Listen to the podcast and grasp the lessons.  The popularity of podcasting has been growing rapidly in recent years. Whether you are currently a podcaster or planning to become one, Alitu.com will come in handy. This efficient tool is ideal for podcasters who want to achieve excellent sound without being audio experts.   Alitu allows you to automate complex audio aspects and features user-friendly drag and drop components to facilitate easy editing. Listen to Colin Gray in this podcast as he tells Geordie more about Alitu.   What You’ll Learn  What does Alitu do for its clients?  How did Colin navigate the startup during its earlier stages?  How Colin came up with the idea of an automated podcaster maker  Importance of content as a marketing concept  Why has Colin and his team maintained the same pricing package since they launched?   How did Colin acquire customers when they first launched?  Importance of affiliate marketing  How Colin and his team identifies affiliates and their revenue share  How is the conversion rate on Alitu from affiliates?  How did the pandemic affect Colin and his team?  In this Episode:   Content is powerful, and Colin demonstrates this when he mentions that Alitu grew from the content they produced. Together with his team, they started writing blog posts to teach their readers how the platform worked and how they could create an excellent podcast. They would later venture into assisting people in creating podcasts on their own before developing the software.   Colin ventured into podcasting through education. He tells Geordie that he was a trainer of lecturers in learning technology at the university for nearly six years. His main goal was to ensure that lecturers understood how to leverage technology to aid their students.   Podcasting was one of the popular technologies then, and Colin’s team encouraged him to consider it. He would later love everything about it and incorporate it into his curriculum at the university. At the same time, he documented what he was learning on his blog, giving birth to the host.com podcast. Colin admits that podcasting back in the day was not as smooth as it is today.   Find out his reasons from the podcast. Editing can be a time-consuming procedure that many people detest. Colin explains how the idea of starting Alitu.com crossed his mind, and you can find the details from the podcast.   Colin says that he spent an entire year developing a plan for his primary business. He also focused on other aspects like content, agency, and affiliate. While Colin had a robust plan for the software at the end of the year, he was yet to start the development stages.   At some point, he applied for funding to support his MVP, which he got and indulged in building the software. Still, Colin says he had to pay a third of the initial MVP cost and explain how he budgeted for the funding. Listen to the podcast to learn.   Colin and his team got some regular clients from the MVP but continued growing content, which he says was their main income. Colin explains this concept further, which you can learn about from the podcast.   What were the components of the MVP? Colin gives a comprehensive explanation of his MVP and the tools behind it, which you can only learn about by listening to the podcast. He says working on the MVP was not only exciting, but it also exposed him to coding even though he had no prior coding experience.   Colin talks about how the MVP operates, and you can get all the details from the podcast. Platforms evolve with time and based on client needs. Sometimes clients may request specific features. How do Colin and his team handle such a situation? He answers this question in the podcast.   According to Colin, most of their traffic was going to their blog, but they worked a way to direct it to the podcast. Find out how they did it from the podcast.   At some point, Colin and his team experienced a surge in traffic on Alitu, and after that, they started growing tremendously. He explains the strategy they used. Every entrepreneur or marketing professional cannot miss the details in this part of the podcast.   Colin highlights the months of November and December 2019 as the moment when they experienced their big break. There were multiple signups, and their client base grew in the first three months of 2020.   He mentions that they are considering introducing higher pricing tiers soon. In conclusion, Colin says that podcasting is an excellent way of selling products because it develops trust among clients and entrepreneurs.  Resources  Alitu.com   The Podcast Host  Colin Gray LinkedIn

