"SaaS as we know it is DEAD." This might sound controversial, but as Manav Garg explains, the old model of simple workflow automation is being rapidly superseded. AI agents are now capable of executing complex tasks based on simple commands, fundamentally changing how businesses operate and what they expect from technology. Manav Garg is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of Together Fund, an operator-led VC firm managing over $250M AUM and backing ambitious early-stage Indian SaaS and AI startups. Before this, he founded Eka Software Solutions in 2004, building it over nearly two decades into a global leader in commodity management software. He scaled Eka to $34 million in revenue with $9 million in profit by 2014, raised over $55 million, navigated a complex pivot to the cloud, and ultimately exited the company. He is also a co-founder of SaaSBOOMi, Asia's largest SaaS community, and is passionate about building India as a Product Nation. Key Insights from the Conversation:
Normalizing Non-Monogamy - Interviews in Polyamory and Swinging
Eka is back! We first talked to her about two and a half years ago on episode 255 when she was just about to have her first child. She's in her mid-thirties and has been exploring non-monogamy in a variety of ways since about 2012. Since we last spoke, Eka and her partner Em had baby Elle and it's been an adventurous few years! Today Eka shares how having a newborn (and now a toddler) has impacted her life, her relationships, and her sexuality. She's been exploring her sexuality, demisexuality, kink, and multiple connections and partnerships all while figuring out how to be a new mom! There's never a dull moment and we absolutely love when we get to talk to Eka and hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did! Check out the full show notes here.
A bunch of startups are not entering the booming Indian e-bus ecosystem and becoming overnight successes. Just take the case of EKA mobility. Before 2023, EKA was barely a company. It was more the R&D wing of Pinnacle Industries, which is a major manufacturer of seating and interiors for legacy automakers like Tata Motors and Ashok Leyland. But when the government launched the PM E-Drive subsidy back in September, everything changed for Eka Mobility. The five-year-old startup turned into a full-fledged EV manufacturer. Eka Mobility is one among many beneficiaries of the EV wave here in India. But naturally, it does not come without its challenges. Which is why, despite India's e-bus ambitions slowly gaining momentum thanks to government funding, the private sector has barely put its foot on the pedal. Tune in.
I have been an entrepreneur from 2012-2017 building two products AddoDoc and Babygogo. After selling my company to SHEROES, I and my partner Nansi decided to start up again. But we felt unequipped in our skillset in 2018 to build a large company. We had known 0-1 journeys from our startups but lacked the experience of building 1-10 journeys. Hence was born The Neon Show (Earlier 100x Entrepreneur) to learn from founders and investors, the mindset to scale yourself and your company. This quest still keeps us excited even after 5 years and doing 200+ episodes. We welcome you to our journey to understand what goes behind building a super successful company. Every episode is done with a very selfish motive, that I and Nansi should come out as a better entrepreneur and professional after absorbing the learnings. ___________________________________Visit our Website: https://neon.fund/Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theneonshoww/Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheNeonShowwFollow us on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/beneon/___________________________________*Sponsor Shout Out*Looking to build a differentiated tech startup with a 10X better solution?

