Magawa, Cambodia's landmine-sniffing 'hero' rat, dies in retirement, age 8 He found more than 100 landmines and explosives in Cambodia before he retired last June. But now Magawa, the African giant pouched rat, has died at age 8. Magawa was the most successful “HeroRAT” used by international charity APOPO. He died over the Jan. 8-9 weekend. APOPO uses trained rats to detect landmines and tuberculosis. “Magawa was in good health and spent most of last week playing with his usual enthusiasm, but towards the weekend he started to slow down, napping more and showing less interest in food in his last days,” the nonprofit organization said in a statement. APOPO said Magawa's help allowed communities in Cambodia to live, work and play more safely. “Every discovery he made reduced the risk of injury or death for the people of Cambodia,” APOPO said. APOPO began training rats in Belgium in the 1990s. (Reuters) Dogs' brains can tell Spanish from Hungarian Dogs can distinguish between languages, researchers in Hungary found, after playing excerpts from the story The Little Prince in Spanish and Hungarian to a group of 18 canines and examining how their brains reacted. “(In the research) we found for the first time that a nonhuman brain can distinguish (between) languages,” said Laura V. Cuaya of Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest, who led the study. All the dogs in the experiment had heard only one of the two languages — either Hungarian or Spanish — from their owners before, allowing researchers to compare how their brain reacted to a highly familiar language and to a completely unfamiliar one. Maryland surgeons have successfully transplanted a gene-edited pig heart into a human, so now we wait for the inevitable rise of the pig-human hybrids and hope they don't attempt to take over the world. Also, Kodak Black is caught at a soccer (??) game in a viral video of him "doing the deed" with another woman. Some claim they're just twerking but get your investigation skills ready with me, fellas, and let me know what you think is REALLY going on here. Finally, check out this INSANE footage of heroic LAPD officers rescuing a pilot who crashed his plane on top of train tracks and is rescued mere seconds before the train smashes the plane to pieces. As always, leave a comment and let me know what you think about anything we discussed tonight. Jeff Ross then calls in to share some thoughts on Bob Saget, and Bob's unlikely friendship with John Mayer. Adam then plays a clip of today's guest, David Rubenstein, interviewing Fauci about pandemics back in 2019, and contrasts it to the way Fauci actually handled the pandemic. Vi que condecoraron a una rata. En Camboya. Al parecer llevaba muchos años encontrando minas antipersonales. ¿Cuántos años? No sé. Algo debe haber. Ni las ratas son tan desinteresadas. No sé qué podrá ser. Nunca he visto a una rata desminando, solo a perros.

Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall. * Inniu an tríú lá de mhí Dheireadh Fómhair. Is mise Ella Hassett. Tá an tAontas Eorpach tar éis cás dlí a thabhairt in aghaidh na Breataine mar gheall ar bhille trádála inmheánaigh . De réir an Aontais Eorpaigh, briseann an bille dlí idirnáisiúnta maidir le cúrsaí Thuaisceart na hÉireann. Chuir an tAontas Eorpach litir fhoirmiúil chuig Rialtas na Breataine inniu mar chéad chéim sa phróiséas dlí. D'fhógair Uachtarán an Choimisiúin Eorpaigh, Ursula von der Leyen, gur thóg siad an chéim sin mar gur theip ar Rialtas na Breataine ina dhualgas gníomhú “le dea-thoil”. Dúirt urlabhraí de chuid Rialtas na hÉireann agus teachta-dála Neale Richmond gur trua mór é ach go raibh an ceart ag an Aontas Eorpach an cás sin a thabhairt. D'fhógair an comhlacht taistil náisiúnta, Bus Éireann, go mbeidh sé ag cur deireadh le seirbhísí luasbhealaigh áirithe. Tá na seirbhísí seo idir Baile Átha Cliath agus cathracha Chorcaí, Luimnigh agus na Gaillimhe. Deir sé go dtiocfaidh deireadh leis na seirbhísí sin go luath sa bhliain 2021. Mar gheall ar Covid-19, thit líon na bpaisinéirí a úsáideann na seirbhísí sin ó mhí an Mhárta. I mí an Mhárta, cuireadh deireadh leis an tseirbhís X51 idir Gaillimh agus Luimneach freisin. Deir Bus Éireann nach gcaillfidh aon tiománaí a phost mar gheall ar na hathruithe sin, mar go dteastaíonn tiománaithe uaidh ar sheirbhísí eile.