Marketing is all about using the right tools to reach your ideal customer. But when your ideal customer is transient, unemployed and has no transportation — what tools do you use then? This week Garrett and David sat down with Colin Jeffries, fellow podcaster at Take5 and Director of Marketing & Communications at addiction recovery center BrightView. Colin talked about the unique challenge he faced in connecting to a vulnerable, hard-to-reach population, and we discussed how he came up with some outside-the-box solutions to meet that challenge.  What we covered: - Why marketing can’t — and shouldn’t — be confined to a single department within an organization - How BrightView used customer service to increase patient retention and recovery, differentiating itself in an industry notorious for bad customer service - The debunked myth that helped BrightView start focusing on a different audience than their competitors  - How Colin used patient feedback and focus groups to create a more effective message - Why geofencing played a significant role in communicating that message to BrightView’s target audience

This month there has been a general trend of discussing relationships. I think relationships are the most important things we could ever invest our time and energy into as we are literally in relationship with everything, from being in a relationship with yourself, your partner, your friends, and your family to your work or business and the entire world around you. How can we cultivate deeper relationships? How can develop relationships that last?   In this episode of the Align Podcast, I'm joined by Colin Guinn and Christie Woods who have been together for almost 20 years, and to me, that is beyond fascinating. They discuss why we need to take conscious responsibility, be aware of our ego, say yes to growth with our partner, and give our partner permission to be human. Plus, we touch on the topics of tantra, sex magic, psychedelics, and relationship plateaus.   Colin and Christie are dear friends of mine, although you may know the two from winning Season 31 of The Amazing Race. Colin is a serial entrepreneur, innovator, and pioneer in drone development and technology and Christie is an actress, model, Ms. Texas, breathwork facilitator, and a complete badass.    What we discuss:   [00:00:23] How Colin defines his specialty [00:04:50] Why you need to vibrate as close to love as possible [00:06:05] The different stages in Colin and Kristi's relationship throughout the past 19 years [00:10:30] Taking conscious responsibility in your relationship [00:12:33] Becoming aware of your ego and saying yes to growth and expansion together [00:14:43] Tantra sexuality [00:17:18] Using sex as a modality for raising the vibration [00:18:50] Sex magic [00:20:53] Giving your partner permission to be human [00:26:20] The practices Kristi and Colin do to understand how each one of them are growing [00:27:29] Relationship plateaus [00:34:12] The difference between the first 12 years of Kristi and Colin relationship to where they are now [00:36:40] Why there is no spiritual bypassing in Kristi and Colin relationship [00:41:29] Childhood traumas that reflect in the present [00:44:55] Colin's perception of energy, vibration, and humanness [01:01:11] Use of psychedelics as a tool of expansion of the mind vs. abusive use [01:02:23] Colin's take on how to start using psychedelics   Find more from Colin and Christie:   Instagram: @colinguinn | @christiewoods1

Happy Earth Day, Champions! “If you like puns, sleeping and sustainability, potentially even in that order – Sheets and Giggles is the brand for you!” A perfect way to introduce this guest and his company! Today, I speak with Colin McIntosh, Founder and CEO of Sheets and Giggles (and, yes that’s a pun), and #Champion of Sleeping Sustainably. Sheets and Giggles makes sustainable, 400-thread count sateen bed sheets out of Eucalyptus trees, which don’t use insecticides or pesticides. Compared with cotton, the production of their eucalyptus lyocell requires 96% less water and 30 % less energy! And if those numbers aren’t compelling enough, their sales pitch is simple: “Our Eucalyptus Lyocell sheets are softer, more breathable, and more sustainable than both cotton and bamboo.” And they’re bed serious. My guest today is doing great things in the field of education. I’ve come across his work in the gifted and twice exceptional circles, and I knew he would be a valuable guest on the show. I’m happy to have connected with him around his work in teaching critical thinking skills. Colin Seale was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where struggles in his upbringing gave birth to his passion for educational equity. Tracked early into talented and gifted programs, Colin was afforded opportunities his neighborhood peers were not. Colin uses lessons from his experience as a math teacher, later as an attorney, and now a keynote speaker, along with his work as a contributor to Forbes, The 74, and Education Post. He’s the author of Thinking Like a Lawyer: A Framework for Teaching Critical Thinking Skills to All Students. Colin founded thinkLaw, a multi-award-winning organization to help educators leverage inquiry-based educational instruction and strategies to close the critical thinking gap and ensure that they teach and reach all students, regardless of race, zip code, or what side of the poverty line they are born into. When he’s not serving as the world’s most fervent critical thinking advocate, Colin proudly serves as the world’s greatest entertainer to his two young children, and as