It was a dark, snowy night and there was fresh snow on the ground the night before. They saw that the car had run into an embankment, and that the driver's door was open, as they approached the car, they realized that the car was still running. Next to the car, in a ditch, was the body of a young woman, 19 year old Rhonda Hinson. She was lying on her back with her arms by her side. She looked peaceful like she had been starting to make a snow angel - except for the bullet hole in her chest. When it comes to my own worldview and journey in theology and the Bible, this was a question to settle on an answer for: Did Jesus die for every person who ever lived, or only for the elect? And then there were the follow-up questions: If Jesus died for the everyone, ever, then why weren't their sins paid for? Why do they still go to Hell? And if Jesus died for a "category" of people (and we join that category through deciding to have faith), then can I ever really say that "Jesus died for me?" This is where the heart of the difference lies between Roman Catholics and Reformed Protestants on this issue: the Reformed can say "Jesus Christ loved me and gave himself for me" (Galatians 2:20). He discusses some of the interesting subjects that The book contains in its 50 chapters. The underlining theme is the bold assertion the the hidden grammar of Protestantism is Satanism. In various ways in this discussion Dr. Jones attempts to prove his thesis. One aspect of this Satanism is what Dr. Jones assumes to be John Calvins heretical notion of total depravity. That man is basically evil even to the point of evil that the Church Fathers never taught. That discussion was not developed here. But what was developed was how Thomas Paine quotes Satan in Milton's poem: Paradise Lost. The American experiment in self government Dr. Jones points out get much of its foundation in Satan's speech for self-government. Satan says: "Better to reign in Hell, than serve in Heaven" in Book 1 (line 263) of Paradise Lost. In the pamphlet wars between the American Patriots and the British of 1775 and 1776 John Fletcher defended John Wesley's harsh critique of the Patriots. Fletcher did indeed suggest that the patriots doctrines were the same as Satan as articulated in his speech in Paradise Lost. For example the Patriots declared that they were not to be subject to the King but rather the King should be subject to them. Likewise in all the Biblical relationships. The Reframe: With the advent of railways, trains started serving lobster to inland passengers who didn't know its "low-class" reputation. It was marketed as an exotic, rare curiosity from the sea. The Result: By rebranding the abundance as "exoticness" and serving it with butter on fine china, it became one of the most expensive items on a menu.   When you stand in heaven and see Jesus, see the Father, see those that are saved and see those that are lost in Hell…. How will that reframe how you understand life on earth? Wouldn't it be wise to see that way now?
