Another show in the books, great to have Kayla back.
Sleepless nights aren't just exhausting; they can make every text from an ex, every budget decision, and every co‑parenting handoff feel harder than it needs to be. I dig into why stress and rumination hijack your rest during divorce and how cortisol and adrenaline surge right when you want to drift off. Then I'll shift to practical, evidence‑informed tools that restore a sense of safety in your body so falling asleep and staying asleep becomes more likely. I walk you through 6 steps to help you create the perfect environment for a good night's sleep during stressful situations from that take care of your inside (think nervous system regulation) to your outside (think bedroom ambiance). You'll also learn a compassionate approach to midnight wake-ups. The aim isn't perfection; it's a realistic 10% improvement that compounds into calmer days, a more regulated nervous system, better emotional resilience, and more energy for parenting, work, and healing. If you're ready to trade 2 a.m. panic cycles for a plan you can use tonight, this conversation offers clear steps and steady encouragement. To download your FREE GUIDE: "7-Day Self Trust Reset" click here. Hvilket track hører "Can You Take Me Back" til?

Your body cools down naturally before sleep, and even a one-degree difference in temperature helps determine how quickly you fall asleep and how deeply you rest Exposing one foot from under the blanket helps your body release heat more efficiently, triggering your brain's sleep signal and promoting faster, deeper sleep A large study published in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine found that people with steady 24-hour skin temperature rhythms enjoyed longer, more restorative sleep and better daytime alertness Keeping your bedroom cool, dark, and consistent with your body's natural temperature rhythm supports melatonin release and stabilizes your circadian clock Simple strategies — like cooling your room, using breathable bedding, and developing a nightly wind-down routine — help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and wake feeling more refreshed

Bryan Carter is a Grammy and Tony Award-winning drummer, vocalist, composer, arranger, orchestrator, and bandleader. After completing his training at The Juilliard School, Carter played with legendary artists including McCoy Tyner, Wynton Marsalis, Kenny Barron, and Kurt Elling. In addition to working in the worlds of film, television, and Broadway, Bryan founded "Jazz at Pride," a non-profit organization dedicated to curating performances and educational engagements featuring world-class artists from the LGBTQIA+ community. Bryan most recently served as co-orchestrator for Broadway's “Some Like It Hot,” for which he and his co-orchestrator Charlie Rosen made history as the first orchestrators to sweep all three major awards in a single season: the 76th Annual Tony Awards for Best Orchestrations, the Outer Critics Circle Awards, and the Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Orchestrations. Rosen and Carter continued their streak of success at the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards, winning the title of Best Musical Theater Album as producers on the recording. In the fall of 2024, Bryan premiered “Rustin in Renaissance,” a seven-movement oratorio on the life of civil-rights pioneer Bayard Rustin. The premiere was held at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Appel Room and coincided with the 20th anniversary of “The House of Swing.” In this episode, Bryan talks about: Playing multiple instruments and musical roles since early childhood His orchestration role on “Some Like It Hot” that garnered him a Tony and a Grammy His experience at Julliard, and feeling like the curriculum put him in too small a box Looking around for “who was hiring” in New York and what that looks like on that scene The New York tradition of older established artists seeking out younger musicians and giving them a platform Writing and playing for George Clooney's Broadway production of “Good Night and Good Luck” How using piano for composition has made him think of drumming from an arrangement standpoint Welcoming how different performers offer different interpretations of what he writes Here's our Patreon Here's our Youtube Here's our Homepage

When it comes to authoritarian regimes- or those aspiring to be- a free and independent press can be its worst enemy. Fake news, Lugenpresse. "Liberal bias." Those are just some of the ways they can be discredited by leaders with a fetish for dictatorships. In this episode in our "Fascism in Cinema" episode, listen as myself and the Editor in Chief at In Their Own League, Joan Amenn, discuss what a free press means, and why it matters now more than ever. We bring up more films than these, but our discussion focuses on Alan J. Pakula's "All the President's Men", George Clooney's "Good Night, and Good Luck", and Tom McCarthy's "Spotlight". I hope you enjoy!

Who is texting "Goodnight"?
We were so excited (though we kept it subdued) to meet the hilarious Wendi McLendon-Covey from Reno 911!, St Denis Medical, Bridesmaids, and Barb & Star Go To Vista Del Mar. Wendi enjoys going to concerts and says it gives her the same satisfaction as travel but it's shorter and cheaper. You'll find that listening to Wendi talk about concerts is like traveling or going to a concert yourself but with the added benefit of not leaving your comfy bed and knocking out a GNS yourself. GNS stands for Good Night's Sleep and it's an acronym we're going to use some more. We hear about some of Wendi's favorite shows, including George Michael at his ripped jeans and leather jacket finest. Best of all, Wendi very much understood the assignment of our show and uses her most soothing voice so your trip to a GNS is assured.Watch the second season of St. Denis Medical on Peacock or on your local NBC station.Hey Sleepy Heads, is there anyone whose voice you'd like to drift off to, or do you have suggestions on things we could do to aid your slumber?Email us at: sleepwithcelebs@maximumfun.org.Follow the Show on:Instagram @sleepwcelebsBluesky @sleepwithcelebsTikTok @SleepWithCelebsJohn is on Bluesky @JohnMoeJohn's acclaimed, best-selling memoir, The Hilarious World of Depression, is now available in paperback._________________________________________________________________________Join | Maximum FunIf you like one or more shows on MaxFun, and you value independent artists being able to do their thing, you're the perfect person to become a MaxFun monthly member.