a loving husband to his wife, Carrie. Show Highlights: Why Colin is intensely passionate about wanting to fix things for people and help them find solutions Colin’s personal brand of intensity revolves around his strategy about “how we get there” regarding critical thinking In his growing up years, Colin heard many “he’s gifted, but” statements, but not many “he’s gifted, and” statements How Colin was labeled for his intense behaviors instead of being supported How we’ve created a culture where conformity is the expectation, but many kids don’t fit these standards Cultural factors around Colin’s intensity include his family heritage of Caribbean immigrants from Barbados and their British tendencies, which teach passivity and non-confrontation The urge and commitment to end generational poverty through education How Colin had to tone down and tune himself out in third grade when he was labeled as “extra” How Colin dealt with setbacks and disappointments by overcompensating Why Colin is committed to galvanizing educators to run on “high” and equipping them with the “how” of helping kids unlock their critical thinking potential Colin’s book is available for pre-order now on Amazon; it comes out on April 30 How Colin helps harness the power of his intensity by learning to be authentic within himself The importance of giving people permission and courage to be who they are The need to be intentional in helping kids learn entrepreneurship and innovation Colin’s professional and personal habits in using his fire for good include weekly one-hour innovation meetings with his team and taking a moment to press “pause” for times of creativity and innovation How Colin helps others stop focusing on what they want to do, but on how they want their professional lives to look, feel, and be managed Parting words from Colin: “We shouldn’t talk about an ADHD diagnosis or being intense or extra as a defect. If we could transition in education from thinking about what’s best for ALL kids to thinking about what’s best for EACH kid, then we can help each child achieve excellence, however that is defined for them.” Resources: Think Law The latest Embracing Intensity workbook on Balancing Your Time and Energy is available in the Embracing Intensity Community. On today’s episode of Just the Tips, Colin Hogan, the managing director of Demo Duck, joins us to talk all things video production. Video is one of those things that every company wants to have, but few know how to make. On this week’s episode, we talk with Colin about what sorts of video a company should use for different purposes, how a production company works with a business to tell their story, and whether we’ll ever see the commercials Colin shot as a kid. What types of video should you do? Business owners know they should do video, they know they want to do video, but they’re not quite sure what video they should make. There are a billion types of videos you can do, so which one should you choose? Colin says businesses typically go for explainer videos first. Those videos do a great job of establishing your authority on a subject, and because it’s in your area of expertise, you’re not stretching too far to come up with a topic for the video. But there are loads of other types you can consider, and that companies like Demo Duck can help you make. So what makes a great explainer video? You’ve probably seen some great explainer videos you’ve learned a lot from, and you’ve definitely seen ones with roughly zero information. Colin says the key to a good explainer video is to be concise. Know what you want to say, present it directly, and avoid any sort of jargon or insider language. Know what your ideal viewer might be interested in, what problem you’re solving for them, and then go from there. When to make a video yourself You can hire a company to help you produce a video, or you can even just turn on your phone and go live on Facebook. But when should you do the latter, and when should you do the former? There’s no quick-and-easy answer, but a lot of times it has to do with your revenue. If you’re just starting out, you may want to do it yourself. But if you have a little bit of a marketing budget and you have a message you know you want to get out there, Colin says it’s worth the investment to have a professional production company make that video for you. How to get the most out of your explainer video So you make an explainer video. Now what? Colin actually recommends making several videos out of the one that you’ve written. In other words, say you make a 90-second explainer video. Then you want to share that on Twitter or Instagram. It’s best to budget in shorter clip versions of that video for your various social media platforms. That means you may have to re-script some things, but it’s worth it to make sure the video you’ve made aligns with the correct platform.  Outline of This Episode [3:28] How Colin got into video [4:30] Why sales is actually great [8:02] What sorts of video work for what  [10:00] What makes a great explainer video?  [12:40] Stay jargon-free [17:04] You shouldn’t have to convince someone to buy [18:30] Is there a bottom threshold in terms of production value [23:32] Where do explainer videos live? Today’s guest is Colin Fausnaught, the founder of Zuck Bucks. He is a recent graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and worked on JP Morgan’s Quorum blockchain for his senior project.  Colin begins by giving an overview of issues that Facebook has come under fire for this year. He believes that political advertising practices on the social network are being taken advantage of by malicious parties. This brings up Facebook’s announcement of their own cryptocurrency, Libra. Colin gives his thoughts on what this cryptocurrency can do for Facebook and why so many large companies are involved. Facebook will have all private keys to Libra wallets, and Colin describes why he finds this so scary. Colin created Zuck Bucks originally as a joke targeting the new Facebook cryptocurrency but now says that it has a great community movement behind it. He does think that a few positive outcomes may happen because of Libra, but affirms that the crypto space will probably be worse off because of the announcement. Some tips are given by Colin about how to protect your privacy while browsing the internet and regarding cryptocurrency.  He also gives advice about starting out with cryptocurrency and discusses various exchanges.  Topics covered: - How Colin first discovered cryptocurrency. - Privacy concerns regarding Facebook and its advertising. - Why Facebook is launching their own cryptocurrency. - The target market of Libra and why Facebook has chosen this demographic. - An explanation of private keys and Facebook’s controlling of them. - How Colin came up with Zuck Bucks. - The community of Zuck Bucks opposing Facebook and its privacy concerns. - Potential positives of Facebook’s crypto announcement. - Mark Zuckerberg’s feud with the Winklevoss twins. - Serving ads through artificial intelligence. - Advantages of using a hardware wallet to store cryptocurrency. - Colin’s recommendations for getting involved with cryptocurrency.  Links to Resources: Zuck Bucks: https://zuckbucks.cash/ Email Colin: info@zuckbucks.cash Zuck Bucks on Twitter: https://twitter.com/ZuckbucksToken

Are you one of the many people mesmerized by beautiful lettering? Even if art and design aren’t your thing, you’ve probably seen Instagram photos or Facebook posts that feature amazing, stylistic handwriting, and you may have wondered, “How do they DO that?” Today’s show is about two people who have turned their passion for lettering into a business that teaches even the most skeptical letterer how to create something beautiful with basic markers and paper.    Colin Tierney is the Chief Execraytive Officer and the guy behind Crayligraphy. He runs Tierney Studio, an independent design company specializing in lettering, calligraphy, illustration, and branding. Colin has worked with clients from all over the world, and his work has been published in several books, featured on the web, and recognized and awarded around the globe.    Veronica Ruiz is an Educraytor and lettering artist based in Denver, CO. Drawing letters has been her passion since she was first exposed to the wonder of typography in her graphic design classes at the University of Central Florida. Veronica loves sharing everything she’s learned in her lettering journey with others through her Instagram and blog.   How Crayligraphy began   You are probably wondering, “What is Crayligraphy?” Colin explains it simply as “the art of stylistically writing with a marker.” You don’t have to look far to find it, feel its hypnotic power, and realize its popularity. From a blog that he started about 10 years ago to document his progress in learning hand lettering and calligraphy, he progressed to Instagram posts, tutorials, and workshops that feature what he calls, “Crazy Crayola Calligraphy”---”Crayligraphy.” The feedback he received led to requests to teach others his craft, so he started teaching and doing workshops. Now he has a website and a huge demand from people who want to learn from him, so there are Crayligraphy workshops all over the country, along with his trained team of “Crayligraphers,” like Veronica who hosts workshops in their cities. TWEET: Crayligraphy is the art of stylistically writing with a marker.” @crayligraphy #chasingdreams The creative community If you’ve ever undertaken a creative endeavor, then you know the hesitancy most people feel in sharing their work. Colin and Veronica say that this is an important step in your journey because everyone starts out at the beginning. This community as supportive and focused on helping people improve. Crayligraphy supplies are affordable, and anyone can learn to do it well----with practice. Never be ashamed to let others see your work! TWEET: “ Never be ashamed to let others see your work!” @crayligraphy #chasingdreams Next on the agenda What’s up next for Crayligraphy? The plan is to keep holding workshops all over the country but to expand to online courses to open the accessibility to everyone around the world. Colin and Veronica see Crayligraphy expanding into other creative endeavors also, with a book and their own special markers coming in the not-too-distant future! They emphasize that anyone can learn this art form with consistent practice of a mere 20 minutes/day, and an art and design background is NOT required! Colin McCourt is a middle distance runner from Great Britain who competed at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and was striving to attend the Olympics in 2012.  