When T.G. Brown is not writing books, he is a martial arts practitioner and a competitive CrossFit athlete. He practices Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, Boxing and Muay Thai. He competed in the sport of CrossFit, before blowing out his knee in the 2021. Like most Crossfitters, he would do the "CrossFit Open." A nationwide test of fitness that introduces some of the hardest workouts in the world. In 2019, T.G. placed in the top 1 percent of the world, which was not enough to make the famous CrossFit Games, but he was proud of it nonetheless. In 2021, before injuring his knee, T.G. competed in a CrossFit competition involving the fittest Law Enforcement Officers in the world. He was the 29th fittest Law Enforcement Officer in the world that year. T.G. Brown is also a certified Defensive Tactics Instructor for police officers in the state of Oregon. When he is not doing his own training, T.G. works with police officers or civilians who want to learn how to stay alive in verbal, physical, or deadly use-of-force conflicts. TRIBAL HONOR Warren Lawson is an elite Tribal Police Officer on the Jericho Nation Reservation in Oregon. A relatively peaceful place, but that's all about to change. Marvin Bingham is a man with morals that vastly differ from Warren Lawson's. One man loves to kill; the other does everything he can to avoid killing. As Marvin claims another victim, he attracts the attention of two twin Native American brothers who want revenge outside the law, two brothers who happen to be very good at killing. Caught in the middle of three killers, Warren races to keep the peace in his town, a task that grows increasingly difficult as his moral compass is tested unlike ever before. With each twist and turn in the case, Warren contemplates whether the law is worth upholding, or if he is just like the very people he puts behind bars. Buckle in, as a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into something horrific and complex, leaving the Jericho reservation in the wake of a bloody battle. CONNECT WITH TG BROWN! “Spiritual Growth is not necessarily found on a yoga mat, in the dojo, or in a meditation room, it's found in the space between your thoughts, it's found in the space between your decisions, it's found in the still point in the transition between stimulus and response. If I can pause and master those transitions and come to center in those moments and choose something other than what I would have done, that is functional spirituality and growth in all aspects of my life. Now I become player number one, changing the code, changing the game, changing the trajectory, because I am consciously aware of what I used to do, and I am consciously aware of what's happening, and I take a moment to pause, and I choose something different. And that's where that growth starts to happen.”—Harinder SinghThe Fantastic Budo Brothers have stepped in this week to interview me for this episode. For those of you who don't know I will share a little of my background. I am a Martial Artist, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Speaker, Author and High-Performance Coach. I teach elite audiences and organizations "How to Master Their Center and Flow in Chaos”. I specialize in training the trainers and have had the distinct honor of working with Black Belt School Owners, Military, Special Forces, Secret Service, and SWAT Teams. I have shared my programs with over 150 Law Enforcement Agencies, Silicon Valley Business Leaders, and Professional Athletes across the globe. As a profession I teach Jeet Kune Do, Tai Chi, Qi Gong, Wing Chun, and the Filipino Martial Arts. I love Boxing, Wrestling and Savate and hold a Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I am currently a Doctoral Candidate of Chinese Energetic Medicine and was honored to be inducted into the Martial Arts Masters Hall of Fame in 2019.This episode is all about developing accurate perceptive awareness and fostering effective interactions. My key takeaway is that martial arts teaches us so much more than punching, kicking, stabbing, and choking. It teaches us essential skills of how to relax under pressure, slow down our perception of time, expand our awareness, read our opponents, and make conscious choices in chaos. There is no experience that can be disassociated from your relationship to your center. The ability to find your center, move from your center, keep your center under pressure, and recover your center after being knocked off is the key to personal and professional performance. We dive deep into discovering how to know yourself and others, how to cultivate stillness in chaos, and the art of honestly express yourself. We also define mastery, not as a destination but rather as the continuous change and transformation of the being. I truly believe that martial arts are the greatest vehicle to develop our human potential, discover the cause of our ignorance, and unleash our superpowers of creativity, connectivity, and adaptability. A big shout out to the Budo brothers for stepping in as guest interviewers and to all of you my listeners thank you for joining me on this journey.
