood? In your opinion, what is the difference between Budokon and other martial arts that you have practiced? Where do you get your desire to not give up and run so many different initiatives in your life? How did you find out about ice baths and the Wim Hof Method? How was training and taking the ice baths with Wim Hof himself? What were the challenges that you faced when you decided to create the ice bath community in Miami? How did you overcome them? How did you start the Miami Ice Club? You can listen to this and other Inevitable Podcast episodes on Youtube, Spotify and all other audio platforms.

Chris Magee (@mageesy), head of yoga at Psycle London, is a teacher's teacher who runs trainings and retreats worldwide (in normal times) when he is not offering what is marketed to be the toughest yoga class in London, aptly named OMFG. The accomplished Irish yogi has a surprising and compelling path. A keen rugby player in his teens, he then trained as an actor in London and was dutifully sent to yoga by his movement coach while in recovery from several injuries he'd previously suffered on the field. One thing led to another, more yoga and more injuries, he moved from what he referred to 'ego-driven unawareness' to a completely new path, one that revolutionised the way he trained himself and how he shared that with other people.Chris holds the highest available E-500RYT from Yoga Alliance and is trained in Hatha, Vinyasa, Budokon, Ashtanga, Rocket Yoga and Acro Yoga with roughly 2000 hours of training to date.In this conversation, Chris candidly shares his wins and challenges around practice since his early start, his move from acting to training to yoga and how all three talents combined somehow into a 'perfect storm'. Anne and Chris discuss the difficulties that can be expected while teaching in a pandemic, what are the ways in for beginners away from a studio, and what it's like to hold space for all different types of students to find what they need out of the practice. Not only is Chris an incredibly experienced teacher with much to share, but he also knows how to make his story come to life - we can only imagine how fun this must be for the students in his yoga class. Born December 11th 1971, Cameron Shayne is considered the father of the mixed movement arts culture. He is a social philosopher, educator, fighter, yogi, satirist, artist, writer, and founder of Budokon University. Based in Los Angeles, CA, during the 90's, the mecca for yoga in the Western world, Cameron established himself as one of the pioneering voices and transmitters of contemporary yoga and martial arts. As a teacher of teachers, he is renown for his founding of the Budokon Yoga style, the Budokon Mixed Movement Arts System, and his inspiring and provocative writings on the contemporary movement scene. His radically honest and transparent style of teaching through critical analysis has established him as a guiding voice for modern yoga and the movement culture. Cameron and Kyle cover a lot of ground in this conversation. Cameron discusses developing an athletic foundation, and the ability to move between various movement languages, rather than only being focussed on tricks. He talks about teaching, studentship, learning, and mastery of craft; qualities that can be confused or lost in the age of social media. He also shares how education of the various modalities of his Budokon system are integrated. And, he talks about the illusion of an objective reality.

Today's guest is Cameron Shayne. Cameron is the Founder and Director of Budokon and is considered the father and founder of mixed movement arts. Cameron pioneered the phrase and concept of BDK Mixed Movement Arts by combining Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Mixed Martial Arts, Yoga, Crawling Patterns, Mobility, Calisthenics, and Cognitive Studies into a single black belt system known as Budokon. Cameron describes movement as a way of examining mind, and believes practicing Budokon can be an excellent way to facilitate self-transformation and self-discovery by breaking down a person's false constructs of self. Cameron began studying Martial Arts and Zen meditation at the age of 12, and yoga asana training at 25. He has black belts in both Karate and Taekwondo, as well as his Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu under the Gracie System. He's also the movement coach for the Bellator world champion Lovato Jr. fight team as well as artists & entertainers Charlie Sheen, Sean Penn, Slash, Courtney Cox, Rene Russo, Meg Ryan and Jennifer Aniston as well as Olympians Kerrie Walsh-Jennings and Sugar Ray Leonard. In this interview, we go into his upbringing and what got him interested in martial arts and yoga. We discuss his experience working as a bodyguard for Charlie Sheen and the lessons he took from that experience. We touch on plant medicine, instant fame, and self-discovery. And of course, delve deep into Budokon and movement. I met Jamie Scott Harris one random Friday when my son and I were out walking with a friend of ours and her dogs. He was meditating in the park and we eventually struck up a conversation about yoga, life, and purpose. By the end of it, I knew I had to have him as a guest! After pursuing a career in yoga instruction and finding himself in a new state, Jamie came to a new path of his journey through life. He discovered a transformational mentorship group called My Life My Power, and his life mission was suddenly and dramatically expanded. Coupled with Gratitude Training and his guitar, Jamie now leads a life focused on uplifting others in their own passions and dreams. (Sound familiar??) In our podcast, Jamie delivers a very powerful message about finding and living your authentic self, sloughing off that which burdens you and is not working. He is full of enthusiasm about encouraging others to find what they are passionate about. In particular, he helps kids from all walks of life open up their minds to their true potentials and, in that same vein, talks about focusing one’s influence on how they can help others (“no longer ‘me’ but ‘we’”). With a special musical treat included at the end, this podcast is perfect for anyone and everyone seeking life as a curvist!
