Bitcoin is down hard… so is it a buyable asset class or just a trader's toy?Jim Iuorio and Bob Iaccino welcome back Shana Orczyk Sissel (Founder & CEO, Banrion Capital)—aka the queen of alternatives—for a fast, wide-ranging conversation on crypto positioning, market breadth, why earnings feel “rigged” by whisper numbers, and whether crude oil is setting up for a real move.Shana breaks down how she thinks about Bitcoin as a high-risk alternative allocation, why ETFs may be the best on-ramp for most investors, and where crypto fits inside a broader portfolio. Then the conversation pivots into the bigger market picture: the AI trade broadening out, equal-weight vs. cap-weight as a “stock picking is back” signal, and why quarterly earnings have become a game of under-promise/over-deliver. Finally, Jim and Bob dig into crude oil—technical setup vs. fundamental reality—and touch on how headline-driven policy noise can skew sentiment. What you'll learn in this episode- Where Bitcoin fits in a real portfolio (tradable vs investable framework)- Best way to own crypto for most people: ETF vs cold storage vs exchange accounts- A simple “top coins” idea: crypto index-style exposure (top basket discussion)- Why the AI rotation and market breadth can be a healthy sign- How equal-weight vs market-cap weight can hint that stock picking is working- Why Shana thinks earnings reactions are overrated (and why companies “game” guidance)- Crude oil: technical breakout talk vs fundamental supply/demand skepticism- Energy stocks + deepwater drilling: what actually needs to happen for that theme to workTimestamps:00:00 – Shana's back + quick recap of her last “Corning” timing01:23 – Bitcoin: where it fits (alternative asset, high risk)04:23 – “How should people own it?” ETFs vs cold storage vs exchanges06:27 – Crypto baskets / index-style exposure discussion16:05 – AI broadening out + why breadth matters19:59 – “Do earnings even matter anymore?” whisper numbers + delayed reaction idea26:08 – Wall Street all-bullish sentiment: should that scare you?28:14 – Crude oil setup: technical case vs fundamental pushback33:00 – Tariffs + negotiation “anchoring” framework (how to think about the noise)37:44 – Deepwater drilling + RIG/Valaris reaction40:24 – Wrap + sponsorsFollow along on social media: Twitter:    https://x.com/bob_iaccinoTwitter:   https://x.com/jimiuorioLinkedIn:  https://www.linkedin.com/in/bob-iaccino/LinkedIn:   https://www.linkedin.com/in/james-iuorio/Newsletter:  http://theunfilteredinvestor.com/This episode is sponsored by: Independence Ark: https://www.independenceark.com/Code: F U AmerGold https://www.amergold.com/Code; F U

Parenting dynamics are complicated, to say the very least. Every mother and father will leave wounds on their children, no matter how carefully (or carelessly) they parent. Today I'm sitting down with Melanie Shankle, who was generous enough to share about the wounds left by her mother as well as the healing she's found in raising a daughter of her own. Through her bestselling books and hilarious podcast, Melanie has shared her life with us for nearly two decades—from the frivolous and fun stuff to the hard and the heavy stuff. Her most recent book, Here Be Dragons, was one of the best books I've read in the last year. In true Melanie fashion, this conversation about aging well, relating to young adult kids, and breaking generational cycles is as heavy as it is light. I think you'll enjoy every minute.Show Notes:What we mentioned:Here Be Dragons: Treading the Deep Waters of Motherhood, Mean Girls, and Generational Trauma by Melanie Shankle - https://a.co/d/0giagu3Sparkly Green Earrings: Catching the Light at Every Turn by Melanie Shankle - https://a.co/d/0TMFnLlSongs for the Anxious Heart - https://open.spotify.com/album/6mA22vsD5MvgUPCEPKgjBg?si=vHtRb743RuGHJQKLvAkK0w Scriptures we referenced:James 1:4Isaiah 61:32 Corinthians 1:4Where to find Melanie Shankle:The Big Boo Cast - https://pod.link/262921699@melanieshankle on InstagramAbout Hope Heals:For more messages of hope, free resources, and opportunities to connect with me: https://hopeheals.com/Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hopeheals/Subscribe to The GoodHard Story Podcast!Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/good-hard-story-podcast/id1496882479Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/0OYz6G9Q2tNNVOX9YSdmFb?si=043bd6b10a664bebWant a little hope in your inbox? Sign up for the Hope Note, a monthly digest of only the good stuff, like reflections from me and a curated roundup of the Internet's most redemptive content: http://eepurl.com/gGUnlfGet to know us:Hope Heals: https://hopeheals.com/spacesHope Heals Camp: https://hopeheals.com/campMend Coffee: https://www.mendcoffee.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/hopeheals/