But he didn’t make the team.  And stepped away from running at age 27.  He never told anyone, just stepped away and got a job. Over time, he gained weight.  He wasn’t in the best of head space.  He got married and had a son.  And came to realize that if he didn’t make some changes he would not be able to do all the things he wanted to do with his son, simple things like playing in the park. Colin and I discuss how seeing an old photo of himself running caused him to rethink how he was living his life.  His first run was horrific to him.  After posting an up to date photo, his friends proposed a bet, one that changed his life.  He regained control of his life by reintroducing some structure in his life in by way of changing to a diet that better supported his running goals, building consistency in terms of running by insisting to himself that he just get out the door and run.  No watch, just run, each day a bit more than the day before.  Run to time and how you feel.  Can we say #nowatchme? This episode is a big longer than usual but Colin and I were discussing such important concepts that I know it was so wonderful that he agreed that we could keep going.  Colin and I are so much on the same wavelength when it comes to being real and I know you will enjoy it.  I am sure you as well will find the investment worth the listen. Today’s Guest Colin McCourt hit the headlines for a bet he was undertaking. Having ballooned to 94 kg (207 lbs) after retiring from athletics, he stood to win money on a bet with friends if he could finish a 5k in under 16 minutes in 2017. If he failed, he had to have the names of seventeen of his friends tattooed onto his back. He finished the race in 15:38 thus beating the bet significantly. What you will learn about: How Colin dropped out of running, got a job, and substituted working too hard and eating too much for the discipline of professional running How posting a photo of himself resulted in friends “helping” him meet his goal by challenging him to run a 5k in under 16 minutes or forever live with their names tattooed on his body How there is nothing wrong with heading out, taking whatever time you need for your run, stopping to take photos, embrace the scenery.  Remember what you were like as a kid.  How you should forget all the technical mumbo jumbo and just run. How Colin reintroduced balance in his life across all the facets of his life from home to work to fitness How posting and being real on social media helped him achieve his goals and inspire others to know they can do it too.  Life isn’t all just perfect and we need to all remember that bad days happen to everyone, even though they don’t talk about it How to win most of the little battles every day. And not worry about the small ones that you miss but can tackle the next day.   Inspirational Quotes: If you miss a deadline at work, it isn’t as if someone is going to die. My friends knew I was stupid enough to agree to a bet like that.  If I say I am going to do it, I commit to do it. Just Run.  Consistency is key.  Enjoy what you are doing. Most days it is critical to just get out there and do it, even if you don’t want to. But it is also critical to know when it important to listen to your body. With Strava and watches you can get too caught up in the times rather than how you are feeling and adapting each day.  I put exactly how I feel on the run in the description and then don’t go back and look at the paces.  I post what is real and what I am feeling each day.  Because you will get caught out in the lies eventually. “I think I have just met the male version of me” - Tina Muir My whole purpose is to teach my son that anything is possible.  You don’t have to keep worrying about what you did in the past.  The only way for sure that I won’t do it is if I don’t try when I have the opportunity. They’re writers, directors, producers, onscreen talent, and entrepreneurs. I’m lucky to have met two guys with vast ingenuity, creativity, and work ethic.  On the first half of the episode, we talk about their respective backgrounds in sports, growing up on opposite coasts, and how filmmaking unexpectedly connected them. In the back half of the show, we delve into content development, advice for creators, which platforms you should be targeting, and why audience definition is the most important piece. In today's world, your ability to sell a person, company, product or service relies on your ability to sell. To sell, you need to market. To share. To tell. This requires a strategy, or in some cases a personality, a voice, a camera, a microphone, a pen, or a keyboard.