“As I said, I am from a middle-class family. I was earning $10,000/month, which is a large sum in those days. And sitting in Singapore, Bangkok, travelling around the world. So my the larger question in my mind is that how do I take the decision?” says Manav Garg.Manav Garg, founder and former CEO of Eka Software, a SaaS company that operates in the global commodities trading space. "Former CEO" because Manav started Eka in 2004 and just sold it earlier this year. Since Manav was earning $10K a month back in the early 2000s, we talked about golden handcuffs. You know, when people earn so much that they become risk averse? A lot of people are attracted to the lure of startups but not necessarily the grind that comes with them. Including much, much lower pay. “So, my competition was TriplePoint, Openlink, SAP. Large companies, at that time. $100 million plus companies. So, I started calling them. Cold calling. And few of them didn't pick up my phone. One person luckily picked up my phone saying, ‘Please don't call me again and again. It's not nice. I'm never going to work for Indian company.' I said, ‘Fine. Since I have you on phone, can I meet you?'He said, ‘No.'He said, ‘No. What will you do by meeting me?' I said, ‘Let's have coffee. What I will do is, tell me your travel schedule.' He said, ‘I am flying to London tomorrow, so I am going to be very busy.' I said, ‘Okay, let me do one thing. I will travel to London next day and I will meet you at Heathrow. Just have a coffee. You anyway will take a shower.' Most of the people from New York travel to London that red-eye flight, take a shower in the arrival launch. I knew that. I said, ‘I will meet in the arrival launch. Half an hour coffee and then you are free to go.'He said, ‘Fine.'Luckily, he said, ‘Fine.'” It takes a LOT of courage to fly to London to meet someone who said he doesn't want to work for an Indian company. And a LOT of vision to convince that person to join you. That's what happened at the end of that 30-minute meeting that stretched to 2 hours. Today, after 20 years as founder, Manav has jumped right back into the ring as the co-founder of venture capital firm TogetherFund, along with Girish Mathrubootham of Freshworks and others. When I asked him about something most potential founders overlooked, his answer was easy: Co-founder selection. “See, in India also, still we have in that cultural mix, where you start up with your college friends because you spend time in dorms together, in college, you went through life's ups and downs together, right? So, therefore, you're very attuned to start up with your friends from college, most likely, that's the most likely case, or from your workplace. You work with somebody in Amazon, Flipkart, Freshworks, Eka, Zoho, so therefore you end up starting up.I personally think that there is also a way to manufacture your co-founders.” Manav advises founders to set aside at least 6 months to “manufacture” their co-founders by just meeting a LOT of people. My conversation with Manav uncovers a lot of insight on how young founders should think about building for the long haul. He did it for 20 years. There's a lot of very counterintuitive builder wisdom to unpack in today's conversation.Welcome to First Principles–The weekly leadership podcast from The Ken.Let's get started.-------------------------Daybreak is now a daily podcast.Listen to the first special episode we released on 17th May: “Why aren't we scared of chemicals in our skincare anymore?”-------------------------If you love listening to First Principles, we're sure you will enjoy reading our Sunday newsletter, aptly titled First Principles as well. For Eka Lakhani, fashion is a medium for communicating stories. This finds its roots in her experience as a costume designer for films and web series. But it also translates to her role as a stylist, in the looks she curates for the actors she works with. In this first episode of Backstage with BTB, we dive deep into both her work as a costume designer and stylist (1:12) and how she started her styling company Team E (11:11). She speaks about the demands of the job and the need to slow down (14:33) and finally, we move into our signature Blur the Border segment, where Eka and Surbhi discuss the growth of homegrown labels (20:55), and what's to come as Indian fashion takes the stage globally (26:45). We have new episodes for you each week. Follow this show to stay updated when a new episode drops. Thanks for listening! For more visit https://blurtheborder.com/ Hosted on Acast. Tässä jaksossa kerron, mitä teen kollegoideni kanssa. Ja poikkeuksellisesti tuossa alla on koko podcast-jakson melkein täydellinen käsikirjoitus! Tästä voi olla sinulle hyötyä: https://randomfinnishlesson.blogspot.com/2015/03/spoken-language-tips.html P.S. Tervetuloa hiljaiselle aamukurssille toukokuussa.

Should purpose ever give way to responsibility? Most of us are aware of a higher purpose for our life, or at the very least on the search for a deeper meaning. Whether it is through our art, our health, finding love, joy, or hope; purpose is what keeps us moving forward and even gets us through challenging times. But how do you balance the responsibilities of life with the greater search for meaning? This week's conversation with Eka Darville was one of my favorites. As an actor, Eka is no stranger to the work and dedication it takes to find success in Hollywood. As a husband and a father of three young boys, he is also no stranger to the beautiful responsibilities that life can throw our way and how they can intersect with our personal goals and dreams. It's time that I revealed my true identity: I am an agent for the Greater Seattle Bureau of Fearless Ideas. Oh--you're not familiar with the Bureau? Well that's okay, because you're about to learn all about them and the amazing work that they do in this BFI mega episode! It features seven stories, some of them from a Tiny Histories workshop with BFI students, and some of them from BFI's grownup leaders. You'll travel from Seattle to Thailand and Ethiopia and back again. You'll learn about religions and cultures, and encounter Robert Frost and a significant penguin. There are fireworks, road trips with a dog named Blue, and a mysterious locket washed up on the shore by the sea. And best of all, you'll meet this community of creative, kind, and fearless people.Storytellers include BFI students, Judah, Rahma, and Eka and BFI staffers, Faith Eakin, Chris Robinson, and Bryan Wilson.