Three years ago travel writer Lydia Gard discovered freediving almost by accident. It's an extreme and beautiful sport defined by one simple objective: to dive as deep as you can on one single breath. Record holders are now routinely diving to more than 120 metres, pushing the sport and their bodies to find out what's humanly possible.Through her coach, Lydia was drawn into a small but fanatical community of competition athletes all united in their drive for depth, and that's where she stumbled on a darker side of the sport. Rumours swirled that a group of top divers were doping to get deeper, faster. As the community began to turn on each other over the allegations, one prominent diver decided to take the law into his own hands. A secret sting operation was meant to put an end to the problem by bringing the alleged dopers out of the dark, and into the light. But the issue hasn't gone away. Description: In this heartfelt episode, Jen and Amy welcome friends, Justin McRoberts and Scott Erickson, to delve into the tender complexities of depression, creativity, and faith. Together, Scott and Justin have built a body of work around the intersection of art, prayer, and healing, including their newest project: In the Low: A Prayerbook for the Seasons of Depression. Today they share personal stories and insights on how art and spirituality can serve as companions through life's most isolating lows.  This episode offers a compassionate perspective on navigating mental health challenges and finding hope in unexpected places. If you've ever found yourself in a season that was super dark or unbearably heavy, this conversation will bring you comfort. Thought-provoking Quotes: “When depression eventually would lift in my life, I noticed that I'd think, ‘Where did this fruit come from? Where did this treasure come from?' It came through going through this process. You might feel void of it when you're in it, you're just trying to get through it or be in it or be functional every day. But there is something happening.” – Scott Erickson “What are the comforting words I need for today? How can my conscious mind provide something for my subconscious and my soul? How can my conscious mind provide some handles for me for this day, for this week, for this moment?” – Justin McRoberts “Your disappointment in the religious systems you've been a part of is a gift and those systems need it. There's something really institutionally beautiful and necessary to whole swaths, thousands and thousands of people sharing the same set of disappointments. Follow that thread.” – Scott Erickson “You aren't wrong to feel the things you are feeling. Life is hard. The machinery is beating the snot out of you. Stay. Please stay long enough to see what might be down there and learn to breathe. My hope is not that you rise to the surface, though I do hope that. My hope is that you learn to breathe at this depth.” – Justin McRoberts Resources Mentioned in This Episode: 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline - https://988lifeline.org/ Nichole Nordeman - https://www.instagram.com/nicholenordeman Prayer: Forty Days of Practice by Scott Erickson and Justin McRoberts - https://amzn.to/4hDMVsM May It Be So: Forty Days with the Lord's Prayer by Scott Erickson and Justin McRoberts - https://amzn.to/3WsKFL5 Honest Advent: Awakening to the Wonder of God-with-Us Then, Here, and Now by Scott Erickson - https://amzn.to/3LeVIFc In the Low: Honest Prayers for Dark Season by Scott Erickson and Justin McRoberts - https://amzn.to/3LaIB87 Lost Connections: Uncovering the Real Causes of Depression - and the Unexpected Solutions by Johann Hari - https://amzn.to/4nsvrAR Matt Haig - https://amzn.to/4o7CTlV Scott Erickson Paints an Honest Picture of an Advent Season of Hope - https://jenhatmaker.com/podcasts/series-64/scott-erickson-paints-an-honest-picture-of-an-advent-season-of-hope/ To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices.