Here is Dr. Fuller's Bio from his website https://theoldgrayman.com My name is T.C. Fuller. I am originally from California. I grew up in some occasionally rough places, in a shattered family, and was out on my own at 16. I put myself through prep school and college, got a degree and a Regular Army commission as a Second Lieutenant of Infantry, then headed off into the world. After my initial training at Fort Benning, Georgia, with all the “usual” infantry officer schools, I was off to the races. Over the next decade, I served in a variety of jobs. Most notably, I was an mechanized infantry platoon leader in the First Gulf War, then an Explosive Ordnance Disposal company commander twice, first in the Sinai Desert, Egypt as part of the Multinational Force and Observers, then at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After that, I was fortunate enough to be selected as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). I served in various capacities in the FBI, working just about every investigative area in the Bureau's jurisdiction at one time or another during my 20 year career. Lots of street level criminal investigations, several years of counter-terrorism investigations, and even the occasional counter-intelligence case. There were other jobs in the FBI as well, including interrogator in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, time doing all kinds of stuff in Afghanistan, Firearms Instructor (both in the field and at the FBI Academy), Defensive Tactics Instructor, and Congressional Liaison up on Capitol Hill. In my spare time, I added a Master's of Education and a Doctorate of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, as well as publishing a book under a nom de plume. Once I retired, I opened my own firm, doing private investigations, executive protection, and consulting (www.thehorusgroup.net). I have lived and worked in all kinds of places, doing all kinds of things. Importantly, that includes living and working across the U.S. and overseas, including war zones. And I have survived this long not only based on luck, but by being a Gray Man. By passing unnoticed when possible, seeing trouble before it sees me and leaving, escaping trouble when it finds me despite my best efforts, and, when all else has failed, by forcing the issue in my favor.I know what has worked for me, what has allowed me to survive long enough to earn my gray, to become an Old Gray Man. Lurch has been working for LAB part-time for several years while working full-time as a LEO. He retired recently and came to work for LAB full-time as the company's Chief Operations Officer (COO). Lurch worked for the Washington State Patrol (WSP) for just over 25 years. He was unable, in past episodes, to name the agency he worked for and what he did at the agency because of policy. SUPPORT US AND SHOP IN THE OFFICIAL LAW ABIDING BIKER STORE Lurch was hired by the WSP in December of 1995 as a Trooper Cadet. He was assigned to Mansion Security providing protection to the Governor of the State of Washington. He attended the 80th Trooper Basic Training Academy and successfully completed his Field Training in April of 1997. CHECK OUT OUR HUNDREDS OF FREE HELPFUL VIDEOS ON OUR YOUTUBE CHANNEL AND SUBSCRIBE! It was a very bloody January in America for law enforcement. At least 30 cops were shot nationwide. From California to Montana to NYC. It feels like Groundhog Day every day. And in 2022, police are the hottest political chew toy in America. A space previously reserved for troops and vets. In a powerful new #IndependentAmericans, we dig into it. Hard. With a guest who's been on all sides of the issues. We look deeper, we look with experience, and we look for solutions. Beyond the partisanship and spin.No matter where you stand, or how you feel, it'll help you #StayVigilant. And help you shoot straight. Our guest is a leader to help us do it. He's a guy who literally trains people to shoot straight. JW CORTÉS (@JWCortes) is a combat veteran turned actor, singer, non-profit leader, cop and activist. He's a 17 year veteran of the NY State MTA Police Department. He is also a “Principled Policing” Instructor, Firearms Instructor, a Defensive Tactics Instructor and an Active Shooter Instructor. But he's also much more. He's an important, iconic and inspiring leader that's shaping what America will be. He was the first actor to portray the DC comic book character "Detective Carlos Alvarez'' on FOX's primetime hit series GOTHAM. He's acted in a range of other roles on POWER, The Blacklist, Blue Bloods and the NBC reality series Stars Earn Stripes alongside the American Sniper Chris Kyle and most recently, a recent cameo in a Jennifer Lopez music video. And he joined country music superstar Kane Brown to sing on a remix of Kane's hit record "Homesick." President of The Detective Rafael Ramos Foundation, JW serves as an advisory board member for the Gary Sinise Foundation, the Semper Fi Fund and was appointed by the NYC Mayor's Office Of Media and Entertainment to the Latin Media and Entertainment Commission as well as to the Corporate Advisory Board of the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of NJ. I met Trey Gethoefer on a Sunday at Starbucks when my girlfriends and I used to meet for Sunday afternoon tea/coffee. I had recently made a decision to thank police officers, when it was safe and appropriate to do so, for their service. In my naiveté and/or optimism thought if I show gratitude for their roles in the community, it may be helpful to them and be a positive chain reaction so that if they're faced with the decision to pull the trigger and/or make a split decision, they will know that they do have the support of community. William (Trey) Gethoefer has been a member of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) for almost eighteen years. He has worked as a patrol officer, Field Training Officer, Gang Detective and Vice Detective. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2009. Trey served as a patrol sergeant for six years and has spent the last three years as a Detective Sergeant in Patrol Investigations. As part of his formal education, Trey obtained an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice as well as a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. His first six years on this agency were spent in patrol. During his time in patrol, he spent time as both a Field Training Officer and member of the Mobile Crime Saturation Team. After six years in patrol, he became a detective in the Gang Crimes Bureau (GCB). Trey spent almost three years in that detail. After his stint in GCB, he transferred to the Vice Unit. He spent almost a year and a half in Vice before being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2009. He has served this agency in several capacities since hiring on in 2000. He has served as a Defensive Tactics Instructor, Taser X-26 Instructor and a peer member of the Use of Force Review Board. Trey is originally from Buffalo, NY and he moved to Las Vegas in 2000 just to become a member of the LVMPD.
